I decided to buy this product on a whim earlier and after booting it up I decided to play through it all in one go. This game is a great mix of mystery ambiance, reminiscent of a 90s point and click game, and more modern, though subdued, platformer mechanics. The music and visuals are great too. The core mechanic of the game, collecting evidence, is pretty strong and the puzzles are engaging but not too hard. The storyline is pretty interesting and the pace at which you discover new information…

Nice short detective story, recommended for mystery and suspense fans. The sound design is quite good and the graphics are weirdly charming. The enemies don't pose much of a threat and the bear traps could be removed from the game, but the atmosphere and story manages to keep things a little tense. The story unveils nicely, there is no big climax although it does conclude nicely. Glad I bought this gem. Runs great through Proton.

A dark adventure game. Good story. It's short (2+hr) but I liked it. Well worth the six-dollar asking price. Nice pixel graphic animation, ambient music soundtrack, and light dexterity and puzzle challenges. It plays well on the Steam Deck. The "build-a-newspaper-story" game mechanic was super fun and original. I played this on an ubuntu desktop with a keyboard controller.

It is criminal that this game is only 2 hours long. Not because I feel cheated, but because it was so good I wanted it to never end. With any luck the developer will release a part 2. If you're in the mood for a legitimately creepy, eerie side scroller mystery game, PLAY THIS.

Very charming game. I enjoyed the journalist aspect of writing articles to increase your credibility. Soundtrack is great, story is interesting, and the game isn't too challenging. Well maybe except for those damn bear traps! I look forward to more games by this dev in the future!

See, Steam? *This* is the kind of stuff I want to see more of in my Discovery Queue - not whatever Madden game happens to be out this year! Mythargia is a simple adventure game with some puzzle-platforming elements where you explore an abandoned island that some unnamed catastrophe hit at the local sanitarium. It's a modest game but has pretty gorgeous art, especially in the facial portraits. There are a number of small issues that likely speak to it being the developer's very first game,…

Well, when it comes to monitor support, this game is really bad: I have a 21:9 monitor, and the game doesn't let me select a resolution; it immediately switches to ultra-wide mode, regardless of whether I select “Window,” “Full Screen,” or “Full Screen Window” – the resolution field is always empty. This is particularly annoying because text fields are then cut off at the bottom, making the bottom line of text unreadable. This even applies to the main screen: I wondered how to exit the game…

Why is the hit detection so bad? I can't skillfully run away from exploding enemies all the time. Trying to exit the game is pretty buggy with a controller which I don't know why.

If you never played a game puzzles where you'll have to write down on paper or other forms notes about the puzzles and trying to figure out solutions, then you're been missing out. The genre is definitely not at its best and I do wish we received better and more complex triple-A games like Myst or We Were Here but sadly difficulty and hard thinking in games is getting rarer by day Part of the game is a typical old adventure-style game, part is like a visual novel, and part is like a textual…

This is a tough one. I’m 100 minutes in and that’s about all I can take. The game functions and runs well on Steamdeck. It’s nice enough graphically and doesn’t appear to be buggy or anything like that, but I just feel like it’s simply a time killer. I get that it is a narrative adventure, but I don’t understand why I’m playing it or what it is offering me as a player. Am I even playing it? I honestly feel like I’m just walking left and right, occasionally pressing a button when an icon…

This game hooked me almost instantly. The artwork is incredible, the atmosphere and mystery are spooky and engaging. The puzzles are pretty good. BUT, some criticism: The action isn't great. The way in which the enemies damage you, the speed at which the flashlight works, the ease at which you can miss photos and journal entries, the platforming... all pretty frustrating. The game could have definitely explained the mechanics of choosing photos for the article a LOT better. The ending was…

OK, while I'm marking this review as positive there are some big caveats to it. I'm noting these more for the hope of them improving on these in later games because RunByCoffee is an absolutely tiny developer and thus deserves some slack on their first Steam-released game. Plus the game be cheap. There is quite a few grammatical errors and the pixel text can be a bit hard to read at times BUT since they're in Finland I'm presuming they're not native English speakers. I think at two points I…

I highly recommend this game. I love the graphics and the story line is really easy to get absorbed into. It has a creepy atmosphere and it's paced well. I didn't feel bored at all during my play through. The story just gets more interesting as you find out more information. It has puzzles that aren't too difficult to figure out which is nice because you don't stray too far from the story. Mythargia is a side-scrolling mystery adventure developed by RunByCoffee and published by Bonus Stage Publishing that blends psychological tension, exploration, puzzle-solving, and investigative storytelling into an atmospheric experience built around discovery and uncertainty. The pixel art is well done but the story not so much. Gameplay was so-so too. Ennemies felt like they were added to just pad the content. There are some achievements glitch too if you care for that. Overall while it was not disastrous, I think it was pretty weak.

