Developer Croteam VR
Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is a 2017 first-person shooter game for virtual reality (VR) developed by Croteam VR and published by Devolver Digital. One or two players fight waves of enemies, including bosses, across five thematic planets. The enemies approach from a 180° field and the player can use dual-wielded weapons while moving across a limited space. Latest if you share your VR with your family or friends. And it does not exit properly. I have to restart VR every time. Nevertheless It could be a good game. If not... The Devs obviously abandonned it! Do you still remember the times, when "cool" Webpages were "optimized" for the MS-Internetexplorer on Vesa-res.? Meant: in every other…

I had a super fun time playing the first two levels. Level 3 requires you to "push up to continue", which is apparently not possible on Valve Index or Windows MR controllers. Looking around the web, a lot of people have this problem. There is a console command to supposedly fix it, but I could not get it to work. I love CroTeam and defended this game long before I ever…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“Depression begins with disappointment.” ~Joyce Meyer I hate it. I just hate it when expectations meet reality and die in agony. As we all know, during the spring of 2017, Croteam's popular FPS series went VR. And it turned out to be... [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/letande/recommended/552450/]surprisingly satisfying, really. Even though it was all about lazy ports with quite a lot of “buts” (for example, in VR version of The Second Encounter…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is the first Serious Sam game, especially made for VR. From what I’ve played so far, they’ve put a lot of thought into its design, and it works out really well. And on top it’s garnished with the typical Serious Sam humor. Story It’s a Serious Sam game, so it’s pretty much “Shoot the baddies”. But that is really all the game needs. Gameplay Unlike other Serious Sam games, each level of The Last Hope always starts on the bridge of a giant Spaceship…

If you're here not for that, please don't debate. 🕘 IMPRESSION: * Year 2017: Game released * Year 2023: Buying it to test my VR headset * 1 hour later: Nothing special :/ * 2 hours later: Sword play is surprisingly better than I expected :D * 5 hours later: Surely will come back to play again :) * 10 hours later: Not fun anymore because discovered the bad side :( GAMING…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on the Valve Index. This game started off very strong. The game breaking event occured in world 3 where there is a tutorial for shield, sniper and sword. There's a pop-up to "push up" to continue. Apparently the devs never bothered to test this on the knuckle controllers (the game represents your controllers as Vive wands, which I don't have). It's impossible to continue with the controllers of the index, I had to resort to some console commands to get over the pop-up. The Valve Index…

It's the only Serious Sam game in VR officially, but as a player you just stand still and shoot the oncoming Mutants! I expected you to be able to move around at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Sam turret shooter where the guns are your hands, and we knew it'd be stupid fun, but there are some significant short-comings to the game's design that previous Sam games did better than this one. I'll be honest, the iconic first wave of bombers in the first level of Serious Sam 3 was much more of a thrill to gun my way through than the first 10 rounds of this game. This is actually kind of a mis-step for Serious Sam VR games. The gun sounds aren't very good, lacking bass punch or…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 out of 5 of the missions do not work without having to remap the controls. very sloppy. the game however is fun but only worth buying on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 Being an early VR game, this is one of those stand in one place and shoot everything that comes at you type of VR games. Really disappointing, especially since this game was in early access for a while, and TFE TSE And 3 were all ported and play as they should. Short, dull and repetitive, this was the only non indie serious same game I didn't really care for. Oh, and the boss fights suck. They have way too much health. It is quite challenging though, even on normal, so it should gave…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a tough one. The game is lots of fun at times, but riddled with bad design choices. Why is there a Skill tree, purchasable weapons and ammo, a cheap-ass weapon upgrade system and grinding? My wife and I also finished the whole game in under 3 hours. Yes, we could attempt to replay it on a higher difficulty level but I would rather prefer more levels with more variation. The full price is a joke. In the Serious Sam VR Bundle it's a great addition.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →boring AF. shoot baddies while standing in place, the sequel we've all been waiting for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring wave shooter experience. No movement at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was fooled into thinking this was like the other serious sam vr titles but a new game, its just a wave shooter made from assets from 3, and you cant move, so, 0/10 no
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The other SS's in VR are way better, this is just a decent wave shooter if that is your thing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This games sucks Don't buy it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a let down. it's a VR game with no reason to be in VR. You just stand there and shoot like in an arcade. I want an open map that I can run around and kill waves of monsters in. I thought this would be essentially an expansion for SS3 BFE VR but it's a downgrade. I wish I could get my money back.

