Song of Farca
Developer Wooden Monkeys
Hack into crime scenes, look for evidence, analyze data, interrogate criminals, track suspects and deal with the consequences of your decisions. This is a dark and brutal detective story with a Black Mirror-esque atmosphere of digital dominance and the narrative structure of a US crime procedural. From the Steam store page

60 of 198 · most liked firstI would definitely NOT recommend this game, I actually feel bad for spending time and money on it. 1. It's the SAME puzzles OVER AND OVER the ENTIRE game, they're not challenging for the most part, and they get boring as hell. 2. The main character has the personality of a brick, she has no convictions, no ethics, no morals, there's just nothing there. All she cares about is doing a job and getting paid, she's like a robot. 3. There's a sudden anti-union rant, where this mafia boss character…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, is Song of Farca a good game? Yes, it is. Very good, actually. If you want to play, just go ahead and do it. It's a beefed-up visual novel with a nice, trivial hacking minigame that only gets old after a few hours, a conversation system in which you have to present evidence after making deductions by linking two pieces of info from your investigations, with an ambiental pixel art depiction of what’s happening at the top of the screen in which you see your actual character while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not sure whether i recommend this game or not. I was amazed by it and quickly drawn in the story at the beginning, but the last third of the game dissapointed me greatly. One thing I wanna compliment that im still very satisfied with even now is the gameplay – I expected a usual visual novel, point and click type of game, but this game takes you into your role as a hacker with a creative twist on puzzles. I especially loved hacking and controlling drones and bugbots that required you to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca is a weird game. It feels like it should be about something, thematically, but it just kind of... isn't. It keeps mentioning things like CORPORATIONS and ACAB and UNIONS, but never seems to have anything meaningful to say about any of them. My impression is the game just thinks these are the kind of things games talk about, so they should be referenced, but it never shows interest in any of them. The cynical way of looking at this is someone in marketing was hoping using these…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →linear, everything you need to click is highlighted in yellow. i love a good mystery drama but this isnt it. also the main character is extremely unlikeable. i shall refund
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thank you to the person who called the writing "morally corrupt" - would not have bought this game if not for seeing your review
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring and uninspired. Very linear, doing anything that's outside the step-by-step script the devs wanted you to go with results in meeting a wall and illogical responses. I showed a criminal a picture of his illegal dog fighting ring, and he told me “this doesn't concern me”? Like, hello, I found your secret and stuff, react some other way than your default call-ending dialogue #4? Pointless.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve been playing and just beat this game called Song of Farca and man!!! It is so good and so fun. I found it randomly on steam and I haven’t heard anyone talk about it at all. If you like a good choices matter kinda investigative game, definitely pick it up.
unlabelledView post →To put it plainly, this game is boring. The dialogue is not interesting. The characters are not interesting. The game play is not interesting. And what the hell is up with the pointless pronoun highlighting? If this game wants to be progressive then maybe it should put less of a focus on gender and pronouns - I say this as a member of a sexual minority.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has an interesting premise and idea. And the underlying story is actually based on an good premise. HOWEVER: the main character, who is supposed to be a private investigator and hacker, and quite a skilled one, is written as an edgy teenager and many of the dialogues are as well. She can't have a conversation with almost anyone without pissing them off, most of the time on purpose, even when these people are dangerous criminals. And what's even worse: in many situations, once you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rewriting this entire review mainly due to my main peeve - the 2021 trope of constantly referring to immigration as a character development point across the span of the first 4 missions being absolutely annoying and undermining any actual character development that could've taken place - is only present for the aforementioned 4 missions. Song of Farca is a fairly basic puzzle game with predetermined results, minigames that are repeated but involve a couple fairly strange logic puzzles…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the game didn't catch my attention. I guess the story wasn't compelling enough for me. The collectibles a very hard to identify unless you follow a guide. In the same page, the puzzles were very tricky for me. The parts of roaming with bots were interesting yet very simple and I would venture to say 'incomplete'. All in all I do not find myself interest in replaying the game to get the remaining achievements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went in hoping for Hacknet meets Disco Elysium and came out with Poop meets Butt. Puzzle after puzzle I felt like a retired old wiener dog being slowly walked through an obstacle course marked by the Sony exclusive yellow paint epidemic, as each puzzle is accomplished by absent-mindedly clicking on every yellow thing that appears on-screen. When you run out of yellow, you tend to have a nice big red exclamation point guiding you to an evidence board that draws all the conclusions for you before…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the art and some characters, but this game only gives you a false sense of freedom of choice. And the gameplay lost its appeal only after a few hours. The puzzles are among the most boring I've played and you don't get much of a thrill which should be there from looking into other people's privacy .
