positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: The character portraits are nice, the enemies are somewhat interesting, the Mastery concept of "Equip weapon with Master X, thing can now happen when weapon with Mastery X triggers". The bad: - FOR THE DEVS: Bugs 1. The passive for ressurecting doesn't work. 2. The amount of gold you get for a level bugs out sometimes, giving wild amounts. Other times it gives nothing 3. The anti-shotgun passive for "when you take damage, become invulnerable for x seconds" doesn't work. 4. Victory /…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There has been a major bug in this for almost a year now. Sometimes when you beat a boss, the game locks everything but the dash button. You can't attack, move, aim, you can't even open the escape menu, forcing you to ALT+F4. Some have mentioned auto-leveling being the cause, I do not use auto-leveling so that's not it. Again, this has been in the game for almost year, since about November 2024. Devs have not addressed this. Do not get this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This plays a lot like Vampire Survivors but with Diablo-ish itemization and plenty more to do, giving it an extra dimension over VS. Each stage has its own gimmick, making them feel a bit different to one another. The devs appear to have abandoned bug fixing about a year ago, though just the other day they got in contact with me and fixed a pretty annoying bug that had been unaddressed for a year. There are still plenty of other bugs -mostly minor or to do with visuals not displaying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10. I played since early access and I have to say what an absolute mess of a game. From one of the best roguelite survivor game to end up a very mediocre one. So many convoluted systems that it ended up being a tedious treadmill experience. Thankfully less and less bugs with every patch but there are just too many and most of them are blatantly obvious. -Stress: This is probably the most stressful roguelite survivor game I have played. Movement is everything, you cannot stand still until…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game appears abandoned. No update in about a year. There are better survivor games that are updated.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Promise and Disappointment Scarlet Tower is yet another title in the well-populated wave survival/bullet heaven genre. In most important regards, it is a well thought contribution, with a great aesthetic and enough unique systems which allow it to stand on its own in a relatively formulaic genre. Progression is multi-leveled and partially shared, with each of the several characters having their own unique abilities, a racial skill which is shared by some characters, equippable gear and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full of bugs and missing features. Having played more because my OCD tells me to unlock everything I can confirm my previous findings, I cannot comprehend how the devs themselves on the discussion board have the guts to say the game is complete, the balancing is absolutely dumb, special mention to the Dark Servant dealing literally 80 to 100 times your damage, there's also a ton of bugs, some abilities don't work, visual bugs with stats not updating properly, minions get stuck in trees…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They are saying they don't use AI for generating any assets "You can look at their most recent post and determine the truth of that for yourselves but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are just incompetent instead." That being said these are the other reasons you may wish to avoid the title at this time. - Controls often freeze after boss fights only allowing the player to dash and locking out many other inputs. - Player is often unable to pick up or equip items - Slime…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly buggy and no updates for a very long time to address them. I enjoy the game but cant in good conscious recommend when it has apparently been abandoned without fixing the remaining issues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to keep this rather brief because Scarlet Tower is the sort of thing that can be accurately summarized with little handwringing. There's a lot going on here, it has a functional and coherent aesthetic, plenty of features, a recently improved game engine that I can vouch for; and it would easily cement a place for this game as one of the very best of its type if only everything actually worked. The great monkey on Scarlet Tower's back is a code monkey, and the spanner he swings…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, so I play a lot of bullet hell games. I like em. My gripes with this game. 1. I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ I am suppose to be doing. Granted I am on the first map grinding higher corruption levels and nightmare mode. Why don't I know what to do? See a quest, do it and then wander around for a while looking for powerups. The powerups that seem of any use are; EXP Shrine, HP shrine and the green magnet. Everything else is walking around and killing stuff. 2. Okay, now that I mention…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun initially. But once you start beating the levels, the bugs come out. I havent finished one run tonight because I cant move, or the game wont spawn in a boss. Sat for 1 hour for curiosity sake and it counts as a loss cause I gave up. it wasnt spawning enemies, or very little, and than a boss never spawned. like wtf. Dont buy this game. Its fun at first but youre throwing away your money and for steam to still have this listed on their site is BS. It needs to come off and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfulfilled ambition As a Vampire Survivor clone, this stands out in terms of depth and character design. However, the game is such jank that I can't really recommend it. At higher difficulties, you can be completely in control for tens of minutes, then suddenly get wasted in the blink of an eye. Not fun. The need to move through different difficulties one by one for each stage individually is also a time waste and frustration. Once you have unlocked one stage at the highest level, it should…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is bad. Gamebreaking bugs, incorrect textures, boring.... It is a harsh review, but dont be a fool like me and play 6 hours before you feel like giving up. Keep this game on wishlist and check back in 6 months if you really want this game. But there are much better games out there.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a lot of survivors games, like a fair amount. this game has been unappealing since my first run. even after a fair amount of runs, my characters feel like garbage, upgrades never feel like im killing things faster, and costs are pretty high. my allies die super quick, and i've run into the game lock up after a boss already. you can dash but that's it, even the ESC menu doesn't work and you have to alt-f4. for $5 it's not worth it, on sale maybe, but there are over a dozen…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perhaps this is the best in its genre. Unlike Vampire Survivor, where different characters only offer varying stats, each character here provides a unique skill set, passive ability, and starting weapon, all of which are upgradable. There are loot drops and multiple types of currency, along with gear featuring diverse stats that can also be upgraded. The game offers extensive customization and upgrade options keeping you engaged as you grind for specific collectibles to empower your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →still full of bug and last update was 2024
