I had dinner with Sydney and Bob Redford one night. We talked movie making, and finding scripts & projects (which is what I did.) #outofafrica
unlabelledView post →For those of us who grew up in the 1970s and '80s, Redford defined the idea of movie star in classics like "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Sting" and "Out of Africa." And no surprise, "All the President's Men" remains to this day my favorite movie of all time.

unlabelledView post →RIP Robert Redford. I remember seeing Out of Africa in the movie theater and there were loud gasps and audible swoons — my mother being one — when Robert Redford washed Meryl Streep’s hair at the river…
unlabelledView post →The public library around the corner still rents out DVDs. Decided to fill a few gaps in my movie culture; currently watching Out of Africa, and I have La reine Margot ready.

He composed the scores for 11 of the Bond films between 1963 and 1987 as well as arranging & performing the James Bond Theme for the 1st film in the series, Dr. No. He also wrote the scores to the films Dances with Wolves & Out of Africa. #JohnBarry

unlabelledView post →Mike's The Mandalorian And Grogu Review: Not the best Star Wars movie. Damn sure not the worst. Could have been 4 or 5 episodes of a season 4. A pleasant diversion, worth the $14 I paid to see it in IMAX. Not all movies have to be Out of Africa or Remains of the Day. Nobody watches Star Wars for
unlabelledView post →Sinners. Doesn’t matter who wins what. It never does, long term. Not for footprint. e.g. which film do ppl teach or reference/quote more, make costumes of, make fancams/edits of, include in GOAT lists more, mention as actors’ best roles: Malcolm X or Unforgiven? The Color Purple or Out of Africa?

unlabelledView post →The old movie I put on tonight is “Out of Africa” and the chemistry between Meryl Streep and Robert Redford is just unbelievable
unlabelledView post →Out of Africa was a life changing movie for me. as a young man Redford’s character was a fictional role model as a strong ethical man that doesn’t need to impress people.
unlabelledView post →Hypothesis: replace any actor in any movie with Pete Davidson and it improves the movie. Gone with the Wind: Pete Davidson instead of Clark Gable. Out of Africa: Pete Davidson instead of Meryl Streep. Star Wars: Pete Davidson instead of Harrison Ford. Moonstruck: Pete Davidson instead of Nic Cage.
unlabelledView post →OUT OF AFRICA is close to being the dullest film ever made (Sydney Pollack’s follow up HAVANA is even duller, which is a neat trick—I like most of his other films, for the record).
unlabelledView post →The theme from "Out of Africa" has got to be in the top 5 most beautiful movie themes of all time. It makes my heart soar. So so beautiful. It makes me want to watch that wonderful movie again.
unlabelledView post →John Barry (1933-2011) had a distinctive compositional style that ran through much of his film music, including his Oscar-winning score for OUT OF AFRICA (1985). In this scene, the sweeping, romantic strings that were his signature were never more compelling: 7/ #filmsky #moviesky #musicsky

unlabelledView post →Godspeed, Mr. Weir. What an incredible, astonishing, and *eclectic* filmography. His 1985 film Witness will always be a personal favorite. I still maintain that THAT should have won Best Picture instead of Out of Africa. Top-shelf filmmaker. Here's to retired life treating him well.
unlabelledView post →Out of Africa is great because it initially looks like a grand romantic epic, but underneath it's a much sadder film about the impossibility of possessing the things we love. #TCMParty #OutOfAfrica
unlabelledView post →I have come up with a new working method. One piece of work done equals one classic Robert Redford film that I am allowed to watch. So far have watched The Way We Were, Three Days of the Condor, The Natural, and Out of Africa (tbh that one I had seen several times, esp. the hair washing scene).
unlabelledView post →Continuing #CDFriday with these 1980s releases. A buck each! This John Barry Out of Africa soundtrack is fantastic. I was aware of the movie as a kid but have never seen it. Reminds me of the Sirens soundtrack, taking the listener to the movie locale and time.
unlabelledView post →My personal pick for favorite Meryl Streep movie as this was the first one I saw of her. Shortly after, I saw the intense Sophie's Choice, Out of Africa, Kramer vs. Kramer, Postcards from the Edge, and the Deer Hunter.
unlabelledView post →Robert Redford was in the majority of my favorite movies or Directed my favorite movies. The way we were. Watched it probably 100 times. Out of Africa the most beautiful Cinematic movie ever. The Sting, what a smart movie. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Redford and Newman were perfection.

unlabelledView post →Been trying to find movies to watch, and it just seems like no one makes sweeping, epic movies anymore (i.e. Dances with Wolves, Titantic, Out of Africa, Ghandi, Selma, etc.) The movie business seems almost as bad as the news business right now.

unlabelledView post →I saw this photo and thought two things: - She’s going to have play Diana Vreeland at some point. - These two would be perfect casting for a sort of “Out of Africa II: Way Out of Africa,” in which the elderly Baroness Blixen comes to the US in the company of her secretary/minder Clara Svendsen.
unlabelledView post →I saw Out of Africa in theaters. I was 8 when it came out, so I had a lot of questions. By the time Clan of the Cave Bear came out, it was 1986, and i was 9. I saw that one in a movie theater too, with my mom.
