negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't bother buying the game. It's boring and Systemic Reaction will probably keep it half baked like Generation Zero before eventually abandon it in a few months like Second Extinction.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just came back to try Ravenbound out after not touching it since release day, and just about every problem with it has been addressed and improved. Required 3rd party account and always online This was I feel the biggest problem at launch, requiring a constant online connection and a 3rd party account before you can even get to the main menu I'm sure turned many away, and the justifications given for it were weak, which is even more apparent now that they've removed those requirements and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm thankful that I got to play this game for free, because I feel £30 is way too steep for what it currently is. This game feels like it's still in Early Access, not a finished title. I hope the Devs continue to work on it and that it can fulfil its potential. I played less than 2 hours of this game and there's not much making me want to play more. The good: - Environment is graphically fine. Nothing special, but it isn't distracting. - Combat system rewards you for skilled play. Time your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. Idea is nice, graphics and theme are pretty cool, but the execution is very poor. + The world of Ávalt looks pretty, all the different biomes are pretty unique, dense forests, caves, ruins, mountains, exactly the nordic scenery you would expect. + The card mechanic is nice. + Flying around in raven form is pretty fast and smooth, but... - The open world concept is pointless, since you only travel from camp to camp in raven form (Ubisoft style, with a map full…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no reason to be 'open world'. has less level design than the Slay the spire map. No, really. You just fly over a lifeless world then land on an enemy camp, every single one of which is the same 'open arena' type of layout. No interaction needed with the environment beyond that. Or you can lure the troll to the barrel so you can do 20dmg *and* get 10 gold at the same time. Sure, flying around is fun for the first 15 minutes. But this is 2023, do I really want to spend time personally inspecting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shallow, unbalanced and pointless. Amazingly varied open world biome wise, extremely empty and dead. You get 6 "free" drops per region before you start getting negative perks on top, so exploration is not a thing, the fact that there's 5 different enemy types is also contributing to that. You play the first region's "quests" and you've seen the whole game. The only reason to replay it is to get different gear, but it's all so similar that it doesn't even feel good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is only worth buying if you are a massive fan of this genre. The developers have made substantial improvements over the past several months that have made the game much more playable than the state it was in on launch. I would only recommend this title if you desperately need a fix for this kind of game while you are waiting for Hades 2, and even then, wait for a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was drawn in by how beautiful the game is and the idea of an open world roguelike but I couldn't figure out why I was doing anything. I ended up just flying from one Icon to another and killing stuff to get stronger. The reason why I was killing them was unclear. After just murdering a camp of 6 goblins for no real reason I started to wonder if I was in fact, the "bad guy". They didn't do anything wrong. For all I know they might have been on a happy family outing when I dropped from the sky…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For those wondering, its not forced Always Online anymore. A bit short and not as much camp variety as I would like, but still fun overall. I suggest buying on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never buy a game from this company again. The moment you see it, don't even think about it, just ignore it. Because they will probably release early access, make you wait for 2 years, say we couldn't do it and leave. pure garbe devs i'l everseen waste of time. (game is really promissing and i really enjoy it but after that if they realease a good game or someting i'l never try it. BECAUSE OF THE SECOND EXTINCTION
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There just isn't much here and was is here is at times unclear. It's more like a pre-alpha of a much larger game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don’t waste your money on this game , developers abandoned this project.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought Ravenbound pretty much as soon as it was released as the style and format of the game looked very appealing to me. Unfortunately I gave up on it after 20 hours or so as the balance felt off to the point I found the gameplay incredibly frustrating. Coming back to the game recently, happy to say that the string of patches over the past few months have improved things greatly. The game feels better balanced, more fleshed out and less buggy. The challenge is still there, but combat feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very odd game. Got it on sale and still disappointed by what I find. There's a huge game world, yet seemingly no reason to explore it or clear camps because of a strange 'hatred' system which severely punishes you for opening loot chests besides the ones you 'cleanse' (which is 3 chests each boss area). There's no way I can see of getting gold for clearing camps which might be more rewarding as a risk/reward mechanic. The boss are just ridiculous, fast attacks with no gaps between, no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yet another wasted potential. Why does this studio keep doing this? I don't think they're inadequate but maybe the problem is under-investment or bad management? Either way, I'm refunding.