Sometimes to Deal with the Difficulty of Being Alive, I Need to Believe There Is a Possibility That Life Is Not Real.
Developer Jeremy Couillard, Ireneo Mercado
Wander through a shifting simulation that feels both tragic and hilarious. Observe, interact, or simply exist as the world reshapes around you — a meditative, overstimulated reflection on what it means to keep going when everything’s falling apart. From the Steam store page

I really like that it is completely honest about what kind of experience you are in for. If you are lazy like me and can't be bothered then let me tl:dr that for you. This game is a very short exploration game with some trippy graphics. There is a 100 page manual to download from the devs page but that will take you longer to read than to play the actual game. I do recommend you read it though.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is trying to be like a psychedelic trip but it's incredibly broken. There are a few sloppy mini-games to explore with the chracter constantly getting stuck somewhere and you having to restart the level. What a waste of time and money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this game you play in a super surreal landscape. The game consists of a main area surrounding a pond, with approximately 5 mini game areas you can enter and explore around the pond. Each minigame area is unique, a few with objectives and a few are just surreal weird landscapes to walkthrough. The whole game takes around 1.5 hours to see everything and explore all the minigames. + Lots of colourfull weird characters to meet and discover + The developer wrote a 69 page manual that you can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of a work of interactive art than a game, as very likely intended. There are quite a few layers of irony, even hinting at modern memes in the ways these absurd characters interact with their environments. I liked how this explores our current reality by putting text snippets and audio clips that are clearly from the real world to these surreal creatures proving that the true absurdity lies not on the unreal but on the rather mundane. Outstanding visual style 2019, definitely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I launched this game expecting irony. You don’t give something a name like that and not go full edge-lord, right? Wrong. It was quiet. Unsettling. Weirdly sincere. I walked. I floated. I stared at walls that whispered at me with nothing but design. No voice. No story. Just mood. Just presence. And it hit me. This isn’t a game you play. It’s a game you sit in. Like a thought. Or a headache. Or grief. By the end I wasn’t sure if I’d just wasted fifteen minutes or had a minor existential…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this for a couple of hours, and I'm sure I've barely scratched the surface of this bizarre, beautiful chunk of trippy strangeness. The music, graphics and general vibe seems to be a meditation on existence itself. I will go ahead and add that this is one of those "more art than game" pieces of software. Personally, with the times as they are, we need this kind of art more now than ever. Bright colors, flashing lights, electronic music and a host of the strangest creatures that would…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's. A. Masterpiece. [quote=Arthur Schopenhauer]“What disturbs and depresses young people is the hunt for happiness on the firm assumption that it must be met with in life. From this arises constantly deluded hope and so also dissatisfaction. Deceptive images of a vague happiness hover before us in our dreams, and we search in vain for their original. Much would have been gained if, through timely advice and instruction, young people could have had eradicated from their minds the erroneous…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an interesting art game. it's fun for a laugh, but the game is abandoned, unoptimized and broken in some aspects. play the developer's other works instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what to write here about a piece of art that refuses to be engaged with. It will tell you what it wants, what it is, what it wants to mean, and you can take it or leave it. Unapologetically unapproachable. The game will not meet you in the middle, you will come to the game or you will leave without understanding.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow that was weird, gameplay is kinda strange
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to give this a thumbs up SO BADLY, its actually a masterpiece... Unfortunately, there is a bugged achievement that the dev left unfixed, leaving the game impossible to 100%
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is profound and made me think about the meaning of life. It’s a simulation of what is and what isn’t an odd, drifting journey through a life of nothing and everything. It shows you that something doesn’t need to be real to have meaning. What lingers is how it blurs choice and illusion. You act, but you’re never sure if your actions matter, or if the idea of “mattering” is just a story you tell yourself. The world shifts not because it changes, but because you do, as if the game is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Creepiest game of the century and unique and original I will give you that much...definately worth the money. Jedi Mind Tricks from newyork, getting high, and a lot of other info that caught my attention bro. The house was creepy with the dogs bro...in the city...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a game? Perhaps. Is this Art? Sure. Is it good? I'm not sure. Is it bad? No...? Then what is it? What is its purpose? Why do we do the things we do? IDK. Do you?