Pompo the Cinephile
Operating out of the movie capital "Nyallywood," Pompo has been shooting one B-grade entertainment flick after another that anyone would enjoy. One day, Pompo's "movie buff" assistant Gene spots a new script written by Pompo and is moved by its exquisite story. In a fit of passion, he proclaims, "I want to see this as a finished work in theaters as soon as possible!" However, Pompo tells him, "So you shoot this… From TMDB

Here are the limitations: - No sequel movies, only standalone - No Ghibli movies This is a 3x3 format that I think really brings out everybody's unique taste, if you've seen enough anime movies to make one. If you can't fit the limitations, feel free to break them. I generate my 3x3 on here: https://gqgs.github.io/3x3-generator/ To label mine: 5 Centimeters Per Second, Macross Do You Remember Love, Christmas in January…

unlabelledView post →Finally watching Pompo the Cinephile. Damn this movie sucks what the hell.
unlabelledView post →During Pompo the Cinephile the character Pompo makes this beautiful passionate speech about wanting to make a movie so brilliant that the whole audience would sit spell bound unable to leave until the credits finished. Once that movie ended the whole theater sat and waited for the credits to finish.
unlabelledView post →Pompo the Cinephile. Partially because I think it's a great movie, partially because I think it would be extremely funny to expose that audience to a movie that so vehemently insists that movies should only be 90 minutes long.

unlabelledView post →5. Pompo The Cinephile Movie again. This movie is nothing short of art. If you are an artist who really just wants to create something beautiful, I have to recommend this film. A small time worker at a studio is given the chance to direct and works himself into hospitalization over it.

It's a really fun celebration of film and storytelling in very much the same vein as Eizouken. Like that show though, it's at its best when the characters are genuinely struggling and feels insubstantial when success comes too easily (which is often). The editing scenes are sublime and worth the price of admission.
unlabelledView post →Next; Pompo the Cinephile WHAT? Ashley watched a movie involving a bossy red headed loli? Shocking! The animation in this is incredible. A love letter to the art of film making itself. The movie takes you through each step of the process. The way they added lighting sparkle into lines, spectacular!

unlabelledView post →5. Favorite movie: This is a tough one... I think I HAVE to go with Pompo The Cinephile... just cause it really hits the heart and visually, it's absolutely stunning.
unlabelledView post →Like, it's idealistic and optimistic to a fault that it obscures the realities of film production, but I still think about how Pompo the Cinephile was an anime with so much love for cinema and the idea of the power of the movies that embodied that to joyous extremes Also a banger theme song
unlabelledView post →Just watched an anime movie called Pompo The Cinephile and I thought it was great. I'd never heard of it until last week and the animation was awesome. I adored the overall style of the film, and the way it portrayed the passion and hardwork behind making a movie was so fun to watch. I recommend it!
unlabelledView post →Pompo the Cinephile is also mentioned in the trailer, and I recall that being a very hyped movie (well, among the anime crowd), but I found it just okay. I'm always rooting for new blood in the world of anime films though; I want to see new directors and studios succeed.
unlabelledView post →Pompo the Cinephile (2021): The movie obviously has great affection for film, though the theme of sacrificing for your art might be a bit extreme. There are some really imaginative visuals and little Pompo is a lot of fun. Really enjoyed it! #MoviesAboutMovies #PompoTheCinephile
unlabelledView post →I just watched Pompo The Cinephile and I thought it was great! If you love movies and have any appreciation for the film making process than this will be right up your alley. I loved the art and animation, found the characters charming, and the story to be investing. Absolute cinema!

unlabelledView post →Interesting counter-example: Anguish, which has a very weird horror movie within a less-weird horror movie, but within the weird horror movie in the horror movie an audience watches a normal horror movie. Or Pompo the Cinephile, a very cute, weird anime where they make the most boring movie ever.
unlabelledView post →I thought it was an interesting film, but I'm not sure I'd ever rewatch it- not a lot of it sticks in my memory. May I suggest Pompo the Cinephile for a future anime movie watch?
unlabelledView post →24. Pompo the Cinephile (2021) it's a fine movie, although it commits the usual sin of focusing too much on the boring lead character, honestly as a love letter to movies I can't dislike it and it was fun to watch and see all the goofy cinematic techniques they use 🎞️ 7/10

unlabelledView post →Pompo: The Cinephile, 9/10 This movie’s been on my backlog for a while and I’m glad I finally gave it a watch. unlabelledView post →This is something which came up in one of your other Christmas movie videos this week, but I have to ask - with the frequency with which you bring up movies being 90mins long, do you happen to have seen the 2021 anime movie Pompo the Cinephile?
unlabelledView post →Pompo the Cinephile (2021) Loved this! It clearly loves the filmmaking process & does a lot of fun cuts & shots to push forward that appreciation. Also liked that it had a conflict w/no direct villain. My big issue with it is not agreeing with its views on dedication to your craft, but I digress.
unlabelledView post →14 - Movie, anime - Pompo the Cinephile Reasonably amusing. Nothing much stood out to me about it though. 'Mid', I suppose. Though it was very funny to end a 90 minute long movie with the line 'the thing I like most about it is that its 90 minutes long'.

unlabelledView post →Pompo: The Cinéphile is a very good movie. It’s a bit strange that it’s called that because it’s more about Gene directing a movie. The love he has for movies is well captured and shown with some really good animation. #Pompothecinephile #anime #aniverse
unlabelledView post →Watched Pompo: The Cinephile yesterday. I have no idea how I missed this movie when it came out in 2021. But was a great movie that had decent (if not a tad quick) pacing that told a concise and compelling story.

unlabelledView post →There’s something special about Pompo: The Cinephile that just speaks to you. Yes, the animation is stunning and you absolutely adore every character in the film. Martin Braddock’s pickup line about wanting to network socially is hilarious and Mystia is an incredible character; a talented actress that doesn’t let her success go to her head. But the animated film also speaks to both film and art lovers alike. Showing what was discarded in pursuit of your dreams is important to making a life…
