Game is okay, but installing Epic Online Services without my permission is something else. It also asks me to register my PC on PlayStation's website, but it says 'This service isn't available in your country or region'. Thanks, I guess.

Very cool bullet hell but jumpscare Epic install and multiple things locked behind online functionality which requires an account makes a big no even at 2/3% off.

Another playstation port, another poorly optimized piece of junk. Gameplay was fun until I encountered the vram leak issue and suddenly my graphics went to ♥♥♥♥ and would never load again, then my PC started to run hot as hell and scream like a fighter jet. Honestly should have known there was an issue when the benchmark said it was using 100% of my GPU yet my task manager said I wasn't even using 50%. Can Sony not find competent devs to port their games to PC, like wtf is going on over there?…

This game is a masterpiece! I played about 5 or 6 hours a year or two ago when I bought the game, and I bounced off of it. I would just get bodied after sinking maybe an hour or two into a run, it was brutal and felt very unfair. So I put it away and went on with my life for a couple of years. A couple of months ago though, I told myself I was going to try again and finish the game. At first it was like I remembered, long runs that ended in some little death when I wasn't expecting it,…

It's not for me. I've had it wishlisted for years, and finally made the purchase. Wish I hadn't. I wanted to like this game, but I am just not having fun with it. The progression is so minimal, and it is not fun enough for me to stay in the loop. I can handle one of those things, but not both. The unlocks don't seem to really help me perform any better. The game never seems to let up. I get that is something people like about it, but I don't. Even after so many hours, the first area still…

The negative reviews about Epic are on such a high horse. That and PS network optional login are for cross-play - not a requirement. You guys are acting like it's GFWL levels when its very unobtrusive. Also you get like 1 cosmetic item for linking - thats it. People basing a whole negative review on 'locked' items are referring to 1 suit skin weow. Great game, people moan about anything

Update after 33+ hours and finishing Act 3: Masterpiece rogue like game, so sad they deciced to not release Saros for PC. Everyone into rogue likes should play this masterpiece. I found my Hades alternative: highly addictive, with fantastic gameplay and flow. A recent “Saros” video made me buy it. Now I’m sad that they decided to change the platform exclusivity and we will probably not get Housemarques new game for PC... Anyway: Returnal -> so far a 9.5/10

This game is truly a masterpiece. I've never played a game that had my pulse go up this much and kept me in my seat like this one. It is brutally punishing and there were a few times I thought I'd never be able to finish this. But it was worth every penny. If you enjoy grinding hard an getting better in a game, this is for you. If you hate loosing and need a story that progresses continously, stay away from it.

Has a nasty vram leak/texture streaming bug (apparently introduced in a patch over a year ago) that remains unfixed. Also frametimes are bad and it feels choppy even with high FPS. A shame since clearly some effort went into this port.

"Nothingness had a feeling." Returnal's sights, crisp and stark, burst with awe-inspiring unholiness of Barlowe's and Beksinski's worlds. On top, I saw no popping textures or anything immersion-breaking. Somehow it ran fine on my average rig, except for trap rooms with too many lasers. Those are made of lag. Regardless, the game looks and sounds classy. And what could be more classy than a story about an astronaut stranded on an uncharted planet entombing an alien civilization? Poor Selene…

I was enjoying the game, and then i had a game breaking bug where i can not even launch, i have tried every "fix" possible but this is 2026, it is not my job to get your game to work. the bug is crash after logos, you can not play the game. all the workarounds are random things like -nosound, turn off audio drivers, remove random apps, reinstall game ect ect. when it works its fun but you could play it twice, then come back for a 3rd time and it just does not work, great port......

This game has a notorious memory leak issue that got introduced since the latest patch and never got fixed ! I had to download the entire game older version by opening the steam console and enter a specific command. This is mainly for higher specs users as playing on a lower resolution and settings dosen’t seem to affect as much.

I’m a huge fan of sci‑fi, and this game initially impressed me with its smooth gameplay, atmospheric music, striking world design, and memorable creature designs. Unfortunately, the overall experience is held back by an unforgiving difficulty curve. Challenging games absolutely have their place, but the lack of a more accessible mode significantly limits players like me. This game flat out didn't end up functioning correctly for me, but only after playing it for a short period of time. Ended up with some kind of crash in multiplayer, and starting the game back up resulted in it re-loading the exact spot where the crash would begin again. Returnal is a true video game. That is the most accurate description I could give of it, because if you stripped away everything else (story, atmosphere, music, sound design) you'd still have a product that knows exactly what it's meant to be. Very few games these days - or rather, their developers - understand the essence of the medium; or if they do understand it, they willfully ignore it. (Which is a far worse sin.) Video games are meant to have, first and foremost, GAMEPLAY. Everything else…

I'll be running at a consistant 200 fps then randomly it'll spike and the best suggestion online to deal with it is to just restart. I love this game! Housemarque really outdid themselves. This is the kind of game that makes just one more run at 4am sound perfectly reasonable. It’s brutal and uncompromising, yet somehow still feels fair even when it’s scraping your remains off the floor. Mastering the movement, gunplay and enemy patterns is super addictive. To get the good stuff out of the way first, the gameplay is fun and a good mix of challenging and rewarding. And if I was only rating this on the merits of the singleplayer mode I would give it a positive review. One thing I would say is that a single run is a bit long but it's generally fun and engaging enough to where I don't mind. Love the game, but beware the devs released their last patch in 2023 which jacked up the whole game for some users. Vram memory leak 2 hours into the game, stutter fest, no mods to fix issues, zero support or accountability from PS studios on resolving this issue. As much as I liked the story and the general gameplay of Returnal, it is a roguelike after all, so it must be judged on roguelike metrics. I find it ironic to see all the reviews warning roguelike newcomers to be wary -- I would argue this game is very much unlike a lot of other roguelikes, in that I think Returnal really lacks the two main draws of the Roguelike genre: build variety and quick runs. I don't really like roguelikes all that much, but I was delighted by Returnal's first two acts in spite of that. However, I also felt that the third and final act of the main campaign began to drag on a bit, and by the time I was doing my final runs through the Tower of Sisyphus introduced in the DLC, I was hoping that it would end soon. This game is a pure string of dopamine hits, but the story is awful and I’m tired of reading people saying that it’s moving or profound. So what’s the deal? It reminds me of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice for the singular performance of an actress in a video game, but with better gameplay and a superior script. Returnal? More like "not gonna return to it anytime soon". I bought it on PC mainly because judging by the gameplay videos I thought that whoever put that "best played with a controller!" message in the game must be at least as mentally ill as the game's protagonist. I was right. So what's wrong with this game? I am familiar with some of Housemarque's previous work, so I expected a lot of bullshít, mainly in the bullet hell area. Very very fun and very interesting game. But badly optimized. And a roguelike is the worst game you want to release unoptimized. I have tried loads of was and nothing has worked. I have a beefy computer and I have played this game for alteast 2 years uninstalling ad reinstalling. Nothing has helped. One of the best roguelikes out there but crashes during a boss fight? Not the game for me.
