Immersive Sim Illusion - Gone The original LBA felt like an immersive sim even though it wasn't. This was misleading but felt great. The remake is more fair but but this fairness comes at the cost of a sense of richness and depth, making it feel less engaging: No more stealth whenever you want (I understand they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could put an average score to this remake because it's not "bad" but just not for me. As a little girl from the 90's, I loved LBA1 and LBA2, I even made some small figures in cardboard and drawings about Twinsen and Zoe, replayed this game every 5 years or so. Sadly, the nostalgic child wasn't happy with this remake, it was clearly made for the "new" generation of young children's and that's ok. But why? -I didn't like the over busy art style they went for. Sometimes I couldn't find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately a disappointing remake that very much misses the point. On the positive side, there is some welcome effort to reconcile the geography between the two games and fill in the gaps of the original. The graphics are at least more modern and not without their charm, although definitely not an upgrade in style compared to the original. There are a few fun references and easter eggs to enjoy, but these do not make up for the changes to the story and gameplay. The changes made to the…

Is this game a masterpiece? The original certainly was. Little Big Adventure (in other parts of the world: Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure) was created in 1994 by French developers Adeline Software, having previously created the landmark Alone in the Dark (for Infogrames). It was a typically French game - difficult, emotional and set in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I loved the original Little Big Adventure and it still hold a big place in my childhood memories. This remake is unfortunately nothing but a poor imitation of the original. Some changes in the gameplay actually made it worse, like removing the different walking modes. The game is far too easy and non-challenging respect to the original. The changes in the story really are unnecessary and the finale is actually way worse than in the past. All in all I did not enjoyed, I had…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The remake of Little Big Adventure – Twinsen’s Quest is a mixed bag. On the surface, it’s easy to appreciate the effort that went into modernizing the visuals and improving the voice acting — both are clear upgrades from the original. The world looks charming and colorful, and characters sound more alive than ever before. Unfortunately, that’s where most of the improvements stop. Despite the facelift, Twinsen’s Quest doesn’t capture the same magic and excitement that made the original so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty poor remake. Graphics are... ok. It suits the overall LBA theme. But... Controls are, poor, non-rebindable. Changes have been made to the overall story - why? Who is this arrogant brat Luna? Why is she there? She literally adds nothing to the game/story, besides being an annoying brat every time you see her - luckily, there are only a few times in the game that you do. Why is Twinsen's hair purple? It makes no sense. Menu system is poorly designed for the controller... with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My initial contact with the LBA franchise was in 1998, when I bought Twinsen's Odyssey from a newsstand. It was the first Zelda-like adventure game that I had ever played and it turned out to be fundamental in shaping my appreciation for the genre as a whole. Twinsen's world quickly became one of my favorites for all of its zany characters and endearing charm. I never got to play its predecessor as a child, though — hell, I didn't even realize that there was a prequel to Odyssey in the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The change in art style from the original to this is a no go for me. It looks like a cartoon game for small kids.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What have they done to my boy? Twinsen has a bratty little sister now. He is not saving the world, he's saving his little sister, and gets berated both by her and Zoe. Cause he is most definitely cattle. He also has no more athletic, aggressive, sneaky and normal stances. It's all with the hit of an E. It sucks. It's like getting Crysis and making the special armor a quick time event. The hit detection on slopes SUCKS. you can see the ball - which comes out of nowhere - hit but not register…

unlabelledView post →Well, this is a nostalgia trip. It is a fine game for anyone who didn't play the originals, not great but not terrible either. But for a lot of us who played the originals, anything new related to Twinsen being released is pure joy. For context, we've literally been waiting for anything new to come out since last century. Now regarding the game: it is a remake of the first Little Big Adventure game, also called Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure depending on the region. In my opinion it is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To start off - LBA 1 and 2 are childhood favourites of mine so take this review with that in mind. I'd love to give this game a positive review but far too many changes have been made that removed features from the game and actually added bugs you can encounter at the very start of the game. I suppose if i wasn't a fan i wouldn't be so critical of it but then again considering the game is advertised as an overhaul to the original you can't just shrug it off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's been a long time since I played the original on PC. The remake is an admirable effort, but falls flat in most respects. The controls were always clunky. I remember spending hours of frustration with some of the platforming. Platforming seems more clunky and the removal of stealth fundamentally changes the game. Enemy AI is worse, but so close combat can be so buggy that you still die. Path finding is very poor. I have had cut scenes not complete. I really wanted to have a trip down…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LBA was a game I got on PS1 in 1997, a childhood classic that stuck with me for years. This remake of the game is both excellent, and disappointing. What's good: It is a faithful recreation of the original down to some funny little egg easters. They removed the fairly useless behavior types for Twinsen. You don't have to go into agression mode to hit something, there's a button for that. You don't have to go into athletic mode to