positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So that was... a game. This game is roguelite that honestly would have been a better game without being a roguelite. The items of this game are one note and don't stand out from each other much. In most other roguelites/roguelikes there are items that synergize with other items, but this game does not have that type of system and it suffers from that. Builds don't really "feel" like builds and instead just feel like an assortment of items you think are worthwhile to use. This game should not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Metal Unit is video game junk food. It's like a big bag of cheap potato chips. You buy it because the monkey part of your brain goes "hell yeah, I want that!" It's pretty good at first, but you keep going... And then you find yourself at the bottom of the bag, 1200 calories up. None of it satisfied you, the way you would have been after a homemade cookie (just one!). The chips were addictive, but not enjoyable. That's Metal Unit in a nutshell. "Scrumbled, what the hell?" See, Metal Unit is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually do detailed reviews in which i put the worst for last, lets switch it up this time. The worst with this game is it leaves you asking for more. Not in the "its incomplete" or "there isnt enough here" way, more like "i loved it so much, i dont want this to end". Granted, there are things that could be improved, and the game doesnt make a good case for going into the New Game plus mode, but in an industry FILLED to the brim with sh*t, THIS game is a breath of fresh air. The good: it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It may be pretty generic, but I've had fun with Metal Unit. Your enjoyment of the game will largely depend on whether you're here to experiment with the numerous items available, or simply rush to the end. If it's the former, this could be a game for you. Metal Unit is a what you'd call a roguelite, with upgrades and bonuses you can keep even after death. Not that you'd die a lot, as the game is pretty easy. Pick one of the 3 worlds, and fight your way through 15 randomly generated screens…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10 at full price, 6.5/10 on sale. This game would have been perfect either as a 20-30 hour roguelike experience, or a 10-15 hour story-driven 2d action rpg. It ends up being a 1-2 hour story-driven 2d action rpg padded out to 10-15 hours by roguelike mechanics, and the "Story" that's driving the game is neither cohesive nor compelling at all. It's really too bad because the setting is good, the art is good, and the characters seem interesting. It feels like they had all the right pieces, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Came for the pixelated anime girls, stayed for the decently competent writing and insanely well designed gameplay loop. It's 3$ on sale, what have you got to lose?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A generic and hard to follow story with plain and uninteresting characters. A campaign that plays like a "rougelike" for absolutely no reason other than to artificially inflate playtime. An extremely punishing health system that leaves little room for error. A variety of trivially easy and mechanically uninteresting bosses. And gameplay quality that drops off a cliff at about the half way point. All that being said, I did find myself generally enjoying the combat -- especially early…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Metal Unit, developed by JellySnow Studio and published by NEOWIZ, is a 2D side-scrolling action game that combines slick combat, roguelite progression, and an anime-inspired story about duty, betrayal, and survival. The game follows Joanna, a soldier equipped with a powerful mechanical suit called the M-Unit, as she embarks on a mission to save humanity from monsters and alien invaders. Her journey is made more personal by the fact that her sister, who once fought alongside her, has defected…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy on sale. Decent game, but with a lot of flaws. It's still enjoyable given circumstances. +Gameplay and combat is decent +Good variety of gear and weaponry +Decent boss mechanics +Ok monster variety -Story is meh -Losing gear is way too punishable -Boss fights don't ease you into it's mechanics and feel more like a DPS race. -Item recipes system so bad. It should have been scrapped entirely. Scrolling through sevaral menus to find what i might be able to craft, only to never find the last…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't say I recommend this game. I certainly had my fill, and the gameplay loop is satisfying enough because the enemies go "bleegh" and die. However, this is a definite sale grab at best. The team likely took inspiration from dead cells, and cobbled together their own version. the result is a relatively half-baked product that while not egregious, is at the least, disappointing. Gameplay consists of picking a level, and fighting through a random selection of premade rooms, collecting loot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grab it on sale. It's a fun game but the roguelike element really does not suit the game. Story is really disjointed and jumbled but the world they created is pretty interesting. Characters are fairly simple and there's not much depth to them, not that there needs to be in a game like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it for like $3 its a pretty fun game to play on the steam deck to pass some time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is at once incomprehensible and predictable. The gameplay is generic, the characters are unmemorable, and the progression system is a interesting idea that's poorly executed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. if you die you lose everything you have on you. You barely have space to "store" important items. 2. number 1 wouldnt be so bad if the game didnt like crashing whenever you reach the end of a "world" :) 3. number 1 means you can "master" a weapon and also keep a copy for yourself but not really, doesnt apply to even rare weapons you might craft after a bit. if it didnt crash 3 times whenever I reached the boss stage with good items I would have given it more of a chance.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the roughest polished game I've played. The art is pleasant, run smoothly, looks great on Deck, but game design is poor. Too rigid for an action platformer, too limited for an rpg and roguelite elements are just padding. There is fun to be had, but would I recommend it? No.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a piece of art graphically speaking, beautiful to its core. The story, tho kinda predictable, is enjoyable and heartbreaking. The story itself is short, so to get all upgrades and everything, you must replay dungeons, which can be quite tedious and repetitive. I must say that, being a noob, I love that they included some 'cheats' to easy our gameplay. I tried really hard, but I'm really no good with fast paced games, so after dying twice and losing my progress and equipment in the…

