60 of 208 · most liked firstI absolutely LOVE that LAST NIGHT IN SOHO is Terence Stamp's last film. It's a great film, made by a director who admired him, a cast that felt lucky to work with him, for an audience that cherished getting to see him again. Few actors get that kind of swan song. And to share it w/Diana Rigg? Poetry

unlabelledView post →The winner is my friend who took a date to see Last Night in Soho because he thought it'd be like an Edgar Wright movie full of chintzy 60s aesthetics. Instead it's a very rough watch about the sexual exploitation of women snd the trauma it causes. His date never spoke to him again after it

unlabelledView post →To date, Wright has never made a film with an ending anything like King's Running Man. Not even Last Night in Soho. To be honest, I didn't think he has it in him. There's too much humor in his blood.

unlabelledView post →Diana Rigg passed away three years ago today. My favorite film of hers is THE ASSASSINATION BUREAU (1969, Basil Dearden). And it's comforting that her final film was also one of her best: LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021, Edgar Wright). Her timing and line delivery remained priceless.

He was also in a couple of Superman movies, playing the arch-villain "General Zod," as well as other memorable roles. More: alt text

unlabelledView post →I've watched so many movies, I'm pretty good at guessing the ending of most films partway into them. No spoilers ahead, but my wife and I just watched *Last Night in Soho* yesterday and I accidentally spoiled half of the ending, midway through. I didn't catch the twist ending, but I definitely saw the direction the story was headed. Also, when the main character was screaming accusations at the old guy, I was screaming at the screen, "Where's your proof? Why are you making assumptions all of a…

McKenzie is the one that impresses the hell out of me every time out, and here she's just as good as always. Sensual, stylish, sensitive, sweet, and sad. But STELLAR.

RIP Terence Stamp, une gueule taillée à la serpe et magnétisme rare la fin d'une époque
unlabelledView post →the movie NOSFERATU reminded me of Wright and LAST NIGHT IN SOHO, another example of a filmmaker finally consummating their cinematic obsession, yet revealing a bizarrely kinkless vision of their own material. too little of the frenzied eroticism of THE LIGHTHOUSE shows up here.
unlabelledView post →79. Last Night in Soho (2021). It's probably the most polarizing of Edgar Wright's films, but I adore this dark fairy tale and its hard look at the dangers of nostalgia. Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Matt Smith knock it out of the park, and that dance sequence is movie magic at its best.
unlabelledView post →So take that same mentality and mix it with action sequences that are a lot higher budget with some occasional Wright-isms…yeah it’s his worst movie but it’s still pretty okay. Like Last Night in SoHo, I see the problems, but I also had a fun time when I let it be visceral.

unlabelledView post →That was the same trip, hell same bestie's house, where I learned Baby Driver doesn't do it for me either. It's just Last Night in Soho. Somehow that's the only movie of his that spoke to me.
unlabelledView post →> Wright is coming off the worst-reviewed film of his career: 2021’s “Last Night in Soho.” Odd way to pitch it as his other movies are so strong, being the worst-reviewed has less weight. It's definitely not my favourite Wright film (Shaun of the Dead is) but it isn't a bad film.

unlabelledView post →Honestly my biggest problem with the film is that it could have been directed by anyone I'm one of the few people who dug Last Night in Soho but putting my feelings for the film to the side it feels like an Edgar Wright film. Running Man 2025 is fun but feels like it was directed by committee
unlabelledView post →Yeah, it really feels repetitive and it drags. Also, I don't think the film looks as visually interesting as the last one. The first film had Chung Chung-hoon as cinematographer and he also shot Oldboy, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, and Last Night in Soho. So yeah, his absence is felt.

unlabelledView post →It's going to sound crazy but after reading your comment about not wanting gore, the perfect movie might be the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original.) It's just super creepy throughout but with impressively little gore etc. Last Night in Soho is a mishmash of films but gorgeously shot with a sense of style, in some ways a love/hate letter to London in the 60s. And finally, a weird one that I really dug, It Ends. It's not at all like anything else. I saw it called a hang out horror which…

How about David Oyelowo and Anya Taylor-Joy as Steed and Peel? And let’s try very hard to forget the Fiennes and Thurman movie.

unlabelledView post →After having back-to-back flops with Last Night in Soho and The Running Man, I hope Wright reteams with Pegg. It doesn't need to be another Cornetto movie, but I think they push each other to be better.
unlabelledView post →Had an entire screen at Vue to myself last night. I wouldn’t have had it any other way! Watched @edgarwright.bsky.social’s Last Night in Soho. Late to the party on this but what a film! Beautiful shots of London, amazing recreation of the 60s and a cracking story to go with it.

Starring Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Terrance Stamp, and Rita Tushingham, it’s ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. Probably the best horror film I’ve seen - intelligent, frightening, and with a superb twist.

A movie named after a Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich song, a movie starring *melts into a puddle* Anya Taylor-Joy, a movie that’s ‘60s porn aaaaall over, and a movie about why you weren’t - in fact - born in the wrong generation.
