60 of 188 · most liked firstmarked as steam deck verified. No ground texture on any map, devs abandoned fixing it and give cryptic answers on the forums. Cool.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT: The game is now working on my 6750XT with latest AMD drivers. I am leaving this review marked as negative due to the complete lack of acknowledgement or support from the dev who replied to other issues but not the AMD users who couldn't even launch a game they paid for. Buyer Beware: This game does not work on newer (6XXX+) AMD cards. It will consistently crash on the main menu. I have tried to find a solution for 3+ months on the community forums. No help from either the few fans left…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! It has a major unresolved issue with properly loading all the needed files the majority of the time you try to start a map. This bug results in black boxes where your houses/trees were suppose to be. It appears this issue has been around for a number of years but the dev ignores it. This game really should not even be for sale on steam.....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seemed to be a spiritual successor of games such as Pharaoh and Caesar, and there are many aspects of this game that do indeed follow this philosophy. However, there are some pretty major issues. - The walkers do not remember the last direction they followed at intersections, so every strategy devolves into making large loops or single lines that are blocked off at all the entrances. - You lose the game as soon as you go negative. Not only that, but the game allows you to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR This is a beautiful looking yet problematic game with performance issues, a bad tutorial, and only one way to build successfully. Pros: + beautiful artwork and style + nice and relaxing music Cons: - bad tutorial - singular layout for building success - lots of performance issues when there should not be - minimal depth I bought this game being an avid city builder fan and ultimately regretted it. This game has a beautiful steampunk-ish setting, and some really nice artwork. That…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has great visuals and an interesting setting. Unfortunately gameplay wise it feels like every game plays out very similar and once you solve the formula you kinda replay the same startup every time. It's not a bad game, but it's not great either. It's just very "okay".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to write a good review about Lethis because I love the genre. I've spent countless hours in my childhood and adolescence playing Pharaoh, Cleopatra and Zeus. But Lethis is just like the classics... but worse. The core mechanics are exactly the same. Just copied and pasted. You build house plots for your citizens to settle and then provide them services. Water suppliers, shop vendors, actors from the theater, they all roam the streets and satisfy the houses' necessities.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lethis is an alright indie city-builder. The game is very particular about how you have to build your towns, but once you figure out the formula it works fairly well. The art style is neat and the industrial setting is interesting. During the campaign missions you also get to trade with the cities you built previously for the resources the campaign expects you to exploit there, which is a nice touch. The economic system is like a more basic version of the 90s classics in the city builder…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is buggy missing ground textures can't render at the right resolution. Game play wise there is a very specific formula for how you build your town. Once you get the formula then you can build easily but there is no challenge as you have to always follow the formula. leads to very boring city designs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Says verified on Steam Deck, but ground textures don't load at all. Apparently it's a known bug on Linux, been around for years.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who adored, and still plays, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, I really wanted to love this game too. Some of the mechanics and game-play are happily quite similar, and the graphics are so cute! I like the Victorian twist. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough of an overseer/overlay function for me, so it's hard to keep track of what's going on with each industry after buildings have been placed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was so charmed when I saw this game and got started playing. It seemed like a fun and super welcome spin on the old Impressions games. (Pharaoh, Zeus, Emperor.) I plunged in and played, ready to fall in love with refining the details of city management and learning to streamline my strategy. Unfortunately, I soon found that wasn't really necessary. This game turns out to be a rather shallow facsimile of those games I loved. The graphics are decent and there was potential here. But that's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable resolution issues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have black tiles replacing stuff for me, no clue how to fix it. Had to verify integrity of game cache twice, each time it found new files missing, problem never went away. Newest GPU drivers are installed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I could give a neutral "eh" review, I would. I spent many hours as a teenager playing Zeus/Pharaoh/Cleopatra and recently re-bought Zeus on Steam to play through again. Lethis is basically a clone, but other than the aesthetic, poorly done. The art is beautiful, the music makes sense for the vibe but gets old fast. I'm not a huge fan of steampunk, but I like the idea of the world. However the campaign story is totally uninteresting; you don't get to know the characters at all, each mission…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The world of Lethis is no doubt incredibly