60 of 180 · most liked firstConcise reviews for the Painkiller series in order of what you should play Painkiller Black Edition: Great oldschool no messing around shoot things from point A to B using a variety of weapons, for such and old game the gunplay (especially the shotgun) is strangely satisfying. Painkiller Hell & Damnation: A remake of the OG and as a result, it is a solid entry worth playing, albeit similar. A lot of changes were made some for the best some watering down the experience, but ultimately if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I haven't googled it or anything but it seems each Painkiller game was made by a different developer and that sure seems to explain the extremely random level of quality for each of these games. Some of them are pretty awesome little shooter games. Others feel like junkware inspired by Painkiller rather than a new game .... Like this one! Wtf happened?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.” ~Peter Drucker “When in doubt, sell Painkiller mods.” Funny how that became a motto. On the other hand, it’s really, like, really sad how the series got completely f*cked up right after the very first entry. I mean, it only had one proper game. And after that? It was, like, one long downfall. The official expansion (called Battle Out of Hell) felt like People Can Fly were trolling DreamCatcher (their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy Metal Demon Slaying Horde FPS https://youtu.be/nBizhitsUYk Side Info: I believe this game was originally a mod of the original Painkiller that came out in 2004 + The gameplay is just chaotic fun as you blast your way through never ending waves of demon spawn as you slowly progress from place to place. + Very unique hell themed weapons which each have an alt-fire. Each one is surprisingly enjoyable to use. My favorite was one that lets you throw a small cube anywhere on the map, and then…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Painkiller Redemption was developed by the Eggtooth Team and released in 2011. In this fourth Painkiller installment, you alternately play as Daniel and Belial, the protagonists of Painkiller: Black Edition and Overdose, respectively, as they continue their relentless battle against the forces of evil. As the saying goes, "Don't fix what ain't broken." The gameplay, graphics, enemies, environments, and music remain virtually unchanged. Well, almost. You'll find nearly all the weapons from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apparently it is a bunch of fan made levels. For some reason sold as a full game. In summary, just a waste of time even to install this "miracle". It is totally repetitive, extremely short and deprived of any imitation of imaginativeness and ideas. It makes no sense to bother with Redemption, neither the fun will be innovative, nor it will allow you to feel any entertainment. It is better to once again reach for any of the previous Painkiller games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a fan-made mod that got picked up by the game dev company and is now being sold as a standalone game by itself. Needless to say that the final product feels buggy and incomplete and leaves a lot to be desired. The entire premise of the game is that you must go through a series of confined rooms and tight hallways to reach the end of the level. Every few steps a castle grate slams down behind your back and in front of the room exit, leaving you trapped in cramped, claustrophobic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game makes no sense at all and the controlling is maeh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game provides you with two things: Tons of enemies (literally thousands), and the firepower to slaughter them all. If you are not capable of enjoy that simple premise, do not buy this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks like a bad game studio tried to recreate ''hellish'' Serious Sam
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I played this... I had a small wee wee, no friends, no girlfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the first Painkiller i'm not gonna bother with this awful series even tho i bought all the games years ago. My time is better spent on other games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →there is no redemption for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lets put it this like a car Painkiller is the OG car Painkiller OD(Overdose) is the same car with good modifications Painkiller Resurrection a 2nd different car but broken and unfinished that tried to be the 1st car with parts of mods given in OD that made it in a way better. Painkiller redemption is the OG car but the good parts are gone Belial is there but he is plain no voice over when you kill daemons WHERE IS MY "CALL ME JOHNNY APPLE SEED." no fun quotes that made the game more enjoyable.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the most part painkiller games are awesome and pretty simple. You shoot, things explode and fall apart and you and up with a very satisfying face. But some of the games take that concept for granted. Much like this one. The sections are very small and the enemies that come at you is always ludicrous. The enemy types are not spawned gradually and there is not really that much ammunition for you to fight the huge hordes of enemies. It is sort of fun shooting game but nothing compared to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game called Painkiller Redemption it sure isn't redeemable, and it causes a lot of pain.