And movie homages! Cheap, amateurish, but also darkly amusing. Relatively authentic portrait of L.A. subculture. #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →It isn't the best or the best-remembered Hitchcock film, but I have an enduring love for Notorious. It's such a strange relic of a transitional moment in film history.
unlabelledView post →That one will be a first but MARNIE we've seen a few times. NOTORIOUS is usually my answer for favorite Hitchcock movie but I think it might be this, a character study that uses the thriller technique and Bernard Herrmann music for suspense about whether someone will have a personal breakthrough

unlabelledView post →Oh, man, you can't go wrong with any of those choices. All among my top 5 or 6 Hitchcocks. I've long ranked North by Northwest as my 5th favorite film of all time, but Rear Window and Notorious are right up there.
unlabelledView post →Same director and this film ties with Rear Window and Notorious for my fave of his. Great selection.
unlabelledView post →SHADOW OF A DOUBT is my favorite Hitchcock film. But DIAL M FOR MURDER is my fave in terms of style/color. I've lost count how many times I repeat REAR WINDOW and I didn't realize til a few years ago how often I reach for NOTORIOUS year-round. In short, you can never go wrong with a Hitchcock film.

unlabelledView post →Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant just ooze charisma in this classic Hitchcock story of espionage and romance. She ("Alicia") has taken to the bottle following the conviction of her Nazi father and is heading down the slippery slope when she is approached by "Devlin" (Grant) who offers her a chance to redeem herself. She is to ingratiate herself with a group of her father's cohorts in Rio and feed back her intelligence to the CIA. Once in Rio, she is reunited with her arch-Nazi admirer "Alexander"…
