50 of 50 · most liked firstI enjoyed a lot of this game, and tried to stick it out until the end, but unfortunately my irritation with the controls tipped me over the edge. I'm saddened to give this game a negative review, but give it a go if you're less picky than me. Pros: fairly unique fighting system amusing dialogue fairly standard trope, but satirical and interesting Cons: can't rebind keys very hard to control minions, especially while dodging and fighting hitboxes are very hard to target if you're casting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Want a fun Action RPG with a fun game play that rocks to the vibe of the 1980s? Look no further as Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is what you need. Game Overview Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is an open world action RPG that focuses on a theme inspired by the vibe of the 1980s. You play as Phoban, an aspiring wizard who attempts to follow the footsteps of their father by joining the Order and the younger brother of Deimon. Getting a grasp on how the gameplay goes is fairly easy as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction Developed and published by BeautiFun Games, Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age combines fantasy elements such as the use of magic with post-apocalyptic locations and some neo-noir inspiration from Blade Runner’s own neon-lit urban sprawl. This is the dev team’s second game on Steam and they have shown clear signs that they’re capable of delivering a quality game. Gameplay Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age features a very complex combat system focusing on five magical schools…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh boy... What a journey this was. Before going into the actual review, i just want to say that i hesitated to give this one a try. Why? I am very picky about games, and my tastes do tend to differ. I am not a big fan of RPGs, i did play quite few but it's hard for me to find something that i really like within this genre. I loved the theme of the game, the story, and all the little details, and i was afraid i will end up not liking the game very much. A short introduction I usually don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: (Spoiler: Nothing great) Neat concept Game looks good enough Cons: Music is very repetitive and gets old extremely fast. Mechanics are dated and mediocre, at best. A mind-boggling amount of slow cutscenes and dialouge. I like story and exposition but this is just way too much, feels like every couple minutes you're stopped so someone can drone on about something. Enemies respawn as soon as you lose sight of their spawn area. Every. Time. You spend more time running in circles in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Megamagic is an action adventure game dripping with neon style from the 80s. It has some combat issues, but the story will keep you hooked from the intro cutscene. .Story/Premise. Megamagic is set in a future where the collision between Earth and a meteor results in the "Neon Age" in which people can use magic. You are Phoban, the son of a great wizard who stole an ancient artefact: a staff that possesses the power to grant the user with a single wish. Within the artefact is a critter you've…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NOTE: This game was given to me by the developer for review purposes. This did not influence my review in any way. ========================================================== ---------------------------------------OVERVIEW------------------------------------- ========================================================== Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is an action RPG in a unique retro 1980s-inspired setting. The world in which the game is set is like a magic-infested 1980s, with neon and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, I wanted to like this game. It looks really cool, and the prologue was real fun. But the tutorials were so boring. The load times were awful. There was constant dialogue and "cutscenes" that would take away your control while it slowly pans the camera over, then slowly gives you the dialogue, then the other character slowly walks away. The early level combat was uninteresting as my main attack did very little damage, and I'm stuck watching this giant rat thing slowly chew on a guy who is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is a wonderful RPG/strategy with a fantastic story and hours and hours of gameplay. Story Megamagic is set in a futuristic world where magic flows freely (to those who can master it) and you play young Phoban, a wizard who wants to enroll in the Order. Now i’m not going to give too much away about the story as for me this was the reason I kept playing and playing and I’d hate to spoil any of it. There is great substance and depth to it and I genuinely felt…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun, I do recommend it, the price is right for a nice indie title with this much gameplay and an awesome combat system, in addition really customizable talent/spells. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWT7L3xqVCg Graphics, Impressive graphically, very 80s, exactly what they aimed to achieve. Audio , Music tracks done by Mitch Murder, suits the game perfectly. Nice audio throughout the rest of the game also. Gameplay, Great combat very flexible spells/abilities, very interesting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel a little bad giving this a thumbs-down, because it seems like a lot of heart went into this. The style is intriguing, and people clearly spent a lot of time developing the characters and story (which manifests itself through way, WAY too much dialogue). But the game is bad. The controls are awful (and can't be re-bound), there's no controller support for the main character, the skills are arbitrary and mostly useless, the summoned pets are both absolutely vital and a complete chore to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate doing this. I hate finding a game