positive · AI labelView post →Here's my Odyssey review. It's about Jason and the Argonauts. joelmorris.substack.com/p/jason-and-...
neutral · AI labelView post →If The Odyssey does well they should make another Jason and the Argonauts movie and give it to Denis Villeneuve but only if he includes Bubo.
unlabelledView post →We also got the ten year old A24’s book of movie ideas for kids to help her come up with ideas too. (It’s seriously great) We’ve watched Godzilla movies, Sixth Sense, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Joe vs the Volcano, Kurosawa’s Dreams, My Life as a Courgette, Brazil, Jason and the Argonauts, so much good stuff

neutral · AI labelView post →Jason And The Argonauts (1963) is a tokusatsu film
neutral · AI labelView post →“It’s basically Jason and the Argonauts, but wherever you see it, it will be in the wrong ratio and you can tut.” MY DREAM FILM!
neutral · AI labelView post →Jason and the Argonauts (1963) is a breathtaking movie featuring some of the greatest monster movie effects of all time. Talos the bronze statue is going to live rent free in my head for a long time! letterboxd.com/bisexualkaij...
positive · AI labelView post →Well I've had a lovely morning catching up with some old friends. 😮 Those who know me well will understand just how exciting this was! Thanks to The Arc in Winchester for sharing with us the artwork of legendary film-maker & animator Ray Harryhausen. #RayHarryhausen #Animation #Jasonandtheargonauts
neutral · AI labelView post →Issue 21 of my newsletter, This, Not That, is out! It covers the Aeneid, the Harryhausen film of Jason and the Argonauts, the Sirens from O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and (bonus book rec!) Zachary Mason’s The Lost Books of the Odyssey.
neutral · AI labelView post →Funnily enough I was watching Jason and the Argonauts last week fir the first time in years and thought Nancy Kovak as Medea gave off very strong “alien about to be seduced by Kirk” vibes
neutral · AI labelView post →the Argonauts technically fucked off into the sea MID STORY! there is so much left out of the Argonauts story, tis makes it a truly successful Monsterdon movie. well done gang! #Monsterdon #JasonAndTheArgonauts

