My eighty-five years are catching up on me now so when I find a game i can actually play with easy to read and understand details then it's a must have. You have to give this game a go especially if you like city building. Grmpy's score 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m a big Roman fangirl, so if there’s a game with Rome in it, I’ll play it. And if it’s a city builder, why that’s just even better! I have really enjoyed playing so far, and am very pleased to see that the dev is interactive with the community and keen to build and improve upon what’s already in place. There’s already a lot of content for you to play with as of me writing this, but this game has the potential to really cement itself as one of the core Roman-era city builders, and I am…

You're on the clock in Pompeii, but once you get to sprawling Rome, you have the freedom to explore and play around.
unlabelledView post →Firstly I should acknowledge this game is not terrible and for a one or two man band putting this together he has done a remarkable job, kudos to him or both. My gripes if I may call them that, but I'd like to think more meaningfully, constructive criticism are as follows: Lacks ambience - For example the School building has the sounds of children yet there are only four adults sitting in the courtyard with no children to be seen? In fact, there are no kids anywhere on the map, period. At…

unlabelledView post →If you love the Roman Empire, then this game is a must-have. It was created by a developer who put his heart into it, and it's brilliant. The game also depicts the Roman Empire in all its glory and historical accuracy, so there are no modern day inaccuracies that would be promoted by certain annoying groups. If you love the Roman Empire and city builder genre, then just get it.

unlabelledView post →Pompeii: The Legacy invites players to journey back to one of history’s most tragic yet fascinating events — the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Developed as a mix of historical simulation and narrative-driven strategy, the game aims to recreate the final days of Pompeii while exploring the culture, politics, and daily life of the ancient Roman world. The game’s strongest asset lies in its historical authenticity. The developers have clearly invested significant effort in research,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of people think the game, “the floor is lava” is quite new. It can in fact be traced back to Pompeii in 79 AD. What, too soon?
unlabelledView post →I have many city building games in my collection and plenty of them that deal with ancient Rome. This is a fun, no rush city building game that is leisurely and doesn't add a lot of political balancing. Trade also seems to be rather simplified as well. The graphics are really sharp and pleasing. I'll be right up front when I say that I've started the tutorial several times only to try my city building on the few areas of the map you can initially build on in the beginning. Know that in looking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played a little has a lot of potential. I do think they skipped a few QoL that should have been there on early access release. Just to name a few: - Hotkeys for building menus - Notification (or animation, badge or colored tab) where the building you need to build is, or if the assignment could tell you). - Camera tilt control (not just the tilting when zooming in) - What a building is missing to be built (had some builds queue up didn't know I was missing stone) easily solved by not…

This is one of the best Roman city builders i've seen since Caesar III and IV. Very immersive, keep a nice balance between work and goods to make your citizens happy. Not the simple game it looks like, with the vast technology tree the game will keep you entertained for hours at a time. There are Easter eggs in the game too so keep an eye out for them! Pray to the Gods to keep Pompeii safe, don't make Vesuvius…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a bit tired of rome builders recently because there was so many and i didn't wanted to exhaust me before Anno 117 is out. So i bought this one for later next year. Glad i gave it a try anyway, its already absolutly worth its money and one of the best indie builders i played. And i played alot. Very good game now in its early current state with a busy, compassionate dev, 100% recommended.

EDIT: after playing a short while, it gets boring - the progression feeling is very limited, research is not enough. setting resource storage limits is annoying and can really destroy your city by overflowing the tutorial quests are awesome and i wish they runned the entire game but at some point they stopped showing up as i said, it has potential for sure but needs more work, i can't recommend it at the moment but i…

