unlabelledView post →i heckin LOVE the movie LAST ACTION HERO and i stumbled upon a clip today that reminded me of this fact, and the fact that it was fairly poorly reviewed with a mixed reception. but mostly it just made me think 'oh dang this is probably why my horror writing is like this'

unlabelledView post →Carrie Fisher was an uncredited script doctor on many major films, including The Wedding Singer, Hook, Sister Act, Last Action Hero, and at least half of the main Star Wars series (including The Last Jedi) - because she was so good at dialogue. (BTW, Roald Dahl’s Bond movie was You Only Live Twice)

unlabelledView post →Back when i watched Last Action Hero (1993) for the first time my impression of it was pretty much fun film and then that detective whiskers really made it better but sadly he had little screen time on it.
unlabelledView post →Rest in peace Tom Noonan. Legitimately one of my favourite actors - I always smiled whenever he turned up randomly in stuff. Loved him in RoboCop 2, he made that film way more entertaining than it had any right to be. Also fantastic in Manhunter, Last Action Hero, The X-Files, The House of the Devil
unlabelledView post →@theabigailthorn.bsky.social's "Dracula's Ex-girlfriend" is absolutely brilliant. It's amazing how developed the world felt. I want to use the "Last Action Hero" magic ticket to enter the film and just walk around. It's also proof that "My Dinner With Andre" would have been better with vampires.
unlabelledView post →LAST ACTION HERO. 31 years after the premiere I have finally watched it. And let me tell you something, I haven't enjoyed a film this much in a long time. I would even go as far as to say this is an important post modern film, a reflection on genre
unlabelledView post →Last Action Hero. It's portal fantasy by way of action movie satire that is also structured around Hamlet. It's goofy and fun and then periodically pauses for an instant to go "this is kinda fucked up!" There's a cartoon cat cop in two scenes for the sake of a single joke.

unlabelledView post →I love little paradoxes like this, where a piece of media references another piece of media that shares one or more cast members. The movie “The Last Action Hero” even had some fun with it where they showed the Terminator as being played by Sylvester Stallone
unlabelledView post →“The Last Action Hero” had a scene where Tom Noonan as himself complains he only gets to play creeps, while earlier in the film he looked like this. That’s called having your cake and eating it too. RIP.
unlabelledView post →I continue to contend that Last Action Hero could have been a great film if they had the time to finish it properly, but they barely completed it before release, and it's essentially a very polished first cut.
unlabelledView post →Post a movie you like with a terrible Rotten Tomatoes score. I always thought The Last Action Hero was a tremendously fun and funny satire. I guess I'm just dumb 🤣👍
unlabelledView post →LAST ACTION HERO! I've gotten so much shit over the years for liking this movie, but it's so charming and is much smarter than people give it credit for, with how it parodies Hollywood Tropes of the time. Arnold is clearly having a blast, too.
