[url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AI_slop]Warning: AI Slop This game is partially made with talentless, soulless AI generated content. The developer intentionally bypassed Valve's requirement to declare the use of AI Slop in a deliberate attempt to mislead gamers into paying money for AI Slop. Outbreak Island is a somewhat low-key asset flip. While the game is made primarily out of other people's assets, with placeholder/stock assets and engine elements all taken from asset stores, a lot…

I know it seems in bad faith to spend 30 minutes on a game and leave a negative review, but I promise I have good reasons. In 30 minutes I: Mashed through a dozen tutorials for things that don't need tutorials. Had access to my truck, my farm, storage, food plots, repair and crafting stations and everything else I would normally spend hours trying to acquire in any other survival game. Explored 2 POIs around my farm. Had a bunch of ammo, full fuel and water storage, a truck full of full fuel…

Oh man I remember this! I've been waiting for it. >New Game >Immediately hit with soft cartoony ChatGPT AI Art for cutscenes No Disclosure for it on the store page. Voice acting is more than likely AI too. Melee has no weight and a magnum sounds like a firecracker. I'm good, man. Give me my $10 back.

Not only is this game an asset-flip. It's full of ai written notes and quest text. The painting in-game are all ai slop generated. And the screenshots on the store page might seem interesting but most of the map is just empty forest. Would never recommend this to anyone.

So I gave it just under 2hours for the ability to refund if needed. It was not for me. Not really as described. I was expecting a loot and craft by day and survive and hide at night. Something closer to 7D2D. TL;DR: Game discription is false. Wood is limited in what is essentially a forest. NO crafting your own base. NO defending at night. Resouces are NOT scarce. This was not the case. Night came and the world was as empty as it was during the day time. The only difference is that if you…

Yes, I'm refunding it. Some of the game's brilliant - the nighttime being the only time where some parts of the world become available AND when the zombies get serious is a great move. That said, it's still very rough. It has a core loop that's solid, but it runs into a nasty case of "why are there so many trees and I can't cut any of them down" and "why can my truck be thwarted by a creaky, old wooden fence". Rebuilding the farm there looks like some kind of Pyrrhic victory, and the crafting…

Don't just DON'T Rigid - Overly complicated - Bare bones sandbox - Basic basic combat If you need more then feel free to read on. Ok so I've already Alt F4'd from the game. The game just doesn't feel good. So far it has the feel of a completed Unity game tutorial. Breadcrumb gaming - One mandatory step to the next to the next. An example of this is when you show up to the farm house and can't pick a key up off the table because it's not time yet. You can't read a book because it's not time…

I originally added this to my wishlist in 2022, and although I'd completely forgotten it existed over the years, I was delighted to see that it finally got into Early Access! I gotta say, it's not bad! It's got far more than I anticipated it should, such as gathering, crafting, repairing, vehicles, lockpicking, a skill system, cooking, fishing, renovation of housing, farming, PLENTY of points of interest to explore, and combat feels good. That's always a huge concern of mine when a new game…

Cool concept, but it's another game that is neither a crafting or a looting game.... You only loot crafting material, and you can't craft anything cool without a specific lootable.... like a broken assault rifle is needed to make an assault rifle... it's the worst of both genres and your time doesn't feel respected.... artificially inflated with nothing unique to make it worth your while.

This game is painfully dull: empty maps and NPCs that are unbelievably stupid. Like, *impossibly* stupid. You can literally jog past zombies, soldiers often don’t notice you either, and when they do, they’ll happily shoot through walls like physics is optional. Progression is a mess, too. There’s a key/quest bug (or at best terrible quest design), especially around the third scientist. The developer clearly expects you to follow one “correct” route, but in reality you can explore half the map…

The first time I saw this game, I was genuinely hyped, hoping it would be a mix of Project Zomboid, State of Decay, and The Long Dark. The pictures, the description, and the title looked very promising. But after finishing the intro and completing a few tasks, I realized the game is still in a very early state. It feels too bland, raw, and empty. After 25 years of gaming, you see when things feel “off”, like the way assets and environments are placed, the missing sounds, the overall lack of…

I saw this game lurking on a streamer’s page, whispering “early access… future hit…” like some cursed prophecy. And foolish mortal that I am, I believed it. I was wrong. Tragically. Horrifically. Astronomically wrong. The moment I started playing, the vibes were off. Not “subtle uncanny,” not “mysterious slow burn.” No. This felt like the entire game was stitched together by an AI trapped in a basement with only Wikipedia and vibes to survive. The story? Hollow. Not recommended at this time. Needs SERIOUS work. Literally took six tries just to get the game to load once I'd downloaded it. Longest I was able to play when it finally DID load was maybe 20 minutes before it crashed. Game looks good, has potential, but none of that matters when it doesn't work to begin with.

TL:DR (this is a long-ish post); Mini review and update suggestions. Game is great and has huge potential but needs work. Okay, lemme start off by saying this game is GREAT! Both in Concept and execution (mostly). The concept of there only being electricity for a few hours each night is amazing and such a unique thing, the only problem is it can be easily exploited in the game's current state. Otherwise most everything else is decent. The gun play is nice but the guns seem a bit weak, the…

Almost 10 hours into the game, I can see a lot of asset flipped buildings and some items like the AK you can see right through the vents near the barrel of the weapon (there isn't any barrel in there lol). Whatever though, I cannot recommend this game YET but it does have some great potential. This isn't a bad thing, I still think it's worth 10-15 dollars, because even I spend 15 dollars on a movie and it's 2 hours, this has given me my money's worth. The game feels clunky and unpolished. Character movement is stiff, animations are dull, and the plot is incoherent. Quests don’t work properly, and the menu looks rough. There are no levels, no experience points, and enemies just disappear without dropping any loot. In its current state, it’s a refund for me, maybe I’ll give it another try in the future.

The game has a lot of problems : - Electricity only at night (= if you explore the world at day you are stucked) - Killing enemies doesn't give XP - Night enemies have no loot - Impossible to build where you want, only renovating a single house - All benches in the world need tools added to it - Tiny world - Lot of QoL problems - Completed quests are still in the quest list. It lacks of freedom like in classic open world survivals. If all these problems are fixed, could be a good game.

Outbreak Island is a game I genuinely like – despite its many rough edges. Visually, it’s fine but nothing special. The bigger issue right now is sound design. Large parts of the game are almost completely silent. When you’re not shooting or driving, you often hear nothing except your own breathing while sprinting. No ambient sounds, barely any music – the world feels far too quiet and empty. And yes, the world itself is still very empty. That said, the solo developer is already working on…

I've only put around 3 hours into Outbreak Island so far, but I'm really enjoying it! As a survival game in Early Access, it already feels promising, especially considering it's developed by a solo dev. First off, addressing one of the biggest complaints I've seen in reviews: the use of AI-generated content. I personally don't see it as a problem at all—especially for a solo developer. Money doesn't grow on trees, and like many indie devs (including myself for my own projects), balancing a…

Yep. It wasn't fun. I'm used to a little more cerebral games, something that makes you think and work and isn't just solely a slog. Take for example in order to get tools you can't simply find them, no, you need to craft them yourself (because you are the world best blacksmith or something?), and every different subcomponent of stuff you need to make needs to be either found or crafted somewhere else that's usually super inconvenient, and you need multiple tools just to make the…

Outbreak Island is a survival horror sandbox where you’re stranded on a remote island haunted by The Flash — a mysterious nightly event that awakens deadly monsters. You’ll scavenge, craft, and build shelters by day, then fight to survive terrifying nights. The atmosphere is tense, the sound design is excellent, and every night feels genuinely dangerous.
