I waited for this game for so long and its finally out! I already played for 2 hours and it's fantastic! Ice-Pick Lodge cannot disappoint. For steam deck users - controls are perfectly supported , but you'll need to lower graphics for smoother experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the sooner players realize this is a Noir Detective Mystery Thriller with time travel and mental health themes and not another Hobo-Survival-Simulator or "Horror Game" the more fun they will have.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you look at the negative reviews they boil down to being confused about why the game is non-linear, the new travel system and the lack of traditional survival mechanics, which is interesting considering how WELL the devs have communicated all of these changes and what this game actually was going to be. So if you don't read or look into things before buying them you may as well give Baldurs Gate 3 a bad review cause its terrible as a First Person Shooter. I guess I went in with the right…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathologic 3 launches on January 9, 2026. A new free demo — an introduction to the full game — is out now on Steam! We’re also unveiling the first of three trailers, each offering a different perspective on Pathologic 3. youtu.be/XcgH-s7vgAY
unlabelledView post →Pathologic 3 is out!!! I did localization editing on it, with several of my friends. We polished the English language game text. If you've ever been interested in Pathologic, you can start with this one - no need to play 2 first. (But you should play both!!!) store.steampowered.com/app/3199650/...
unlabelledView post →Ice-Pick Lodge and team have done it again. Have you perhaps bounced off previous Pathologic games because scrounging for resources and managing primary needs in a Russian Literature Starvation Simulator didn't appeal to you? Well fret not, this time things are different. Not that I personally had any problem with that, by the way, Pathologic 2 is INCREDIBLE. Go play it now! As of the writing of this review, it's on sale for 7 dollars in my region. Phenomenal game. But this time, you're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Usually i don't give early reviews but i wanted to give my first impressions. So first off the PC performance. Rarely have i seen a better optimized game, HUGE respect for actually caring about it, the game runs in 4k native on max settings which is an incredible rarity with modern titles. It also looks amazing, the atmosphere and vibe of the town (from what ive seen) is still there but with lovely little details added everywhere, perhaps a tad less "bleak" then before if thats what you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathologic 2 is one of my favourite games, which is why this one was such a letdown for me. I really don’t like the time-travel stuff at all. Being bounced from day 1 to day 5, then back to day 3, and now being told to go back to day 2 and replay things just feels messy and confusing. Half the time I honestly wasn’t sure if I was even playing it correctly. All I kept thinking was, Why can’t I just start at day 1 and play through normally?” On top of that, a lot of what I loved about…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Firstly, let me start by saying that I came into this game WANTING to like it. Pathologic Classic and 2 are both all-timers for me, and I was excited to see where this new entry would bring the series. Unfortunately, although there were parts that I enjoyed, some glaring issues with mechanic design and tone ultimately undermined what this game was attempting to do experientially. To address the bull in the room, yes, this game is currently riddled with bugs at the time of this review. While…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathologic 3 is a huge departure from the studio's previous works. It leaves behind most of the Survival mechanics of its predecessors for a focus on strategic choices, approaching its narrative via the lens of a Time-Traveling story. If you expected a game in the same vein as P2, you will not find it here. If you are willing to meet it midway, P3 is a worthwhile experience in its own right. - [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6BKk3SOjGc]In-Depth Review -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I deeply sighed before sitting down to write this review. I really didn't want to have to put a negative review for a game in one of my favourite franchises, but I feel compelled to speak my mind on the subject and get this off my chest. Pathologic 3 is a generic indie horror title, almost an Unity asset flip, not a Pathologic game at all. It's Pathologic for those with short attention span. Pathologic for those looking for cheap "cinematic" experiences, rather than the deep narrative…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a mechanic where if your protagonist gets too bored he will literally blow his own brains out with a revolver, and that's really all you need to know to set the stage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you care about video games being something more than just blood-flavored slot machines for old babies, you should buy this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While Pathologic 2 was an excellent game, Pathologic 3 shows an immediate improvement by allowing you to play as the cattiest snark in video game history.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't usually like to post reviews on games I haven't beaten yet, and perhaps I'll change this one once I've done as much. However, for this one, I have too much to say and I feel like I've gotten far enough into the game (day 11) to have a firm grasp on the game's narrative and mechanics. I've read many of the positive reviews as well as the negative ones, and while I tend to agree more with the negative (shocker), I feel that not even they really under what makes this game... well, not bad.