This game is basically the new solitaire or minesweeper on windows for us millenials, its easy to run on any machine, and timeless classic that Ill teach my kids to play too. AAA can lick my doggy bone, this is the game to play of the ages!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just will NOT work on Windows 11 normally. It refuses to run and If you use "run with Windows 95 Compatability" it will sometimes open to the main menu before crashing if you're lucky. The only way to play it is to use Open RCT2 and point that program at the game files. Both the first and second games crash either at the main menu or just before you reach the main menu. What's the sense of posting these games if they crash and you can't use them? Edit: that mod doesn't even make…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the peak game of games. There will never ever be a game like RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill ever, ever again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I miss my physical copy that came in a Honey nut Cheerios cereal box way back in 2004 :( 10/10 game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played time doesn't tell the whole story due to OpenRCT2. Also, get OpenRCT2 if you own this game. Playing this game on an ultrawide with all of that screen real estate is amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is nostalgic for me. I played it a lot as a kid and didn't understand it at all, but enjoyed building rides. Now that I'm older I can navigate some of the managerial portions of the game. Plus, if you are ever feeling a twinge of evil, you can build an incomplete rollercoaster, over accelerate the escape hatch ride or build a bathroom without a way to get to it (rubs hands together diabolically whilst smiling with evil). Anywho, it's a great game! I'm also a huge fan of pixel art and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun to build death traps and endless cycles to torture guests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game rules, but not as much as when you couple it with Open RCT2, look it up if you haven't heard of it, it makes this game 100x better and it was obviously great already.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a theme park enthusiast, this game is absolute perfection. im so sad I only found out about it in the year of our lord 2026. Like almost everyone else, I recommed playing it alonside OpenRCT2 for the graphics improvements and scenario creation posibilities. Holds up amazingly after all these years!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The official Roller Coaster Tycoon Twitter/X account posted a letter of recommendation for any of its players looking for jobs. Based game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 follows up on the success of the first game and is a gem in the simulation genre that stands the test of time. While the game as released in 2002 is already a top-notch experience, it is recommended to install OpenRCT2, which is an open-source and freely available reimplementation of the game. This, once integrated with the game files that must be purchased to play the game, provides a great deal of quality of life updates and modern capabilities that enhances the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A sequel to one of the best video games of all time, and it's even better now with OpenRCT2. Way back when, 8 year old me got this game in a cereal box, and it single-handedly changed my life. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is arguably the most iconic tycoon game ever made besides maybe the first game. NOTE: Just like the first game, this game tends to crash quite a bit on modern systems if you don't use OpenRCT2. This doesn't make the game unplayable by any means, but it does mean that you should…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy first game with this, download OpenRCT2, and enjoy best of both worlds in one. Very good simulator game with solid mechanics. Clearly was made before graphics became the primary concern for Devs. If you're on the edge of RCT 2 or 3, just get both. They shine in their own lights however RCT 2 comes still from the hands of a legend. Respect to the classics. USE GOG FOR THE OG GAMES. SCREW THESE DRM MEGA DORKS
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get the OpenRCT2 mod bump the res and combine RCT1 its all in one great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally bought this so I can play OPENRCT2. I wish I got it sooner, all of the QOL changes and mods available are fantastic. I also changed it so when I launch this title, it actually opens OPENRCT2. Still possibly the best theme park manager game ever made
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I decided to get this game on sale and was just blown away by the scope of creativity this game offers. You are given a piece of land and it's all yours to build your own theme park. The best part is the community plugin - Open RCT2 which takes everything to the next level: plugins, multiplayer as well as updated support for today's hardware. If you can look past some dated graphics, you will have one hell of a ride with this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Use this bad boy to get OpenRCT2 going and you're golden, baby. It's an absolute timeless classic that exists in a really good state both graphically and mechanically compared to tycoons of today. It's also dirt cheap, so you really cannot go wrong.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This right here. Has got to be the best Tycoon game I ever played in my life. RollerCoaster Tycoon has been with me throughout my life ever since I was a kid and I'm now 23, going back into this game to just have fun and build coasters and your park just... idk brings joy. Everytime I completed a park I felt happiness that I was able to bring this barren old place that I was given and made it something great. Even though these days it doesn't look like RollerCoaster Tycoon will ever be back and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd like to say "I want to get off Mr. Bones' Wild Ride", but I find myself in a predicament where I enjoy it too much.