It's the typical wave shooter in a vr with a twist because you have to unlock skills and upgrade weapons for become stronger for do highter dificulties the stages. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last Hope is definitely not a regular serious Sam game, this is a wave shooter. However that change in genre doesn't seem to stop this game from feeling any less bad***. This is one satisfying game to play and I can definitely recommend it to any one who is willing to get over it being a wave shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried this game with the makeshift keyboard control option to satisfy my masochistic curiosity. All things considered it's surprisingly playable (borderline enjoyable even), but the game can't be finished this way as some of the late game weapons that are mandatory for progression are not operable with the kb+m control method. Looking at it the way I do now I imagine that it's insanely entertaining to play in it's intended form, even like this I was able to grasp as much. Basically everything…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whilst i did enjoy the game, i feel this is very over priced for a 180 degree, stand still shooter. The graphics are nice, but sadly i felt the most enjoyment when i first loaded the game and entered the docking bay of the ship.. I'm giving a no, purely based on the price. If you can get it for less than $20, go for it! It will probably be worth the money if your into stationary shooters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is absolutely amazing, don't listen to the negative reviews. It is a wave shooter, and I thinks this is even better for VR than the normal games, and it's just soo much fun. You have 5 different planets, each with 4 long waves, with different settings and enemies and bosses. Everything is really well made, the waves are intense but also well thought trough. The progression system is also great. I won't go into detail, but it's made so that you can choose from a collection of many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My game experience in 8 easy steps: 1) Started the game on Hard mode, couldn't even get past the first level. It is insanely hard. There is one more difficulty after this: I don't think even Neo himself could complete it. 2) Completed the first level on Normal. By the end of the first level my fingers were already tired of pressing the trigger: you have to shoot many many times in a single level. Game feels like a generic wave shooter. 3) So I used the money acquired from the first level to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →any development studio making a first person perspective VR game should be required to match the comfort and accessibility options that Croteam managed 7 years ago with Serious Sam VR, one of the most fast-paced FPS games I've played. Not a single VR first person game measures up. Not even Alyx.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very surprised how genuinely fun this is, I don't like wave shooters but I really enjoy this Got it in a bundle, didn't know was for $40, that's a little steep but admittedly it's way better than expected for a wave shooter
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dumb, over the top violence. I love it. Switch off your brain and shoot!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a wave defense spin-off where you're always stationary, but the combat manages to still feel like an actual Serious Sam game despite that. The shop system inbetween rounds helps to add some depth too. The game's assets are a really weird mash of things from HD, 3 and 4. But who cares: you're here to shoot things. Yep that's pretty much it. You shoot gun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →!!DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! If you have VR like me, for example Valve Index, do not buy! After more than 2 years developers still did not fixed bug that won't let you go past 3rd planet! I bought this game and i was able to play only less than half of it!? I am very dissapointed. No support there, no patches. If it wasn!t this bug, i would say it's alright and the campaing will give you one solid evening of shooting hordes and fun. Ahh man...Maybe the developers did not get paid the whole sum but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest I don't like wave shooters where you don't move, but this game is a lot of fun. I like that you can purchase power ups and improvements. Really fun game, but especially in coop. Highly recommend =)