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you haven't played Pathologic 2, play Pathologic 3! You will probably enjoy it. If you have played and loved 2, I'm not sure you'll enjoy 3. Personally, playing it makes me miss P2 very badly, and it makes me miss classic too. I understand that they wanted to do something different, but I feel like almost all elements of gameplay have been stripped away. In Pathologic 2, you had to manage- at a minimum- hunger, thirst, exhaustion, immunity, infection, gold, reputation, health, time, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have perused the reviews a bit and have found myself confused by some of the negative reviews. Let me preface everything and say I understand that this game is easier than Pathologic 2 due to the main mechanic of the game allowing you to fix mistakes made, but that doesn't make it any less of a great game. Some people still find the game too hard, while those who loved the absolute hell of the previous games (myself included), are unhappy that this game does not completely continue that cycle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Are you looking for something unique among Steam's overhelming number of games? Look no further. There's drugs, time travel, weird creatures, eccentric characters, plenty of mysteries to solve, and conversations that literally make you shoot yourself. All while exploring a town with some of the most unique world-building I've seen in gaming. The fact that this game even exist is a minor miracle given the years of hardships that the devs went through. It's a big depature from their previous…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels as though IPL is attempting to coast off of the goodwill of the community. If this thing wasn't called "Pathologic," I don't think the reviews would be nearly as positive. This franchise has an emotional meaning to a lot of people, "the most important games you have never played" and such. However, when this thing is taken in isolation, it's just mascot horror more than anything else. Boring gameplay that just wastes your time, essential story elements hidden completely out of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have never played a Pathologic game before: Pathologic 3 is a survival horror game focused primarily on its story. The game has a heavy emphasis on the atmosphere of the town you will be exploring. The game evokes strong feelings, from the expertly written dialogue to the plague-demon chase sequences through infected districts. Unlike modern horror games, it does not rely on cheap jumpscares--instead focusing more on letting the player stew in their own, anxiety-ridden thoughts. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathologic 3 is literally a game about failure and being stretched too thin, thrown into a doomed no-win situation. There's no saves and loads. Instead, failure and death lets you hop around the timeline to try and fix things one thread at a time. It is also the funniest game in the series by far.
unlabelledView post →As a huge fan of Pathologic 2 I really REALLY wanted to enjoy this game but there are some design choices that keep me from being able to love this game like I did that last one. It's to the point that I tried to get a refund cause I was so disappointed with this game. Let me get the small stuff out of the way. There's a lot more typos in this than in the second game. I understand this is a bigger game and normally I wouldn't mind but I feel it shows a lack of polish. The writing feels way…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I appreciated Pathologic 2 and bought this game because of it, but P3 is buggy enough to frustrate and halt my progress in too many ways. It's gotten so frustrating I'll have to give up playing until they can ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it through patches. Firstly the time traveling nature of the game isn't done well enough to warrant it. It feels like an extended version of P2 where I'm forced to 100% each day to be certain I can get everything done. There is seemingly no reason to do later days earlier than a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The very first thing most potential players want to know is how Pathologic 3 compares to Pathologic 2. I would personally argue that Pathologic 2 is the more immersive game of the two. However, Pathologic 3 is the more cerebral or complex entry in terms of game design. Pathologic 2, because it was a punishingly difficult open world game, allowed for a certain kind of emergent gameplay that is deliberately foreign to Pathologic 3. Pathologic 3 is a very delicate as well as intentionally put…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathologic 3 is out tomorrow - I'm very confident that this one is going to be a gem, given that the two (very different) demos were both equally excellent. Also a perfectly fine place for people to start. It's one third of a three-parallel-part remake of the original Pathologic.
unlabelledView post →releasing a game with this many game breaking bugs is... a choice. if you like pathologic, you'll like it regardless. i do NOT recommend to new fans at the current state
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the third time I am playing this game so I will try to be quicker this time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, all the systems you knew from 2 are gone and are objectively worse. They removed so many things I don't understand why they don't make a visual novel at this point. There is no sense of gameplay and nothing interesting to do while "playing" this story.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh dang, Pathologic 3's out just after the holiday break. Loved the demos (plural) for that. Still impressed at how completely different a game it is despite sharing an engine, setting, characters, etc.