unlabelledView post →It's kinda interesting, but not exactly great. I think there's educational value here. The game really gets a lot of stuff right before going completely off the rails. The story is ok, but nothing too special. There's a Support/Accessibility section in the pause menu that lets you enable invincibility, max out skill points and increase damage. Judging by the achievement stats, most people start fiddling with those options before hitting mid-game. You should probably do that too. So the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core combat is really fun, with loadout building being satisfying. You lose gold and weapons when you die, so unlocking them in the armoury if you want to use them again is a must. Unfortunately, that means using weapons you may not like just to increase the amount of weapons "mastered" so you can have fun with the higher rarity items you found earlier. Crafting new weapons is fun, but I found myself accidentally scrapping weapons that were ingredients because you need to talk to an npc to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of just fun. Did all it needed to. And was a fun little game worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has a bit of Dead Cells feel to it. Love it keep up the good work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would I recommend this game? Yes. Do I like it? Absolutely. It has some problems, but it's a $15 USD game. I paid $17 to get the Grimace Shake at Mcdonald's, and that gave me a fear of the color purple. Good- - Smooth Action Platformer - A decent amount of content for the price - An enjoyable challenge - Highly responsive developer, active on the community hub Bad - The ending to the story sucks SUPER hard - Some questionable game balance things, like how dying gets you more CC than…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a blast playing Metal Unit. While the movement and combat can be janky at times (this is no Hollow Knight), it works enough to keep you entertained. The game rewards you for trying different weapon/accessory combos, meaning each run you probably will be running a different build, and you keep doing that pretty much until you beat the game. I definitely had favorite setups, but I ended up almost never using them because I was always trying out new stuff. Difficulty wise, this is no walk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would have been a nice game if it is not rouge-like, I bet nearly a half players didn't play it twice. It is almost impossible to get a nice experience without acknowledging a growth after each death. If you have not played games like 'Dead Cells', it will be just hard to accept it...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →surprinsingly super fun to play and their story isnt bad its the opposite, they make the characters really enjoyable and all of them have their personality, i would say if you like rogue-likes or rogue-lites give it a try dont think twice and if you like games like 2d scroller with different sceneries places to explore and the variety of builds also do it, the game its on offer really often and you dont be desappointed, i wish i havent get it on offer tbh, i'm waiting for their new game release
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pixel art and animations are decent, and the characters and gameplay work well. There are plenty of weapons to choose from and good variety in how you can build your character. On the downside, the story itself isn't too bad, but it is told very poorly, and the level design feels uninspired and boring. Overall, it was a fun weekend game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →KAMGUSTA'S MINI REVIEW Seems made with some "game maker" - amateurish - I guess developers tried their best, but for me it's not enough, as there are plenty of better metroidvanias out there. I would recommend it only to Japanese-style metroidvania roguelite lovers (that's a damn strict niche). Best played with joypad Recommended buy price: 1$ Score: 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of love has been put into this game and it shows, Great story, visuals, pixel art and most importantly dodge mechanics! reminds me of the Nier Automata evade style which honestly made the game so much fun to play. It really does offer something new than other games and it's totally worth giving a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, this game is a hidden gem. I haven't had this much fun since I played Neon Chrome and Last Station. I loved Rough Legacy but I found my clumsy hands just were nimble enough for that game. Metal Unit in the other hand is much easier because you can grind out and become substantially more powerful. What sets this apart from other Rough-lite is that once you 'master' enough numbers of weapon, weapons will be available to you from Armory so you can select them at the start of your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a metroidvania with the concept of roguelite slapped onto it at the end to pad out game time. It's alright; rng loot is pretty annoying and when you die your given starter equipment, but when your thrust into tankier enemies a bit into the game that just makes things annoying. The slime emperor boss near the end of the game is pretty annoying too until you understand how specifically it was designed to fight (Summon - Lazer - 3 balls to dash - run away for vacuum) the story is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trash story, fun gameplay, buy it while it's on a big sale, like 70% or 80%
