Silver Streak
A somewhat daffy book editor on a rail trip from Los Angeles to Chicago thinks that he sees a murdered man thrown from the train. When he can find no one who will believe him, he starts doing some investigating of his own. But all that accomplishes is to get the killer after him. From TMDB

Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor star in a funny comedy often cut for tv. 3/5 film-authority.com/2025/07/13/s...

positive · AI labelView post →Saving Silverman - Not an amazing movie, but I first watched it on September 12, 2001. The world seemed very upside down and I watched that silly movie with my sister and her friend and it was what really needed. I just discovered Silver Streak is free on YouTube and I've always wanted to see it.

Night Train To Munich, North By Northwest & Silver Streak showed that claustrophobic train cabins can become enormously suspenseful when there’s bad guys on board; be careful who you ride with 😱
neutral · AI labelView post →Look. I really like the Richard Pryor / Gene Wilder movie "Silver Streak." I think it's (mostly) great. And then there's the scene where they disguise Gene Wilder by putting shoe polish on his face, and... I... Oh, no. Not good.

neutral · AI labelView post →Great movie for some laughs. Those two are a solid comedy team. Stir Crazy and Silver Streak are others to check out if this type of humor is your thing. It’s been a long while and you’ve reminded me that I need to have a rewatch.

Various portions of Toronto Union Station were also used as stand-ins for stations in Los Angeles, Kansas City, and Chicago

neutral · AI labelView post →Brewster's Millions is the best 7-out-of-10 1980s movie. I love Silver Streak too. And Uncle Buck. I think maybe Planes, Trains and Automobiles is an 8-out-of-10 1980s movie so it might not count in this review
positive · AI labelView post →Hiller was the same director who did Silver Streak in 1976. I believe Silver Streak was the first movie they worked together in
neutral · AI labelView post →#WriteStuff Q3: Two excellent cross-genre films in 1976 were the buddy film “Silver Streak” that was part comedy and part thriller and “Murder By Death” which was a blend of comedy and mystery. How do you intersperse comedy into topics that aren’t humorous in nature?
neutral · AI labelView post →Silver Streak is a train movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Impossible to believe he would be 93 right now. He's still a young and vital comic powerhouse in my head. If he's not well known to you, check out Silver Streak. Not his best movie, but vv good and he gets to be the clown, the lover, and the hero. Maybe for the only time. As a bonus: Jill Clayburgh!

But by the time this came out, I wasn't very interested and have still never seen it. I should but so many other movies are higher up on my watch list.

positive · AI labelView post →Silver Streak. Not bc it’s some great movie, it’s good but it’s not Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles, but bc of the # of times I’ve seen it. It’s my fave bc I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it 800 times (slight exaggeration but only slight). Was always on tv when I was a kid and I watched every time.

I'm not clear on why he made so many, unless he's planning to recreate some of the stunts? I hope not that'd be a waste of a good locomotive. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjew...

"Runaway Train" and "Silver Streak" are two I'd say are highly implausible but not impossible depictions of trains. Problem is, for every single film that's "highly implausible but not impossible" you get 20 "Unstoppable"-s.

He talked about writing Harold and Maude, Silver Streak, and 9 to 5 (which was more a rewrite, changing a much darker film into a comedy). H&M started as a college film project.