run, there's a button for that. You get the idea, the game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a Fan remake of the original game froim 1994. There is already an enhanced version of the original, which is very good. So why make a half hearted version? Just for Switch release and to make some money. There are too many b ugs and the half hearted team doesnt seem to care..why would they? They got their money and the game is almost playable.. So please just get the original game, there is even a sequel, which is also a better game than this! So save money and get 2 better games! Oh…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up with Little Big Adventure, so discovering this game gave me a real feeling of nostalgia. The game keeps the unique atmosphere of the original: a strange, colorful world full of charm, with Twinsen and the planet Twinsun that I loved exploring as a kid. The remake modernizes the graphics and gameplay while still respecting the spirit of the original game. It’s not perfect, and some parts still feel a bit old-school, but that’s also part of its charm. What I loved most was rediscovering…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the original game is pretty much in my top of favourite games of all time. This game is rather good. It's not the original game and it's clear to me that the reasons why I love the original game is not why the (re)makers love the original. I suppose that's always an awkward thing with remakes. It's not as dark, the rough edges have all been filed off, the dialogue and world building is just not as threatening and mystical as the original. But this game has incredible vibes. I love the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The music in this remake was a huge downgrade. That music is part of what made the original so good. Refunded the game just because of that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They massacared the original game - all was required from the remake were modern graphics and controls. With some caveats (don't really like new art style and different hair color of the protogonist, as well as edgy low-res cutscenes + some button layouts are rater strange and you can't even change it, but it's better the the original) you could say that the devlopers have provided that. But why on earth they had to change original plot?! Who was the brilliant mind that came up with this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Big Adventure 1 Remake – A Faithful Return That Repeats Old Mistakes Remaking a cult classic like Little Big Adventure is a bold undertaking. The original, released in 1994, was quirky, ambitious, and wildly creative for its time — but it was also undeniably rough around the edges. The 2024 remake clearly sets out to modernize the experience while preserving its spirit. In many ways, it succeeds. In others, it feels almost too faithful to its predecessor. Let’s start with what works.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adore the original LBA2 when I was growing up, but never got to play the 1st properly. I did eventually when both came to Steam and I was delighted to revisit those memories. Not having the same memories of the 1st game makes it a bit tough to approach it with the lens of nostalgia, so when I say I both adore this from my childhood, but also have a more objective take on this remake, that's what I mean. I do think that the modernization to both the narrative and the game mechanics are more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A stunningly lovely reimagining of the adorable 1994 cult classic, Twinsen's Quest is an easygoing, colourful and quaint homage that sands off a lot of the rough edges and difficulty from the original game for the better. While the original game could be pretty brutal and oppressive, especially early on, this game is much more focused on allowing you to relax and enjoy the story. While the story has been altered (Very) slightly to allow for a more cohesive narrative and despite the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I had completed the game I would like to write a few words about it Like many people out here - I'm a huge fan of original games. Childhood memories, hardcore gameplay and so on ) The style. I thought that change of art style was a bad idea. But after a few minutes of gameplay I accepted it and It's not that bad after all. 2.21 is a small company and this cartoon and minimalistic style is a good idea not to spend too much time creating new realistic objects. The gameplay. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the second game, I played a lot in my childhood. When I saw that they did the remake of the first game, I was excited. However, this game... has problems. If you are a fan of the series, probably you will ignore, but if you never played the original games, you probably will not like. There are a lot of collision bugs, especially with stairs. You may climb really far and not aligned with the stairs, resulting in a falling or even being stuck in a place that you must not be. If you press…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to recommend this. I want them to make LBA2 and then, finally, the LONG awaited LBA3 (and beyond?). I also recommend it because, at the end of the day, I liked it, don't get me wrong. But I can't help but feel disappointed and I'd like them to improve facing possible future releases. Basically, this is exactly the same game with different art style and WAY easier. This means I already knew from the get-go what to do and where, and faster than before. Wouldn't say that's exactly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the deluxe edition to support the devs and instead of appreciation I got slapped in the face like may others. Turns out that whoever bought the deluxe edition on launch suffered from a bug in Steam that only the deluxe content was installed and no game files. It took the lazy publisher 4 days to fix that, the whole weekend ruined! The devs couldn't care less and were indifferent to the issue on their discord servers and Steam forums. After the problem was solved they didn't even offer…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relentless, as it was called here, was literally the first videogame I ever beat on my own and it will always hold a dear place in my heart. As such it was such a nice surprise for this to popup on my Steam feed. While ultimately I am not a fan of the art style direction and some of the new characters, many other changes were very welcome, the controls especially, and I am enjoying my time playing through this again. I'm honestly surprised that I was able to remember many of the puzzle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic reimagining of the first of two games in the Little Big Adventure duology. The art style is a very good fit even though it is quite far from the original's palette and overall look. The story is pretty short and bare bones for today's standard, but it does the job. The second game is more ambitious and varied in terms of locale and gameplay elements, and I'm looking forward to playing a fresh version of the very game that got me into PC gaming almost 30 years ago.