Safecracker: The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure is a 2006 puzzle adventure game developed by Kheops Studio and published by The Adventure Company. It is the spiritual successor to Daydream Software's 1997 title Safecracker. Safecracker was also released on Steam on August 29, 2007. Not too fancy, since the main gameplay consists ONLY of the sets of typical mini-trials like "connect the pipes" and "magic square", or cracking some random code pieces, like "turn letters to numbers and vice versa". Some of the the puzzles were almost hair pulling out worthy, but the rest were pretty decent and so satisfying to solve. I enjoyed having the voice over( nice plummy voice reminiscent of the old BBC documentaries) and the graphics were beautiful; I want to live in that house/mansion!

It uses prox sensors for all the rollover lanes, so all the lanes up top by the jets, the loops, and the inlanes/outlanes are completely smooth. It plays like a rocket.

Honestly the hour and change I have on record is mainly due to attempted troubleshooting to fix graphical errors and game crashes. When I was able to play it was fine, visually it is detailed and clear (as far as the first 2 puzzles anyway). I can't say much about the story line because of the aforementioned issues.

Shouldn't be necessary to get a game to run, even through compatability mode, by disabling basic parts of your computer to even see the game beyond a black screen and ear-decimating loud music.

But imo not really worth the hassle of getting it to run on modern hardware. I got my copy working with dgVooDoo2 but even still had issues with sound and animations throughout. For something similar from the same era, I'd recommend looking at the Myst series, or for a modern alternative, try "Blue Prince"!

Text and vital parts of the interface are missing or flickering in and out, the cursor is entirely invisible and the voice audio is gone. Virtually unplayable on modern systems, it seems, which is sad to see. I did try with compatibility mode for older operating systems, but to no avail. On this basis I cannot recommend the game anymore.