Charming little game (I finished it in roughly 2.5h) with a fair bit of exploration and a pleasantly creepy vibe. Fairly simple gameplay, nice environments. At the time of playing (early March 2023)- my one gripe with the game was that there were some spelling/grammar issues in the text that needed to be ironed out, but that (imo) didn't have a negative impact on the experience as a whole.

An unsettling atmosphere, intriguing story and gorgeous art design makes it a worthy purchase. Mythargia looks and plays as if it was meant for the Steam Deck.

Mythargia is a 2D side scrolling retro adventure with emphasis on discovering the island’s story. In this short story line adventure game, you will play as journalist who will travel to Mysterious Island. You can explore many locations, write journal entries and take photos of your journey. For 6$ the game length is around 1-4h depends on your exploration plus you will solve lots of puzzle which is not too difficult. The atmosphere is a bit dark for my eye sight especially when it come to spot…

Mythargia is a nice dark tale, with some nice dark visuals, and a nice dark atmosphere. It rarely ever becomes more than ‘nice,’ though. A bit too linear, a bit too easy, and a bit unwilling to let the player do more than just walk around and read notes, it all falls to the story to carry the experience, and while it’s definitely a good story, you can generally find better. Try it out if in need of a casual-friendly and slightly horror-flavoured, narrative driven adventure, but avoid if you…

A mysterious story draws you into this adventure game with light platforming and enemies you can bother with your flashlight. Just like you will be bothered by unreadable font. You assume the role of a journalist who travels to a desolate village in pursuit of a scoop. Nobody has ever set foot there for a long time. Structures are nearly destroyed and there are human remains left on the spot where they died voluntarily or involuntary. Although the game’s gameplay suggests a platformer, it’s…

I was suckered into Mythargia by the glorious pixel art in the screenshots. Glad I did - it's engaging right from the first minute and, although it's a short game, there's no filler. Interactive story with adventure game elements and the odd puzzle, check it out. Mythargia brings to the table an interesting story premise, incredible atmosphere and some charming retro 2d pixel artstyle. However these are not enough to make it stand out. Subpar story presentation and interesting but underutilized mechanics bring down the experience to an average level. Despite this the is still enough here to enjoy. here is my non-spoiler review https://youtu.be/aQZJYAaCSxg

It's a neat, engaging story with a 90's Point'N'Click or SNES Action/Adventure aesthetic. The gameplay is however lacking, with the mechanics and core gameplay feeling tacked on and unecessary. The idea is fairly good, and the idea that you're able to edit your "article" during the gameplay feels sort of reminiscent to Crime & Punishment by Frogware, but sadly, it's made completely reduntant by not having anything really matter. The dialogue is also somewhat awkward, having (in my mind)…

The game is 2d pixelart (not hard) puzzle game with few platforming and combat elements. ~2h of gameplay with somewhat interesting story, its mostly looking for items to progress wile you take notes and pictures for your story report article. There is more endings to game. It's solid and fairly cheap shot game to enjoy.

The moment you reach Mythargia’s shores, you’re pulled into a weird world where nothing is what it seems. You may think you’re going to uncover a conspiracy, but instead you’ll stumble upon something even stranger. The gameplay might be a bit jarring at first for players not used to actions like jumping over obstacles and vanquishing enemies, but rest assured the learning curve is very slight. It would’ve been nice to make the actual writing of your newspaper article a bit more interactive,…

I was both compelled and disturbed. *Cool spooky locations and Gothic vibe with a mild Silent Hill and Stranger Things flavor. *I liked that it was casual and linear with very little space to screw it all up. I got a key from one of the devs, a friend of mine, so I might be a bit biased. I started it 11pm and it was gripping enough that I played it through in one sitting. Had a little trouble with the font of the text ingame, but I think there is alt text stuff implemented now. A nice little mystery game. Controls fairly simple and gameplay easy, main focus is the story. Got a very light Amnesia and Curse of the Monkey Island vibes heh.Nice way to spend few hours.