That's Patron and Aquatico, they both use this engine. From now on any game that uses the WhaleX engine is going to be ignored. Three games now and I'm done. The developer can't seem to get optimization done for this game engine. If you are looking for an indie city builder that actually performs well check out Nova Roma:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speaking of the new game art, the color palette really reminds me of the Ancient Rome especially art in Pompeii which used to be colorful, and with a twist of Ancient Egyptian art (gold aqua and turquoise). and I’m glad the designer agrees that we need gothic costume for the blue/green hair ladies😂
unlabelledView post →This game is a classic-style city builder like Caesar, with a focus on production chains, city layout, proximity bonuses. It’s not a fast-paced or highly punishing game and focuses more on planning and development than constant pressure. Because of that, it might feel slow or too easy at first, especially if you’re used to more intense gameplay. It offers a solid foundation with room to grow. looking forward to future updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have enjoyed playing this game from early release to full release. I used to love the Stronghold games but I have played them to the point of exhaustion. I have looked for a while for a game that lets you build and manage a city. Bring back more games like this! Games of old were so fun - like the rollercoaster tycoons, and all the many city builders in the sim city franchise. Some of us just like to build and decorate. My computer won't let me play the older games unless they have…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its hard for me to give a hard recommend to this game or not. For performance, my older computer ran it just fine, zero bugs or crashing. In terms of a city builder, it is solid enough, but not perfect. You have access to detailed production stats, but you will likely find yourself manually turning production structures on and off, or build a rather silly amount of storage as you can't set automatic production limit caps. Setting up your housing block is far simpler then others I've played, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is pretty hard starting out. if you dont have ample time to figure out things its a task. i had actually originally refunded the game but after talks with the dev. its a one man show. i recended that refund and am keeping this game. its in very early access and just know things will change.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →balancing at mid game is way off. you have to constantly build storage buildings, sea trade doesnt work,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developer is fantastic. The communications and updates are a perfect example of the dedication they have for the game. This is a must buy if you enjoy this type of city builder. I'll put in more time as it develops!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I rarely buy games in early development, but this one caught my eye when the Band of Crusaders folks recommended it a few days ago. All I can say is that this game is amazing so far! Can't believe one guy made this, and I am happy to support him in his endeavors. Immersive, enjoyable, and well worth the price. I look forward to seeing the progress of the game and the full release.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good start to early access - seems quite polished, it runs well, plays and looks nice. There is campaign with fleshed out story and so far all the characters have voice over. Also, by looking at the research tree it seems like there is enough stuff to keep you busy for some time. Besides story/campaign there are also two additional modes - sandbox and creative, so if you just like to build without distractions there is something for you to have fun with. If you're into roman setting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As always, the most difficult reviews to write are for games that come so close to greatness (and with over 170 thousand games on Steam, believe you me, competition is tough) but just miss by an inch. That's the case for Pompeii: The Legacy... which is certainly a sincerely developed, genuine, professionally made game (that alone seems like a rarity). Just like it says on the box, this is a historical city builder game following on (ripping off?) games like Ceasar, Nova Roma, Pax Augusta,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pompeii: The Legacy is a Roman focused city-builder type game. Loads of different buildings, with loads of different functions to provide essential services for the city to grow. More on the relaxed-side of city-building, Pompeii: The Legacy (PTL) still provides challenges while allowing those new to city-building genres to have a nice introduction into the genre. As a fellow Croatian I feel mandated to automatically give this a thumbs up and move on, however there are a few points to note…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 (Smells like burnt ambition) – Twenty years after Vesuvius turned everything into a pizza topping, I’m back with a hammer, a dream, and zero building permits. Between scheming senators, collapsing aqueducts, and citizens who can’t stop catching fire, Pompeii’s rebirth is pure chaos—beautiful, ash-covered chaos. 🏛️🔥😅 Follow my curator page for more volcano-proof cities, questionable leadership, and glorious Roman disasters! ⚒️🍷🌋…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Impressive achievement for a team let alone a solo developer. For an Early Access game, there's already plenty of material in the game to keep you interested. Mechanics mean you have to put some thought into what you do but they're forgiving enough that mistakes won't be fatal. Looking forward to seeing where this game goes. If you like the classic games like Caesar, this one will be right in your zone. Could really do with a camera tilt option independent of zoom-in and hopefully that's on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction I would like to say, without a doubt, that Pompeii: The Legacy is the best Roman city builder I have ever played. I love everything about this game. If you're into Roman city builders, or city builders in general, I would recommend Pompeii: The Legacy. Review Firstly it needs mentioning that the developer is very responsive to comments/suggestions. Developed by a solo developer the game is good. It runs very solid. The graphics looks very good. The management side of things are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really well polished game for Early Access. I haven’t seen any major bugs. Maybe a little bit if flickering of graphics, but even that could be on my end. The game has a lot of potential, and the politics currently in game is intriguing. People bicker and barter while wanting what’s best for the settlement. I have a good resource chain. I think this might be the best “roman” city building game so far. Pros: Beautiful graphics with changing seasons Lots of buildings Political intrigue…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow. I love this game so far. It's EA and a lot is still imperfect, but I'd say it stacks up against the competition. Even playing the big "upcoming AAA" game demo, I've enjoyed this more. Really nice. Can't wait to see what the dev does next.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a Roman City Builder done right.. and it's EA and $17.99 AMAZING :P Pick this one up you won't regret it!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! EA but not like bad EA. It'sgood EA. Tomorow will continue!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t usually play city builders these days, but this one felt pretty intuitive for a noob like me and brought back some memories. Big congrats to the developer for pulling this off basically solo and with a custom engine, thats an incredible achievement. Loved the voice overs. -- SPOILERS AHEAD -- The plot thickened when the snarky you-know-who showed up suddenly. That moment was really fun, with the whiny kid being scared and all.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →March was fun. Playing games every day and on average a different game every day. I introduced my daughter to The Downfall of Pompeii and she absolutely loved it. #bgstats #boardgames
unlabelledView post →Hey, is there still room for one old game dev? 😊 Pompeii: The Legacy is my game: bsky.app/profile/zzel...
unlabelledView post →A great game but very frustrating. You never have enough workers and if you increase workers, you never have enough food! Trading is a fun aspect, but all of the prices you get paid for goods, do not change! so you cannot 'shop around' for the best trading prices. You can build lots of Olive Groves and Olive presses, but never produce enough Olive Oil to keep your Citizens happy, same with any other produce really.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very well designed, it makes sense, it is fun and perfect for the "builder" inclined players. I hope some of the not yet included functions are done soon, but I give it high praise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a fan of Julio-Claudian history and Caesar IV is one of my favorite games. So far, I am enjoying this as well as it has some Caesar IV vibes.
