Well, it's a rather "simplified" Xcom-esque type of game, because you'll have noticed this from the get go (or by simply looking at the given footage). Simplified you say, well that's exactly what it is (because you can easily cheeze yourself through this game) even though after clearing a mission (easy to begin with), you'll be able to add some difficulty (with added rewards to boot) in order to replay them (hence cheezing) over and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey o/ I finally arrived here too. I'm Simon, I'm part of @robotality.bsky.social as artist and game designer. Our games Pathway, Halfway and recently Wargroove 2. Currently we work together with Chucklefish on Witchbrook.
unlabelledView post →Pathway is a fun and interesting adventure tactics game. The main premise is in getting ourselves a group of adventurers with various skills and perks, and having them traverse the hostile desert areas of Middle East and Africa of the 1930s to complete several campaigns. Think the kind of setting from Indiana Jones and The Mummy. As we move through the desert, we try to uncover secrets of the ancients, whilst battling German Nazis and some supernatural enemies too, such as zombies and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a reason I have more hours than any other reviewer on this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very soft "not recommended from me". Bluntly, this gets the vibes of old "foreign land adventure" movies and books like Indiana Jones correct, and if you're just looking for the vibes, this is a great game. But the tactical and strategic depth simply isn't there, for experience turn-based combat fans, this doesn't offer anything particularly new or interesting and it definitely doesn't offer a challenge. The only time I failed any missions was the very last (and hardest mission),…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's __okay__. It gives XCOM and FTL vibes, but a worse game then either. Positives: 1. Setting -- Love the Raiders of the Lost Ark vibe. I always want more of that type of content. 2. Graphics -- Great art style. 3. Item system is neat -- Good item progression, cool stuff. Not super complex but I prefer that to some other RPGs that have so many modifiers and attributes that you have to do calculus to optimize equipment. 4. UI - Its nice, contributes to the art style. Negatives (too many for…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathway is a very fun and well-designed turn-based grid strategy game. You can unlock a total of 16 characters, each with their own stats, talents, and skill trees! There are 5 story adventures and a massive number of different events to go through and experience while playing. The achievements in Pathway are a mixed bag. Outside of progression and hardmode, achievements are either for random events or doing something X number of times. Most of these are fine, but because of the sheer number…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The NFL announced a six-game suspension without pay for 49ers OL Isaac Alarcon or violating the league’s policy of performance-enhancing substances. Alarcon, 26, part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program, has yet to appear in a regular-season game.
unlabelledView post →Really solid tactical RPG, feels very similar to FTL in terms of map exploration but very different in combat. Items and levels carry over between runs, you unlock more characters and items by simply playing more of the campaign and doing more of just about everything in the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HIDDEN GEM 8/10 !!! In 2024 this is kinda hidden gem and a absolute banger of a turn based roguelike. Finished the game several times on my gog copy. Bought it here to hunt all achievements. For me, its perfect mix of "eventtelling", turn based combat and meta progress. Eventtelling not storytelling, since game is separated on several adventures. And in each you progress through events and fights to the adventure conclusion. Meta progress is done by unlocking new characters and mainly by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pleasant mini-squad-based TBS - not too complex, not too shallow - with 'Indiana Jones-ey' story-generation as we choose our path on FTL-like nods grid. There are 5 major plots to survive through, some randomization makes possible to replay adventures with different sets of characters (up to 4), upbringing them to level 6 - there's a whole roster (like in Jagged Alliance) and lots of weapons/items to collect & equip (color-tiers Borderlands style).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would I recommend it? I'm honestly not sure. I was really attracted to the concept, it's an Indiana Jones-style adventure, with FTL-like exploration, turn-based combat, and amazing pixel art. At first, the atmosphere is solid, and the setting is exactly the kind of thing that should make for a fun adventure game with a good music to supplament it. But after playing it for a while and finishing all five missions, I felt that the game was much less interesting to play than it was to look at. My…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Strategy turn-based adventure game, that would be familiar to anyone who's watched Indiana Jones. Go on adventure in 1930s Egypt, Djibouti and the Arabian desert, fight Nazis and cultists, and discover what they're scheming towards. - More than 20 weapons with different tiers (uncommon, rare, etc..). - Over 12 characters to play with, some with pre-requisite challenges to unlock. - Solid level-up system, with branching choices. - Good choice and consequence points. Overall fun…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You have to kill dogs. I understand that, in war, armies use dogs and soldiers are forced to kill them, so they have done this for realism. Yet there are hundreds of aspects of war which are not included, it's still a fairly simple and streamlined game, so the fact that they chose "killing dogs" to be a point of realistic combat makes me feel like the designers just really wanted to kill dogs. They've included an option to turn off the animations and sound effects of the dogs dying, but still.