positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That game is insanely fun. Hi-Fi Rush/Sunset Overdrive/Ratchet & Clank/Jak & Daxter/Jet Set Radio fans, this one is made for you! I love the tight gameplay and the overall art direction!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Came into this expecting fast, momentum based movement, and was disappointed upon sprint-jumping and losing all momentum. Game isn't necessarily bad, but keep this in mind if you want something with a high speed. Feels more like an old-school 3d platformer a la Ratchet + Clank. Again, not exactly a bad thing, just not what I thought I was signing up for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>momentum based game >jump >lose all momentum the game is SOOOO slow and the psychonouts 2 quality combat really doesn't help this game music and art are great tho, but it is really not enought
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm digging this game so far, and I'll try to explain why in relation to some of the criticism it's been getting (because I think that will be more useful for prospective buyers). It is fairly slow-paced, but I don't mind this because I prefer slower-paced platformers over the ones where you go ultra fast anyway. If you're expecting something like Sonic Adventure then this is not your game, but if you want something closer to Super Mario Galaxy 2 or the Crash Bandicoot games (in terms of speed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam really needs that neutral review. I don't wanna sht on the game, it's not bad per se, but man is it boring. I for one have seen more then enough and I'm refunding. The style is cool, music is cool, but the gameplay is just booooring. Maybe it gets more exciting later, but I'm just falling asleep over here after the first boss fight. The game is way too slow, the enemies are very basic...and all you can do it typical platformer stuff (glide, slide, dash and 1 normal attack). Also the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's decent, but could be better. 5/10. A 3D platformer that has emphasis on going fast with some of the challenges want you to clear the level in under 2 minutes, but the movement is not satisfying to make me want to go fast. You don't keep your momentum when jumping. No new mechanics to make you go fast other than hold L2 for 90% of the time. The platforming sections can be fun, with later areas gets more difficult, although you don't get introduced with new platforming mechanics to give…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the concept and the design of the main character, but it never really comes together. It's less than the sum of it's parts. The characters, writing and presentation is aggressively boring. The movement is pretty wonky and slippery. Once you adjust you can get a good flow going but it never becomes all that fun and I rarely felt that zen you get from the best arcade or platform style games this one models itself after. It's not a bad game, but I really cant recommend it. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While its presentation is overall stylish, and the colours are bright and dopamine inducing, I was really disappointed in the gameplay. While the Graffiti bombs are gorgeous, actually bombing it requires only a left trigger, and is an afterthought to the rest of the platforming gameplay. Which leads me to my other complaint, the movement needs polish. Traversal and motion feel like they're from 2002, where the player character can face only 8 hard locked directions. It feels okay at best, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was great up until chapter 5 then for whatever reason it turned into Returnal and I did not sign up for that style of game when for the longest it was playing like a version of jet set radio on steroids. Outside of that great art style though, character design is pretty good and so is the music but that gameplay towards the later end is hit or miss at least to me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i was expecting really good stuff from this game but instead i just got a typical platformer with a jet set radio/teen rebellion-esque skin slapped onto it the levels are a bit boring and repetitive, the movement feels WAY too slow and the physics just don't feel right... the story is shown to you through visual novel form rather than through gameplay (like hi-fi rush) which is really disappointing imo overall, after playing for about 15 minutes i feel like i'm about to fall asleep
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I bought Rakugaki, it was the single lowest-rated game on my wishlist, at 75% positive. I was prepared to be disappointed, and possibly return it. It absolutely slaps. This is 3D platforming perfection. You have every move available to you from the very start of the game, and literally the only two moves I want that aren't available are 1) swing from your existing grappling hook, 2) wallride. That's it. Airdash, hover, wall jump, ground surf, everything. This game feels so good to…