unlabelledView post →Yes. Yes it's different from P2. Yes, it's still quite a bit broken. Yes, it's verbose. Yes, it's longer than all three campaigns of P1 combined. Yes, some characters have been changed. Yes, it's still enthralling. Yes, it's still unique, even more so than P2. Yes, it's still incredibly well written. Yes, it's still funny and weird. Yes, it's still sad and crushing. Yes, it understands game and narrative design in a way few do. Yes, I think you should try it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Pathologic, and that includes Pathologic 3. This is the first game in at least a decade that I bought on the day of release. I’ve been hyped since the first announcement years ago. I downloaded Quarantine on release, and the demo on release, so by the time the full game launched I knew what to expect and how different it would be from P2. P2 and P3 are wildly different games. Liking P2 doesn’t mean you’ll like P3, and disliking P2 doesn’t mean you’ll dislike P3. Many of the core…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is depressing. The townsfolk are obstinate, the steppe people look down on you, the children are annoying, and the ruling families are uppity aristocratic asshats. 10/10, I am in a constant state of switching between apathy and mania, and this is BEFORE starting the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPD after finishing game: It is one of the most interesting and unique game I ever played. It starting very slow, but it open up later. I definitely recommend it, but be prepared to made some hard chooses. In my opinion best game in pathologic series so far. I hope team will made Changeling route as next game. I’m a long-time fan of the series and have played the previous Pathologic games. Instead of making a safe remake, the developers took a genuinely bold approach and changed the core…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was hoping for Pathologic 2 with a focus on Bachelor-relevant characters and new mechanics that differentiate him from other protagonists. What I got instead was something that feels like an experimental expansion pack for P2 akin to a bonus game mode. In P2 you had a fairly extensive world to explore that included many interiors, characters, district behaviour dictated by reputation and plague along with story points to chase up, with the catch being that you had to plan carefully for the day…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish I could recommend this... But the game's approach to updating the mechanics from Patho2 really plays to the detriment, and the entire thing feels like an amateur fan fiction. Original and part 2 were really flawed, but were very easy to fall invested in their world and characters and push through the difficulty. This game throws out survival and time management mechanics without, arguably, providing worthy substitutes. And it also feels quite raw in many technical, scripting and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short review: An unfortunate decrease in writing quality from Pathologic 2. Not a *bad* standalone game, but as a game that is directly intended to exist alongside Pathologic Classic/HD and Pathologic 2, it’s disappointing. It tried, but failed. I respect it for trying at all, I’ll say that! But… it’s still disappointing. As a more in-depth way of responding to things, I’ll split things into three categories. So, the good: - Nonlinearity and replaying days represents Daniil’s inability to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing game and a world you can get drowned in once again (for the third time for some), still marred with some technical hiccups, some unfinished and cut ideas, as well as exactly one instance of moon logic. Still, this game takes so many risks mechanically, aesthetically and narratively that it's impressive just for the fact that it came out coherent and playable. This is one of the rare occasions when I play a game and it really hits me that videogames are an extremely young and…

unlabelledView post →tl;dr play Classic or 2 instead I loved Classic and 2 but 3 just struggles to engage me. Poor pacing, watered down survival and gameplay mechanics, excess repetition, grinding, poor immersion, the game is way too long... The writing has neither the mystery and abstractness of Classic, nor the brevity and efficacy of 2. Dialogue tends to feel verbose for its own sake. Trying out new mechanics and things as a developer is nice, but I think this game was fumbled. I'm not sure who it's for. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m still amazed how they managed to tell the same story - with the same characters, the same locations, and the same motives - three times, and somehow make it just as convoluted, intense, and intriguing as it was 20 years ago. If the first Pathologic was a confusing art experiment by David Lynch after drinking fermented steppe milk, the second was a survival horror where food is rarer than hope and every decision feels morally illegal, then the third is an addictive detective roguelike about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me: "Okay, I'm about to hit day x, I'm pretty sure I'm nearing the end of Pathologic 3. This game feels shorter and less complex than previous versions." Pathologic 3:
unlabelledView post →Oh yeah, I've had a chance to poke at some of the post-game shenanigans going on in Pathologic 3. If I could, I'd bump the review score up another couple percent despite the scripting bugs (being patched) getting gnarly in the late-game. They have FUN with time travel and the framing mechanics.
