Revisiting this just confirms that nothing else in the industry dares to be this conceptually ambitious. Pure art.

I like NieR:Automata, but this game has some lazier parts to its design that it tends to masquerade as strong storytelling/mechanics and I'm sorry but I'm just not buying it in many cases. If you just want to read a review glazing this game go and read one of the many other positive reviews on here, I am going to give my honest opinion. The open world is so well setup, but it is incredibly empty, many will say this is an aspect of the story since it's supposed to "feel" empty because of the…

After 100 hours and completing everything (Perfect), NieR:Automata proves it’s more than just an action game. It’s a story about meaning, repetition, and choice—told through gameplay, music, and the decisions you make. At first, you might think it’s just androids fighting machines, but gradually, you realize the game is asking you about identity, purpose, repetition, and free will. The brilliance lies in the fact that the story isn’t told only through cutscenes. It’s conveyed through…

I often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle... and wonder if we'll ever get the chance to kill him." so i'll be a little brief or i'll try to be, this game has an impact beyond being a simple video game, i think it has an impressive discovery about what you are or what you can be or what you can't be, there came…

Thought was a gooner game with good gameplay, found out that it is a gooner game with good gameplay, but also a game that asks some of the most profound questions about existence and life. All in all, ended up crying and having an existential crises, after gooning ofc. Definitely recommend. Menu navigation and keyboard mouse controls could had been better tho. 9/10

NieR: Automata isn’t just a game — it’s an experience. Everything about it — the story, the characters, the music, the world — is simply incredible. The soundtrack is among the best I’ve ever heard in any game. Every track is memorable and perfectly matches the mood of each area and scene, making the world feel alive and emotional. The characters are brilliantly written, and you can truly see their development throughout the story. Each of them has depth, purpose, and emotion that make you…

NieR: Automata leaves scars. It is a rare masterpiece that uses video game mechanics to break your heart, only to piece it back together through its music. As the final chords of 'Weight of the World' fade out, you realize: it was painful, it was devastating, but it was absolutely beautiful...

Before starting the playthrough of this game, I expected nothing. Never played any Nier game, knew nothing about it except for who 2B is. First, wanted to drop the game after ending A because surely they wouldn't roll the credits and mislead me into thinking the game is over. Decided to keep playing anfter seeing the square enix message because I enjoyed the experience, and oh my god, it was worth it. I feel like most of the reviewers don't give the game it's actual credit. I think this is…

The characters, in the story are very memorable. The multiple endings are a part of the story of the game they are not just something extra. The story and the multiple endings of the game are well done. The gameplay is fast. It has stylish combat. It also has some RPG elements that're not too complicated. The soundtrack is…

A life affirming speech on what it means to live disguising itself as a videogame. Every plot twist, every piece of the soundtrack, the gameplay that once you grasp, flows so satisfyingly had me unable to put the game down. “We’re trapped in a never-ending spiral of life and death” If a being can feel pain, fear, or loneliness, does it matter if it’s artificial ? is having a purpose enough to justify endless suffering ? can someone truly live if their entire existence is predetermined ? Sounds simple enough — until the game slowly dismantles every assumption you have about good…

I love how ridiculous NieR:Automata can be. The entire game is this expertly executed balance between the absurd and the macabre, and that truly is its secret sauce. Other games have silly sidequests in otherwise serious plots, but Automata does it with an intention few others can. #NieRAutomata

NieR:Automata is one of the greatest games ever made, if not the greatest Playing NieR only once is like hearing a joke all the way up to the punchline, but not the punchline itself. I knew it was important to play the game a few times to get the full experience, but I cannot stress this enough: you absolutely MUST play the game multiple times to even experience what it's trying to do. The first playthrough is just the setup. Other games are basically begging you to play them again, but…

Despite what the Steam Community Content page would lead you to believe, this is not a porn game. The bossfights, music, and story are exceptional, and I actually liked the "hacking" sections, although I seem to be in the minority. The only thing that holds this game back are the grindy repetitive parts, and sometimes weird story pacing.

So, I've had this game in my library for years, and I've occasionally come across favorable comments about its storyline, the director's glazing, or popular cosplays and art of 2B. So I finally decided to play it. Why not, right? TL;DR The game is very average, with many aspects done on 20%, but it touches on a pretty cool niche topic and has its moments, although there is a noticeable drop in writing quality between the beginning/middle and the end of the game. NieR: Automata is, in my opinion, one of the greatest video games ever made. It is far more than an action RPG—it is a deeply emotional exploration of identity, purpose, grief, and what it truly means to be alive. The game's true ending (Ending E) is one of the most powerful finales in gaming history. It delivers a message that even in a world trapped in endless cycles of violence and despair, hope can still exist. No matter how many times we fail or suffer, we can choose to stand up again,…

nearly ten years later and nier automata still holds up as one of the greatest games i've ever had the pleasure of playing. the combat is easy to learn, but hard to master. the music is stunningly produced and amplifies the experience with progressive tracks that ebb and flow based on what you're doing the game (along with 8-bit renditions for 9S' hacking games). the graphics, while not the best of what 2017 had to offer, hold up well in my opinion and look beautiful as all hell. the voice…

It´s a cool game, but sometimes you end up fighting the camera instead fighting the Bosses. Come on, let me be in charge of my own game. It does not matter because I end up shooting everything anyway because fighting close can get you killed. The game is not bad, and it´s kind of frightening how without humanity, there´s lush green and grass everywhere. The graphics and soundtracks are also astonishing.

Yoko Taro and Platinumgames are one of those gaming marriages that are almost 'too good to be true' to ever happen; yet somehow we miraculously did see it happen. And the results speak for themselves, a game that marries flashy, satisfying action alongside deep themes, complex characters and a fascinating world to explore, accompanied by an excellent musical score. I wont even lie, I really was brought to tears. I really feel that nothing else has been able to really portray the idea of finding purpose, or reason, quite like this game. To be honest, I don't think I've ever felt more moved by a game's narrative before, which is why I felt like writing an actual review for this one. I loved every second of it. Soundtrack is amazing too.