with a unique look and feel, one with a concept I can really get into, and discovering that’s all it has going for it. I’m a child of the 80s and I’ve finally come around to loving its idiotic excesses of synth and hairspray, and Megamagic offers a bizarre fantasy world built upon just that. But it really is built upon just that, with no substance to keep it afloat in a sea of deeper, richer RPG offerings. I wanted to like this one so much, and I did…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DARKKi's Dark Star Reviews - Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is an open world, altough linear ARPG (think about Diablo) that has 80's theme with pretty well written story to go with it. It is an easy game to get into as "tutorial" guides you trough all the new game mechanics that are introduced. You have access to spells and you can also summon different type of minions (grims) to your disposal (and also has co-op where up to four players can control your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awful controls,, game slowdown happens frequently despite exceeding the recommended specs, fights are not fun when you go out side due to the constant spawning. If combat was turn-based it would actually work well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, with an interesting setting and compelling story. There's a nice selection of skills with an involved and immersive unlock system. Combat can be approached in many ways: Slow, tactical and thoughtful usage of the right spell at the right time for maximum efficiency, spammy murderfest while your pets (grims) tank, full on petcombat with you as a support character... it's flexible. But my favourite thing has to be the ambience and aesthetic. Music is excellent, visuals are awesome and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was thoroughly enjoying the game, then I got in a fight inside a building and found out that enemies respawn as soon as their spawn is out of view. ♥♥♥♥ this/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first started this game I felt that Saturday morning cartoon magic like when I was a kid, but there was a difficulty spike that I could not get past and it unfortunately killed the game for me.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yet another example of why Steam reviews system doesn't really work. Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is one of those games that can't be rated by simple “yes / no”. I mean, just by looking at all those negative reviews, you may think that it's pretty bad. But the thing is... it actually isn't. It isn't bad at all. Well, aside from a few minor bugs here and there, lack of balance and the fact that controller support is a lie. But is it actually good? Well... I don't think so. See, Megamagic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great nostalgic style game, with RPG elements, visually, Megamagic is stunning. The art style matches the ’80s theme very well. Bright colours that pop out at you. The level design varies nicely; with bright blue cubic levels, to the dusty desert – there are plenty of beautiful and varying levels to gawk at. As well as the great visual style Megamagic has, you are treated to some great tunes to join you on your adventure. From Hotline Miami 2 and Kung Fury soundtrack composer, Mitch Murder,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We need some action if we're gonna make it like a true survivor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a shame when a game comes out that's 100% your aesthetic but does everything wrong. First off, you can't customize your controls. Yeah, that may or may not be a dealbreaker from some but it's just the tip of the iceburg when you get deeper into the game. You start off with a few spells and quickly realize how underpowered you are after the first two or three real fights. You might start thinking "Okay, so I'll get stronger after I level up or get some more spells, right?" Joke's on you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's with a heavy heart that I cannot ultimately recommend this game. It's got a good concept backed by good music and pretty decent artwork, and the basics of the action combat are kind of neat, too. But only the basics. Things go a bit south when you have to switch spells, which with these keyboard/mouse controls are done with the same hand as your movement. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally selected the wrong spell because I couldn't stop moving(or enemies would swarm me) while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why Lord Why?? They create a perfect looking game, put all the right elements in there and then absolutely flub it with the worst controls in the history of gaming. how the hell does a game like this not have decent controller support? (Its one of those lazy use the right stick to move the mouse setups) But with no ability to adjust the sensitivity whats the point? Avoid unless they fix this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros - nostalgic - smooth gameply (no need to press E to interact or open silly doors. Just move) - rather interesting story. Rather. cons - no remap support (I can't find it) - no window mode support (I can't find it) - dialogue window at the bottom of the screen is too wide, so it's hard to read. Devs, plz reduce its width for readability. - no facial expressions during dialogue scenes... but hey, it's an ARPG.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls are horrible, and coop is a joke. You can't rebind keys. Gamepads don't work (xbox 360 controlers). Game forces you to use pets while making them imposible to manage with bad controls.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The presentation isn't amazing, and it definitely isn't enough to save the game from its huge gameplay flaws. You deal so little damage with your basic attack that you run out of mana trying to kill anything. Then, you have to wait for your horrible mana regen to kick in. You spend a disproportionate amount of time waiting for your mana regen as you watch your summons slowly auto attack enemies to death. Its a shame that casting spells in a game about casting spells is so incredibly weak.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mega magic: Wizards of neon age is a fun, story rich, open World, indie, 80's themed , rpg game. Which gives its buyer his/her moneys worth. If youre looking for an out of the World experience with a magic themed gameplay this is your game. The story is rich with ideas with beasts and summoned minions at every corner. So readers read on at your own peril. This game is the story of Phoban who lives in a World which is at a time lapse from our World, for this World has changed after a meteor…

Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is an action RPG brilliantly blend with the real time strategy is the latest game released from the same company that brought us the amazing Nihilumbra. Opting for a retro-futuristic setting, the game pays homage to all things that made the 80's so funky! From the neon lights to the techno…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age" is an older console-esque 2D isometric brawler/shooter with lightweight RPG elements, a neon/80's theme, and little monster summoning gimmick to the gameplay. All potentially reasonable ideas if matched with an excellent, cutting edge, high quality technical delivery. The developers decided not to provide an excellent, cutting edge, high quality technical delivery for this game. So it bombed. One important note is that even though this is an amateur…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game, the controls are a bit difficult to handle but with time you can improve yourself. Pros You play in a colorful retro design. The retro music sounds good. The fighting mode is unique, sometimes a bit difficult but that makes a challenge. Cons You can't rebinds the key, the gamepad is only supported for the multiplay (a useless feature). The AI of your summoned creatures is bad, often they don't attack the foe although in aggressive mode. I got at my first play a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, love the scripting and how the story is set up in general. Took a little while to get adjusted to the battle system ur screwed stuck at 2 summons, 3 is where the fun starts. 80s magic and zombies for the win. Got into the Chapter 6 and it starts gliching, plz fix.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funny and challenging. Neon and 80s everywhere.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that looks good, seems funny, but once you start playing you feel disappointed.I don't know if it's because it feels a bit hard or if it's something wrong with the gameplay, but I have to say that the visuals are great. Overall,it's not a bad game, but it's not as good as you expected.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a very nice game but it really needs controller support and re-mapping options. I'll change my review as soon as the developers finally add the option they promised around a half year ago already.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →intro generally, there are two kinds of games: the games that have intro movie and the games without. Megamagic has immediately surprised me: first, i didn't expect to have intro video in a small indie studio game; second i was surprised by how its done: a special kind of graphics - i would describe it as something in between modern flat trends, Borderlands-style and 80s comics. tutor i've often met games that you run and don't understand how to play\what to do; i even remember the case when i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, Thanks! ^^
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Under the radar gem. The music is fantastic, the comedy is gold, and the story is satirically interesting. Combat is a little puzzley as well as legit puzzles to solve which were fairly challenging 8/10 would reccamend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game. I would recommend it to everyone who likes 80's style games. It has an amazing combat system for an indie title and some really good customizable talents and spells. Graphically, the game really makes you think of the 80's, which is really nice, since that's what it aimed for. The music tracks are amazing. They were made by the same guy who made the soundtrack for the Hotline Miami series, and it suits the game in a great manneer. The gameplay has a storyline just like an RPG…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished this game, it was pretty fun? Really, really enjoyed the art, and the story line was good, the dialogue was all really funny at times. It had a really cool game design where as you progress, you learn new spells and some other spells become obsolete, so you're kind of always changing exactly how you play the game. (I noticed some people mentioned this as a bad thing in their reviews, I guess it's just personal preference but I really liked it). Overall, I did like the game, there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the price it was pretty damn great. Clean art style, interesting if slightly predictable story. Combat was a bit fiddly, recommend putting it to easy. i played 80% of the way through on normal dying a lot of times, found the game a lot more playable on easy. Enemies do respawn way too quickly though, and are based on you walking away and then coming back. This exposes you to the risk of getting even more enemies when you are running around trying to beat the ones that have already…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Megamagic: Wizards of the Neon Age is an ambitious indie action RPG that boldly fuses fantasy spellcasting with neon-drenched retro sci-fi aesthetics. Developed and published by BeautiFun Games, the title sets itself apart immediately through its visual identity and mechanical hybridization, combining real-time combat, creature summoning, and light strategy elements into a single experience that feels experimental, stylish, and occasionally unruly.
