unlabelledView post →This is not a detective game. This is torture. I have closed one case, out of many, I assume, and I have had enough. Every detail feels wrong. Let me explain what this game did wrong in two words: ABUSIVE HANDHOLDING You know, a true detective game, or maybe just my weird expectation of one, is a game where you actually do detective work. You investigate things, draw conclusions, and your knowledge moves the story forward. Knowledge. Here, the game moves you forward, explains every little…

Out of the last 6 games I bought, 4 use Unreal Engine. I don’t believe in conspiracies, but at some point you can’t help noticing patterns. It almost feels like Unreal became the…

unlabelledView post →First playthrough review time. Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter is a mystery game where you play as Sherlock Holmes. The game takes place in London, and you need to solve five different cases. You will explore places, find clues, and talk to people to solve the mysteries. The game looks nice, with good character designs and detailed places. The London setting feels dark, with fog and street lamps. The voices and movements of the characters are well done, which makes the game feel real.…

Frogwares usually nails the deduction system, the atmosphere, and the immersive Victorian mystery vibes. This time, though, it feels like they tried to turn Sherlock into a mix of action hero and emotional drama protagonist—and it just doesn’t work. There are moments of brilliance, but they’re buried under awkward storytelling choices,…

unlabelledView post →Very nice (in borat voice) I enjoyed it. felt like a detective there. some puzzles where difficult but most of them was easy enough. so basically there was 5 chapters or cases. 3rd chapter being my FAV. One thing dont sit right with me is the game title name is The devils daughter but it is only involved in the final chapter (5). The city was nice 18/19th london movie vibes. one complain is the city is very unlively. there are NPC there but most dont talk they just do some random stuff.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is... really bad. Sherlock Holmes in this game is just a worse person and character to be around, the mysteries are weak and weird and any sense of moral ambiguity in the condemn/absolve system is gone. Not the condemn/absolve system itself, that's there, but when the first case has the villain commit the most comically evil act you can imagine? (You can guess it from the opening cutscene and case name, but it's a Most Dangerous Game scenario where poor people are being quite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not support windowed fullscreen, or even just fullscreen on a monitor that is not the primary monitor. Multi-monitor setups were already quite common in 2016 when this was released. This is unacceptable. I have found a workaround using third-party tools, but I should not have to do this to play a game that released in 2016. I would expect this from a game released in 1998. This is a major turn-off. The gameplay is okay, not great. There are a lot of action scenes where you have…

Good voice acting that helps bring the characters to life. You can customize and disguise Sherlock, which adds a bit of fun and variety. Moral choices at the end of each case. Some genuinely clever puzzles and deductions that make you feel like a detective. The investigation mechanics become more enjoyable once you understand how the…
