I've played Lovely Planet for 250+ hours, and I held WR runs in many categories, so I feel that I'm obligated to do this. This game is not for speedrunners. That's all there is to it. No chance of sequence breaks, no vertical aim, no glitches to shoot through walls. Honestly, there's nearly no freedom of movement. The ability to choose how to route your levels was what…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the original Lovely Planet for over 100 hours, and this game feels inferior in every way. First note that this game, like the original does not have a crosshair. Additionally, this game has no y-axis aiming. The game is split into about 100 levels in 4 acts. The goal of each level is generally to kill all enemies, collect any coins and reach the goal pillar. The game feels very limited in terms of movement and aiming, compared to the original, which let you traverse long, uneven…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally don't understand the negative reviews. Fans of the original Lovely Planet ought to enjoy this game. It plays like doom with no vertical aim, you don't go flying like you did in the original but it still manages to keep the pace fast. The style and music is pretty much the same, basically feels like you're playing Katamari but you're wasting everyone with a shotgun. 8/10 will be playing a lot of this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet with a shotgun. That's all you need to know! If you've played the original Lovely Planet and enjoyed it there is no doubt in my mind this game will rekindle those sweet, sweet feelings. Whilst its a different movement system we're all familiar with from the original, this game stands on its own for enjoyment and the difficulty from the get-go. Buy it. Buy it now. 10/10 - This is a biased review, I've waited so long for this moment ;_;
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To address some of the other reviews. No, it's not the same as the previous Lovely Planet. The "Arcade" in the title imples that it's something different. And that's not a bad thing. The original Lovely Planet was great! Fantastic! This Lovely Planet is just a little different, but still great. There's no vertical aim, meaning you only control which horizontal direction you're aiming in. That's one of the biggest changes and it's something that takes a few minutes to get used to. There's less…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: This game was reviewed using a code sent by the developer/publisher it doesn't change my opinion on the game. Lovely Planet Arcade is a very cute FPS game which tests your skills and reflexes and gives you a big challenge. Lovely Planet Arcade is the sequel to Lovely Planet. In the previous title you had a machine gun and it was more focused on platforming, but this time it's all about fast movement and fast reflexes while you shoot people with a shotgun. Before we go into the meat an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was fun, it was mostly skill based and not very memory based. In this, Act 2 and later are fully based on memorisation. There are even invisible enemies that you have to redo the level over and over to figure out where they all are. It just isn't fun, and I don't see why I should be forced to retry multiple times for reasons that aren't based on my skill.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Target Audience: Score Chasers who want to test their reflexes Summary: A game that doesn't truly understand the genre that it's going for. The game is going for the arcade shooter: short levels that are easily replayable, as you try to master your timing while taking out enemies. At first, it does do that to a certain extent, as trying to figure out how to shave off seconds of your time is fun to do. But then the level design and game design decisions to keep things fresh start to mess…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcade certainly feels like a Lovely Planet game while also being decidedly different thanks to going back in time to the no-y-axis shooter style. Getting used to the lack of vertical aiming took a bit(mostly because I have never actually played much of a game like that) but the controls are as tight as ever. Furthermore Arcade doubles down on the speedrunning aspect with a less spammy weapon and purely speed driven scoring. The package still works well enough, but in many ways it is a clear…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A First Person Arcade Challenge Shooter https://youtu.be/fEgOVVGkJnI + Gameplay is a lot of fun. Each level is about 10-15seconds long, and requires you to react quickly while you shoot down enemies and dodge obstacles / bullets. + Has a bit of a classic shooter vibe to it as you can't aim up or down only side to side and jump, which surprisingly felt very refreshing. Each enemy dies in 1 hit so it's all about being quick and making sure your aim lines up. + A very simple yet cute and colorful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stripped down version with more bs levels just because why not. Takes away most of the lovely planet fun out of it. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually like this one a lot despite the community generally being disappointed with this game compared to the first Lovely Planet. It's really different from the other two Lovely planet's in that it's almost like a gallery shooter puzzle game hybrid. The first couple of worlds play like a twitch shooter mostly reacting to the enemies but later into the game in turns more into a puzzle figuring what movement to execute in order to kill every enemy. You can only aim on the x-axis so it's about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet was a game about leaping and flying through a brightly coloured candyland. It was brilliant and skill-testing and if you take anything away from this review, it's that you should go play it. Lovely Planet Arcade is a game about walking slowly around a village killing people. The damnedest thing is that they are made with the same game engine and mostly the same art assets. For instance: Lovely Planet had a brilliant flying jump that you could use to make your own path through…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All i can say is that this game surprised me a bit, it was actually kinda fun, even tho simple looking. But its not a game i could play for hours and hours, but it becomes fairly challenging and you kinda get hooked on that :) Anyways. Very simple shooter. Heres some gameplay https://youtu.be/bLlGUudLvCo