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It started well, but eventually got mired in grindy systems, impossibly punishing RNG, and bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most games like these balance it for consistent growth so that each level is more challenging but the boss and level are reasonably difficult with normal progression. This game will spawn enemies that are more challenging but with upgrades they can be overcome. Suddenly, there is a boss at the end of the same level you just came through with minimal damage that is much faster than you, has AOE damage that is hard to avoid because you are so much slower and damage that is substantially higher…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, lots of fun. BUG THAT STOPS U FROM PLAYING IF U BEAT THE AREA BOSS. U JUST DIE FROM ENEMIES OR GET CHASED BY THE BOSS FOREVER. THERE IS NO WORK AROUND, NO UPDATE IN A YEAR
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game but it is practically unplayable. There are so many bugs that break the game and there hasn't been update in months. I have issues with monsters stop spawning for no reason, you kill a boss and you can move, UI doesn't update when you make equipment or character changes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kirby's Take: PROS - Fun game and good value for the price. - Gameplay is similar to VS and similar "survivor" titles. - Day and night cycle is a neat mechanic - each playable character feels unique with an interesting variety of powers and Ultimate attacks - The addition of loot is a neat idea opening up build options for characters. - presentation is nice great music and visuals - overal game is fun and easy to pick up and play CONS - Unfortunatly inventory system is extremely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has some promise, but is overly complicated and poorly tuned. Seems to be abandoned, and not too long after release either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A strong and just complicated enough survivors/bullet heaven style game. Ongoing updates and bug fixes, and new meta-progression are appreciated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →vampire survivors clone need more balance good support developer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scarlet Tower is a survival game that pits you against waves of vampire-like enemies, offering a range of upgrades and the promise of creative builds. While the game has potential, it’s held back by balance issues and limited viable strategies. High enemy damage makes defensive abilities a must, and while weapon evolutions are a fun feature, the long cooldowns can feel frustrating It’s a solid effort with room to grow, but at this stage, other games in the genre may offer a smoother and more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game, visually, is beautiful. Sadly, that's where the positives end. The balancing is horrible. The game is riddled with visual bugs that have been around since before the update. The update straight up introduced an enemy (the avatar of Lust) that can one-shot your character from outside the map—it's painfully evident there has been minimal to no testing on the devs' end. The English is rough in places. Knowing the devs are also Brazilian made me give this game a fair shot, but at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished 8 runs at the time of this review. 5 of those I had to Alt+F4 because the game bugged after I defeated the stage boss. The game is fun, but is broken. Don't bother with it Edit: It doesn't list on this game steam page, but there were a small update and the problem seems fixed
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't do anything bad, but also doesn't do anything interesting. Just a bit boring. You only need one look at the many unexplained systems to see this is a game that tried to copy everything other Survivor-like games were doing, but didn't find an indentity of its own. Skills are weird, power ups have several use requirements, upgrades are few. Glitches are common, items can't be grabbed, you get damaged/healed by no visible cause, sprites vanish. There are a lot of currencies you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First I would like to say that I absolutely do recommend this game. it is one of the best games of it's kind. so why am I leaving this negative review? because of one specific mechanic it particular: there are many different kinda of levels with cool twist mechanics to make every level not just feel the same. however one of them; a under water level. Has that one copy paste mechanic developers like to add to every under water level for some reason that no one likes and is just an annoyance…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game has enormous potential, I really do! However there are so many *little* gameplay details that show a lack of polish, it really doesn't feel like a game in its 2.0.x stage. There are so many bizarre design choices that feel like they belong in an EA / beta version. * Weapons go *on* cooldown when you upgrade them. This is uniquely different from most other VS-likes. Currently, finding a Lv5 / Fusion upgrade doesn't feel like a power spike, it's a punishment that make you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like vampire survivors and death must die had a child!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every survivors game has its own thing, and this one is a twin-stick variant, meaning you can move in one direction while shooting in another. This opens up tactical possibilities: for example, you can concentrate firepower on a boss while kiting it around. You can also do a short dash. All of this makes it feel more active than most of the popular games in the genre. You also have perks and equipment that can be upgraded and swapped out at will, so there is a little bit of strategic depth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They nerfed everything to the ground, even nightmare 1 lvl seems impossible with the strongest builds and stats. It was a very good game idk what happened. They supposedly gave free dlc content but doesnt seem like it. From 10/10 to max 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never have so little idea wtf was happening in a game. This is theoretically a bullet heaven. You open the game and there’s no intro, no explanations, nothing, you’re just catapulted into this series of menus with increasingly elaborate skilltrees some of which already have points applied and no explanation