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roller Coaster Tycoon1 and this sequel, are now classics in their own right. You choose a scenario and then manage a theme park, designing rollercoasters, placing concession stands, hiring staff, and tweaking prices to stay profitable. The game is old, looks it and feels it, with many quality of life features absent that make playing the game a bit of a slog. Luckily a mod exists, Open RCT2, that adds those much needed features like allowing you to adjust the resolution better and giving you a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was the first proper video game I ever played. I got it in a box of cinnamon cheerios back in September 2004 or so. This game is the pinnacle of childhood video game nostalgia for the very simple reason that it was my first. I'd recommend using OpenRCT2 after buying this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came for the roller coasters. I stayed for the tiny people screaming. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is old in the best possible way. The graphics are simple, the menus feel from another era, and sometimes the pathing makes you question everything. But once you start building rides, placing food stalls, adjusting ticket prices, and designing coasters that probably should not pass any safety inspection, the game becomes very hard to stop playing. There is something very satisfying about watching…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great old-school game, and you can download Open RCT2 and link it to your Steam game for even more great features and gameplay options. I enjoy that you can play the basic game, designing and building your theme park and meeting the goals, or you can get more adventurous and design your own roller coasters. it is a combo of strategy, whimsy, and fun. You can even design your own scenarios & challenges if you are really adventurous.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably played this for hundreds and hundreds of hours as a kid after I installed this from my cousins disk. It ain't nostalgia it's just perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The classic you know and love. Still excellent over 20 years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Running this game together with OpenRCT2 is the best way to go. It's free, and open-source. Basically just allows the game to run a lot smoother on modern hardware. You're also able to automatically launch OpenRCT2 by heading into Properties > General > Launch Options > (wherever your OpenRCT2 is located) %command% so you can track your playtime. Generally, the game is fine for 10 bucks, but I'd still wait for a sale as it happens very often. 8/10.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pleasantly surprised the game seems to work flawlessly on Mint Linux out of the box with Steam handling compatability. Open RCT2 exists for anyone who does have troubles. An absolutely classic game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels very nostalgic to be playing this game in 2026. I grew up playing the Tycoon games back in late 90's/early 00's...

Fast forward to now — I discovered OpenRCT2, installed it on a whim, and somehow lost another 116 hours of my life. No regrets. This game had its hooks in me in 2002 and apparently nothing has changed. The Good: The core gameplay loop is genuinely unmatched. No…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing RCT2 since I was 8, and now I'm approaching 30. It's an excellent retro game that is just as good now as it was when I was a child, though I have a much better understanding of the game now. I'll try to review it for a modern audience's expectations, since if you're looking for the classic/nostalgia then you probably already know the game quite well. The Triple Thrill pack is worth noting for returning players, you get more themes, scenarios, and items than in the base…

That is a reference to South Park which this game also resembles with its little guys walking alover the place. Now this is a real blast to the past… Invent uour own inane thrill rides or shuffle the park gusets thru a confusing maze, you can do it all in Roller Coatser Tycooon 2! My computer actually failed to play this gane without ruining my whole pc so I reccoommend geting a older pc…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is it, right here. Its THE game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game from my childhood
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes every time I try to load a saved game from the main menu, if the window has been minimized and then reopened or the PC has been on sleep mode. Also crashes when I try to quit the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Custom roller coasters! Classic fun that I poured hours into in high school. The attention to detail in the animations and mechanics is impressive, and it runs smoothly even with 50 roller coasters and 1k guests in the park. I use the free OpenRCT2 mod to add more stuff, but even the base game is one of the best simulation games ever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →<3 Childhood game that still runs great on modern computers. What more is there to say? Buy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing with OpenRCT2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still the best to ever do it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Starting for the first time... Never thought I'd see that message again, wow. 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is broken for modern systems and would need something like OpenRCT2 to run, but i didn't like the UI scaling factor of OpenRCT2 on my 2k monitor. The UI is WAY WAY too small, but you can scale it in the settings. However, it also scales the game environment and degrades the pixel quality very notably, especially when zoomed out, and there was no solution I found except to buy RollerCoaster Tycoon CLASSIC. Classic looks better on modern displays. It might not have all the fan made…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, I love the planning aspect of it. I played this as a kid and definitely didn't fully understand it then and honestly I'm not sure I fully understand it now but its a great game for creativity, planning and resource management. I'd definitely recommend it though I would say nowadays the modded version is probably best as the original game doesn't run well if at all on many modern systems. I like the building mechanics and the customizability as well as the layout of the menus its all…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →works perfectly on windows 11. guy below me is just a pleb. I have over 1000 hours on this game when it was on disc as a kid. I don't think we will ever get a tycoon game as good as this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its just a classic. If you like building things, enjoy rollercoasters or killing your park guests, this is the game for you. It also runs on just about anything.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic simulator game that has aged well. Just a good little game