beautiful to behold. While in the throes of construction you may find yourself mesmerised simply by zooming into various features of the map both natural and manmade, and observing their animations as they cycle round and round. Unfortunately, behind this facade lurks a dark secret. The aesthetic layer of Lethis feels like a combination of Steamboy and Madeline, and once you've become accustomed to it you come to realise that it's an attempt to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a shame... such an exciting concept poorly executed. Caesar III with a steampunk overlay... except basic concepts are missing or don't work. 1. Need to either show coverage areas or list in description of buildings how many homes a building can service. Had houses collapsing 2 doors down from a maintenance building, had houses RIGHT NEXT DOOR to an expensive fountain collapsing because "the neighborhood wasn't pretty enough". 3 doors down from a well and a wash house I had homes that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't see any reason to recommend this other than the charming art direction. This game made a splash when it came out; people talked it up so much that I added it to my wishlist right away, but it wasn't a huge priority so I didn't purchase it until 4 years later in 2019; I also bought the developer's other game (haven't played it), mostly because there is so much potential in this game that it hurts me to write this. This game has serious problems. Trading is terrible, UI design is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is smartly made. The graphics are quaint, the music is engaging, and the game itself is fun to play. As someone who loves city builders and strategy games, this game is right up my alley... Except the tiny text makes the game next to impossible to play. I shouldn't have to strain, squint, and fog up my screen in order to read all the dialogue you're throwing at me. I got this game in 2019 and, in looking for a solution (there doesn't seem to be one), I found threads with this exact…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally I was not to impressed by this game. I felt it lacked content but after building the clocktower in the campaign I have grown to like this game more. It could use more content but it has enough to keep you busy and it feels very nice to play. Also the game designers have built a steam world that I would be proud to live in because it actually represents people of color! There are little brown people mixed in going about their daily lives. It is a world I would want to live in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lethis Should Be a Show or Comic, Not a Game Pros + The artwork is drawn well and beautifully coloured + The soundtrack is light and fun Cons - The UI is a broken mess. Before even launching, I had to look on the forums to find a fix, which required me going into the files and disabling fullscreen in the config. The game is now playable and this wouldn't be an issue if fullscreen weren't enabled by default. Text doesn't line up with buttons on most of the menus. This is usually annoying but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to play, pretty to look at and got a good campaign, what more to ask for.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this one. Though I will admit that after figuring out the perfect efficiency on building up my residential blocks, it became really easy for me. :) Still though I enjoyed the hell out of it... see my time playing it. I only didn't unlock one achievement because it's kind of silly... i may come back for it another time though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does remind me of the 90s Sierra games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game teaches you a bit and you have to figure out the rest. The rest is in oblivion. Map 5 : I guess not even the developer knows how to build a monument even though your population is fine, the supplies are fine, your industries are in set, and suddenly BOOM there's something you can't understand because you have to read a random wiki of it. I tried to build a monument, oh my god, I haven't screamed at my laptop so hard to figure out what was wrong. I played Pharaoh when I was 9 and it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was very excited for another city builder/management game in a very underpopulated and forgotten genre. Sadly this game starts out great but misses the mark. With so many concepts to draw from in Poseidon, Ceasar and Cleopatra for some reason the developers just kinda left them out. Game was still ok and then the UI glitches came at higher resolutions making the game unplayable. After trying many fixes I am stuck and unable to play as critical parts of the map has massive black blocks. So much…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →True to it's roots this game as all the key elements of an old sierra game : graphical incompatibility,no borderless-fullscreen,resolution glitches but it adds more to it by having sloppy UI. FFS THE DROPDOWN OF RESOLUTION SETTINGS HAS 3 AUTO OPTIONS (same name, same function) It takes what 10-20 min to fix it but aparently noone's paying attention to it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, quite a nice idea, sadly executed in a way that doesn't spark joy. There are a lot of boundary conditions which make you plan your city one specific way, it isn't quite creative and a bit of dull. Which is quite sad, cause it got potential. Though I have to agree with others, the right way to play is quite limited and to properly expand focus on slow steps and get taxes so you have positive income.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purchased this game because it is like Ceasar 3 which I played many years ago. Played this game just few hours only and it turned out is it entirely the same engine as Ceasar 3, didn't find any other change in mechanisms absolutely anything innovative! Maybe I would have liked this game at the times of Ceasar, but this game is released at 2015 when there are games like Cities Skylines, I would expect proper game mechanisms (e.g. layers/filters showing what find of impact would a building have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a modern, steampunk variation on Caesar III or Pharaoh or Zeus. Meaning that instead of designating plots of land as residential, commercial, or industrial zones, you set up the exact kinds of residential, commercial, or industrial concerns and then hook them up to a distribution network for the goods that they need or produce. For example, let's say you set down some barley farms. The barley they produce can be taken to an Abbey to be fermented into beer and then distributed to your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →animated by silly billies, praises communism and calls it progress, among other woke garbage in there