for anything. There’s not even normal stats, there’s Faith, Occult, and something else I don’t remember, and those cover random arrays of normal stats, like 6 each. All the skill…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When a gameplay loop is built well, it becomes very hard to leave the next run for later I liked Scarlet Tower because it does not settle for just copying the formula of surviving waves and stacking upgrades. The foundation is familiar, yes, but the gothic tone, the day and night cycle, the classes, and the familiars give it a much stronger identity than I expected. What stood out most to me is the constant sense of growth it builds, the kind where every run leaves me with a different build in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scarlet Tower is a flawed survivorslike that is worth mentioning. Made by Brazilian indie developers, this is another game set in their "Noyah" setting. One of the biggest criticisms of Scarlet Tower today is that it is considered abandonware. The fact that the devs do not feature this game on their website seems like they unofficially renounced it.. Steady updates are critical for this emerging genre but sadly last time we heard from them was a year ago. This game is basically if your mom…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i might play it again, but back then it was waaaaaay better. now they ruined it with item equipment, too many weird systems like the mastery system, and allies... i remember when i shredded with fused weapons alone through the map. now im too confused to make a build of my choice, and still win on the map unless i miss to dodge a boss attack...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright for $5, but it's also turned into abandonware.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mess of half-thought out systems.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an incredibly hard recommend. However it is good enough that if you are a fan of the genre you should pick it up. I would however recommend, of course, Vampire survivors, Death Must Die, and Halls of Torment ahead of this The biggest thing that I have a gripe with is that there is almost no feedback to the damage. Hitting enemies doesn't feel satisfying and if I get hit I have no idea. I am not exaggerating when I say every death except one, I have no idea what killed me Another…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is full of tiny bugs, and things that just don't make sense. Almost nothing is explained and the game is frustratingly easy to die to all kinds of random things on the screen that you probably won't even see due to it's clogged up display. There are easily a dozen other survivor games you could buy with your money that are better than this. Edit: The more I play the worse it gets. After the second level, just forget about being able to actually play this game. Mechanics in each…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a 10/10 game to relax and play. I love the art and gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I've ever played a more frustrating Survivors-like. The aesthetics are great with the pixel sprites looking clean, the music is energetic and high effort, and a lot of the upgrades turn characters from one off-runs into your own personal character as you upgrade their stats, gear, and abilities. However, that's where the problems start. First off, this game tells you nothing, no tutorials, no guides. If you hate when a game wastes your time because of a mechanic or a specific…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once I found that the stats were not just a display and they could be upgraded, then everything else fell into place and progression made sense. After that the game was pretty great!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Brotato game Remedium Sentinels Achilles Survivor Scarlet Tower Halls of Torment I tried to keep it to swarm survivors
unlabelledView post →It's not a bad game, but it's very unpolished and it gets unplayable very fast due to poor performance. Just by selecting the last level, base corruption + nightmare modifier, and the game will keep having low FPS spikes and freezes whenever you level up, use your ult, or simply attack a big group of enemies, and you will most likely die when it happens. Lack of polish includes, but is not limited to: grammar mistakes; double unlocks; unlocks that don't trigger; unlocks that trigger when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOO MUCH GRINDING!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the worst game I've played in this genre. If you pick anything other than the skeleton minions you messed up. They deal 20k dmg each hit, and my other weapons hit for... 70? I died 2 times and got 300 gold, then I won one game and I got 400k+. The balancing in this game is truly atrociously awful. Whoever is in charge of the balancing needs to find another job Even though the game only cost 3 dollars, I went through the trouble of refunding it just to not give any amount of money to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →vampire survivor with an additional level of build crafting, rpg stats, item rarities and selectable difficulty modifiers that helps keep things fresh, im happy to recommend this whole heartedly to anyone interested in the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very easy to play this game with just three fingers on my left hand, leaving my right hand to stroke my cats. Playing games that take two hands are the reason I only have three fingers left on my left hand. Kittehs do not appreciate being ignored!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a very good buy. It has a Raiden Project feel, set in a medieval setting. Some of the boards are very unique and really fun to play. Some what repetitive but honestly that's part of the fun if you really need to take your mind off of life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10. Looks and sounds much better than Vampire Survivor's but just isn't as much fun to play. Weapons and upgrades feel generic and not that different from each other, even. What mechanics that are novel, are not explained at all. I was starting to feel bored just 3 hours in.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →gets worse with each update
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a fun game... Mostly because it is a complete rip-off of Vampire Survivor, but I can't recommend it because the bugs are bad enough to completely ruin it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Ur alive U died Came bk stronger to die again 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty fun, good meta progression, plenty of unlocks, character variety. However, I cannot recommend this game because even with the 2.0 update, the one-shot mechanics are ridiculous. You'll be cruising along, leveling up, not being challenged by much, losing a bit of health here and there, and then you get the defeat screen with no indication of what killed you. This is especially problematic because there is no way to turn down the effects on the screen and at anything past the first…