unlabelledView post →It plays smooth and has a nice flow to it. I have no idea how you’re supposed to do some of the speed running challenges though. Seriously, 1:17 one level 1!? It is a good game though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid 7/10 game for most of its run and then starts throwing difficulty beyond what its gameplay can handle in the last chapter. The combat starts getting out of hand with the different enemy types that need different approaches, but also tend to clump together. finally add a boss that throws these enemies at you while also constantly shooting off attacks you need to dodge, which means you can't set up to attack the enemies the way you're supposed to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll be honest, really not for me, the platforming is too slow paced and the mechanics just really didn't vibe with me Felt like it was all style and no substance.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this expecting a Jet Set Radio game. What I didn't expect was precision 3D platforming and Nier style boss fights. Extremely stylish art. Frustrating at worst, tremendous at best. ♥♥♥♥ that final boss.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game. I wish there was a neutral option. Very colorful game but unfortunately it's missing some depth. Feels like a speed run type of game. My biggest issue is that I couldn't connect with the character and I really wanted to. Felt like I had no purpose. The other issue is that while I can appreciate a game that is inspired by another game, It felt like it was trying to be Jet Set Radio and Gravity Rush with a hint of Ghostrunner. It was missing identity and emotion, for me. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see a lot of comments about the movement being slow, in a game meant to go fast, which I originally agreed on. But after clocking in 85 hours in the game so far, this is actually an issue of a higher than normal skill floor. RKGK is not a very beginner friendly game. Not in the sense that it's too hard, you can of course get through it if you try. But in the sense that if you actually wish to get gold medals on levels, and/or move fast, you can't just think the game is going to do it for…

unlabelledView post →For a game designed around movement and flow, they sure do love to put things to slow you down; whether it's the frustrating jumping which halts a lot of forward momentum or enemies that you have to stop and kill...this, plus the final boss being quite possibly one of the most frustratingly designed experiences I've ever had, I cannot recommend this game. I finished the story but as a result, don't meet the requirements for a refund otherwise I would've done so. Perma-removed it from my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game's fun but holy jesus the final boss needs to be toned down. It's incongruous with the relative lack of difficulty in the rest of the game (died maybe three or four times leading up to it). I think it's officially killed me more than any Dark Souls boss ever did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE 3D platformers and I really, really wanted to like this game. Unfortunately, it looks like a dog's dinner on Steam Deck and couldn't run without stuttering badly on my upper-mid-range PC. 🫠
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play for very long, but the overall flow, pacing and speed of the game just felt off to me. I already saw some people praising those things, but I just felt like the movement is way too slow, not snappy enough and immediately also had the feeling that the level design does not match the movement, as walking normally is slow and the marginally faster sliding has sluggish turning, making looking around with it annoying, even though you constantly need to do that if you want all the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun movement gameplay, GORGEOUS art design (especially the 3D graffiti models).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now I saw some of the negative reviews on this game saying that it's slow and not as fast as they expected. I am here to tell you that it is fast! It's just that ironically it takes time ( a few stages) till it reveals all the skills the playable character has, and maybe as gamers we no longer have the patience to wait. So stick with game a little and you will like what you find
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One young lady vs. ugly no fun allowed uncle. I cant help but think that this is the perfect generic hentai scenario. While I had quite the good time with the game, its still difficult to recommend. Environments are mostly just very bland, theres an obvious emphasis on speed and speedrunning, yet it contradicts that by having collectibles and goals, that require you to actually go slow and explore. Speaking of which, theres no real benefit in fullfilling said goals, except getting a blue…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found "Rakugaki" to be just plain cringeworthy and uninteresting. The environments are a drab repetitive cyberpunk-ish slop. Painting them over with graffiti is such a tired metaphor it's just pitiful. The main character is what a crusty 60-year old conservative would consider "hip" and "quirky". The writing is criminally bad. The main villain is perhaps the only thing about this game's world that I'd found tolerable in a better game, but he's still nothing to write home about. The gameplay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is a Sonic game was merged with the aesthetic of Jet Grind Radio? You'd get RKGK (Rakugaki). Its a straight-forward platformer, that is pretty stylish. You need a certain amount of the key item to