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: -Great pixel art (subjective) -Immersive mechanics (manage resources like gas and supplies, exploring locations, much like FTL!) -Fun tactical problem solving when under powered -Good tutorial (uses a "teach as you go" approach) Cons: -Forced difficulty (no way to get more challenge early on, you are forced to go at the game's slow pace since the difficulty slider is only unlocked at the end of the campaign) -Uninspiring level up tree (some levels give you added mechanics, which is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with absolute gorgeous pixel graphics. The challenging gameplay will keep me from completing it, although I would love to spend more time with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every adventure is straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. Gorgeous pixel graphics and evocative music. Excellent little retro blend of just the right amount of turn based tactical combat, party based RPG mechanics, resource management and map exploration decisions. Just the perfect way to spend quality time with your children teaching them about the Third Reich.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the more I played this game the more I was digging its vibes. There are a few things I would tweek to make the UI more friendly but ultimately I can't deny its overall charm. It's basically X-Com meets Roguelite meets Curious Expedition (if you know of that game). The pixel art is fantastic, and the music is solid as well. The whole thing really got me immersed, and even if your entire team gets wiped out it'll let you struggle to continue and perhaps find your legs again. Solid…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it looks nice. But thats about it. The gameplay got boring fast, it is really really shallow. The different pathways you pick between dont really feel significant, and more slight alterations. Might come back to it later to give it another shot but I found it boring after its nice introduction
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would've prefered to leave a positive review, but certain things bug me that I could not. But more about that later. Pathway is a squadbased turnbased tactics game in the same vein of games from the handheld era. Its artwork is reminiscent of that as character models and the world are all displayed in a pixelated style. the theme of this game is very Indiana Jones inspired as you drive through the desert searching for ancient artifacts while fighting nazi predominantly, and some zombies. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love this game so much. especially the combat. wish there was more content though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick little tactical combat game. Like playing Jagged Alliance 'light'.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a very vanilla experience, tho if this was someone's early attempt at game making: thumbs up. What hinders this game is the scarcity of fuel for your vehicle. Moving one space on the map cost one fuel. Everything cost a lot in the game. Fuel costs a lot. You gain little compensation for killing enemies. Therefore, making money is hard. Without money, you can't buy fuel. If you can't buy fuel, then you can't explore many of the extra points of interests on the map because if you travel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →let's call this the spiritual successor to [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/dohi64/recommended/253150]halfway, a decent sci-fi tactics game with serious design problems. no mid-mission saving was the biggest problem there, which was alleviated here by offering shorter encounters. that is not how you address basic functionality issues. same great pixel art but they went the lazy, shallow and ultra-repetitive roguelike way. there's a map, choose where you want to go, do some turn-based combat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun casual game that can be made more challenging using sliders for each adventure for those who want it. The art style is nostalgic and lends to the trope of Indiana Jones-esque adventure. I enjoyed getting into the flow of the mechanics and playing while watching sitcoms or another friend playing their own game. Also a game that doesn't demand much of your attention if you want to play it in the background during workhours. See a Nazi, punch a Nazi!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK turn-based combat, but lacks content. I've just finished the second mission, and I've seen every enemy the game has to offer (around 12). I've had the same event 3-4 times too. Worth it for a couple of hours of fun, but don't expect much out of this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play this game for the feeling of nostalgia it gives. Like I am some how teleported back to my parents bedroom playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I know that's an entirely different game, but the vibes in Pathway are immaculate. The fact its a stellar tactical game is the cherry on top for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It started very promising but then I kept loosing runs because I ran out of fuel although I bought evey fuel I could, fought every battle and did every event. Also I kept missing 100% hitchance shots???
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While some elements of the game drag on and feel repetitive, the game itself is an enjoyable tactical turn-based rouge-like. Many other reviews have said the same thing better but the game, especially in combat, drags on for a long time. It takes ages to position your characters and kill enemies and it doesn't feel particularly satisfying or interesting to do anything other that fight every time and straight-line for the objective. Adding some various combat encounters where your goal is to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, this is fantastic. A branching rpg, tactical turn-based combat, danger, romance, mystery, biffing nazis. What more could you possibly want? Update: I'm rattling through the game, unlocking things at a decent pace. Still loving it. It is full of character and choices. A very enjoyable system.

