This game is downright insulting to metoidvania players. The damage you take is insane. I know people are going to just say, "Bu...bu...bu...it is Dark Souls like, so that makes it ok". No, it doesn't. Not everyone wants a Dark Soulavaina game. But lets put this into game numbers: When you start the game, you will be on level 5 (I believe), and you will have a max hp…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Minoria is an interesting game, but I think I'd struggle to call it a good one. Fundamentally it controls well, it looks fine, the music is nice and I am a sucker for metroidvanias. But... it is an incredibly shallow game on everything it touches. The level design makes the(sometimes mandatory) backtracking painful, there is no fast travel. There is one weapon and you'll learn to like it, yes, you pick up other weapons, yes, they function the exact same way with the exact same stats…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got Minoria because someone on Reddit said that this was a 'slept on Metroidvania'. Although I now disagree with that statement, it's still a relatively fun short Metroidvania that was relatively simple to 100% complete. I'm going to use it to get my family further into Metroidvanias with the goal of getting them to complete the Hollow Knight games. Overall, it's fun, a bit of a slow start, but once you get all the movement abilities you feel more free. It is funny to find out that cat…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →been a hot minute since we played a metroidvania and it's only been a few days since our anniversary, so i'm still feeling nostalgic. going live with a little known game called "Minoria"! It has nuns. Its themes may also be... dark souls-lite. twitch.tv/lulztime #vtuber #eldenwood #vtuberuprising
unlabelledView post →It was fine. Decent gameplay, decent graphics, decent but unremarkable story... but the overall game design never really clicked for me. There's no fast travel, and oftentimes the exploration rewards are just exp flowers, but with enemies you can grind all around you they feel really pointless. The difficulty is generally on the easier side but occasionally there are little pockets of annoying enemies that are probably meant to be challenging but are more frustrating than anything like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Minoria is a mediocre game. That left me feeling exhausted and annoyed. The combat and movement feel all right once you get to late game allowing the player to express a certain level of skill in boss fights. That is where the positive end. My first and biggest gripe is that this is labeled as a Metroidvania. This game is extremely linear and once you enter a new area you are never required to go backwards. The game may consider unlocking shortcuts back to previous areas as back tracking and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's functioning. That's the best I can say about it. for 20 EUR is overpriced as hell. Story The story is trash, both endings feel like bad endings and they're both trash and lazily written. My 10 YO can think up a better story than this. Yuck. Movement - it's not fluid, let me tell you that. Your characters moves slowly and there is no option to run but if you spam dodge-roll you move twice as fast thus you're incentivised to roll all the time which looks ridiculous and no fun at all. -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aggressively mediocre. Two-shot by every enemy in the game, from the very beginning to the very end. Lost count how many times I still took damage when parrying an enemy attack.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll preface this with some honesty: this is less of a review and more of an expression of my complicated thoughts and feelings regarding a game I played when I was a different person (wow, so profound). If you want the shortest version: Minoria is mechanically competent, artistically impressive, and narratively underwhelming. The combat is a bit more engaging than Momodora, the exploration is about the same, and the story is just hopelessly bleak. I would recommend Reverie Under the Moonlight…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is at best a 6/10. I had maybe fun with this game for 2-3h, for a 5h long game. Very low to mid tier game - it is too often just boring and annoying. - Combat is usually just attack smashing, with rare dodge/parry in between. - Combat against bosses is the worst part. There are two pattern. Either: Attack smash from behind the boss and dodge behind the boss if they turn around. Or: Attack smash from the back and switch to parry smash for some of their attacks. And they have huge health…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow this game felt quite boring compare to the others from the same developer. The level design is un-inspiring, and both enemies and bosses are pretty basic. Maybe because I had a high bar after playing the Momodora Games, but this one is lacking in something. I mostly blame it in level design and lack luster abilities. The game itself is super linear, and any sense of exploration is just block with doors with keys you find out of nowhere, and because all doors look the same you have no…

