Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire
Ninjas with bloodline limits begin disappearing in all the countries and blame points toward the fire nation. By Tsunade's order, Kakashi is sacrificed to prevent an all out war. After inheriting charms left by Kakashi, Naruto fights through friends and foes to prevent his death while changing the minds of those who've inherited the will of fire. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →I've never watched Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower before, so I didn't noticed until just now that it was directed by Murata Masahiko, just like the previous film was. I remember that previous film being really good looking, so I wonder h ow The Lost Tower looked?

unlabelledView post →187. Naruto Shippuden the Movie - The Lost Tower (anime): the first Shippuden move that’s actually passable imo, there’s lots of rough bits, but feels like the first one to commit to some proper kind of storytelling and world-building with a smaller cast and tighter plotting (generally). 5/10

unlabelledView post →188. Naruto Shippuden the Movie - Blood Prison (anime): detested it. The worst case of the Shippuden films’ passive storytelling biting it in the ass, so tenuously conceived and convoluted in the long term all while being defeatist, cynical and mean-spirited. Konoha becomes cops. Yuck. 2/10
unlabelledView post →185. Naruto Shippuden the Movie - The Will of Fire (anime): this could’ve been a half hour to 45 minute OVA easily. Threadbare story about some guy trying to become the ULTIMATE NINJA and Naruto chasing a scapegoat Kakashi while everyone deliberates on The Will of Fire and recalls shit. Hollow. 3/10
unlabelledView post →184. Naruto Shippuden the Movie - Bonds (anime): still misshapen, somewhat contrived and doesn’t really bring its disparate threads together, arbitrarily extends itself for half an hour from the presumed final standoff to shoehorn Sasuke in properly, with more magic mumbjumbo. Crummy. 3/10
unlabelledView post →183. Naruto Shippuden the Movie (anime): Worst I’ve seen so far meanwhile. Pacing is a mess and everything awkwardly arranged, animation and fights aren’t even very good, tonally loud with Naruto at his most obnoxious, unnecessary cameos, dumb last minute lore dump and anticlimax. Dreck. 2/10