unlabelledView post →Combat and tactics are meh. Events are the bane of real tactical games. Nothing smart or thoughtful, no overwatch, free reloads, weird ap system etc. Don't let the pretty pixel art fool you. Disappointing game so far, compared with HALFWAY their previous game which I enjoyed and recommend. EDIT : After doing all the chapters same opinion as other reviews. PATHWAY gets old and boring fast, as all combats are the same. Shallow combat and options, Lacking maps readability ( cover vs open…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice point-crawl with carefully woven pulp references, drawing a lot on the likes of Lovecraft and Indiana Jones. I really dig it. Combat is complex enough without being too deep. Story is yummy,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fairly simple, but very charming post-Slay-the-Spire roguelite. I had fun with it, even though it feels like at one point it was meant to be very difficult, but then most of the difficulty got patched out of it. Not much more to say about it, really. It's one of those that are really simple, but not pretentious and very charming, so it doesn't feel like a letdown.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love me a historical accurate game, Jerusalem, Palestine <3 Fun if not a bit short game, i loved the strategy and turn-based gameplay, lovely pixel art.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, recommended if you're looking for a casual indie game. Nice pixel art-style, gameplay is decent and the mechanics are simple enough to understand quickly enough. Managing your resources gives the game a nice extra layer and the difficulty sliders allow you to manipulate that if you find it tedious. May get a tad repetitive unless you try out different sets of characters together. There aren't many characters to choose from but the game isn't that long anyway (~20 hours) and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a nice small tactical game with Indiana Jones vibes. Fun to play for a while although the combats get a bit repetetive after a while. The story is good though and exploration is fun. The art is also cool. I am only sad that i have to kill so many dogs, but the developers did a good job for what i imagine being a small team.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

Game is Pathway by @robotality.bsky.social & @chucklefishltd.bsky.social . Indiana Jones style adventure meets old school X-Com gameplay. Excellent stuff. #gaming #pathway
unlabelledView post →Pathway is a turn-based tactical RPG that blends roguelite progression with pulp adventure storytelling, creating a game that feels like a playable homage to classic 1930s serials. Developed by Robotality and published by Chucklefish, it places you in a world of hidden temples, desert expeditions, and Nazi occult conspiracies, where a group of adventurers races to uncover powerful artifacts before they fall into the wrong hands. The premise is familiar but effective, and the game leans fully…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn based Indiana Jones Nazi slapping shinanagins (with rogueish like elements?) A fun little adventure game, combat looks rather simplistic but with prolonged play you will notice it's subtleties, good for playing when you have a few moments spare. I like the little jeep travelling about on the big map
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than the new xcom
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the way this game was designed. Lots of freedom of choice and a choose your own adventure. I haven't put a lot of hours in but that's because I don't play a lot of single player turn based games. Would love to see a sequel with co-op because this is an excellent game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna put it real simple... I like the pixel art, soundtracks, story, game play. No regrets buying this little gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathway is a neatly implemented Strategy RPG set in an "Indiana Jones" themed world. It uses roguelite elements as well as an old-school turn-based combat system. You'll embark in different scenarios varying in length (30-60min), atmosphere (desert, ruins & more) and dangerosity (base level is pretty well balanced). Each game has you navigating a node-based map (similar to Slay the Spire's or FTL's) and alternates between battle encounters, choice encounters, trade caravans and campfires. So…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a terrific game with solid tactical combat and a real sense of adventure. The game's two main mechanisms are character building and resource management. While the resource management is basic and unobtrusive (fuel, supplies and ammo), the character building has a lot of variety and has a definite impact on how each mission (as well as each individual encounter) will go. You characters have typical RPG style stats as well has skills with weapons, repair kits, medical kits, etc. Each…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun turn-based combat game. Love the athmosphere, exploring Morocco and other places with referencers to local cultures (berber, bedhouin, etc)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically, a fun little tactics game---not as difficult as the DOS X-COM or Jagged Alliance titles, not as simple as one of the JRPG tactics variants. I liked the overall setting, the event writing, the pixel art and the soundtrack. Still, I'd rather give a mixed rating if I could, because there's quite a few nitpicks: - The main one: Cover mechanics are counterintuitive and at odds with the environment art. Units may benefit from directly adjacent cover even though an attacker ostensibly has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Style over substance. The lack of polish really hurts it over time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent indie game. Interesting game play. Love punching Nazis. I was short at 11 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it, haven't played anything else since I got it. It has map progression using fuel resource like FTL or Breachway, the combat feels like XCOM lite. There's lots of looting so you're always looking for better gear and weapons. Lots of unlocks and progression and a pretty cool theme/story which feels a bit like Indiana Jones fighting the Germans in the desert, of course those Germans are messing with occult... cultists and zombies too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic turn based adventures leading you on Indiana Jones-esque dramatic pathways through ancient secrets, rolling deserts, & various natural, inhuman & supernatural enemies. Lots of random situations, fairly forgiving rng based events/combat, & dialogue that draws you into the journeys you are on. You feel connection to your characters where upgrading their stats & getting new gear is exciting. Pathway is fun, well priced, & keeps you going back for more. The drawbacks for the game are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This COULD have been a fun game but it chose to use an unbalanced garbage tactical combat system instead. The gameplay is very much like FTL except that you are in an indiana jones type adventure in the desert with nazis and treasures and rescuing people, etc. The learning curve is IMMENSE and before you know it all your people are dead or in the hospital. Once you actually figure out not only the combat but that you can heal, how you heal/repair both IN combat and outside, you'll be…
