Nicholas Rowe played the movie version of Holmes. we became great friends. He later starred in our short horror thriller Stay Alert.

unlabelledView post →I'm not really into wholesome movies, but last night I watched the movie "Mr Holmes" it was very well acted and directed, Sir Ian McKellens portrayal of an aging Sherlock Holmes in the throes of dementia was wonderful.
unlabelledView post →Completed with Mr. Holmes (2015), a slow, melancholy film about an elderly and retired Sherlock Holmes trying to stave off dementia in order to write the truth about his final case, all while a young fan encourages him to pick up the profession again. It's surprisingly good, with great acting.

unlabelledView post →It's an odd view, not least because the five Craig movies stand as their own little continuity in any case. It's like "In MR. HOLMES (2015), Holmes is retired and Watson is long dead, therefore we cannot do a film with a younger Holmes and Watson EVER AGAIN." Mate, trust me, you really can.

unlabelledView post →there's a really good fun 80s Young Sherlock Holmes movie. It makes no sense for him to know Watson at school but still a fun film. Also the kid who plays him, appears in Ian McKellen's Mr. Holmes as a middle aged Holmes.
unlabelledView post →I rarely go to the cinema and when I do it is to see a film I want not a social event. Such a curmudgeon am I , maybe Mr Holmes would have a similar view.

unlabelledView post →Movie 73/2024: Mr Holmes (Condon, 2015). I’m always in for Holmes interpretations, but this was hopelessly muddled. Ian McKellen can’t save it (also: he’s a lot of things, but Holmes he is not!). ⭐️

unlabelledView post →Maybe a bit cheesy, but I really liked this dialogue from a movie called Mr Holmes: It's us, on this side, who are, all of us so... Alone? I have been alone... all my life. But with the compensations of the intellect. - And is that enough? - It can be. 1/2

unlabelledView post →I try to watch all the Sherlock movies and TV shows. I've yet to read a Holmes book. I think that may be next. A really good movie was "Mr. Holmes", starring Ian McKellan. I highly recommend it.

unlabelledView post →I tapped out at after series 2 and even then it was abundantly clear they weren't very interested in having Holmes be involved in detective work or solve any cases really. I do like the film Mr Holmes that also plays with the formula but that works because it's the Holmes we know in old age.

It's the story of Sherlock Holmes, set in 1947 when the great detective is 93 and slowly losing his famously sharp wits while also connecting with the young son of his mistrusting housekeeper. Directed by an Oscar winning filmmaker, the film was based on the novel 'A Slight Trick of the Mind'. It focused the long retired Sherlock Holmes, who now lives in the English countryside where he meets a boy. He tries to recall one of his old cases, but struggles as he's very old to remember.