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old school fps with a chinese look. It's hard, so be prepared. Also have in mind that it is very different to the first game, so it's not a platformer anymore. Overall I must say I enjoyed the first one more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, it's great, but there's a couple of problems with it: It gets boring really fast. It's the kind of game you play for like 5 minutes or so, and then you continue a month or so after. Levels are made to be done as fast as possible, which means if you want to ace the game you'll have to replay a huge number of times a lot of levels. This wouldn't be so bad if levels were more unique, since way too many levels feels similar.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GO PLAY LOVELY PLANET 1 and avoid this game like the plague it's like the devolper forgot what made first game good. I absolutely loved lovely planet, it was one of my favorite games of last year and I was very much looking forward to the sequel however this game feels like a step back in every sense. -Gameplay far less fluid and fast compared to previous game espcially the jumpings -Locking camera to horizontal plane not only reduces skill required but also just feels awkward and clumsy much…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game’s levels are divided up into four acts, which gradually introduce more complex enemy types. Levels cannot be skipped if they prove to be too difficult, and the game also lacks a level editor. Like the original first-person shooters, Lovely Planet Arcade does not have any vertical aiming, instead relying on precision timing and aiming to dispatch enemies quickly and efficiently. Most levels have a designed solution regarding whom to engage and in which order, so a majority of the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet was a game that took me by complete surprise, because it seemed like it was just any old indie game and I mainly bought it for the cute art style. It ended up being one of the hardest FPSs I've played, and over the dozen or so hours it took me to get all the stars in it my shooter skills as a whole improved a lot in terms of accuracy and reaction time. It's the kind of game where even when it's so hard you think you'll never finish a level, you can't drop it because it's so happy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet Arcade is the formula youve known to love with the series, with a twist. There is no Y-axis making quick movements and peaking around corners just as nessasary as it was in the original Lovely Planet. Levels start out easy and become harder over time. The same enemy types from the last game are not used, but instead a whole new array of baddies must be mastered. The worlds are more flat and have less scenery, but this makes additional room for the puzzle aspects of Lovely Planet.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever casually booted up a game and proceeded to think to yourself “Wh..what? What is even going here?” as you delved into it? That was pretty much what happened when I played Lovely Planet Arcade. So, no, it wasn’t a very pleasant reaction. During the amount of time it took to assess what was happening in this game, I was trying to keep myself in an engaged and optimistic manner only to be swayed by instant deaths that were more than happy to trigger my anger. This game seems like it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet has always had a special place in my heart and this game captures the same emotions for me. It's still fun and fast, with the same great art style, music, and sound effects. Mechanics of each act are interesting and their implementation evolves from level to level. Lovely Planet Arcade feels quite different from the original, but it still delivers the same fun experience. Can't wait for the next iteration of the series!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was given a review copy of this game before it was released to check it out. here are my hoenst thoughts about it. Lovely Planet Arcade is a slow, simple and frustrating experience that is not fun at all. Lovely Planet Arcade has you going from room to room having either trying to get to the end or killing all of the enemies. Sounds fun right? Well its not. Not at all. Lovely Planet Arcade is a sort of FPS puzzle game that forces you to play the game exactly the way the designers want.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wasn't that big a fan of the original Lovely Planet. Although I could recognize why it had a dedicated fanbase, I've never been super interested in score attack/speedrun games. I still thought I'd check out Lovely Planet Arcade since I already had it from a bundle. And well, Lovely Planet Arcade is just a more shoddily designed version. The gunplay is worse and the level design is consistently boring. I wouldn't recommend it for more than $2, and that's if you really like score attack games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You shotgun your hostile neighbours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Full disclosure: My copy of Lovely Planet Arcade was supplied by www.pcgamesnnews.wordpress.com] The original Lovely Planet was certainly an unexpected bit of joy - And by joy I mean frantic, stressful, skill-demanding shooting that was punctuated by a (mostly) strong soundtrack and bright, cheerful visuals. It’s also a game I never finished because of how challenging it was, asking an incredible amount of skill from the players in