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m feeling a bit down. The first video games I really remember playing were LBA1 and LBA2. I couldn’t even read back then, so my mom would read for me. I have a much deeper connection to LBA2, and I’ve replayed it every couple of years since childhood. But I also know LBA1 inside out, so it’s tough to see this remake fall short. I wish there was a “meh” option on Steam reviews, but I still have a lot of issues with this remake. The art style looks nice but feels flat. The music is fantastic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a trip down memory lane, but I wouldn't recommend this as a game for anyone who isn't in it for the nostalgia of the original. I don't think the new art style has improved the game, skipping the different "stances", while in some ways an improvement because that system was quite clunky in the original, feels like it simplifies the game a bit too much. Combat is not challenging at all. I'm sad to say this feels like quite a poor remake of the original.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a negative review, but if you loved the game as a child then it still might be a nice purchase. But as we all know children have no taste for whats good. ;) Its a negative review because while they have done several improvements to the game its still a really confusing mess. Thankfully they have added most things to the map and the adventure journal, the map is a return from the original but seems less useful than i remember..? BUT as you can sequence break some things AND some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LBA2 was one of the first video games I ever played. I tried playing LBA1 afterwards but it was very difficult and the game mechanics were a step down from what I was custom to from the sequel so I never finished that game. I will probably not finish this sequel either. Seems like a mistake to have remade this game really... the story is good but the quests feel very 1994. Games have come a long way since then. Throwing gawdy textures and an annoying new character (Luna) hasn't really relieved…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LBA1 and it's sequel were my favourite games growing up. Sadly I don't think this remake is great. I preferred the old art style I feel they could have just improved what had existed before. Everything is just too bright and silly. The original was a distopian feel darker, greyer and sound track was foreboding. You do after all start the game in an asylum for having dreams that threaten the militant state of the world. The changes to the story are sadly for the worse... Luna is pointless.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say - the eternal classic just become better. Of course some bugs, imperfections and cutted corners here and there, but given the size of a team, the timespan of dev process and that Disqord channel is working hard to polish it to the perfect - I have no reason to complane. Hope for the 2nd, renewed, and the 3rd, new part of the story! Thanks for the revivied childhood!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: A fun nostalgia trip that is way too rough around the edges. While I do believe there's a good game in here somewhere, I ran into too many issues to recommend it to other people. A lack of options (I can't even change the game's resolution!), gameplay bugs (especially the way Twinsen suddenly changes movement direction when preparing to throw the ball mid-movement) and general lack of polish (there's so many instances where the VO and the dialogue box are mismatched) make me believe…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is full of bugs and combat is very annoying. Sometimes its not clear what to do or where to go. Graphics is nice though. I woule recommend playing the original (unfortunately)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have such fond memories of LBA, especially LBA 2, but this remake is so buggy and faulty, it is often unplayable. From falling through the map (and drowning), to NPCs getting stuck, to other bugs not allowing quests to be completed, and getting stuck in a permanent jail loop, this game is just about unplayable. I really pushed it hard and tried my best to enjoy it over about 4 hours of gameplay, but it just isn't possible and shouldn't have been released in this state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly faithful remake of the classic, with improved controls and minute tweaks to the story. For me, compared to what others might think, the tweaks do not detract from the story whatsoever. While I did start out with the sequel a long, long time ago, I can see and respect what the original did, and experiencing it fully through this remake is still wonderful. There are a few potentials for a soft-lock, usually involving the grates, and small bugs related to the game audio, but still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LBA: The magic ball childhood revival Having waited for news for over 23 years, it tells by itself that I have been a loyal fan of the Little Big Adventure franchise since childhood. Over time, glimpses of endearment appear as the original creators revisit their old works from the 90's and flicker out (even as remasters came out). But as much as I accepted that this is all there was that the Adeline Software crew had to deliver, I still remained hopeful... Then, news broke out that a dev…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I learned that LBA was getting a remake, I was beyond excited. Twinsen has been part of my life ever since I can remember. I played the original games multiple times with my uncle and my brother, and continued to do so for a long, long time. Twinsen is very dear to me. What 2.21 did, from updating the original games to the remake itself, is nothing short of a miracle. The amount of love and dedication they've put into this series is incredible. "Little Big Adventure: Twinsen's Quest" is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love seeing that series still getting more love after all