unlock the boss stage. There are multiple objectives for replaying a stage, in which you earn currency for cosmetics. The difficulty ramps up very nicely. The biggest problem is that the final boss's final phase has just a bit too much going on. Otherwise, I think this is a nice idea that's made…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was having a conversation with some friends recently about games that you could potentially dump hours into and defend from the influx of digital pitchforks of the internet, but there was a catch: the game had to be considered “not great.” It’s easy to defend your Halo 3’s or your favorite Final Fantasy, but it’s a much more interesting conversation when you have a game like Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain that was critically panned as average and honestly doesn’t play well, but dammit, I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>speed and momentum based platformer >slow to a crawl when jumping alright man. the combat is quite drab as well, level designs are only mildly interesting at best and even then the movement makes them flat out unfun to explore
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/_-Lm9ixq5ec ★★☆☆☆ Gameplay: Decent (Feels Repetitive) Graphics: Good Music: Good Story: Decent PC Requirements: Fast Game Time: 2 - 3 hrs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not what i wanted in a graffiti game , wish u can design your own or import artwork or just even have a spray mechanic like mark echos getting up or even jet set radio , you just push one button and there`s the artwork done, and i dont want to grind for hours to unlock new artwork, its not like jet set or getting up, The art work is i feel made by someone who is a character concept artist that was asked to do some graffiti, they can create great characters in the art work you spray but the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looks cool and fun but in reality is terribly boring and unfun with no depth or difficulty to the gameplay. Genuinely more frustrating than anything else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly the game is fun up until the later stages, where the platforming gets miserable. The last boss is an absurdly long slog that's just genuinely unpleasant to play. Waiting through incredibly long phases then getting hit with massive swarms feels less challenging and more plain unfair. Worth grabbing on sale and poking around a bit, but not worth finishing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent kinda fun gameplay that gets completely overshadowed by the terrible game design. Feels frustrating to play a lot of the time because of it. It's a shame because I would've recommended it otherwise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leftist Millennial Cringe
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's kinda like the 3D Sonic games, and yes, I do mean that in a bad way. When you can get into a flow, it feels pretty good, but the level design far too frequently throws momentum killers in your path that really put a damper on things. There are also a lot of hidden items in the levels which require you to slow down and explore, but again, this feels like it's in opposition to the fun part of the game. I'm sure they'd like for you to play each level several times to find all of the hidden…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is incredibly underwhelming and, frankly, half-baked. Mind you, the music and main character's design are pretty good, but other than those, I feel as though I've already seen everything. Visually the game is nice looking yet entirely oversaturated with deep reds and yellows that signify the obvious take over by a villian. The purple and graffiti action shots are a good pause on these, but overall the atmosphere's tone left me wanting more. The menu designs are BARE BONES, like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RKGK really brings back that feeling of playing old platformers like Crash Bandicoot and many others. The controls are pretty tight, there's a lot of speed and movement techs available to you that keep the game fresh and modern. Not to mention, there's a bunch of collectables and secrets to find so it's a nice encouragement to go back and 100% the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great platforming moveset allied with great level design allows you to go through the stages in several ways, trying to shave seconds off your best time with each try! RKGK almost snatched my GOTY pick for 2024. The sense of flow is ridiculously satisfying once you get the hang of the movements and jumps. Each move is there for a reason, with their pros and cons, like using a basic (safer) jump for more precision while losing some momentum or going faster with the dash and risk overshooting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It goes without saying the artwork is some of the best I've ever seen in a video game. The platforming and combat is solid, a nice balance between needing to develop some skills to do well in the game while also being fluid and responsive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →got boring pretty quick