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This doesn't seem like a finished game, and looking at the developer's previous games, you start to notice a pattern. They've abandoned their two previous games and this game unfortunately follows the same formula resulting in a lackluster end product with wasted potential. Makes you wonder what could have been, if the developers had the backbone to finish any of their projects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate forced deaths, just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate em. There are so many bugs that make it unplayable, don't give them your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's early access was bumpy and it took a few years to actually finish the game in the way the devs intended. Basically things got messy and the game was never really polished, they also left it in an incomplete state for long periods of time with no updates. Over time it eroded the good will of players who actually liked the game. Unfortunately the reviews don't paint an accurate picture of this game's quality. The gameplay is fantastic, the combat is interesting and fun, but the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At least they finished this game. Unlike their other games. Word of advice if you have have one unfinished game ( second extinction) don't start working on another.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that only runs at max fps and 100% GPU usage. Can't limit the FPS at all. No thanks❗
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, trust me. I really like the concept of a open world roguelike and the combat is decent, the graphics are good and I really like the animations at play here. The card system is not bad but there are some issues I have with it. Now with a roguelike that is open world, there has to be a mechanic that limits the amount of blessings and upgrades you can get so that you don't get overpowered and one shot the bosses, that's just common sense, I agree. With this game you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that I bought a while back but just got around to trying and I am enjoying it. I am not sure why it has such mixed reviews (I haven't read them), but in my 2 hours of playing, I felt that it was a very interesting Rougelite/Soulslike game. The controls (via XBOX controller) are fluid, and I had no crashes or bugs during my playtime. I personally give this one a thumbs up. It isn't as hard as many Soulslike games, but it is an interesting take on the genre mixed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like the combat and mostly the card system but there are so many flaws first of all, i really dont see the point in the open world system the world is bland, there is only 1 side quest and the hatred system makes you avoid exploring. its a bad gimmick, at least they could make it so i can turn into a raven when ever i want. second, skill tree is wierd and kinda bad, feels like there is no actual progression. third, there could be improvment in cards synergys
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ravenbound isn’t technically broken in any way, its design is just fundamentally flawed on multiple levels. It’s an open world rogue-like where you’re punished for exploration and every weapon class plays the exact same. Almost every enemy type is some variant of bipedal humanoid and all the bosses are the same things with different weapons. You have zero freedom as to how to tackle each run and once you’ve beaten the game there’s NO incentive to play it again. There’s also zero characters or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Rouge like with an open world. I felt like the DEVs were very honest about what they were trying to do and worked hard thru the whole early access process responding to the concerns brought up. Is it the best thing ever... no. Did I have a blast exploring the world and doing fun builds to work on enemies and bosses... absolutely!! if you go into it with the right expectations, this game is great, I had enough fun, I may try to 100% it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Always online ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is Slay The Spire meets Dark Souls; however, lacking depth both of those titles provide respectively. Reviews have described Ravenbound as an "open world RPG" - it is not. This is a Roguelite title, where repeated deaths is a certainty, and luck of the draw is important. While the world is gorgeous, it is not filled with quests, exploration, voice acted characters, and the likes that we see in an RPG. The real gem that makes the game fun is the incredible difficulty succeeding in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An attempt at becoming a Souls-like game but with a twist. What I liked was the visuals. The running animation was smooth, the graphics were pretty and it really shows that the devs really tried. I also like the co9ncept of random cards becoming your gear. It's new and definitely something you do not see often in rpgs. What I think needs some work is the jumping and grappling hook animation. Frankly the grappling hook is just weird, may as well allow the vessel double jump, it makes more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very short game which you