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like steam's binary yes/no rating system because I feel like it asks the wrong question but yes I enjoyed and still am enjoying my time with the game. It's quite straightforward gameplay wise but it's fun. It tickles the brain just enough without being particularly challenging. The couple songs that are there fit the mood perfectly and for a game centred around its UI, well it's really well done. The character design is varied and everyone's got a quite distinct look. It's a game that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Schedule time! More Spying, new souls-like to suffer through (thanks, chat), two chat chosen game in Papers, Please and Manhunt, and continuing the cyber crime game of Song of Farca!
unlabelledView post →I had high hopes for this game based on the large number of positive reviews. Unfortunately it turned out to be another game where you end up clicking on everything until you have... clicked all the things. The mechanics become repetitive, boring and tedious very quickly. The characters are also very unlikable, regularly justifying their morally corrupt behaviour. Mix in virtue-signalling woke nonsense and you have a game that becomes unplayable. I couldn't get beyond the second case. Will be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a 58 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cons: 1. Terrible, morally bankrupt writing. 2. Can't skip/fast forward conversations. You need to wait for the text to be typed out, slowly (even on max speed), which is absurd. In a visual novel game. 3. No penalty for making wrong choices when presenting evidence or making an argument. 4. Upper half of the screen serves no purpose. 5. Can't pet the dog. Pros: 1, Music slaps, if you're into that kind of thing. 2. General idea and premise of the game are pretty cool.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Updating my review now that I have completed it once. I was neutral at first, closer to a "do not recommand", but now that it is done : yeahhh I can't recommand this game ESPECIALLY at full price. I got it on sale for 2.59$ CAD and I guess that's fine if you want to hate play something, but if your budget is tight, there are plenty other options to get before. I got this one because it had queer characters in it and the sale price seem cheap enough for my broke ass. I have to admit: I am not…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just played two cases in less than 30 minutes and the game shoved the pronounces things in my face!!! Remind me again why the pronounce he/him of the guy who lost his daughter is an important piece of mission???? That he's not GAY???? The second mission come with some thing like a prototype dog with the name Sir but the daughter love to call it she/her??? WTF its have to do with the stories??? So putting these BS in the game If you can't find another way to make stories interesting to cover…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is crazy! Firstly, as a detective game, it's not a great entry. To progress through the game, it is almost exclusively click on things until there's nothing left to click. The only real detective work is figuring out keypad codes from deductive clues, all of which were quite well thought out. The sheet music one is the only one that truly stumped me, but I'm not a music theory guy so that one just wasn't for me. The rest of the game lends itself more to narrative value. Speaking of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca 9 – 30+ hours to complete, Song of Farca is a point-and-click interactive novel set in a Cyberpunk (lite!) Dystopia, where you play as Isabella Song, a talented hacker and Private Detective who takes on cases ranging from locating missing pets, settling inheritance disputes, to tracking down suspects and investigating crime scenes, but there is a catch! Isabella is under house arrest and monitored by the police; she can’t set foot outside her apartment without her parole officer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 min into game and they start with that gay and furro ♥♥♥♥. I regret didn't see the blue hair lesbian in the trailer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca is a game that plays like a visual novel, with some fun puzzles in between. If you're looking for a game that'll really make you work, and make mistakes, this probably isn't the one for you. You can pretty much try over and over to get the 'correct' options/conversation, with some exceptions. The safe code puzzles are the hardest aspect, they were actually pretty enjoyable for me, they get more difficult as the game goes on; I was pretty stumped on the last 2 or 3. You can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 game. It is okay to play it through for the first time, but it does not have any re-playability - considering its price, I would lean towards not recommending it. The core mechanism is nice. You have split screen up and down with the upper life part and bottom hacking part. The puzzles are okay - but then it starts to be repetitive as you go deeper and deeper into the chapters. The only thing maintaining my interest is the storyline, which is not bad. However then, as I want to explore…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first character we interact with gives us an