Ah yes, another game starring Gene Rick McDudeface. Man this is a blast from the past. I remember loving this game back in the day. One of the lost/hidden gems of gaming. When it came out, it used the revolutionary then voxel render technology, using software instead of hardware to "draw" the world and characters. Not to mention they got the Moscow Symphonic Orchestra to do the soundtrack for the game. This game is one of the most "organic" game that ever was, in every sense of the word: its…

No "re-imagining", "tailoring it to the current audience" or "adding a few new artistic ideas" bs. Just an already perfect game updated with better graphics. Now if someone could redo Gothic II and VtM Bloodlines the same way, my life will be complete.

I understand the game was once great 20 years ago, but it's not great in 2021. Recommendation: Look for something else. Looks like the reason the game is getting so many positive reviews is because of players who loved this game when it was released back 20 years ago, but if you are like me, someone who has never played it before and have no emotional ties to the original, then I recommend you to drop this.

Do not attempt to buy this game if you dont have any nostalgic memories with original. Dont be fooled by reviews, its a pretty mediocre game. Its a bad shooter, bad platformer, the plot is designed to kill you with boredom. Just dont.

A shot-for-shot remake of my favorite adventure game, with updated graphic engine and gamepad support. This is the version that you want (not Outcast 1.1) if you are new to the game. Not without its bugs, but I played with Steam's Proton compatibility software on Ubuntu Linux, with no graphic rendering issues or slowdowns. I had to use the launch option "-window-mode exclusive" to get playable framerates, but otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend this for linux gamers. It is currently available…

Jumping mechanics like the old Tomb Raider games had me pulling my hair out but Outcast is alright other that that. Outcast is a remaster that maintains the feeling of the original version, driven by a good narrative structure that puts the player in a big world populated by different alien races that give a lot of different quests. Instead the gameplay is old and unfriendly and graphics that dont hold up.

If you are gonna charge people for a re-skinned really old game, fix the bugs first. I could have enjoyed the game had I not had so many stuck character, bugged questlines, object interaction bugs, etc.

As much as I want to, I just can't recommend the remake. The bugs and the lack of adaptation to modern times (apart from the graphics) weigh too heavily. The remake unfortunately feels like it was just graphically reworked and even bugs were left in for the sake of nostalgia. Even though it was nice to spend a few hours back in the (gaming) past, all the glitches really annoy you (Cutter moves and jumps with similar agility as a tank; NPCs float in the air or freeze before a story conversation;…

I'll start by first stating that I know this game is a remake of a game that came out in 1999, so it cant fully be judged by todays standards. *However*, this is probably one of the worst games I've ever played. The controls are genuinely abysmal, I hate side rolling whenever I try to move. It almost feels like they're more of a suggestion, than actual controls. The camera is also absolutely nauseating, and seems to move wherever it feels like, creating a sense of motion sickness that I've…

Outcast - Second Contact is a remastered version of the cult classic action-adventure game originally released in 1999. Developed by Appeal Studios, this updated edition seeks to preserve the charm and innovation of the original while bringing the experience into the modern era with improved visuals, enhanced audio, and refined gameplay mechanics. This is a remake of a game from the 90s that nobody remembers. A lot of the side missions are fetch quests, the controls are clunky especially when you try to platform, and the camera gets really really up close and personal whenever you go inside buildings and the gunplay is about on par with the very first Hitman game. But aside from that I still found the game incredibly charming. My advise to those who are interested in this game is to only do the side missions that you find interesting and…

Remaster of an old game. Little janky, but overall decent fun, it has a heart, and I could finally play it properly - as a kid I couldn't really read English, so I had no idea what to do, but the game had a certain appeal to me. Now, with some updated graphics I could enjoy it properly.

