It's a little slow to start, but it BUILDS. *-Or maybe I just have a toddler, and this movie is about the universal parental fear of someone hurting/scaring your toddler while you sleep.

unlabelledView post →I can tell you where this trap leads, because it is what happened on Scary Movie 5, where they did massive reshoots to try and parody Mama, which came out after principal photography as a Paranormal Activity spoof. It went terribly. They even threw in an Evil Dead 2013 bit based on the *trailer*.

unlabelledView post →I recently watched Paranormal Activity for the first time. What a funny film to arrive on the cusp of universal access to cheap, high-quality phone cameras. A total time capsule. The premise is that the protagonist's inability to stop recording unremarkable daily life gradually invites horror. Huh!

unlabelledView post →Watched the 2020 movie Host, which is a horror film about a seance gone wrong during a zoom call. It was made during lockdowns, and I was surprised at how intense it got at times. Reminded me of the Paranormal Activity films. And no, it has nothing to do with the Stephenie Meyer book lol

unlabelledView post →Because it is spooky month, a horror movie take. Imo the Paranormal Activity movies are incredibly boring, because the premise of horror from the point of view of a security camera works better as a game than as a movie. Having some actual urgency while looking at the camera footage makes it scary.

unlabelledView post →I was angrily texting @bowsnonk.bsky.social after exiting PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. A 90-minute home movie of two insufferable bickering dipshits leading to one (1) jump scare. The director only made it to write off a home renovation and is now a multimillionaire.

unlabelledView post →The film that scared me the most was 'Paranormal Activity'. It was the simplicity and how it opened the door and let your imagination do the heavy lifting. The scariest book I've read of late is 'Incidents Around the House'. It put me in touch with the child version of myself that was afraid of everything.
unlabelledView post →I just watched Paranormal Activity for the first time. I watched it with the alternate ending first and then I went back and watched the theatrical ending. I think the alternate ending is objectively better whereas the original is kind of cheesy. The original actually made me jump though so I can't argue with its effectiveness. I see there is seven of these movies. Are they actually worth watching? As for movie one, pretty good. It creeped the fuck out of me.
