48 of 48 · most liked firstTarget Audience: New Fans to Shmups or desperate Shmup Veterans Summary: Neko Navy is sort of an oddity in the SHMUP genre, and yet is what you'd expect of the genre on any given day. That's the weird thing right off the bat: you've played games like Neko Navy before, but the slight twists that it puts on the game at times are interesting when it decides to showcase them. It's a solid game with good difficulty options and reasonable controls. Its problem is simple: it lacks a KO punch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A shocking documentary window into the secret lives of cats...or a silly, well-done Japanese homebrew side-scrolling shooter, take your pick. On a basic level, aside from moving around all you've got to worry about are "shoot" and "bomb" buttons; from there it's all about making sure your salvos land and theirs don't. After selecting one of three available kitties with varying movement speeds and weapons (plus a couple more to unlock), you're off on a brisk seven-stage journey to rack up as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played it ahead of time, I think this is worth a play if you like any kind of Shmup games. +Cute cats and cat related characters +Decent soundtrack that goes with the look of the game +Simple to learn and navigate, but still enough of a challenge to last you a few hours until you pick up in it. +-Unity. Many people hate the engine but in this instance it isn't badly -Short play. Around twelve hours length to get all achievement for the average player. Half an hour per play -Can be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Silly, adorable and fun ~ Choose from 3 different kitties to shoot up the baddies! All hand drawn and very charming art style~ Also has different difficulty levels, so you can chill with your kitty, or go into HELL! Surprisingly fun lil cute-em-up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction Neko Navy is a hand drawn horizontal shmup by DeathMofuMofu featuring shooting cats. I was a bit reserved because of the amount of bullets on screen in the gameplay I saw. I'm decent at regular shmups but not as good at bullet hell shmups. However a Steam friend liked it, it was on sale and I love cats so I bought it. Gameplay When you start out you can choose between 3 cat characters with different weapons. You get a primary fire and a bomb. When activating a bomb you're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the free demo I found online a few months back, put a loooot of hours into that. Creator is great, replied back when I asked if it was coming to the west on twitter and here we are. Great game, fun, with good art.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neko Navy is one of the best cute em up games I've played. You pick between 3 cute cats, each with their own play style. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, so it gives the player incentive to try out each character to pick the one that fits the best. Gameplay is horizontally scrolling, and each level is filled with new enemies and hazards to keep you on your feet. Neko Navy's hand drawn graphics are one of it's strongest charms. Every graphic on the screen is just bursting with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute and short shoot'em'up. Takes low-average skill to finish. Finishing game once takes ~20-30 minutes. Has some alternative routes and several (6) characters with different shooting patterns and bombs. Has 3 difficulties and 12 bosses. Difficulties mostly increase amount of enemy projectiles. Last but not least - has nice and cute art, good music, and overall light atmosphere. Good game is you're new to the genre and don't want to spend hours and hours learning every nook and cranny of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's actually one of the better shmups I've played, but can you please bring [Daydream Edition], the new-and-improved updated version, to Steam?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple yet incredibly fun shmup for any skill level. Encourages aggressive use of your Bombs as you constantly get energy for them similar to Battle Garegga, and bombs are a BIG scoring mechanic. Also, cats.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Designed for a wide range of players, from beginners to veterans. - The game lets you use lots of bombs, so there are loads of explosions on the screen - excellent. You can use bombs to escape sticky situations or to aim for a higher score - your choice! - Cute stages and characters - nice to look at as you play Pretty much echoing all the other reviews here, but anyway, this is a great title if you want to get started in the shooting game genre (also great if you are a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a surprising amount of depth to this kitty cute 'em up. I tend to zero in on survival in shmups but the scoring mechanics are super addicting and I found myself restarting again and again trying to squeeze out as many points as I could. Neko Navy rules and I bet you'll find an engaging challenge that's right for you in here regardless of skill level. P.S. Just chill on the menu and listen to the music for a little bit. Great track.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Silly shoot em up bullet hell with flying cats shooting aggressive stuff that shoots at you. Different levels, enemies and even some bosses, different characters to play and unlock, and just fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is kitties and lasers. Need I say more?