Developer Origin8 Technologies Ltd.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a construction and management simulation video game developed by Origin8 Technologies and published by Atari. The game is a port of both RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 combined into a single game; both games were originally created by Chris Sawyer for the PC and utilize the same game engine. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic also includes RollerCoaster Tycoon's two… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The user interface in this version is such a mess. Everything feels much less efficient and difficult to do. Yeah the core game behind it is fine, but the user interface rework is absolutely not. If you bought this version of the game, do yourself a favor and get OpenRCT2 to play instead. It'll automatically discover and use the game data from RCT Classic, and the user interface will actually work properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to give this a thumbs up because of what game it is but apparently they broke the game back in march (2026) and haven't fixed it still as of august (2026) even though plenty of people have been vocal about the issues. It used to run great but now it's basically unplayable. You can't zoom out too far or it crashes. When building things you get a green ghost of where you're placing it but sometimes that will get stuck and glitch out and you have to restart to fix it. Gridlines on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game ever! Use Shift + U to make the GUI bigger if you use a screen with 2K or more resolution :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a lifelong RCT fan this version just falls flat. OpenRCT2 fixed pretty much all problems the original games had, like high DPI monitor support, test running coasters while building and much more. RCT Classic feels like a half assed attempt to copy OpenRCT2 while making sure it loses as much of the original charme as possible with its hideous interface.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most of those who had nostalgia for this game played it after getting it from a cereal box. Meanwhile, I grew up playing this game when they had it pre-installed on school computers. The greatest educational video game of all time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still doesn't get old after 25 years. They really broke the mold with this one. Ain't broke, never fix it. All time fave.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like rct3, but this game was and is perfection. Planet Coaster feels like everything and nothing. Or maybe they're just too complicated and I miss the simpler golden age games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very good game. i think for the price, you can get 200+ hours of content beating all the scenarios. i havent beaten all of them (yet) but most of them. pretty cheap and pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still the best Roller Coaster theme park simulator ever
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love RTC from the very day it dropped on the pc back in the early 00s. got this because of my fond memories has a teen playing this.. great price.. works on a M4 Mac Air
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is RCT1 and RCT2 + expansions bundled together with fixes to make gameplay more approachable on todays standards. Widescreen support is top notch upgrade when you can actually take a look and control of your park on literally wider perspective. Mixing all the content together makes it sure that there is insane amount of gameplay for hundreds and hundreds of hours. Doubt that the interest will last that long, but it is assured that you are not done in one or two sessions with this game! Is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike me, this game doesn't get old. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic has become one of those games that I return to once a year, and I get obsessed with it every time. I adore this game. It's packed with scenarios and objects to get creative with. The UI and isometric view felt awkward at first, but now I love it. I love working within the game's limitations and learning the robust sim elements. The physics make sense and micromanaging my park feels great. I have put 100 hours into the game, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A convenient and more modern way to play an absolute retro classic! Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic is Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2 in a more modern package that runs better on modern systems! and it runs pretty well and is easy to pick up and play! Another bonus is if you want to use OpenRCT2 this game will also work for that package too! and runs perfectly fine! My only complaint is the price is a bit too high for what is a very minor upgrade to an old game, pick up the originals and use…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best game that has ever been made. Why does this game still hold up? Why is it still demanding my attention after 27 years? Because its simple, and that's all it needs to be. There was a time when games were just meant to be fun. No long cut scenes, no character building, no craft systems, and no microtransactions. Sometimes games today get caught up so much in graphics or realism, they forget why we play games in the first place. For comfort, for fun, and for peace. That's why RCT…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be tempted by the statement that this game contains the best of RCT1 and RCT2. This game is primarily focused on RCT2, lacks a lot of quality-of-life features and RCT1 mechanics, and has adapted all the RCT1 content that is included to the RCT2 game. For instance, it lacks landscape textures and terrain editing capabilities (which are limited), and maps do not support both admission and attraction prices simultaneously (RCT1 style), this has been adjusted to RCT2. In my opinion, it is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh man, where to start? Like so many others, this was THE game to have in the early computer game days, it was just miles beyond the competition. I've had it since the 90's and always find a way to come back to it. What I found out years later, is that it was all done by one man using Assembly language, which is why it seemed to be decades ahead of it's time. I knew I had to get this one and I had bought the Deluxe edition on Steam as well, but this is the one you want. I have over 400 hours…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love it, childhood dream to have this game is accomplished. would love to have accomplishments in steam tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ancient. It looks ancient. Sounds ancient. It's all ancient. And it's still pure 24K Gold
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is perfect! Loved it back in the day and still do! Nothing beats the classics! Definitely a Good Old Game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would refund the game if I could...do not waste your money...glitched out and deleted all my saved progress - common bug according to reddit and they do nothing about it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game. It gives you stuff to do while you wait for cash. Very easy and simple to use editor. Tons of different rides and coaster types. Very good for 1999 but I only recommend if its on sale because I got it for $5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally figured out how to play it properly, only 27 years later. Beautiful game. I can't believe it was made by one guy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great throwback to the management simulations of the early 2000's. If you remembered playing this game or age of empires, warcraft, etc, you will get your money's worth out of RTC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play this game as a child and it is still such a good game today!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best version of the original game. It includes all of the expansions plus some of the items and options that are only available in roller coaster tycoon 2.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could seem a bit strange, but this game is really addictive. Just making another small correction of the price of Mary-Go-Round, but suddenly it appears that all your benches around are broken. Making new benches, setting up a trash bins, but accidentally noticing a big queue to small railroad. Need to find a solution for this… So how did even 4h passed??
