Devespresso has created an original puzzle point-and-click game called Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood with a 'Groundhog Day' approach. The cool humor and original art style made me curious, but is the full game experience worth it as well? Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood has clearly gotten their inspiration from The Wizard of Oz. Our protagonist is the lead singer of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is fun and the gameplay is solid. The biggest problem Scarlett Hood, as mentioned by many reviews before this, is the game does not explain or give enough clues to solve many of the problems. This is a real problem when you advertise the game as a puzzler. Playing becomes a lesson in frustration as you scour the level for details on how to solve a problem, only to turn to Youtube to find the solution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A splash of Wizard of Oz, a blop of Red Riding Hood, and a dash of some southern accents Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood follows, you guessed it, Scarlet who dreams to be the star she believes she was meant to be. She happens to have gathered herself one heck of a band, calling themselves Foxtrot Bop, and they got their first big gig! Not to mention that they have a chance of being signed a deal as an agent (Savannah) from Wicked Records would be there. While they did end up being late and…

Code was supplied by the developer, free of charge. Scarlet Hood is a genre mix between side-scroller and point & click. It's one of those games that tries to mix a bunch of ideas and ends up being a pretty fun time. For presentation, you've got some Wizard of Oz vibes going on for the premise and the visual…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This a fun little game. The puzzles aren't mind boggling, but they aren't trivial either. It can take some thought to get through them, though all the clues necessary to solve them are generally located nearby. Each area is fairly short, but there are multiple ways to get through them so the game actually has some replayability. The art is great and the controls are intuitive. Overall it's a very well made game. The story is pretty straightforward though. I could see the plot twist coming well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood (from now on SH) is a modern retelling of the classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It’s a delightful point and click game with a significant number of puzzles. The visual and audio design, the writing and a solid gameplay make of SH an excellent product I would recommend to anyone, patient enough to take notes, without hesitation. Pros ✓ Beautiful art and sound design ✓ An engaging story with well written and partially voiced dialogues ✓ Multiple solutions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright IDK how people finished the game so fast. I think I'm pretty good at puzzles and some of the puzzles in here were hard. There are very few clues for solving so it is a rough ride tryin got solve some of the puzzles. There are a lot of hidden sequences as well, slight alternative endings depending on you clearing certain hurdles in the game. The worst part of this game has got to be the damage/poison, new players won't know how to deal with it and you can get camped basically so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun game with some really gorgeous art. Though some of the puzzles can be a bit vague and the clues can be really confusing (I still have no idea how I solved the last bull's gate puzzle, random attempts did it for me). Also, the entire story of the opening segment feels mostly unrelated to the rest of the game. But all in all, it's a good game with some really good visual treat and decent story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art is fantastic. Setting is pretty good. Writing is unbearably awful: LITERALLY EVERY NOTABLE CHARACTER I SAW SPOKE IN A STEREOTYPE HEAVY SOUTHERN DIALECT. My last straw was main girl having another girl tell her shes "having a wardrobe malfunction" referring to her missing the full witch outfit apparently needed to cast magic and being like "u giving me fashion advice what are you Queer Eye". Been ages since I played a game with dialogue so terrible it breaks immersion with each and every…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1XUCIkIqrc From the developers of The Coma series comes a fun and adventurous game about Scarlett Hood. A girl who was initially in a band but has now somehow been transported into a fabled and wicked woods, filled with cute munchkins and fairytale like characters. The gameplay plays as the character reliving and going through the same day over and over, and the quest is to guide yourself and your 'band' out of the woods. Because of there being multiple…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is strange: it is an adventure with puzzles for the most part, but it also forces a few difficult timed mini challenges on the player and embraces action elements in a form of evasive movement and a single survival-style super enemy. I still recommend playing it but note that "Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood" is a weird mix.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art and music in this game is absolutely GORGEOUS, it's a fantastic experience. I got extremely frustrated with some of the puzzles, but I was able to tough it out with the help of a guide LOL. I was surprised to see the game was developed by a Korean team, with what an outstanding job they did portraying a game set in the American south. A word of warning, make SURE you rescue anyone you find BEFORE achieving the objective for each part of the Wood. It takes you right back to the base…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit cringe, but surprisingly compelling for something clearly made on a shoestring. no DEI detected.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is like Coma 2, but randomly lewd and with jokes, more focused on puzzles.

Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood puts you in the red sneakers of Scarlet, country girl and lead singer in the band Foxtrot Bop who's hoping she and her band will make it big. But don't get too attached to the intro: pretty soon you won't be in Kentucky anymore.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent puzzle game. The introductions to puzzles are unfair at times and the overall walkable areas are covered with unnecessay enemies. However, the music is SO GOOD. Animations work fine and the engine works great. Give it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this, though the fact you can be damaged/killed in a puzzle game is a little annoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its essentially a point and click adventure but it can kind of feel like a metroidvania at times due to the dungeony style map, the consumables for stamina and health boosts, enemy encounters and having to find items to unlock new areas etc. If your purely into point and click adventure then don't let that last sentence scare you away, these other elements are not the focus of the game its still very much a point and click adventure. Pros - The graphics are nice. - The puzzle design was fairly…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gay, shallow characters, stupid dialogues. The music and background art is good though. Would not recommend playing it.

Full review: https://www.keengamer.com/articles/reviews/pc-reviews/scarlet-hood-and-the-wicked-wood-review-kentucky-fied-trickin/ Devespresso Games' attempt in bringing fairy tales to life in their own way is an admirable, if not entirely original effort. With a solid array of puzzles and poppy visuals, there's enough to like throughout that will eagerly please those fond of Point & Click-likes of yesteryear. Though the choice to forego Early…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A dare I say beautiful take on the popular & beloved Wizard of Oz with small alterations such as upbeat jazz music, funny Alabama accent, and a loveable main character, this game’s Dorothy. The puzzles for the most part are sensible except the cave puzzle. I think it’s fair to say that we must retrieve the lion’s courage, the scarecrow’s brain, and the Tin Man’s heart, but also it’s fair to slap whoever designed the cave puzzle. It was infuriating. Beyond that, what we have here is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very cool game that has a lot going for it. But it’s totally not polished, especially when you try to get the other endings. It focuses on story and puzzles. There are at least 7 endings depending on the route you take. You have 7 lives where a day is repeated after dying (only in terms of plot). You can try to change your fate by either focusing on the heroes, special powers or items. You have to pick one of those three in 3 main areas, you will then have a fourth area without…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. Puzzles are lame. Way too much dialogue. Did not enjoy at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've really enjoyed the art and story for Scarlet Hood. its a fun little adventure with charm and humor. Haven't finished it yet , but I have enjoyed the game so far. It controls well and the puzzles haven't been impossible. they make sense if you put some thought into it. Theres been a few instances where i would have to play again to go back and choose a different path , so it looks like you cant get all possibilities in one play through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was a really fun pick me up with interesting puzzles and some very nice atmosphere. Characters are charming and the overall colours are very aesthetically pleasing. Even tho there was one part of the game that just made no sense to me, I'd highly recommend those who enjoy a good adventure puzzle game to pick this up and give it a shot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cute game that you can play in your free time, on Mac, and literally on autopilot! The game really doesn't ask much from you, as there's literally one combat mechanic to learn and even that is autopilot. One thing I do have to say is some of the puzzles can be unnecessarily hard or time consuming to complete. I spent a few hours going in circles in the catacombs with zero instructions from the game on what to do to get out of this. It's a good thing that there's just enough tutorials…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute narrative puzzle game inspired by The Wizard of Oz
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute puzzler. The clues are there and logical. Nothing moon-logicy. Graphics are good and controls aren't bad. One annoyance is that you if you finish the main thing in an area, the area ends and you can't find the other things there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is surprisingly pretty good if you can get past the main character's silly outfit. It's an adventure game with more of a Wizard of Oz theme. It has great music, decent puzzles and a lot of variety. It's mostly very easy and I was able to brute force most of the puzzles with random guesses. A couple puzzles are very difficult, and you will probably need a guide if you want to unlock all the endings. Unfortunately, the graphics aren't great and sometimes the graphics don't make it clear…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I joined the thigh enjoy because of this game ;P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd rather give it a neutral review but as this is not an option I will err towards negative. The game is not too bad and the design of characters and locations is very appealing, but that's pretty much everything the game has to offer at the end of the day. It feels like this was made by separate teams without much thought about consistent style and feel, but that's not too much of a problem. To me a bigger problem is that Scarlet Hood hints to some kind of a deep story and lore but fails to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute casual game with a story heavily based on the Wizard of Oz and plenty of easter eggs to notice on subsequent playthroughs. There's a lot of complaints about the puzzles. All i have to say about that is this is not a game for the impatient. Two skills you need for this game's puzzles are observation and logical thinking, with observation being the more important one. If you're stuck, then it's highly likely that you missed an important clue or detail. Also note that some clues have to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice and funny game with great soundtrack and visuals and puzzles aren't that complicated, you just need to pay attention ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, if a bit short. Characters and situations you find yourself in are some of the best parts, comedy with slight horror elements. Replayable since you have various different ways of solving things leading to different endings. Gotta enjoy Puzzling at least a bit, since those are spread out throughout the game. Near the very end they also increase in intensity and feel a bit forced.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you want a fun puzzle game with a story, great music and funny characters.....Then this is your game. This game is so much fun, the puzzles are challenging yet not to hard. The story is good and funny.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cute and I enjoyed it, seems like there's a bit of replay value since there are multiple endings since you can solve each chapter a couple of different ways. But I wouldn't necessarily say there's a ton of it, since you're going to have to repeat a fair amount of the same stuff. Also, the sort of run and dodge elements are very tacked on and mostly unnecessary when it's mostly just a walk around puzzler. But they're simple enough that they didn't drag anything for me. I you can get it on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the good old: point and click, escape the room type of puzzle game but fairy tale references. Some really good puzzles to make you think and make you feel like a genius when you manage to solve them. With what appears to be 3 endings (with some variations depending on what you did to solve the final puzzle of each area) you'll stroll through some areas to get hints, get items, sometimes avoid the big bad wolf and buy stuff to aid you in your journey. Overall, hoping for a sequel or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wobbled back and forth on this one, but ultimately? It's an old-timey adventure game, and we always need more of those. This one's different to, say, a SCUMMVM game, where the strengths are usually the voice acting and puzzle design. Here the strengths are the art and the music. The puzzles aren't quite "moon logic" but there were a couple points where I had to look up the solutions, and the gameplay is interspersed with characters hunting or fighting you. I didn't like this system AT…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles have hints that are seen on the walls. Unfortunately for puzzles 2 onwards the hints make no sense when compared to the solution. The 3rd puzzle I could not get anywhere with as its timed and you have 4 seconds to work out what to do. I got nowhere and rather than waste more of my timing seeing how others had done it on the internet I gave up. The puzzles are infuriating and don't seem to match the hints.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood is a story-driven adventure that leans heavily into fairy-tale imagery while experimenting with time loops, branching narratives, and puzzle-focused progression. Developed by Devespresso Games and published by Headup, the game places players in the role of Scarlet, a young woman whose life has already taken a rough turn before she is quite literally swept away into a strange magical world. After being caught in a tornado, Scarlet awakens in the land of Glome,…

There's also a secret room that allows you to get certain items and put you in a certain place in the game.. but it was a no go..... every cutscene or a dialog, bricks the game.. so you need to restart it... the only good of it is to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game. I love the art style, lore, and soundtrack. My only issue with the game was with the puzzles. I wish there were more clues or hints to solve some of the puzzles, as they don't seem to make sense. Apart from that, it is a great game. You have to play multiple times to collect everything and see all the endings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood is a game about breaking into the music industry. Or maybe it's about cute witches, who knows. Anyway, the puzzles are enjoyable for the most part, the graphics look great and the soundtrack ain't bad either. Scarlet Hood might not be a masterpiece, and avoiding the enemies is more of a slight hassle than a necessary gameplay component, but overall the game is a really solid and worth your time. 4/5