these years. As someone who started the series with LBA 2 I never could get myself to play the first part with all its quirks and such, but I enjoyed the let's plays. But now with the remake I finally got to explore LBA 1 after all. And it was a great and fun experience. I love all the improvements that were made and how places from LBA 2 made it onto Citadel Island. I may need to get used to the new art style as it looks kinda untidy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not just a remaster, but a complete remake. This means it's essentially a brand-new game, featuring a new art style, revamped controls, and additional characters, all while staying true to the core story. Unfortunately, not everything has been improved—such as the music—and there are still quite a few bugs. However, nearly every other aspect is significantly better, ensuring this game will stand proudly for another 30 years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game bringing back the good old memories of the first adventure I played on PC. Though it was LBA2 back in these day. I pleasantly gave my 30€ for the nostalgia. Still the remake is also very well executed (better controls, enhanced camera movements and of course graphics). I hope the developers get a lot of gratitude for the effort to bring this series back from the dead. For people who have no connection to the original I can see that 30€ is quite some money as : - it's just a 10h…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me "Little Big Adventure 2" was the game of my childhood. I must have completed it hundreds of times and at the time I was always curious on what was the first game. At the time local guy that was selling games in my town told my father told me that the first game is rubbish as you just around and that's all. That guy was so wrong and it took well over 20 years for me to learn that. In his defence, before this remaster, I found the first game a bit bland, boring and the story much weaker…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played the original LBA2 as a kid, then being able to play/replay both LBA and LBA2 as an adult (thanks to services like GOG), I'm so happy to see these being remade and re-imagined by a devoted studio. What's better is they've announced LBA3. Be aware that this is not a 1:1 remake, the story has been rewritten and many of the mechanics have changed from the original LBA1. I'm actually OK with the changes that were made, I found the original LBA1 to be hard to work with and at times it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of Little Big Adventure 1&2 and couldn't believe it when I heard that there was a remaster happening. I have just finished the game and I would recommend playing it, it did feel like a walk down memory lane. There are many things that I love about this game, the design of the game was nice and had a more modern feel to it. :) The music by Philippe Vachey was simply beautiful. I love the soundtrack from the originals and I am so thankful that they tried to keep to the original…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did they even playtest this game? It's so full of bugs, glitches, and localisation errors that it feels like it released two months too early. Twinsen's Quest leans heavily on gamer nostalgia to get a passing grade. If you did play the original, then you'll enjoy this. The graphics, audio, and gameplay have all been updated, everything looks and feels great (unless you venture off-script and get stuck behind some scenery or encounter missing dialog). There are some changes that will be very…

Second one i meet is when get the key going to the cave after got the ball in house. You cant go back to house because collision bugs. You will just crawl infinite forever. Come on!! This game released 2 years already. Are you going to tell me those oblivious bug you not going to fix or enhance the playing experience?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This remake of the classic original is quite a surprise for a game. While the story is a little updated but stays true to the original, the gameplay is brilliantly updated - the magic ball is more fun to use, islands are not much bigger landscapes to explore with no tedium of loading in each location, and the graphical presentation is an absolute blast. BRING ON THE SEQUEL'S REMAKE!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really not sure what to say to be honest. I want to like this game, I loved the original. But, the jarring art style is very challenging to get past - not only because it looks like wacky kids art, but because so much of it looks like generic Unity assets. Many games made in Unity have the funky low poly style and possibly a very limited color palette they all look the same. Just look at screenshots of Albion Online and then Little Big Adventure. Same rocks, same trees, same sand, same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphics in this remake are amazing, especially on SteamDeck! I love how the Tank Controls are gone. I love the small world they have created. They look like little clay miniatures. Very nostalgic and cannot wait for Purple Empire!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really appreciated the updated graphics and art style and loved the (minimal) changes the story with Zoe introduction. The controls and stances change is also a big improvement in my book. On the negative side, the remake is somewhat clunky and unpolished. But, still got this "magical" feeling of the original games, and the remade graphics really helped it with the hazy and coloreful palette.
My very first game was LBA2, haven't played this one. So I picked this one up purely because of nostalgia for the second part, which was much better. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the opportunity to play in good quality, despite the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it. Having played the classic Twinsen back in window 95, it brings back nostalgia and I love that I do not need to keep pressing enter to refresh the map XD The art direction is a bit weird to me, but I kinda grow to like it. Gameplay wise, it has been simplified. No more mood system and tank movement, but I kinda like the fluid control in the remake. The magic ball is a bit clunky to use and took me awhile to get used to. If I spam the throw button, the ball would reset itself mid…

I understand it's up to me to make more saves, which i didn't do, but keep in mind that when you play the game there is the possibility to get stuck at certain scenes. If you don't have the right saves prepared you lose all your progress up until…