I'd never heard of Outcast until I saw 'A New Beginning' pop up in my steam store feed, I thought it looked like it could be a good game, has a decent price tag and I'm a sucker for open world experiences (as long as we aren't talking Assassins Creed stupidity levels of size that ask for too much of your time). Then I took note of the fact that it said its a sequel and quickly took back to the store to see if it was on steam...lo and behold there it was, or at least two versions...the original,…

Duration: 16 hours. Genre: Open-world over the shoulder shooter RPG. I wasn't expecting much from this remake, but after a couple hours I was fully engaged with the story, characters and quests. I wanted to complete every side quest that I could find. Some of the quests had interesting puzzle-elements and most had some sort of twist on the fetch-quests so common in the genre. Yes, the combat is awkward, but not difficult. (Use mouse and keyboard and disable auto-targeting). Movement and…

So I can recommend it for people who experienced it already and new players alike. +Improved graphics +Improved movement speed +UI and map +Fixed some animations, but -That also removed some of the charm. -Uglier talan. Steam needs a yes but no review option. I paid $2 for this, so yes, it is playable, but it is ridiculously dialogue heavy, and full of vague quests. You have to do some things in the right order, or options are not available, meaning you just run around in circles. Hopefully the sequel is a lot better,t he potential is there.

I really want to thank the devs for this. Back in 2010 the original Outcast was already 11 years old and I, being a teen with no money and a low specs PC pirated the original Outcast in order to play it, Ive got fascinated but at the same time overwhelmed by its inmense dept, I could never finish it. Thanks for this, not only I was able to see Adelpha in a whole new and beautiful way buy also I was able to finaly bring closure to something I started 15 years ago.

First off: despite being an older game, it still works flawlessly on modern systems. I've only had a couple random crash but there are lots of auto save so it's fine. I didn't see anyone complain either. However being an older console port, some controls can't be changed. But they're simple so it's no big deal or you can use an xbox controller. As for the game, it's pretty good. It's an old school open world fetch quest adventure so there's a lot of back and forth, which is not for everyone…

EXCELLENT remake of a classic game from the 90's. This is a top-tier remake/reproduction - and it "feels" like I'm playing the original version for the first time. This is how I remember it in all of it's originality and ground-breaking gameplay. If you loved the original OUTCAST or are just Outcast-curious - you can't go wrong here. It does have a few old school drawbacks - mainly no fast travel or one button quicksave - but the gaamsaav system is updated and words just fine for modern needs.…

If you're looking for a "good" game don't play this… --- How can I say that and still recommend it? This game is a piece of gaming history preserved as a remake, along with its original audio and voice recordings. It's a very OK game, but it's not particularly good by modern standards. But it is an interesting look into early open world game development and a nostalgia trip for those who lived through the 1990's gaming era. Disclaimer I finished the original's 1.1 re-release and then I finished this shortly after for a good comparison. TL;DR It does some things better, some things worse. While the original felt sloppy in an oldschool way - this remake feels like a typical sloppy low-budget modern game. It still has the same basic structure as the original and as such is still a good game at it's core. Most problems come from modern graphics making it difficult to see items and some issues with controls. If you…

An honest remake of the ancient game, which ravished the world back in the last milenia creating a genre we know as Open World today. So how does the game actually hold up for gamers like me who don't have the nostalgia to enhance the experience. Quite well in fact - however, I'd tell as an allegory that if you put a brand new engine and a trunk on 50s Ferrari it still would lack things like modern suspension, automatic gearbox and power steering. Slippery controls, dodgy gunplay, bullet sponge mobs but the story is solid and the scenery with all it's NPCs are very atmospheric. It's important to know what you're getting with Second Contact. This is very much a remaster, not a remake. The graphics aren't as chunky, and there are some very welcome quality of life changes, but at its core, this is a 26 year old game. Outcast presents a short, open world 3rd-person shooter with questing elements. I played the original in 1999 and was struck then by 5 aspects that stuck with me: voxel graphics, gunplay, voice acting, action-movie cliche story elements (especially the time-travel twists) and the music. Revisiting this game in 2026 via the 2017 remaster, it's a bit sobering to realize it's been 27 years since I first played the game and already 9 years since this remaster was created. Excellent revamp of the classic game. Voice acting and musical score are still top notch.