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes I would because It has all of RCT 1 & 2 as well as both Expansion Packs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely adore this game, and I have logged many hours on it. The game play itself and the quality of the game are wonderful-- but the game continually is unable to sync to Steam's Cloud and you aren't able to save your individual level completion files locally, meaning you can often lose a lot of progress (if not all of it.) It can be very frustrating to make so much progress in the game and then be forced back several levels or tiers because of save issues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty fun but it keeps crashing on me while playing. I suggest saving often. I got the game on sale so I can't complain too much. Just be warry.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game as a kid and loved it then so i played it again and loved it! Its a quick time killer and its just fun. You get to name EVERYTHING which is always fun. If you want something fun to do while not putting too much into it this is the game for you. I literally just got off work and am doing this its fun to see how I can make different parks and stuff and see what I can do with them. Idk I liked it and maybe yall will too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic. I played as a teenager and now my daughters started playing. I hope I live enough to see my grandkids playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this when I was a kid, wanted to check it out again, but nah. Buggy mess. Played a few scenarios and I've been losing my mind with karts and guests getting stuck, props glitching into each other and don't even ask me about placing benches on elevated paths. And not only is there no option added to create hills when adjusting land height, this feature is in exclusive to scenario editor but it's literally bugged and not working. Just get the original games instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still a lot of fun. No crashes so far on a lower level PC. It stutters a bit too often but that's probably just my PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ultra classic mega banger
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game for years. Really fun business simulator that makes you think strategically. I love the graphics on the classic pack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who played the original Rollercoaster Tycoon game plus both its sequels, the series is a fantastic theme park builder and, really, is to Theme Park Management Sims what Sim City is to City Management Sims. Other park manager sims have taken many of the concepts of RCT and built on them but RCT remains a high water mark for the genre. Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic is a merger of both the original RCT game plus its expansion packs, AND RCT2 and its expansions! It offers both of those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game, love the sprites and dimensions
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's not the original version and i bought it knowing that and enjoyed the game anyway. i was going to give this a thumbs-up but i saw it was 22 bucks (i assume i bought it on sale) which is insane so thumbs-down
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not grow up playing the original, so I didn't have any nostalgia for this. The only reason it was on my radar was because I heard that it was developed using Assembly code, which is absurd, so I was curious. I'm not huge on the management genre of games, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this. But after playing it for a little bit, I can definitely see how people can get sucked in and play for hours on end. I assumed you would just make 1 park and maintain it for as long as you can,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RCT Classic is the easiest way to get Rollercoaster tycoon running on modern hardware with nice quality of life improvements. I still think OpenRCT2 is still the BEST way to experience this series, but buying both RCT 1 and 2, AND installing OpenRCT2 on top of that may be a barrier of entry beyond what some are willing to invest. With RCT Classic, it has most of the same improvements from the moment you install it. If you're just getting your feet wet with Rollercoaster tycoon, this is the way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game with no bugs and a satisfying learning curve. The satisfaction of guests loving your creations is powerful. Proof that the best video games shine through their ideas, not graphics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loved how it brought me back in time to my childhood.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Freaking loved this game as a kid and still do. Timeless art style. There is SO MUCH LOVE in this. Beats out any modern park manager on it's visual charm alone. Nothing like drowning an unhappy visitor in a pond.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome relaxing game to pass the time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time flies in this relaxing game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ride Never Ends...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great for everyone and anyone, the rollercoaster tycoon games are some of the best out there by far. This game has little to no problems, although it is easy to get soft locked early game. My computer is very prone to overheating and this game is the best a game has ran on my computer in a long time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game when you are bored. You can play this game for hours. Also with your kids.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is still awesome and addictive after more than 2 decades! I love the nostalgia of the graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like this 2d form better than their 3d games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →have been playing this game since it first came out and you can get them in cereal boxes lol. love it and it never gets old to me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too bad the interface is such a disaster. Why not emulating the original interface with a zoom option? Its nearly impossible to use with a macbook screen as its too small and you can't zoom. Also, moving a pointer to the edge of the screen to pan the map doesn't work for the "up" direction because it shows the window bar instead. There is no music playing just random sounds unrelated to the rides I built. Too bad because most of it is there but the missing bits of the original game experience…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an incredible version of the classic 1999 video game RollerCoaster Tycoon. It combines the best elements from both the first and second game. RCT Classic is a sandbox that truly requires strategy. This game is a realistic roller coaster simulator where you run different amusement parks. I have much more than 100 hours on mobile, and 10+ on PC. This game runs on truly anything, has incredible music, art, and enjoyable gameplay. Gameplay: 9/10 - Could use a couple more non-time related…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to adjust for inflation prices in my head but its literally my only complaint.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roller coaster go brrrrrrrrr
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game locks up, won't load
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, lots of content and nostalgia. Worth the 20. Runs well on MacOS.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brings back my childhood! 😍 Absolutely brilliant and really enjoy playing it just as much as I did back then. I think this remastered version has made a few things visually better - Would 100% recommended. Been playing on my PC.