unlabelledView post →i don't need water, sex, sleep, food, friends, or pretty much anything anymore. i have this game, and that's all that matters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly think Pathologic 2 is the best game in its genre. What really bothers me, though, is that the developers removed what I consider the best part of it in Pathologic 3: the survival aspect in open world. Having to scrape together money and food, fight looters, and just barely survive in this brutal city—while also trying to unravel its mystery and save everyone—was what made the game special. They dropped this in Pathologic 3, and yeah, I think that’s a mistake. Pathologic 2 worked so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the very vocal minority of the fanbase are unbearable, its imperative you judge the game without considering them. (reddit). they are so deluded that they believe the embarassing fanfics they've read are more canon than the actual videogames.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a phenomenal game, truly a beautiful and unique addition to the series that piques so much curiosity. Its complexity adds to the fun. It strangely feels like coming home. Patho 3 may be a bit easier and more accessible than Patho 2, but I dare say mostly to those who are familiar with the previous games, given the gathered knowledge. Newcomers might find their first fun steppe vacation to be rather confusing as well as challenging. Despite the improvements and slightly different approach,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In short: They look the survival out of my survival horror :C I absolutely adored Pathologic 2, it dug itself into my brain until I 100%'d it and I had a fantastic time doing so. I was VERY much looking forward to playing this story from a new point of view, as I have not yet played the original Pathologic. The story isn't disappointing, and I have been enjoying seeing different sides of some of these storylines. As far as the other "pros" for me, I do find the time travel mechanic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, this is unbelievable. Ice Pick Lodge physically cannot ship a bad game. The definitive edition of Daniil Dankovsky's Fun Steppe Vacation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More polished, but also more restricted, less emergent, less hard and less open. I do not like that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot recommend, even or especially as a fan of the previous game. Gameplay mechanics aren't fun or interesting, systems can often be easily trivialised due to their poor design or lack of thought about how they interact with other systems, narrative is dragged out, there's nothing horror about this game and it's barely psychological, and... honestly, I'm too disappointed to bother wasting any more time putting more detail into this review. I've put 60 hours into the game hoping to find its…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games haven't earned the right to have dialogue yet... Ok disco elysium and pathologic can have dialogue but no other games are allowed to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have lots of thoughts about this game. I've browsed the negative reviews and I have interestingly ponder if some players did not grasp some mechanics, which is an important thing to consider when reviewing a game. I also think there's enough intent to almost classify this game as an anti-game and a game at the same time which might lead to some people's frustration compared to their expectation that this game would surpass Pathologic 2. I *personally* celebrate and enjoyed the ways I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What else is there to say? Pathologic is one of those games that actually matters. Pathologic 3 feels like a simplified version of that. The story, the atmosphere, the characters, they’re still there. That part still hits. But the gameplay… it honestly feels like playing Dark Souls with godmode on. There’s no real sense of danger, no constant “I’m barely holding this together” stress, no worrying about your stats or your choices in the same way. A lot of it feels like an entry-level Pathologic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Pathologic 3 prologue, much like the Marble Nest 'demo' for the previous game, seems to be a standalone story, so no need to skip on it even if you're going to get the full game I love how Daniil being a constantly self-medicating bipolar egotist is represented in mechanics. You HAVE to act out
unlabelledView post →Has an argument for game of the decade. In the least it's almost certainly my game of the year. Couldn't recommend this game any more highly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One thing I have picked up about Pathologic 3 from watching @codexentry.bsky.social & crew's streams is that the game really IS hugely non-linear. The time travel stuff isn't messing around. There's stuff they're only just discovering at day 9-10 that I had completely done before unlocking day 7.
unlabelledView post →They're doing things with the medium that we're not seeing anywhere else. The writing is outstanding, I have never seen a script respect my intelligence so much. The humor is amazing, one of the funniest games I've played in a while. However, the game has some awful design decisions that can completely ruin the experience. The "survival" mechanics with the Mania and Apathy system do not work and actually lessen the overall experience. This system is either too easy to manage and becomes…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →daniil dankovsky's terrible horrible no good very bad steppe vacation and subsequent police interrogation. this man doesn't eat or drink for 12 days save for drinking morphine and eating straight up coffee beans, of course he's fighting death anyone would be with that diet. 10/10 masterpiece of a game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review at 13 hours in: Incredible so far, but should NOT be your first entry of the franchise. The game is presented in such a way where its' gameplay and narrative enjoyment are predicated on you being at least somewhat familiar with the first 2 games. I hated my first run at Pathologic 3. The next day I tried it again and loved it. 2 weeks later I'm obsessed with it. Pathologic 3 is bizarre. Not just as a game, but as an occurrence in game development. It is shaping up to be a fantastic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dumbest decision ever was to change open-world gameplay to fast travel, even just to walk a few steps between districts. And it would be okay if it was just one stupid decision, but the whole gameplay is just terrible in this new game. You've done too much unnecessary work, and instead of making a normal game like the original 2005, instead of slightly improving the gameplay with new elements, expanding the story and UI: You decided to jump above your head, but ended up hitting the ceiling.