unlabelledView post →General Rating: 3.5 out of 5. I recommend the game, but with caveats. Even though it differs from the visual style of the Momodora series, I found the game itself to be very beautiful and captivated me from the beginning, but I soon realized how repetitive and boring it was becoming. The enemy variety is very small, the patterns and difficulty are ridiculously easy to learn, and there is no real challenge from the beginning to the end of the game. Practically 99% of incense is expendable…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Minoria, a side-scrolling, action-adventure platformer. The game itself is very fun, the artwork is amazing and the story is really good too. The combat mechanics are easy to learn, fun to play with and the bonuses you can find by doing certain things or finding certain areas can be rewarding. This game rewards you generously for exploring the map in it's entirety. The artwork, as I said, is very good. Each scene is beautiful and each area has its own theme and soundtrack, they all tie in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has too many negatives to recommend. Short, not much enemy variation, lackluster story and ludicrously unbalanced. There are better metroidvania's out there, so I wouldn't bother with this one unless you got it on sale or in a really good bundle (like I did).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I cannot recommend this game, because the gameplay is boring, frustrating, unpolished and simplistic. 5/10 definitely not worth 20USD, I wish more people had been honest about the issues with this game in their "positive" reviews because I got this as a gift and I feel bad. TL/DR broken parry, 1-2 hit kills, boring combat, zero backtracking, bad UI/map, charms are useless, leveling up is trivial, 80% items are unhelpful, no support for multiple saves, no fast travel until you beat the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had some fun at times but would I recommend this game to someone? mmmmm I don't know... It feels like one of those weird Kickstarter games where someone promised tons of stuff you usually see in successful games but no one knows how to make it work and the final result ends up so... bland? The story is a waste of time, the combat is wonky, enemy designs are really uninteresting (including bosses), there are tons of items but most of them are pretty much pointless and the endgame is just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I attempted to play through this game twice, and bounced off after a few hours both times. It disappointed me. I quite enjoyed the other games by these developers. My main issues with this game is the lack of a map and the feel of combat. Contact damage does not belong in this game, the enemy hitboxes are unclear and often they advance during their attack strings. Landing a parry can get you hit from their body touching you alone. Despite my complaints, it is quite good for a short and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it, though not as much as I did Reverie Under the Moonlight. I felt that game did most things better. Price might be a pretty steep ask for a six hour game, so maybe get it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Agreeing with other mildly-negative reviewers, it's not actively *bad*, but it's uninteresting enough that I'm uninstalling it after 40 minutes, which feels like I gave it a chance and it didn't take it. The slow walking speed is perhaps what really did it in for me. That and the too-big graphics so even with slow walking speed you cross the screen quite quickly, but relative to your character a screen width is like 5 strides, so there's no room to maneuver, and a side-effect of no room to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Done with Linda³ Again, and it's the best game I've ever played that I never want to replay. Maybe my way of approaching RPGs works elsewhere, but with Linda it was counterintuitive and not entirely healthy. Great game that more folks should play, but just pace yourself. Back tomorrow with Minoria.

Fire to Flowers is a line in the game Minoria that I liked the sound of, but which turned out to be super symbolically appropriate. DttDS refers to

unlabelledView post →🎮 Gameplay 🔲 Excellent ✅ Good 🔲 Average 🔲 Poor 🔲 Staring at Walls is better Minoria offers a side-scrolling action experience with Soulslike elements baked into a metroidvania-lite structure. Combat is precise and timing-based, with a parry/dodge-heavy system that rewards aggressive play but punishes button mashing. Magic abilities and weapons give some tactical depth, but build variety is limited. Platforming and exploration are relatively light, with backtracking required but not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommend to buy when the game on discount. I have this game sit in my library for 2 years before I try. Well, I can tell you that this game is not age well for metroidvania. Good: Combat is ok and I like parry system. I like art direction. Bad: I don't like map design. There is a lot of shortcut that once you unlock you will unlikely to use them. The ways your character scaling. More: Game is short and story is predictable (both are fine for me) In this game, both enemy and you are glasscanon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to go play mimodora 5 still, I had been a bit discouraged because after Momodora 4 bombservice released the game Minoria, and that game I disliked so much I didn't even finish it. It was like momodora but worse in every way.

I like wonderful 101... Maybe some of your older shooters like Project warlock or somethint
unlabelledView post →That's always a fun way to check out a dev. I started a Momodora game a few years ago, which got me to check out all of rdein's previous games, and watching the development from "linear Cave Story-like" to RUtM, Minoria and Moonlit Farewell was very entertaining!
unlabelledView post →Definitely recommend, my only complaints are that its kinda short, a little too easy, and some of the noises are fairly ear piercing. Otherwise it is a fairly solid metroidvania. It has a fairly easy to follow story and it is visually pleasing to look at.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun enough to recommend. Combat is simple but smooth and easy to learn. It's dodge and parry based, with dodging by just rolling through enemies and parrying by hitting the parry button when the enemy flashes. Seriously parrying is so easy and will save time with combat. Spells have a cast limit instead of requiring mana and are refilled whenever you save. Magic is weaker than melee combat, like you'll spam your spells limit to kill one enemy, but there is a decent variety of attacks and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh my... I'm SO excited to see you branch into a turn based game, my favorite genre <3 When Moonlit Farewell came out I started going back and playing all the early Momodora games and Minoria and it's been very satisfying to experience the improvement and growth of design throughout your portfolio!
unlabelledView post →I think is the most basic metroidvania I played in my life. Is short, lineal and there's not much to explore or discover which is kinda the point of metroidvanias. The combat is also very simple. All weapons types works the same way, most enemies works the same way too. The only challenge is that pretty much everything destroys half of the health bar in one hit so you kinda have to learn how to deal with them, but you can also roll no stop and be inmortal so is not that hard either. The story…

