There are many things I like about the game. There is, however, one that is truly annoying: At some point, cities stop accepting certain basic resources - coal, wheat, lumber. Trains that had been carrying these goods suddenly stop because they can't unload the resource. The resource can't simply be scrapped. The entire delivery schedule needs to be re-done on the fly, and the resource needs to be delivered to a new location that does accept it. (1) As a game play mechanic, it's…

I'm a long-time player of Railroad Tycoon II and III, and of the two recent takes at the same theme, Railroad Corporation and Railway Empire, I like Railroad Corporation more. Do I like it more than RT2/RT3? Eh.... probably not, but after 15+ years of waiting for a proper successor, it's the closest I've found. At a high level, it combines the free-form track building of RT3 with the economic engine of RT2. Goods only move if they're hauled on your train, and buildings requiring source…

Generally a pretty relaxing game. I played through all the content (including all DLCs) blind on hard difficulty and got all the achievements. I enjoyed the experience, but it was definitely dragging at the end. It is surprisingly buggy for a game that has been out as long as it has. It would frequently go to a Windows "not responding" error message. A lot of times that preceded a crash. The vast majority of these times were when laying track. I made it crash less often (though still…

Its a cheap version of Railway Empire. This game feels like the developers don't actually play the game because the simplest of Quality of life changes that could be made is bizarre. The tutorial is pretty awful, laying tracks is frustrating, you cant edit stations or adjust tracks. Sure for $5 its okay but unless its on sale DON'T BOTHER. Just get Railway empire its cheaper and higher quality.

I love trains, especially Factorio style where trains are just that—trains. You want a hundred trains? Build them and enjoy a huge network, no limits, just fun. But this game? I bought it hoping it would be fun and about trains. Instead, it feels like a second job. Everything is money money money. Rails? money next to it. Time? money (maintenance, upkeep, research, fuel (vs you produce them yourself)). It just ruins the joy of trains—the fact that you're just a manager (employee) making some…

It's fine. By that I mean it's really not bad, but it's not particularly great at anything it does. The graphics are austere, the minimum acceptable for a 2019 game, even for a train tycoon game, the UI is outdated but does the job, even though it can take up the whole screen when you select a train with a complex route for instance. The tracks layout tool works pretty well and is satisfying, even though snapping to stations is clunky in the way it makes them move around according to a pretty…

This game has some fun ideas. Like the upgrading your trains and your company but I can't recommend it. It isn't the worst game ever. I wouldn't call it awful. It just needs a lot of work. I had some fun playing for a short while but there are a lot of small annoyances that just add up as you play the game. In your first few hours of playing you'll find yourself pretty confused on what to do. There's a small tutorial which helps somewhat but it doesn't tell you everything. One particular…

I've enjoyed logistic games for a long time (especially railroad tycoon), and wanted to give this one a try as it looked good, but is actually kind of barebones. The graphics are alright, the music is good, and the gameplay is ehh... It's lacking some of the most basic gameplay functionalities you would expect from a train logistic game. The most annoying one is no traffic lights. If you have two separate long railways merging lanes in a common town, and one train from one line is already in…

Inferior to Railway Empire in every way. The biggest thing is that it doesn't really handle switches on double track. At all. If you've got double track, and you try and create a switch turning right, the left-hand track insists you're colliding with the right-hand track when you try to cross it. You have to do something weird like create a bridge, or create a crossover where trains run the wrong way on the right-hand track for a short distance before switching. There are a bunch of silly…

The track tool is so buggy. Like 1fps buggy. It’s a game about trains. There are two things that should work 100% of the time. The trains, and the things you put trains on.

Not sure why nobody is able to produce an actually good railroad or even transport game. Seriously, I still think Transport Tycoon from like 40 years ago is the best they ever made. It was simple enough, but still complex enough to be fun throughout ... and you weren't limited to steam trains ... which you are here. I mean, you get what you pay for here, and that's not why I'm downvoting it. I'm downvoting it, because it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring to play. Positives first: It's a lot more accessible…

I don't often write reviews, but this game deserves one. Railroad Corporation is the ONE true game that is a remake of the original in the 90's. Out of all the railroad simulators this it the one I like the most by far. Gameplay is simple, fun, engaging and the missions are fun to play. The campaign was fun and I just couldn't put the game down until it was completed. Highly recommend, especially if its on sale

compared to other games in the same genre, this game lacks heaps of the features available in other games. 1- No loans; this means you cannot take debt to solve a simple liquidity problem or start a new expansion project if you don't have the liquidity. which sometimes is so bad you have to fail objectives because you don't have the money NOW as opposed to later. Loans are in every business management game, they are even in city planning games! I didn't play with AI or multiplayer, but I…