I own all the rest of the series and this is by far my fvorite and best. The options that I have seen in the game are the BEST I have seen anywhere, let alone for a VR title...really couldn''t even believe how well done EVERY aspect of this is. I KNEW it was going to be good going in due to the OVERWHELMING reviews, yet I still didn't know I was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is an energetic and unapologetically intense virtual reality shooter that translates the core identity of the long-running Serious Sam franchise into a form that feels purpose-built for VR. Developed by Croteam VR and published by Devolver Digital alongside Croteam, the game places players directly in the middle of overwhelming alien invasions, emphasizing raw action, physical presence, and reflex-driven chaos rather than narrative complexity or tactical subtlety.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this game to anyone who likes wave shooters but not if you are looking for single player exploration, so its a har no from me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am new to VR and have only tried a few vr games so far, This game is surprisingly very good and very fun, i did not have massive expectations for it as i assumed it just looked like a random arcade like game you would get bored of in about a hour of playing. However the small progression system and unlocks you get make the game worth putting a fair bit of hours into. I have also played almost all the serious sam games so this is actually a really nice addition to the franchise despite it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old VR wave shooter. But way more fun than it had any rite to be. I played more than I was expecting... good reference for a shooter. Respectable PC VR graphics. Responsive game-play and good humor. https://youtube.com/shorts/95Dw4gOXVqM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one’s a bit different from the other Serious Sam VR games. It’s more like a classic shooter, kind of like Duck Hunt or House of the Dead, but you’re stationary and just mowing down waves of enemies. Definitely more arcade-ish than the usual Serious Sam style, but it’s still packed with action. If you're into old-school, on-rails shooters, this one’s a solid pick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of the small list of good coop VR games on Steam, so if you're in the market for that specifically - buy it. Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is the one of the early VR shooting gallery titles, where you are standing on one spot and the enemies come in waves, much like a light gun arcade cabinet. You can have any gun in any of your hands, so mowing down waves of enemies with 2 miniguns is often not just preferrable - the game directly suggests it. What I mean is that despite a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay this is just a rail shooter. If you don't like House of the Dead you probably won't like this. It retains simplicity which is good, but I really feel like they could make a Serious Sam VR but it would require you to still be able to press backwards. This game is fine if you want a rail shooter, but Serious Sam it is vaguely.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Classic franchise. A real VR game. Cons: Few players. Not a great game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game starts to suck when it forces you to fight with a sword instead of a gun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun VR sitting shooter for when you want to laze around and chill to Metal blasting at full volume in the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a stationary wave shooter, meaning that you can just sit on your bum and spray everything in front of you with bullets. Perfect VR game if you're a lazy fat bastard like me. Except when you have to use the bow. Honestly, ♥♥♥♥ that thing. Also, it doesn't let you adjust between sitting/standing position, which means that the game kinda feels like you're playing as a midget if you sit down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Last Hope will teach you: 1) How much harder Serious Sam is when MENTAL has manged to glue Sam's feet to the ground so he can't constantly run backwards. 2) How hard it is to aim guns akimbo at two different moving targets simultaneously when you only have one pair of eyes. Also the music is really good (even if the best track it plays is Hero from SS3). It's a bit of a one-trick "rails shooter without even the rails" but it's a perfectly fun little VR toy, complete with gimmicky meh…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Immensely fun. Sure, it's just a standing wave shooter and you can get a few free of those on Steam already.. but not with this production value. It's massive, and very good looking. This was the first SS VR and since then, all TFE, TSE and BFE came out in VR and provide a better and proper SS experience, but if you still up for more SS, this still unique and has gameplay elements and exclusive weapons not seen anywhere in the series.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wave shooters suck, and this is no exception. Don't buy this one. Don't buy any. I've played games with wave events, but then you get to continue through the level, not just stand there like an ahole. At this point I consider wave shooting to be just one event/mechanic in/of a full game. You're going to buy at least a couple wave shooters, no matter what I say, but I know you'll bore of them quickly and then think back to how insightful I was in this review. I paid $5.37 and I don't feel…