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a weird trip from start to finish, and I honestly had no idea what was going on half the time. Nevertheless, it managed to keep me entertained. Do note that one of the achievements is bugged if you are intending to go for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game isn't really a normal game to review. It's basically some interactive surreal simulator. Heavily based within art style and atmosphere. Personally I'd say It's not awful, It's interesting. This is also Jeremy Couillard's weakest release. All other games from this developer are better. With that being said, the price is low so It's ok. There is less than one hour of content in there. And honestly I'd like to give it a neutral review. But steam doesn't have that option in reviews. I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pure videogame postmodernism. A surrealism work that transcends the jumble of coherent and tear-jerking narratives or terrible battle passes and skins to be the closest thing to art. The reference to Mark Fisher is a nice touch. 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes to Deal with the Difficulty of Being Alive, I Need to Believe There Is a Possibility That Life Is Not Real, developed by Jeremy Couillard and Ireneo Mercado and published by Akupara Games, is a deeply unconventional digital experience that sits at the intersection of interactive art, simulation, and philosophical exploration. Released in 2019, the title intentionally defies traditional gaming structures, offering no explicit goals or linear narrative. Instead, it invites players into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry dev dude but I'm gonna be real right now, don't take it too close to heart First of all, you should've chosen a different kind of medium for your art project because this ♥♥♥♥ is very poorly optimised my pc was launching off trying running this game and don't tell me it was intentional, no way Second of all, the capitalism bad kinda message haven't landed with me because I imagine it's coming from a little life experience art student whose room is messy but it's an art mess so it's okay…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have ascended beyond this vessal of flesh. My soul free form the prison of skin and bone. I have left all which is materialistic and corrupt. I am now free. I am now blessed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm scared of this game, but that's ok
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FALGSC without the FA and the L. It's weird and I like weird games - you know, the ones you randomly stumble upon when browsing itch.io, etc.. This is one of those and that's why I love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pizza Man got that secret sauce. That aside- this is unique, clever, and flat-out weird which are all things I appreciate immensely especially in a sea of sameness devoid of imagination. Highly recommend.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the idea of the game. I was really looking for something experimental, truly artistic. Despite cons like poor optimization, soft lock, and somewhat clunky movement. I believe the price is fair for something experimental and that any "technical problem" isn't really relevant to this type of art unless it ruins the game, which isn't the case here. BUT.... unfortunately, I lost all the personal connection I had with the game when I saw that the poetry of sadness and absurdity mixed with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful simulation. From my understanding it's kind of going through devs thought process and unanswered questions through and about life. It really resonates with me and honestly this makes me feel less alone. Knowing that someone out that wonders the same thing I do. Hate to sound narcissistic but I always wondered if i was just more than other people, I just didn't know that other people thought and feel the same things I did. It was always in the back of mind on whether or not i'm just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Ass when you get soft locked and are forced to reset the minigame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh no. This is weird for the sake of being weird. To be fair, this was the first game I tried from this developer, having seen another game of theirs in an itchio bundle. And the description does say it's not for everyone. I thought .79 would be a small price to pay to see if I like this style. I really, really don't. But aesthetics aside, the framerate is choppy, and movement feels awkward. The guide the developer asks you to read before playing the game contains direct quotes from it. Save…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes to deal with the difficulty of being alive, I need to leave a review after playing this wonderfully wacky and brain-melting game. If you like weird/surreal/trippy/hallucinogenic games, then chances are that you will love this. Not to mention that at a sale price of 54 cents at the time of this writing, it should be a no-brainer to get as you basically have not much to lose, except for maybe an hour and a half or so of your time. Others have said that this is more an interactive work…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A deeply unconventional interactive art piece, simulation, absurdist sci-fi play and game. Centered on Polyp's Pond, it can be explored, watched, networked, left running as a living installation, or barely played at all. Three post-human AIs (brogrammer Smerga, anarcho-syndicalist Kaotoa inspired by Proudhon and Emma Goldman, and non-binary alien Skalitir) survive a human apocalypse, build a machine to create new AI, fight swamp creatures, gossip, procrastinate, dance, meditate, sleep and email…