can honestly beat it in your first go if you weren't stacking hatred(debuffs for you while buffing elites & bosses) to over 20 just because you wanted to see what would happen, death happened. . .but since i beat the final boss i'm going to clear the map to stack that b*tch to over a hundred(or until i get the twin axe achievement) & see how much damage i can do as this wolfman. If you drain a card as a wolfman you gain 15% more damage, is there a cap? psh idk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels... Unpolished... Unfinished... For all the work it's developers clearly put into it, Ravenbound has the feel of a game that is very much in early access. Clunky combat that lacks seamless animation transitions or accurate accounting for animation changes due to uneven terrain (ie. foot placement), A large open world that is, perhaps SO open that it feels almost empty and unalive. Combine this with the noticeable lack of ambient SFX such as wind (save when flying), birdsong, insect…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's really fun for a spell but it's just a shell of a game. I feel no connection to anything except for fun combat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels like It's finally caught it's stride with it's 1.2 patch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Very underrated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some really good things about Ravenbound, and it has its appeal, but it lacks the depth I crave in order to get a lot of play out of a roguelike. Not enough variety in builds and playstyles, not enough of a sense of variation from run to run. It's got the bones of a great game, but it just isn't done yet. But the devs have announced it's feature complete, which means it won't ever become the game it deserves to be. There's fun to be had, but not enough for me to recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is so not a finished game, there is 1 thing to do over and over and over
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ravenbound ------------------------ Ravenbound is one of those games that's way more interesting than its review score makes it look. The whole idea of mixing an open world with a roguelite is honestly kind of genius, and flying around the map as a raven never stopped being the part I looked forward to most. It doesn't always stick the landing though. The world is nice to look at, but after a while you realize you're doing the same fights and objectives over and over. It gets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full of game breaking bugs. Normally it might be excused for an indie game but it's unacceptable in a game where it can end your run and have to restart each time. Game freezes for almost 1 second periodically (maybe every 10 mins). Devastating attack doesn't work more than half the time, either it doesn't activate at all or the attack whiffs because of janky hitbox. Enemies resetting health because it thinks you're out of combat even though you haven't moved out of the area, only for it to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a rare time where I'll leave a review because I'm fat and lazy... But this game deserves a review because of it's really strange position of being neutrally recommended... I like the game. I really do, I have fun when I'm playing it, which is the most important part of a game, isn't it? But I can completely see why it has mixed reviews. If you can ignore the fluff, or rather, the wasted effort they put into the world, I think you'd like it. Sorry devs, the world is beautiful and vast,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really bad designed game. I am unsure what the team's vision was on this game but makes no sense. The game punishes exploration, the "card" are garbage and most of the time you don't have mana nor gold. The camera and controls are awful which makes the experience even worse. I assume the goal is dying and unlocking the skill tree? 2/10 game overall
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I might come back to add more to this, but I have to say, I'm not sure why it's got so many negative reviews. The game is pretty straight forward with what it is giving you from the jump. Killing enemies to increase the Hatred Level makes it more challenging (obviously) and that's good. I've seen people saying "it punishes exploration." No, it doesn't, it gives you something to do to make each play a little different. The "Hatred Corruption" mechanic is good for game hoarders like me. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really neat core idea but the combat is ass unfortunately, and since that's all you do it ain't worth it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun concept, but the game is in dire need of some proper balancing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game had me hyped up, played in the playtests but it feels like they didn’t change that much since then. It has potential, but the devs are not caring about the game anymore. Would be worth for 10€ but not full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely not recommended. Game feels as if it was in very early access (it has, or had, great potential) but unlike other roguelites, every run you do is nearly the same, combat is clunky and camera movement is frustrating. On top of all this, devs added a dlc which adds hammers to the game which you need to pay for if you want them (lol) and then said goodbye to the game and all future updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has forced mouse acceleration and the enemy health bars as well as the target marker/lock are not updated alongside the framerate. They look like they're running at 10 fps, and that combined with the forced mouse acceleration makes the game nauseating to play. The game tells you that it is "best enjoyed with a controller" or something like that, but it's a game made for PC and released only on PC. It makes no sense having forced acceleration for mouse movement, and using a controller…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It gets repetitive fast. Played an hour and just can't justify the discounted price, even. - Graphics are mediocre at best - Game play is very repetitive - Bird form is inverted with no option to change it I tried it, and it's garbage. I'm refunding it. I'd rate it: 4.5/10, get it on heavy discount (under $5).