Enjoyed this game far more than I thought I would. Focus is heavily on trading and unlike other train games there's not a whole lot of 'minutia' railroad management, which I greatly appreciated. The trains are quite good at finding routes that work if you give them options and train queuing at stations is pretty simple to understand after the first level. This game is easy to learn, while being difficult to master. Some of those challenge missions are pretty hard, and competing against AI can…

It reminds me a lot of "Railroad Tycoon". You basically set up supply chains and take care you follow the commodity chains with your trains. The first scenario unlocks more and more functions over time (like bank is unlocked only after 4 missions) but it guides you well. Missions you play within the scenario are unlocked to play in free/sandbox mode. This enables you to play the same map with a different goal set up. Multiplayer/Coop mode is available too. Music is lovely and the graphics are…

This game provides too little tools to manage a railroad corporation satisfactorily and for a railroad tycoon enthusiast the game is a bit oversimplified. Can't build crosses, there's no signalling left to the player (you can just assign a section two-way or one-way), locomotives are always built at the starting station.. If one wants to get more into railroading, better to pick up the Railway Empire games or Transport Fever 2, or if one seeks a more cutesy approach: Sid Meier's Railroads!

TLDR: The gameplay is fun, but the campaign is frustrating and the game is clunky. Only for train sim fans. I haven’t played a ton of games like this, so maybe I’m being a little harsh, but I just can’t fully recommend it. The core gameplay is fun and I finished the main campaign. Biggest complaint: When you hit the main objective, the game kicks you out of the level instantly. Sometimes I've built a nice little train empire and just want to keep playing.. but NO. Really wanted to like the game but it's just incredibly frustrating. The game is focused more on railroad economics than on the actual railroad building/engineering, which is what I've been looking for. (If you're more into trains and tracks, then get Railway Empire instead.) It starts with a useless tutorial and doesn't improve from there. I ran into a bug right away where I set the train route and load/unload goods (which tutorial doesn't even explain how to do exactly - I watched a YT…

This was a bit hard for me to decide whether to give a positive or negative score. I liked the music. It hasn't been crashing on me at all. The interface when scrolled all the way out is acceptable. However, there are a lot of cons. For starters, you can't cross tracks at all. The only place a train can go through another track is at a station - stations can have two tracks going in to it from one direction and two going out in another, that's it. That's the only way. If it was any worse…

TLDR: Play Railway Empire instead. This game has so many realistic-yet-frustrating elements that the difficulty goes far beyond "challenging" and ends up at "enraging." For one thing, EVERYthing costs money -- maintenance, refueling, even just picking up cargo. It's way too easy to end up in a financial hole that you can't get out of, because you can't make any money without spending a LOT of money. Also, engines aren't tied to specific routes, and don't spawn at the starting points of new…

There's so much to like here, but a few major issues mean I can't recommend. Firstly massive technical issues. I have an RX 6800, I can comfortably get 120 fps during most gameplay. Except when I'm placing rails and then it drops below 1 fps. Secondly, you can't get rails to cross at-grade at all. If you want a 2 rail Y-junction, you just can't do it. You have to get all the rails to merge into a bottleneck if you want a Y-junction. A more minor issue is there is no way to set train…

Interesting game but thoroughly broken resource management system. Trains refuse to unload in a city even when there is free space in factories and warehouses. warehouses in the same city don't automatically feed factories, contracts or markets. The end result is you have to micromanage every single train to tell it exactly where to drop off goods or the train will get stuck waiting. When a train is stuck waiting no other train can unload and the entire town grinds to a halt. If you enjoy…

Verdict 👍 Recommended (but not for me) I tried Railroad Corporation for about 0.1 hours and then turned it off. It’s not that the game is bad — it just didn’t click with me at all, and I could tell instantly it’s not the type of management game I want to sink time into. Still, I’m recommending it because I can easily see other players enjoying it: if you like building networks, optimizing routes, and watching numbers go up, this kind of railroad sim can become a proper time sink. Now there's a game-breaking bug they've introduced that causes all trains to be incapable of finding routes that I never saw back when I first got this game, but has happened to me several times now. The economics are very strange. Your railroad doesn't charge fees for transport. It buys the products (including passengers) and then sells them when they are delivered. The amount of money made on such transactions is absurdly high and the only real restrictions are that you start with insufficient money & borrowing is absurdly expensive. Sometimes trains go off to stations that are not on their route. The items available to be picked-up or in demand to be delivered change and that can mean…

I was hooked on it for about 20 or 30 hours but ultimately stopped before finishing the campaign because it just got a bit too repetitive. Raw resources spawn near infinitely, processing factories are just as fast, and even cities barely "fill up" on their needed items. You make too much money transporting mail and passengers.