terms of movement, accuracy, and of course efficiency for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original IMO was a masterpiece but i went in to this intending to judge it as it's own game the first 3 acts are fun but far too easy and short then act 4 introduces enemies that give you a grey screen when you kill them until you shoot another enemy and friendlys the shoot at you that can't be parried this doesn't give a fun challenge it just makes the game irritating and imo unplayable very disapointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is preliminary review, so it might change when I encounter later mechanics. TLDR: Like the last game, slow and steady wins the race, more so here because you can't quickly fire, you must be precise with your shots. It's no longer a platformer, more a straffy shoot things in the correct order but watch out for surprise enemies kind of game with similar graphical and musical design as the original. Overall an easier game than the original, but with a similar though more lade back charm.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought this is the original lovely planet but its the retarded arcade version which is worthless. Instead of jumping higher than superman and running fast as flash you have this shotgun and slow moves, I played just the 1st level then i unistalled and i was thinking why is the sea full of salt. This game is tottaly slow ♥♥♥♥ worthless but i can see why so much weirdo still like this bad slow worthless game. 1/10 - After playing this i can finally see how the FIFAs are good games and not the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet Arcade is fun for the short while until you hit world 3. At that point, they up the difficulty artificially by tossing really annoying enemies and patterns at you, and unfortunately the music gets surprisingly repetitive to boot. In world 3, there will be enemies that are completely invisible and use hitscan weapons that will force trial and error. Then they'll introduce enemies that blind you until you perform a certain action like picking up coins. This leads to level designs…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is sure interesting, it's some sort of arcade spin-off of a game called Lovely Planet, a sadistic first person shooter and platformer about… about what actually? That game is just a trip, and so is this game, both of them are simply nonsensical fun and rage. In Lovely Planet Arcade, you play as a man who took 16 tabs of acid and decided to shoot the weird green people he started to see, but in reality he's probably shooting up a school. (DAMN, that was an edgy joke!) In all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming from somebody who loved lovely planet, this feels like a dumbed down version. The lack of a y axis for aiming and every level being flat makes this game seem much slower paced than the first. Definitely does not have the same feel at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: Just play the original game again. This is not a sequel, it's just a bad spinoff. The original was a million times better. This game is VERY different, don't buy it if you're wanting something like the original. Yes, you have to kill all the opponents and reach the end, but other than it's graphical style, that is where the similaritly ends. This is pretty much a spin off, and fails to be as good as the original. The original was speedrun friendly, but the new one, you do everything as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really liking Lovely Planet Arcade. If the first game controlled more like Quake, this one is more like old school DOOM or Wolfenstein 3D. They simplified a lot, but they turned up the puzzle factor a ton. Some enemies will slow down time, others will teleport you to their location, and some will require you to jump to get over their armor. You have to kill enemies in the right order, the right way, and quickly. The trailer doesn't really do it justice. I was really worried about the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just as wacky and colorful as the first game! I'm loving it so far :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely planet arcade is the 2nd chronological installment to the lovely planet series and i think despite taking a different direction into the series, is much better than the first installment. The gameplay is similar to doom but has the same gimmicks as the first game, shooting bombs before they touch the floor, shoot enemies before they shoot you with some extra new stuff thrown into there, it starts slow but picks up the pace nicely and starts getting puzzle oriented which personally i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly good little game but nowhere near what the first lovely planet was. It's got interesting gimmicks but having to do all 106 levels three times is really boring. But I really recommend at least unlocking fast mode. It's very fun and feels like that's how the game was meant to be played Overall it's cheap and stuff a fun game, do recommend, 6.5/10 maybe
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doom eternal looking a bit different from what I remember
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even with my short playtime I was able to tell that the original "Lovely PLanet" game is a much more solid game in my eyes. There was a free movement unlike in this one, your aim is locked in horizontal axis and you no longer shoot projectiles. There's fun to be had, but I've gotto recommend Lovely Planet over this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More downplayed and puzzle-oriented version of it's predecessor. While the original 'Lovely Planet' has 'Quake' vibes, this game can be compared to 'Doom' instead. Your vertical view is locked and the platforming elements are (almost) absent. And although you probably will still have some fun, i say buy the original instead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played the first Lovely Planet, you'll feel right at home. The dynamic is changed a lot though, this time you're using a shotgun and it's all about choosing which enemies to shoot first. Many enemies activate powerups when shot, including teleporation and time freezing, which leads to some really mind boggling action. Like the first game, you go from thinking something is impossible to doing it just a few minutes later. Seems much easier than the first game to me. I beat it in 3 hours,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Act 4 is a poopshow