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There’s no painkiller strong enough to numb the agony of playing this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waste of money. Unmitigated bore. Bland weapons, pretty much a wave defense in tiny arenas as you just flee from the ever-encroaching swarm of enemies and scramble for ammo to insert into one of your bland guns. Even as a diehard FPS fan, this gets a definite 'pass' Save your money. Even on sale, look for something else. You probably won't have fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Painkiller Redemption- the game where you find yourself exasperated, repeating the words "they just keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spawning" over and over again in increasing desperation. All of the faults of Overdose are here, and NONE of the charm from the original is found. Instead of being themed (like how in the first game there were levels like the asylum or the carnival that featured unique scenery and enemies) all the levels in Redemption are themed around boring concrete walls and floors with no unique…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They literally stole the multiplayer maps from the first Painkiller, added some of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster spawns I’ve ever seen, and charged money for it under the guise of a full-fledged game. It’s just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insult. Remember those crappy multiplayer map rehashes for the original PC release of Halo CE? This is the exact same thing, but with a price tag. Stay the hell away from this abomination.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stay away from this garbage and play original painkiller instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →doing my part to push this title below “Mixed” where it belongs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's 50/50. Redemption was the very first ''Painkiller-Containing product'' I played after the original games. I was quite surprised to see that I did miss something earlier. Little did I know... I hadn't really missed much after all. It's fine if you REALLY want to play something that's at least related to Painkiller. Otherwise, skip this one. I had fun playing it in 2016, but overall it's just an attempt to somehow shove Serious Sam into Painkiller, since you just get hundreds of arenas and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I need a painkiller after playing this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mindless close quarters slaughter. Could be fun for some.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, this shouldn't be even a game its just ARENA mod that should have been included in original painkiller basically you constantly kill huge amount of monsters in the small areas its fun to blast big packs of monsters, but then you do it for 20+ minutes in the level hat have 1k+ monsters fun disappears really quickly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So many of you know, I am going through the Painkiller series from the start again, so far this is the worst. This feels more like a room escape, not much story going on just take a few steps and you're in a new room with hordes of enemies. The final level kept freezing at the point of completion, had to replay the level about 10 times, and even then just had to sit on the freeze for 15 minutes just to actually 'complete'. I guess for a couple of quid, what do you expect, but I certainly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible game. Anti-Russian company that doesn't mind selling to evil countries like Israel and the US, despite their constant child murder and genocide. By the way, Ukraine has been at war for 8 years with 13, 000 dead (don't worry, they were mainly only Russian-Ukraines, and most of them were adults). There are currently 40 wars worldwide. Israel shot a boy a few days ago for throwing a stone at a tank. The US senate must swear allegiance to Israel.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This feels different than painkiller, the music is there, the game play is kinda sorta there but the general feeling is gone. Bunny hopping for example does work, not very well but it works. But the monster count is far far FAR too much. The first level has a little over 1100 enemies, that does not seem so bad but there is no speed, the music is pushing you to go fast and have fun but its all just managing ammo sure you can move fast but whats the point? The monsters dont give you any reason…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game crashes on loading screens, on switching taro cards, on killing the boss of the first act, on explosions caused by multiple boxes, crashes on everything! Dont know why such bugged unfinished garbage is even sold on steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing expansion!!! If you enjoyed Painkiller Black and Overdose (let´s skip Resurrection as it was terrible in every way) you will enjoy Redemption. I highly recommend that you play the previous games first because I think this expasion is a lot harder. The difficulty gets insane. Only Overdose on some stages (especially in Trauma) comes closer to some maps of Redemption. The gameplay is something really amazing here and it´s the aspect of the game that most shines. It changes a bit the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, time for an honest review. You liked slaughtering demons in the original Painkiller? Well, developers of Redemption thought that the numbers of enemies per level weren't enough, so they boosted them up. I mean, they went to space. Have you ever seen an anthill? Well, they shove you into it right at the start of the first level. 900 enemies in the first level? Wait until you get ones with over a thousand. The levels themselves are just multiplayer maps put into the single player campaign.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh dear. It is so bad it hurts. Don't believe the mixed reviews. It is utter crap. Resurrection with the last patch is actually decent and levels are beautiful. This Redemption (for the players, not for the developers for sure) uses all the multiplayer level from the original Painkiller. And the only thing they came to make it interesting was infesting every little room with hundreds of enemies. Enemies that we all have seen in the previous games. If you want some extra punishment, this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Dreadfully paced gameplay. -5 maps out of 8 are multiplayer maps from the first Painkiller. -No new weapons. No new ennemies. Should have been a mod; not even worth its 5$ price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really a very good Painkiller game for me, it is action like no other Painkller. The soundtracks in the levels are also like no other Painkiller. 