unlabelledView post →Just polished off Ender Lilies. Quite pleased with the game overall. I'm a sucker for a short, sweet, moody game like this from time to time. Makes me want to pick up Minoria or Momodora again. Any other games I should keep a look out in a similar vein?
unlabelledView post →Basic metroidvania fare with nice characters and story, but slow sticky delayed combat and movement. Right from the beginning, quickly bound by numerous locked doors requiring different keys and frequent backtracking to find "the" correct path forward with the only exposed key. Secret pathways also take some time to register and moving to the next screen when that happens results in permanently missing the exposed treasure. Very tanky mobs and bosses that can one to two hit kill you in a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely fantastic mini-metroidvania. Movement is fluid. Bosses are challenging, but not frustrating. The music is the perfect accompaniment to a dramatic, dark religious inquisition story. Every character commits to their role in the story 110%, and there's some great dialogue between them. Read all the lore, the notes you find, everything. They add depth to the story and nuance to the moral questions at play. I enjoyed mixing and matching the incense to refine my approach to combat.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Splendid Character Design
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In terms of atmosphere, art, music and over all vibe, I like the game. However the gameplay is very simplistic and the game is very short, 5-7 hours at most. Story wise it is nothing outstanding. With all that in mind I would recommend it, because it's not a bad game, but it's not anything great either. Definitely buy at a 50% discount minimum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spam the dodge button to roll around the game as quickly as possible!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the game pretty short overall which is not a bad thing since the game is composed of 8 different ennemies and the bosses are not that great either. Music is overall pretty good, the game plays fine but the lack of variety makes for a pretty mediocre experience loosing more hp to the same ennemies that are in the first stage because they're in the last stage doesn't make them more interesting. I feel like I played Moonscars all over again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Minoria is a really short game, with a bland and repetitive gameplay, with multiple weapons but only one of two types of combos they can have. The story is as cliche as it can get, if you have played or watched any type of media in the past 15 years you already know the story of the game. The platforming is really clunky and the metrovenia aspects aren't really that hard hitting because the game is really short so you don't get much out of it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not usually my type of game, I'm bad at hard action games, but I still enjoyed it. Though "just don't get hit 4head" philosophy is always annoying, especially combined with it being extremely easy to roll into contact damage
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the only review I have written for a game, but I felt compelled to do so after completing this one and seeing a lot of the other reviews and discussions. I love the Momodora series, but there is just something different and special about Minoria. The combat and gameplay is familiar but yet has its own flavor to it. You start feeling like you are made of glass, but by the end once you get upgrades and get used to the mechanics you feel like a cannon (still kind of made of glass though!)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played and enjoyed Momodora: Moonlit Farewell long before I even considered Minoria, despite it being the earlier game and my hesitation, it seemed, was somewhat justified. I enjoyed this game - it looks good, feels good, and sounds good - but whilst the visual style was an attempt to step forward, the game takes 2 steps back in many other regards which leaves the experience feeling a bit lacking. In updating to a 2.5D style, the essence of the Momodora 'franchise' is mostly retained by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good vibe and pixel graphics. Extremely basic and repetitious design and gameplay. Boss fights are just not worth it. You can’t react fast enough or get a sense of what the boss will do and you die in just a few hits and then have to run all the way back to them (corpse running). No thanks my time isn’t for sale. I refunded
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the few metroidvanias I didn't like
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Minoria is a lot of fun!! I can't remember the last time I played a game with manual saves, but the backtracking makes me feel like I'm learning The character designs are also so cute
unlabelledView post →Really basic metroidavania, shallow story, but fun for about eight hours, learn the dodge/ parry curve and it will be accessible.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My rating 6/10 Almost a negative review, but not quite It’s a mid tier Metroidvania that scratches the itch for a Metroidvania, but doesn’t really do anything unique for the genre Looks pretty, very shallow
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art is cute but combat is too simplistic, was hoping something like Ender Lilies, it's nothing like that. Shallow combat, not fun for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game kinda lacks "flavour", dunno how to explain it, there is only 6 main areas that sometimes feel like they go on for too long, not to mention you gotta revisit some of them in some point which doesn't help, the room layouts often feel repetitive and too simple, bosses are very simple and highly predictable, almost feel like you are just fighting an overly tanky enemy at times. And also the game is very brief, you can finish it easily in around 5 hours It's an "ok" at best metroidvania…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spoiler alert! Product may contain Contact Damage + Spongy Enemies. Beat first boss no damage to get passive ice elemental damage, equip red sword and proceed to kill anything that moves for another 2 hours, the end. Assets are lifeless, the characters don't even have face expressions of any kind, levels look dry as if still in alpha state, animations frames are jaw-dropping, the text inside dialogue boxes may shake and that's it, character don't have idle animations (neither voices or sounds…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a big fan of rdein games, I've completed all of the Momodora games at 100%. So, I was eagerly awaiting Minoria, its "spiritual successor." I must say, I wasn't disappointed! Minoria is a classic Metroidvania game that involves backtracking and,. for the first time in the series, you can level up by gaining experience from defeated enemies! The game has no difficulty settings, and it's not hard to finish, especially if you like gaining experience to become powerful before facing bosses. One…