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is cute, has great graphics, I like the music. BUT is it really necessary to murder innocent fairies to make booze?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, the question here is... have you played one of the old pharaoh/zeus/caesar city builder games? If no, I'd say give it a shot, just don't expect it to be the regular style of city builder. This is NOTHING like the SimCity style gameplay... and to be honest, I wouldn't even know how to explain it, it's very unique. If yes, this game is that. Like, EXACTLY that. most of the negative reviews I read seem to have that as their main complaint. Outside a few changes and modern niceties, it's more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lethis Path of Progress: is an interesting city builder, but for me it felt like it just missed the mark. It has all of the features of a fun city builder but some parts feel just a little like they could have used a bit more tweaking. Pathing is a big part of the game, and sometimes there is no clear reason why there is a pathing problem. I had fun in the beginning missions, but got board after 5 hour total pay time which means the value to play time ratio didn't add up for me on this game.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mouse input lag issue is here, can not play with lagging mouse. Many people have the same problem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminiscent of other 2D isometric city-builders such as Sierra's Caesar, Pharaoh or Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, Lethis is a modern steampunk twist on an old favourite. The Good: From the music to the art style, everything in Lethis has this happy, charming quality that draws you in and makes playing it a joy. The controls, UI, tutorial and game progression are so simple and intuitive that even neophytes of city-building games can quickly learn the ropes and dive in. The Bad: It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game, but it is just a copy of so many before it with beautiful art that I couldn't get into it. I grew up playing those Sierra games, so this just felt like a repeat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am requesting a refund. For starters I had to change my monitor resolution to even get the game to show properly on my screen. Even then, whenever I press play the game would crash to my desktop. It's too bad, I really wanted to play this. Was not able to get a refund. Never got game to work properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another game for which I wish there was a middle-of-the-road option. TL, DR: if you have played one or two of the 2D city builder games from Sierra and want an update in a modern setting with some mythical elements, give this game a try; it's a great update. If you've played this style to death and want something fresh, this is not what you're looking for; it's at best a continuing refinement of the genre. Lastly, if you're new to this style of city building game, it's a toss-up; try CaesarIA…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible. The game is fine, but I've had to debug and repair c++ redistributables so many times. The game crashes randomly. And this last time, the game still refuses to launch. I've followed so many online instructions, reinstalled, launched in administration mode, etc., etc., etc. The game just isn't worth all this headache.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't work properly in Linux (Steam Deck/Proton). The map tiles don't render properly, just showing the starry UI interface background - so I could only run it for long enough to leave this review. Regardless of developer intention, games should be built properly so that emulation of this nature works. There's no excuse for poor workmanship, and issues like this are how you tell. Ever wonder why it's only "most" games that work under proton? It's because the people who make the others aren't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lethis – Path of Progress, developed and published by Triskell Interactive, is a charming and ambitious city-building game that aims to revive the spirit of classic management titles such as Caesar III, Pharaoh, and Zeus: Master of Olympus. What distinguishes it immediately is its unique setting—an alternate steampunk world where progress is powered by condensed steam rather than electricity. As the player, you assume the role of an imperial city planner responsible for expanding the industrial…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game could be easily fixed, just by NOT having seasonal workers. Each winter there's no workers on the farms, I have unemployment, whenever there's workers needed on the farms I don't have enough. The bigger the city the worse this issue becomes and I don't want to micromanage this twice a year. In this state it's just annoying and tidious to play and you are way better off with the old Impressions games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lethis - Path of progress was a surprise, i was looking for a simulation game that was chilling but fairly challenging, and this is what I found in it. Curated graphics, Caesar III-like gameplay