8 maps its like a room fighting simulator most opponents it even come 30-60 opponents at once. This painkiller is only for someone who wants little Story and many hordes of monsters. I love the music of Painkiller Redemption. Not everybody likes this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty bad level design even for a fan game. Each level consists of featureless box-like cramped areas, and each area has 100-200 spawns. It's gets really tedious fast since you have to spend maybe 5-10 minutes clearing every box.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible mod and boring
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty uninspiring Painkiller game but it's at least fun to play, on the contrary to Resurrection. An okay meat grinder for an evening with a big amount of enemies, familiar Daniel/Belial characters and weapons. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fan-made mod that was noticed by the Devs and is now a standalone game. Good but has it's problems
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →40/100 Not gonna sound so harsh in this review. This game is definitely not the worst game in existence, but it's not absolutely very good either! I'd say it's just ok/average. It can be fun indeed at times, but it will also get very repetitive due to the endless spawns of enemies. You literally spend hours of your life in these questionable designed levels with no ammo (on higher difficulties) and thousands of enemies inside small spaces (because the egniot team dudes thought this would be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely Redemption, but they sure did have a hard time moving this series forward..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Painkiller Redemption is an example of just how bad a video game can get long after the franchise already jumped the shark. It's a 3D first person wave survival arena shooter, and fans of Painkiller might put their finger in the air ready to dispute me on that, but that's the point I'm making. Historically, the Painkiller franchise is basically a supernatural/undead/hell themed Quake ripoff where you kill the baddies, find the key, flip the switch and bumble on to the next level without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So after Overdose and Resurrection, we got yet another dev from nowhere making new levels for Painkiller. This one feels even more like a low effort shovelware. There is I think nothing new featured here, it's a dumbed down product in almost every way. Graphics is basically the same, same issues with fullscreen lock, and problems with alt+tabbing. I also feel like fov is lower than previously. At least the loading times are better, since levels are insanely small. So we can move to gameplay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable garbage, level 2 was enough.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game totally worth the price! The levels are not unique like those from Painkiller black but you can enjoy it if you dont think about this. At least you can play in all characters, have plenty of ammo and also hordes of monsters to kill. The only bad thing is that is very short, i finished it in just 3 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you hate this game, it's completely ok, cause it's not for everyone. It is an extremely cheaply done challengling game. The game spawns hundreds of enemies (about 30 at a time and repeats it until you kill like 200 in the same room) in very tiny areas for most of the game. Recommended if you want very hard, violent shooter in tight spaces. Some levels were very fun like level 3 and 5. The game becomes extremely repetetive especialy at level 6 there you kill a bunch of enemies and then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →better than the original in e v e r y way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →damn daniel, back at it again with belial this game sucks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mod that doesn't bring anything interesting to continue playing. I felt bored and annoyed after the countless waves of enemies spawning at each area of the levels. Sometimes I felt like the game was trolling me in the begining, where I thought I was able to progress through the next area but then my path would be blocked and more hundreds of enemies would spawn. The game can be too complex because of the small environment with limited ammunition, health, armor and depending on the difficulty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unless u like staying in a small room for 5minutes, killing enemies till you run out of ammo and have to use a boring weapon, and repeating it dozens of times(700+ enemies per level). Buy the other PAINKILLERS! Mainly Black Edition...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really disliked this attempt at making Painkiller more like Serious Sam. The levels are very long and the balance is weird. I quickly ran out of ammo which meant running in circles and chasing every soul. At least they fixed the painfully slow loading of past Painkiller games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know what would make an arena shooter with loads of enemies fun? Having ammo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →over hated this is a pretty mid game but its stupid fun. feels like something i would have made
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one is quite fun, but also repetitive. The amount of enemies that come at you is quite fun, some real nonstop massacre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is much too hardcore... :-( I cannot recommend it... Sry...
