I don't know about what the story was, I just always accidentally pushed a button and the whole dialogues auto-skipped. From the mid-game I just didn't bother anymore and skipped everything to save my time. Not a lot of content. 2 hours at most. Some bosses can be hard at first, but they are usually easy to learn after a few tries. Very forgettable game overall.