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very underrated and amazing hidden gem. I loved every moment. It has so much depth in it's movement. The soundtrack is great and it's visuals are awesome. It is very well programmed and has so much customization.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RKGK / Rakugaki is an amazing 3D platformer! When it comes to the gameplay, it is honestly pretty good, it may feels clunky at first but it can be pretty smooth once you learn techniques (unfortunatly, the game doesn't teach you one extremely good mechanic, which is grappling jump). The level designs are great too! Especially the freedom you have to finish a level as fast as possible! But going for 100% can be counter intuitive from the obvious focus on the finishing level fast…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the games that surprised me the most this year was RKGK/Rakugaki. And Indie 3D Platformer that came out this year and it isn't being talked about much. So, I gotta tell you y'all why you SHOULD play this underrated game. #Youtube #Indiegame #RKGK youtu.be/OLgF_iLu0Rg
unlabelledView post →Brilliant but flawed platformer. Stylistically it feels like a mix between 3D sonic games and Jet Grind Radio. Movement is mostly fluid and can be quite fast. The camera angles are nearly always spot on too. When it's at its best it is amazing but it's not without its problems. - There are bugs where if you fall you will respawn and continue dying until you finally die. - The level 'Leap of Faith' uses a mechanic where solid surfaces only spawn from an orb under you but the orb moves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rakugaki is a blend of Sonic the Hedgehog and Jet Set Radio. Set in a blindly neon cyberpunk future, the city has been enslaved by Mr. Buff and his mind control jumbotrons. Only one person to free the citizens-- Vallah, a brash tagger. That is it for the plot. All you need to know is that this game is also about moving fast through 3D levels. You can jump, air dash, rail grind, and my favorite surf with your spray paint cans, griffiting the walls as you work up to the transmission towers at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can offer u solid platformer with challenging levels and very dope cyberpunk+graffiti aesthetics. However don’t even hope for some kind of story or interesting characters. It’s existing only as a background to the whole game. Buy this game if u wanna challenge yourself with platforming levels. (+if u like visuals)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really a fun platformer, it feels slow and sluggish but also music its meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried to like this game. I almost changed my mind until I got to the boss of world 4. I can't imagine they playtested this game because nobody would think that garbage is passable as a decent game. Imagine the most annoying enemy rush in a game you've played, now imagine it's 10 times more BS. That's what this was like. At first it seems fine, until you get to the part where the level is covered with enemies that constantly shoot at you from all directions and not the ones that you can easily…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developer Wabisabi is certainly one to keep an eye on, as it's clear they understand what makes platforming innately entertaining. The supporting presentation needs a healthy dose of polish and identity, however, as it keeps RKGK sitting squarely in the "just fine" camp of the many 3D platformers available today. Full Review: https://neoncloudff.wordpress.com/2024/06/22/now-playing-june-2024-edition/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun! I feel like the majority of people not recommending the game, didn't play it enough to get the hang of the movements available for Valah. Levels are fun, if you like retro platformer games, this is a game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a good game but not for me. it feels too slow and not enough opportunity to go fast. maybe i should just git gud
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this being sold by a friend as more of a “jak and daxter”-like platformer instead of some high flying momentum adhd one(as the description would make you think), so I got in thinking “okay sure.” If I had to relate this game to anything, it’s like being told Yooka-Laylee is a good successor. Yeah, remember that one? Jumps will slow down to accommodate more precise platforming, sure that’s fine, works in jak because he has a usual jogging speed and it’s designed around that. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game purely because of its art. But the game is not for me unfortunately. It's for speedrunning enjoyers more I feel like.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ Those Flock Cameras Up! Jet SET! RADIOOO!! + Mirrors Edge + a little bit of Splatoon Vibes + 12$ - suffers from the 3rd person camera forced zoom when wall jumping - no wall running - had to turn all the settings down to stop fatal errors
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Giving this a negative, but it really just belongs in the category of 'okay.' It feels like it goes back and forth between pretty fun to play with nice movement and speed and just visually appealing to look at, to a total slog with terrible camera angles and weirdly unfair bosses and confusing level design. If they just stuck to what made the game good it would be fine, speed, music and visuals. Instead every once and a while it becomes something noticeably less fun. I don't think it's a bad…