unsolicited, unskippable lecture on gender dynamics, then the game goes on to introduce every character as "Cis Male" even though there are no transsexuals in the story, making this a meaningless differentiator thats only there for woke points. This is the kind of game where the developer cares more about attracting Blackrock funding than making an enjoyable game, and while you have to give them points for ambition for skipping right past the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plot and Themes A lot of negative reviews mostly focus on specific political disagreements the reviewers have, without fully addressing what the game itself actually stands for. So, for starters, I’ll make an attempt to cover that. It criticizes radicalization and extremism, both left and right-wing and questions where the line towards radicalization is truly drawn. It brings forth the underbelly of systemic power, with blackmail usage as leverage and individuals who threaten such positions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great premise, but it's just too buggy. I put seven hours into it only for the phone call mechanic to glitch out. I can't hang up, so I'm just stuck in the last screen of the call forever. A real shame, because otherwise, the game is fun as heck!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not for me-- it holds your hand a lot and the puzzles there are involve a lot of brute force. I looked up the endings and they are not worth the journey in my opinion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story and Cyberpunk setting is so immersive that it completely drew me in and with all the Interactive elements and a compelling story. It doesn't even feel like a visual novel. Great Game...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros: -split screen mechanism is unique -i liked the graphics cons: -im sorry but i hated the music -puzzles get really repetitive after 2 hours of gameplay -needs a skip dialogue feature desperately
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but 100%ing is a pain. You can't get a chapter specific achievement by choosing the chapter- you have to go back at least one chapter to get the achievement for the next.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Woke game, the dog has no gender. =(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cons: - Edgy "alternative" main character, her behaviour is so immature, reckless and plain dangerous sometimes (and gets her in trouble very rarely for some reason). She antagonised previous clients, people close to her, punched someone, did things illegally and then showed her face and name to those she did this to, blackmailed people who know her well... People she captured sometimes did less illegal stuff imo and she just rolls with it. - The only way to play the game is to: a) click on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game lacks quality of life features, for example the text was set on 'fast' but The text appears quite slow, you read it faster than the letters appear so it feels like a slog (you cannot click to speed it up). One of the puzzles was three pixelated pictures, and you have to guess what the details in the pictures are, the game only gives you a percentage of what is correct after choosing an option for each picture, so you have to blindly guess the correct answers, after my 5th round of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was crazy! What a gem. I've never been a fan of point and click games, but I could not stop playing this. Music could get repetitive at some points and I never improved at interrogating, but I enjoyed the story and the hacking part. It was such a clever idea the house arrest and use of dones, robots and cameras. I got the bad ending and I regret nothing about the last chapter. Overall 10/10 and would go down as one of my favorites.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DEI slop, pronouns, normalizing online prostitution, cringe gender lines
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely bad and boring
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A click-to-solve narrative puzzle game in the same vein as "Orwell", you'll spend your time clicking on clues to build up a database of reference points for when you interrogate people, or investigating locations through the use of drones and cameras to uncover clues. There are also several codes to crack, which are the most difficult part of SoF, but they come with a very welcome in-built hint system. Everything is done via text, so there's a lot of reading. The main mechanics of SoF were all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm generally not a fan of this sort of art style and setting, but I figured I'd give it a shot just because it's a detective game. The game isn't very mechanically interesting to me. Just click all the cameras until something pops up. Rinse and repeat. I stopped playing once I got to the first interrogation because I didn't like the dialogue either. I'm fine with "woke" themes, especially when the characters are interesting. But here it feels like identity is shoehorned in. I figure if I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While yes the game is very linear with a very strong illusion of choice at times. The way the story unfolds was well worth it. I kinda wish hte studio made a sequel but