Critics, per Wikipedia
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 26% of 47 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 3.8/10. The website's consensus reads: "A subversion of gender roles that feels outdated upon arrival, Ladies First's topsy-turvy fantasy is too cloying to wring many laughs from the battle of the sexes." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 38 out of 100, based on 11 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable" reviews. Benjamin Lee of The Guardian gave the film 1/5 stars, describing it as "an excruciatingly unfunny high-concept thought experiment" and "a criminal waste of talent, a murderer's row of actors who hopefully got paid handsomely…

My problem with it is the same problem I had with the Barbie movie - it assumes that if women were in charge of society everything would be the same but reversed - that we would treat men the way (many) men treat us. Matriarchy would be way cooler than that.

I will, however, rewatch Alice Guy's 1906 film "Les Résultats du féminisme" which is about a world in which men and women swap places in the gender power hierarchy. Y'know, back when this idea was fresh & women were inventing the movies.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ladies First: 2026 Netflix starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike, about a male chauvinist who wakes up in a parallel world where women hold all the power, forcing him to confront his own sexism. Directed by Thea Sharrock, the film is a remake. 12/10 and bonus for 💯 accuracy & irony.

Trying to get another TV show going (tough out there, wish me luck) 4. 5 or 6 more things, hoping something will pop...the writer's life!
neutral · AI labelView post →Netflix comedy Ladies First feels painfully out of date; a sexist CEO (Sasha Baron Cohen) gets a taste of his own medicine when he bangs his head and wakes up in a world where women call the shots; it's The Two Ronnies The Worm That Turned but for 2026. 2 out of 5 film-authority.com/2026/05/23/l...
neutral · AI labelView post →I can't tell if the fact they made the movie Ladies First, a stale comedy about a misogynist CEO who hits his head and wakes up in a woman-dominated world, is a sign we're still fighting patriarchy despite the fascist counter-reaction or if we're regressing to 2000s era cultural politics around it
neutral · AI labelView post →Miserable week for comedies. I like Eric Andre and John Cena but it needed a joke every 20 seconds and you're lucky to get one every 20 minutes. Ladies First looks like trash, which is fitting for a trash film #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday

negative · AI labelView post →I can't recall who recommended the movie "Ladies First" on Netflix but thank you. I love this kind of film. I love romantic comedies, redemption stories and movies with protagonists who are 50 or above. We don't have enough films with any of those things. I really enjoyed this film.

negative · AI labelView post →I’m watching a movie called Ladies First. A misogynist CEO ends up in a world dominated by women. It is beyond annoying though because the creator (sacha Baran Cohen) decided to have the women just do all the awful things men supposedly do. It is so shallow and juvenile. Do not recommend.
negative · AI labelView post →If anyone is feeling alone or want to watch just cause, I am about to start a Netflix movie if you want to join. Ladies First. Start when you see this
neutral · AI labelView post →I also used my review of LADIES FIRST to ponder the strange, fundamentally mixed messages in movies where flawed men learn they're not the center of the universe, but only through magical interventions which prove, on some level, that the universe thinks those men are uniquely important.

neutral · AI labelView post →Just saw the trailer for the “Ladies First” movie on netflix. Why do men think a matriarchy would be as harmful and violent as the patriarchy? We literally have evidence that it isn’t true. It’s fucking 2026 this is embarrassing for you.

neutral · AI labelView post →there's a new film with rosmund pike and sascha cohen called Ladies First, the ad looks a bit naff but I note it is based on a French film called, I am not an Easy Man, which is on Netfix, and as a rule remakes of deeply satirical French comedy is hit and miss at best, might be worth a crack :)
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching the movie “Ladies First.” I am amused by an alternate reality where women run everything, but I know that if women were actually in charge, we wouldn’t waste our time on the same insipid crap that toxic dudes find necessary to prove themselves.
neutral · AI labelView post →The first trailer for ‘LADIES FIRST’, a new satire film starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike, has been released. It follows a man whose life becomes his worst nightmare when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women and is set for release on Netflix on May 22. #LadiesFirst
neutral · AI labelView post →This is from a movie! The latest Sascha Baron Cohen (Borat, Ali G) movie: Ladies First. It's about a misogynistic corporate prick who walks against a lamp pole and gets into a world where the roles between women and men are switched. Don't look at the online ratings, they have been fucked by conservative assholes and the manosphere, it's actually a good movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Thea Sharrock's LADIES FIRST is a (quasi-)rom-com based on a French comedy that was, itself, based on a harrowing short horror film. It poses many questions about institutionalized misogyny and the unexplored sexism of mainstream comedies. But sadly, it's not funny. My review is at @thewrap.com!

negative · AI labelView post →I watched 'Ladies First' but only in the way you can't look away from an unfolding tragedy, when everything goes into slow motion, meaning I probably wasted even more of my life than the 90 mins run time. Despite the girlboss hashtag femininity is ridiculed in this film & therefore women.

I didn't realize how much our world, my daily life, is affected by control and the threat of violence. We all need to imagine a better world and help bring it to life.

The reason why I haven't yet is that it's always been with romantic movies. What's this movie about?! 😭

neutral · AI labelView post →This is just a superb, insightful, thread. It makes me think of the Sacha Baron Cohen film “Ladies First” (originally a French film called Not An Easy Man) in which SBC wakes up in a world entirely devoted to women. Incredible experience even just watching it. A world that caters to women? Wonderful
positive · AI labelView post →Ditto. Highly recommend watching the movie Ladies First. Is shows societal misogyny for the reverse perspective and it's significant to see behaviour in reverse, plus it's hysterical.
positive · AI labelView post →Sad but true. Movie on Netflix that shows a world where the opposite is true called "Ladies First". A world would be nice but I'd settle for just a female dominated city with no men inside it. Call it Sanctuary.