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love when the game throws 30 enemies at me at once while it's dark as ♥♥♥♥ so I can't see anything. Mega Balanced Edit: I turn into a bird, so good game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Better Viking game than Ac Valhalla
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is very fun no matter the mixed reviews. Get it on a heavy discount. I am reviewing it based on a good 8€ sale I got it for. - Combat is quite fun - Random card system makes each run unique - Large skill tree with leveling progression - Large open world, multiple biomes, many enemies to fight - Plenty of bosses to fight - Hatred system where you have to strategise your cards, risk/reward system Bad - Developers are quiters - Little variety in enemies - Most of the map is empty, you only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Editing after most recent patch: They didn't fix anything that was actually wrong with the game and have announced that they are no longer working on it. Do not buy this game. I really want to like this game because it has done something that I haven't found in other roguelikes which is the idea of an "open-world". I just can't say it's ready to be played with how poorly optimized it is. The sound cuts out halfway through my run and never comes back, I'm not even sure if there's supposed to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great graphics, polished world design with fantastic landscape and scale, yet when it comes to the meat of the game, I feel bored only 3 hours in. The sense of progression is severely lacking. You gain very minor benefits when you die and have to start again. It's just not enough to get me to invest in it. Now if you could take the game and instead of dying have respawn points, and safes to lock gear away, and kill that horrible card & mana system... then you'd have a fantastic game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deckbuilding and roguelite....nuf said. Wished they dropped both that crap. /fy!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good, not great. I will recommend as it is playable and it is 'enjoyable' in some aspects which others may find more appealing. I see the developers eye for what they wanted, I just believe it could be optimized. First off, if your interested in anything RPG element wise, it isn't really here. The 'roguelike' qualities of the game are implemented in place where any 'equipment' might be existing. The skills are very basic, and that brings the 'roguelike' elements. It is more of a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is basically a definition of clumsy ... combat, inventory management, controls, and hitboxes. Everything feels slightly off
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice visuals, but not much content and pretty boring, unfortunately :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 i just dont think this is a fully finished 30$ game, its fun tho needs more content, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes played on steam deck and i have over 7+ hours + really cool game mechanics + combat + bird UP!!!!!!! + grappling hook + HUGE MAP - RNG runs the game - all around janky - lifeless npc's - not that many enemy type - empty world - insane xp grind to get tiny 0.5% bonus something - random BS cards. you can get an insane run of cards and crush everything or get screwed into not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a few major things that really keep this game's combat from being really enjoyable. Poise is extremely awkward. It's hard to guess when a block will or won't interrupt a multi-attack combo. It's also hard to guess when bringing up the block mid combo will work. The game slows down a lot. I'm not sure if this is a performance issue with the particles or entirely intentional, but I hate it, it completely throws the timing off. Finally, I get the impression you need to bring the block…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never review, but this one needs it... It's core combat is good, enemies are unique, mechanics and items are interesting and engaging, and that's where the good stops. The way the game is laid out heavily discourages exploration, making the open world experience feel disappointing at best. Which, after beating the final boss is the main thing I want to do, explore. But, at the same time, I can't without facing heavy penalty or death. It took me three 'runs' to kill the final boss, at which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Patch 1.1.3, Got all achievements (33/33) Recommend for those who looking for 3D Action with Roguelite/Roguelike element games. Not recommend for open world fans. I am not really into action game because my skill is bad, but just wanted to try it out since it is a roguelike game, I only able to beat the game in Normal difficulty once, which highly depending on my skills on playing cards to win. Transform to Raven is fun but you need to enter the Raven transformation spot to do…