looks like they don't exist anymore or at least havnt done anymore point and click detective games. Shame sadly :/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca, developed by Wooden Monkeys and published by Alawar, offers a gripping dive into a cyberpunk world where technology, crime, and personal ethics collide. The game places players in the shoes of Isabella Song, a skilled hacker and private investigator who is confined to house arrest in the sprawling, neon-lit city of Farca. Despite her physical limitations, Isabella’s prowess with technology enables her to take on complex investigations that reveal the darker side of the city’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels like NEXT, NEXT, NEXT, INSTALL from hell. There are no puzzles, there is no deduction. The challenge is navigating the UI as you never know where you have to click next and end up brute forcing it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You are a hacker locked in your apartment, so all action is just reading, answering/making phonecalls and hacking, and some kind of a sidescroller-minigame - which is random but nice. Although weird at some places, this is a game I recommend. Pro: - complex story unfolds - puzzles that are not just just for show - but skippable (password puzzles) - intuitive UI that feels right (mostly) Cons: - lots to read ( you can ignore most of it, if you dare ) - repetitive hacking (getting slighty more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sounds a lot better than what it delivers. You don't use AI, you don't surf the darknet, you click and move icons around. The videocalls with this AI made Claptrap from Borderlands sound a lot less annoying. Sorry Claptrap. The plot has ups and downs, but more downs, none of the characters were likable, there was a moment in the game that I literally stopped caring about what would happen to any of them. The game also has the worst line-up of f*cked up characters, and they always seem to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun. well-written. my brain kept going brrr when i was cracking the cases. also, the plot made me genuinely angry towards the end. managing to move me like that is a rare feat that i have to applaud, honestly
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is so much bugs it's insulting for the players at this point
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca is a pretty middle of the road detective hacking game, I have played better games in this genre but this game was pretty enjoyable for what it is. The puzzles, while mostly repetitive are pretty enjoyable and I did enjoy the split screen design. I enjoyed watching the dog while waiting for Isabella to finally sit down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game without any research on even the theme (I think I didn't even look at the steam page) and was pleasantly surprised. The story and artistic direction are a blast, and I got deeply attached to some characters. I really enjoyed how everyone was linked to the story as a whole. At first, I thought the top screen being Izzy's apartment was just gimmicky and a waste of space, but as I went deeper into the story, I started to really appreciate this part of the game. It made me…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song of Farca is a must-play for fans of cyberpunk and narrative-driven mysteries. The game puts you in the shoes of Izy Song, a sharp-witted hacker-turned-private investigator, unraveling dark secrets in a neon-drenched futuristic city. The blend of hacking, surveillance, and detective work is both engaging and rewarding, while the branching dialogue options allow for truly personal choices that impact the story. While it’s a relatively short experience, Song of Farca offers an unforgettable…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't let the filthy, disgusting, degenerate cover art fool you. Contrary to my first impression, this game is actually so very BASED! And remember, comrade: always bury your gays!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game! The dialogue is amazingly scripted, the "split picture" is a wonderful idea, the gameplay is refreshingly creative, and the puzzles are delightfully challenging (but not a headache)! All around great game, kudos <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great overall. The storyline is well-crafted, and the gameplay structure is both informative and engaging. However, one area that could use improvement is the lack of a save or progress tracking system. There’s no way to resume previous chapters, which becomes frustrating if you're aiming to complete all achievements. You have to replay the entire game at least two times, which is quite time-consuming. In the later chapters, the search process becomes especially lengthy,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A smart, brutal detective noir with meaningful choices and a tangled web to unravel. It's hard to write about this game because the format is so unusual, and my feelings so murky. In short, it's part visual novel, part puzzle game. There is a lot of conversation and many sequences involving environmental navigation and clue collecting. Your main character is a detective under house arrest who can explore crime scenes and other points of interest only by dispatching drones and "bug bots" to…