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely little arcarde game! Lovely Planet Arcade is more of a spin off than an actual sequel to Lovely Planet, and it behaves quite differently from the first game. Your goal in Lovely Planet Arcarde is to reach the end of the level as fast as possible while collecting any coins and shotgunning the green people with hats any time you see them. There are different mechanics that are introduced over the four acts of gameplay including slow motion, teleporting, bombs, and even blindness. All…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet Arcade is a first person shooter puzzle game, and a sequel to the 2014 title Lovely Planet, which was extremely well received, especially among the speedrunner community. This continuation introduces some drastic changes to gameplay, while still preserving some of the gameplay elements that made the original so enjoyable. The game is separated into four worlds, and about 110 levels in total, each of which take 5 to 20 seconds to complete. The twist however, which has also made…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is ridiculously addicting! And soo random but if you've played Lovely planet this is even better!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reading the other reviews here, you would get the sense that this is overall a disappointing sequel to Lovely Planet(a game that you should definitely play). But that really isnt the case here, because this is a spiritual sequel, and not a direct one. You see, Lovely Planet was a game about jumping momentum and preciseness, and it gave alot of freedom to the player to figure out the fastest route to the goal, being a favourite among speedrunners. Lovely Planet Arcade isnt that game. Where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely love it! Downloaded it last night and currently going threough Act 2. A fun game that you can jump in and play for a few minutes... or can spend hours perfecting the route to take and sequence to take down enemies to get a three star rating. Simple arcade shooting on the surface, really interesting puzzle game if you want it to be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5OnrAwlTB4
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its everything you love about the first game, in streamlined form. No more wasting valuable time leading shots, you have hitscan now. Losing because the apples hit the ground before you could see where they were? Now they are more visible and easier to hit. The 3 star system is fixed to be more about speed than accuracy now too, so getting a level finshed fast feels more rewarding than a chore. The "hardcore" fans may not like the changes, but this is a spinoff/sequel. Sometimes change is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game when you have 5 mins and want a break. Nothing special about it. Easy to get into it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very lovely and funny gameplay. 100/100 recommend. A bit repetitive after 30 minutes thought. Still a worthwhile experience!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything you love about the original Lovely Planet has been stripped away from this game. I don't have the words to accurately describe just how bad this game feels compared to the original.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Planet is Quake, Lovely Planet Arcade is DOOM.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game to just pick up and play for a while. also the ost is great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great sequel to the first game "Lovely Planet", but more oriented towards "puzzle" solving, still maintaining the reflex-based shooting and taking an unexpected "Doom-esque" shooting style by completely removing up and down aiming on flat worlds. Great game! (try the prequel too!)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review Lovely Planet Arcade is a game developed by QUICKTEQUILA and published by tinyBuild Games You jump high, you run very fast, and every shot has to be calculated. The game comes down to, shoot every red thing, avoid hitting the blue things and then touch the exit The developer does a really good job of working with these simple rules into making a really fun game. Later on you can encounter other enemies that can shoot at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the lack of Y-axis aiming and jumping, I found the game fun up until the invisible enemies showed up (didn't show up?) and turned the levels into trial-and-error BS. It's just not as good as Lovely Planet. The only improvement over the first game is that this tells you what killed you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How can you not smile while shooting things in the face when playing this game. Super colorful and joyful all while dodging cannon balls, bullets, and bombs. Fun for the whole family. Can easily turn into a rage game, which is always exciting as well! If you want to see my full experience it is available on YouTube.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is it as good as the original game? Nah. The game is too restricted and the controls are not nearly as fun. Is it still good? Yeah. It's a different kind of game for sure, it's more like a puzzle game than anything else. While the original had aspects of this in the last two worlds, it's pretty much the entirety of the gameplay here, figuring out the order to shoot enemies and how to optimize levels to shave off milliseconds and get those three stars. There are definitely some design issues…