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Performs well on steam deck. A great little action packed indie game who has some players who absolutely love this game. This much is evident from the game's steam workshop page.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of roguelike games, robots, and loadouts, I really wanted to like this game. Unfortunately compared to other titles in the genre, it seems to fall a bit flat. I have a few issues which made me not want to finish the game: 1. The story. The story at first didn't grab me. There's some sort of conspiracy, and the plot definitely is complex, but I didn't find an attachment to any of the characters. Why should I care about Captain Yuna, Hana, or even my own character? I have little to no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not too long but lots of stuff to be done especially if you want to 100%. Good variety of builds you can have too. Really enjoyed it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has issues, the biggest among them a lack of content. The main story section has 3 main areas and a final area. The main areas, combined, have roughly 114 stages between them. Now, I know what you're going to say, that's a lot, but truth be told, it's really not, especially since what stages you get are randomly selected in a run of an area. You can and will see the same handful of stages multiple runs. In some cases, I've gotten the same stage in Snowland multiple times in a row.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but the gameplay is really good(and the main thing) :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is honestly one of the best games i think i have ever played. The first day I played it I couldnt step away and the ending is absolutely perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →K-pop Unit A curiously addictive 2D action platformer with roguelite elements, crafting and gear that has to be leveled up. Dying loses all your current unbanked loot. There is a story but it's not very understandable, however the art style is on point. Stages are short and fast paced. The gameplay is purely satifsying with precise controls, fast movements, multi-jumps, and a dash. Enemies are quite varied, though the game will require some level of grinding to master and unlock all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Rouge-like I had in a while. There is an interesting story in here not just go kill, die, repeat cycle. Story mode has crafting system :D (if you can survive the run to extract the items you want -.-' ) It has EX mode for faster pace where you can merge/fushion items to RNG got really busted. Did I mentionend that I love pixel graphics in games? xD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a sideways thumb from me, honestly, a lot of this game was equal parts fun and equal parts tedious. For a rogue-like dying lacks any real ideal, you get CC but that skill tree has nowhere near the effect the equipment does, and the story and especially the ending ends up nonsensical, However, i couldn't stop playing it. It, despite what i was saying about it above it has an oddly addictive game loop, every time i would get annoyed at the game i would come back to it hours later. very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's honestly not that good but I got it for three dollars so hey it could be worse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+fun gameplay loop +neat pixel art; love the flashy attacks and character designs -story isn't too interesting A short, yet fun 2-d platformer rougelike.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dialog is excessive. 5 minutes into gameplay and you've spend 3 minutes just reading predictable trope dialogue. every time there's a new boss or character or shinny new thing, dozens of dialogue boxes. not voiced, not engaging, not fun. Due to the grinding this game requires it'll be a long time before another cut scene. Don't get too attached to your equipment though. even equipped items are destroyed upon death. seriously just play a JRPG, or megaman clone, you'll have a better…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game so much in so many ways, but oh wow is it broken as hell. Combined with long levels and no way to take a break without suicide and sending you back to start with none of your rare and powered up finds, it feels exceptionally insulting when the reason you're stuck is because the jump button stopped working. I thought I damaged my controller for a moment because of it not working but swapped to keyboard and nothing on keyboard worked either. Worse, because jump is also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun but difficult to recommend at full price. Game feels torn between being a story based platformer and a grindy roguelike, would've been better sticking to one or the other as neither is properly fleshed out. Art, music and setting are neat and the controls are smooth but the UI is cluttered and confusing and the story is kinda incoherent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOW, I just can't get enough of this game. I have played a lot, and I mean A LOT of games that have this style, but none as addictive as this. The only criticism I have of the developers is they did not put out the DLC to buy for the OST. That sound is just fabulous!! It sticks in my head for many hours after I have played it and makes me want to go back to it just to get some more of that sweet sweet sound! Killing it devs!! Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add a DLC for the Soundtracks? Thanks!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The company's early games were all the same, super dull and kinda raunchy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Died halfway through the first level. Made me restart? 20 minutes wasted. No thanks. Games that waste your time suck. You should be able to die and get a checkpoint or save and quit when you want in middle of level.

unlabelledView post →It's simple, but kind of boring. There are obviously better weapons out there, and if you don't find them, then good luck! The story was mediocre. Bought it on sale and had fun for a while. IMHO not worth it for the full price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this game up called Metal Unit and it's been fun. I like the concept of a cute girl getting into a human sized mech suit and shooting everything
unlabelledView post →Positive: - Steam Workshop integration. - Really cool modding system that lets you draw your own weapon sprites. - Waifus. - Fun. - Metroidvania. Negative: - An 'assist' mode for game journalists. Note: I really hope they bring 'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night' to PC one day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was on the edge due to the negative reviews seeing as the recent ones were labelled Mixed and the negatives had a lot to say. I think I can safely say that most of these reviews are people who wanted a different game and don't want to judge this game based on what it is. This is one of the best games I've played in years, it's a 9/10 in my book. A very solid roguelite with good progression. Gameplay feels great, controls are tight. I played with a mouse and keyboard and it was still fine.…