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 - A cute shmup of flying cats. Well put together and a nice challenge. For those new to the genre it will be quite the challenge to complete as initially you get no continues. Dying more essentially unlocks more continues. So I can only really recommend to fans already of shmups, others just may find the game frustrating from about day 3 onwards. Unfortunately for those that like a little plot with their shmup, there is none here. There is not even a basic bit of text giving an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neko Navy is a compact horizontal shoot 'em up that takes the familiar intensity of arcade shooters and gives it an unusually cheerful personality. Instead of piloting futuristic spacecraft or military aircraft, players control flying cats as they blast their way through increasingly strange waves of enemies. Developed by DeathMofuMofu and published by Fruitbat Factory, the game does not rely entirely on its amusing concept. Beneath the cats, colorful visuals, and surreal humor is a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adorable, fun and challenging at the same. Perfect for a quick round of pew pews!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool and chill cat themed shmup. Not very hard to clear. Took me a 2 days to beat on one credit the hardest mode with the hardest route. You can get a lot of extra lives if you get into scoring, which is not complex. You can milk a lot of points with bosses by intentionally losing a life an getting back a bomb instantly. Good times overall. Will get back to it from time to time for the chill vibes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very good bullet hell shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I admit the game is a little pricey at 11$ at full price, the visuals are a bit bland, but this is a fairly charming SHMUP that's decent to play. If you're at all hesitant at that price, it's definitely worth it at 30-50% off, this is a solid 7/10. The game is unreasonably hard on the later difficulties, if you go for 100% achievements, you'll probably be way too frustrated to grind your way through them. This isn't a terrible game, but definitely grab it on sale for the highest chance of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super Cute and Super Fun shmup!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and brainless horizontal classic shmup disguised as a bullet hell that that surprisingly should´t work so well. There are lots of bullets and they are also slow but the patterns are basic and their trajectory(not speed) is more close to a classic shmup. you have a button for shot and other to bomb and that´s it.Bomb replenish from time to time when you collect itens Boss battles are cool and creative. There is not a focus button and therefore the control may be a bit loose for some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An adorable shmup all about cats. It has simplistic artstyle and gameplay, but I enjoy it a lot and its easy to get into.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, silly and charming Scoring is incredibly satisfying and the game gives you good versatility in wich type of cat (ship) you want to play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Silly goofy cat arcade game. Still more to explore and beat but goofy so far, I love it. BTW, I like cats!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple scrolling shooter, not too hard but fairly punishing. You start with 0 Continues, and you'll get more if you do well enough across each difficulty. You have to charge up your Bombs and they're you're main way of boosting your points to get extra lives. It's fairly satisfying and rewards you for sticking with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who struggles hitting the bomb button in other shmups, this game makes it fun! Cute and silly designs aplenty, it's a shmup I think that anyone of any skill level could find some fun in it. Pretty good soundtrack too, with some heavy hitters here and there too. Definitely a shmup I find myself playing as a "fun wind-down game" from time to time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly Relaxing, charming and cute, whilst actually also being a remarkably great shmup in it's own right. It will never fail to put a smile on my face.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most wholesome and cute game to ever feature x-ray scans of cat skulls, an industrial slaughterhouse, and celebrity drug addiction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the greatest game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute theme and also fun to play. Only seven stage, which felt short for this price and I wish this could be longer. I like the options for various cats and bullet designs, but the last catfish is a little questionable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent little horizontal cute-em-up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: This game is pretty good, and cute. Worth 12 bucks? Maybe. I'd buy it during a sale though; it has one quite often. I've not really played many shoot-em-ups, but Neko Navy might've just gotten me into the genre. Cute graphics, characters (almost) all look super cute, and the enemies are either look cute, or ridiculous (in a good way). Not the highest resolution but not bad still. Amazing music. Great learning curve, I'm pretty sure Death mode is difficult even to veterans, but still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neko Navy is a highly whimsical shooter featuring adorable hand-drawn sprites in a series of increasingly bizarre levels. Also, the soundtrack's great. With no unlock system, there's not a lot of replay value, but there is definitely PLAY value. The only thing it really needs is a manual of some kind.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an adorable shmup with genuinely entertaining scoring mechanics