but with game system's relevant improvements, it puts your management skills in proof and gives you a charming and relaxing experience to enjoy while city develops before your eyes. I'd not recommend this for the genre first players because of its peculiar dynamics that could be hard at first, but if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of the old Impressions style 2D isometric city-builders like Caesar 3, Pharaoh/Cleopatra, Zeus/Poseidon, and Emperor, then this one is for you. It's the Steampunk chapter they never thought to make. In terms of gameplay it very much helps to have a background in the old Impressions games, if only to give you a leg up and make for a smoother transition into this particular game. As with every new chapter though, playing the tutorial is a must if you want to understand this game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=store.steampowered.com/curator/39449455]Truth, Doubt or Lie - Steam Curator Intro The game is too simple and too easy. Yet, I have played it for almost 30 hours. Positive The game is fun, no doubt about that. The graphics are very nicely done. It has strangely good feeling to it - very pleasing to the eyes. The game is a relaxing experience with nice music. The whole atmosphere is great. That is basically what kept me playing it. It relaxed me because of it's simplicity. I did see…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The steampunk aesthetic is really fun and the storyline is interesting. Cute scroll-over text when you look at the individual workers and buildings. I like that the workers will revolt and burn down the town hall if you don't treat them right. There are only two major issues that make play annoying: 1) I would love to be able to turn entire industries on/off all at once. Having to individually disable every building of a type to divert the workforce elsewhere for awhile is infuriating.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are old enough to remember old-school city management games like Caesar III, Pharaoh, Zeus etc and looking for a modern version of them, you are at the right place. It has decent graphics, once you get the hang of it it becomes quite repetitive, it doesn't offer a challenging game-style, it has some small bugs, but apart from that it's good small game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to give a negative review at first, since as a veteran city-builder, I figured I could just wing it. But (honestly, I did buy this at a sale price), it IS a good game. It just has its own little rules that require some base information (and requires you to play the tutorial). The story is your basic Caesar 3 plot. Winning a mission requires you to "Do something", but usually is much more specific than "reach x amount of people" and "x ratings" - instead, get paid 20k a year in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a poorly coded mess. Sure it looks smooth and interesting, but even their tutorial can leave you stuck and unable to finish it, plus the mouse stops short of the bottom and right edges, meaning that the options button at the top right can sometimes be unreachable until you fiddle with your mouse pointer for a bit. This is crap, don't waste your time here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, I've really enjoyed the game. I've been hooked into it for a few days now, and I'm having a hard time putting it down. It's that fix I needed from all the time I've put into Pharaoh. It has a lot of charm and appeal to it. It looks great, and the music gets stuck in my head for days. The only aggravation I have with it is some of the UI stuff. I can't tell you how many time I've built something on accident because I was closing a message that popped up. Sometimes, the ESC key…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommending it but not full priced. It's a great game, really feels like the early days of Tropico rather than Sim City. The Steampunk style is assumed and works great for this kind of game. The only real issue would be the way the tutorial feels rushed and always got me wondering if i was doing things right, i learned faster by playing sandbox. Rest of the game is fine for what it is, i feel like it was more an artist making a game rather than a dev making an artistic game, and that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Much like the sierra city builder games such as Caesar III, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, Zeus. I primarily played Pharaoh but in comparison, I feel that there was more depth in Pharaoh compared to Lethis. Nonetheless, it is still a great game, grab it during a sale if you enjoy this style of city-builder.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game a lot. The graphics & artwork are really pretty. It's just the kind of city building/management that I was looking for, with a steampunk theme as a bonus!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little time waster, get it on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is exactly like Caesar 3 but with a different themed tile set and some tweaks to try and make the "walkers" easier to manage. If you enjoyed Caesar 3 from way back in the day, then you should enjoy this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Lethis. I struggled finding a townbuilding game that balances variety of possibility without becoming a fuster-cluck. This is it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you survive the tutorial, campaign is fun. Graphics style is beautiful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a fan of “walker” games like Caesar III and Zeus, you will like this game. If you are also into steampunk and industry related titles, you will love it. The game has unique art and is currently priced at the very affordable 1,99€ (Summer Sales 2019). The game can bring most players a good 50+ hours of fun times, with sandbox and optimizing layouts extending this to 100+ hours. If you are having troubles with something, just check the wiki! I, some other players and even some of…