neutral · AI labelView post →Jason and the Argonauts is on Film 4 right now. Love it, seen it many times but wonder about the ending. They have the fight with the skeletons and sail off, but the main plot concerning Pelias is not resolved. It just ends. Were they expecting a sequel that never got made?
neutral · AI labelView post →And so decades of skeleton warriors in movies, cartoons, and in toy form were birthed from this one scene. #Monsterdon #JasonandtheArgonauts
neutral · AI labelView post →Guess what there’s a new @classicfilmjerks.bsky.social This month Jeff and I get sweaty and join the crew of the Argo on a go-motion filled journey as we watched 1963's Jason and the Argonauts. Get onboard for a boat full of fun. classicfilmjerks.libsyn.com/jason-and-th...
neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah, I just saw "The Odyssey" in an iMax cinema... it wasn't significantly more impressive, technologically, than the 1963 "Jason and the Argonauts".
positive · AI labelView post →I remember being very young (early '90s), and asking for it at my local video rental store. The owner was like "you wanna watch Jason and the Argonauts?!". I told him I had just seen Clash of the Titans, and heard about the Argonauts movie. Got that Harryhausen bug, early.
neutral · AI labelView post →Odyssey shcmodyssey! Here's a real classic for Movie Monday. Jason and the Argonauts. #Harryhausen #Mythology #Fantasy #FilmReview open.spotify.com/episode/7z17...
neutral · AI labelView post →Well it was good but very different than what I expected. Not an action adventure movie like Jason and the Argonauts, not a war epic like Troy or a fantasy film like Clash of the Titans. In parts it's a survival, part supernatural horror; overall it's a man's odyssey. Reminds me most of Green Knight
neutral · AI labelView post →there is no better combat scene in movie history than Jason and the Argonauts vs Hydra’s skeletons. yes, even better than Luke vs Vader. #Monsterdon #JasonAndTheArgonauts
positive · AI labelView post →Jason and the Argonauts. My favourite film of all time.
positive · AI labelView post →Who do we cast in a glossy Ocean's 11 style Jason and the Argonauts movie?
neutral · AI labelView post →Home from work and going to chill out to some Greek mythology via Jason and the Argonauts. Argonauts. Among other things, that name primarily reminds me of the Micronauts, whose animated feature film I hope to one day be watching as well. 👊🤓-Arcturus and the Micronauts has a nice ring to it.
neutral · AI labelView post →Finished! I think Went The Day Well challenges Jason and the Argonauts for speed between “best bit happening” and “film being over”. Zero fucking about.
positive · AI labelView post →Remembered that in Jason and the Argonauts (the film) they dubbed over the guy playing Jason because he didn't sound British enough(!?).
neutral · AI labelView post →I jest - I really thought it was an excellent film. 4.5 stars from me. Clearly Christopher Nolan watched Jason and the Argonauts as a kid and wanted to do an epic Greek myth film
positive · AI labelView post →"Jason and the Argonauts is such a great film. Jason and Medea deserve a wonderful life together". Me:
neutral · AI labelView post →Name a film you watched at a drive-in. Double Feature with Jason and the Argonauts
neutral · AI labelView post →The background is a reference to a scene from Jason and the Argonauts (1963). A movie I was obsessed with as a child.
neutral · AI labelView post →thought the film was great though. lit nerds already cheapen the epic when they invoke it as a source material to be faithfully respected, and they ignore the pleasure of watching our greatest blockbuster director do 'Jason and the Argonauts' (1963)
positive · AI labelView post →Caught #TheOdyssey down at Brentford Everyman yesterday. As a kid, my favourite films were the ones that brought Greek mythology to life. Jason and the Argonauts, the original Clash of the Titans. No film has ever recaptured that magic, until now. An absolute masterpiece.
neutral · AI labelView post →I don't think I've sat so still for a movie in a long time but damn The Odyssey was a fantastic watch. Damn if he did Jason and the Argonauts-! Also, if you watch Troy (with Brad Pitt) then this, they're basically one long movie with a (positive) identity crisis and cast change halfway through.
neutral · AI labelView post →The presence of another DVD in Ueda's shelf also confirms that he drew inspiration - as had been long suspected - from the 1963 Don Chaffey movie Jason and the Argonauts; particularly this giant statue battle scene, one of Ray Harryhausen's finest works: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8goV...
neutral · AI labelView post →Ladies and gentlemen: the greatest film sword fight of all time! Jason and the Argonauts would be a close second with the iconic skeleton fight. #TheAdventuresOfRobinHood #TCMParty
neutral · AI labelView post →Nearly went to see the Odyssey yesterday but not sure I am up to nearly 3 hours sat in a cinema at the minute. Most I have managed recently was Bulk and that’s a tight 90. Sure I will see it eventually but in the meantime Jason and the Argonauts is back on Film 4 this morning

neutral · AI labelView post →Dinner movie tonight is Jason and the Argonauts (1963). I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, I don’t know how many times I made my parents rent it for me 📽️
positive · AI labelView post →I would very much watch a "I'm assembling a team" heist movie-inspired Jason and the Argonauts adaptation.
neutral · AI labelView post →movies without a Naired man’s chest are a delight #Monsterdon #JasonAndTheArgonauts
neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah. Lovecraft was one of the popular authors the creators of D&D had read. Sci-fi, fantasy, horror etc genres did not have tons of superstars in the 70s, so a lot of people were reading the same books/authors. It's similar to how everyone had seen movies like Jason and the Argonauts. Lovecraft was writing back in the 30's, the same era of early Conan etc, but had become much more popular by the 70s.

neutral · AI labelView post →>If anything, I don't know what "realism" is supposed to mean. What is more realistic? Yakuza because it does these harsh, photo-based textures meant to highlight all the pores or, say, a Pixar movie where everything is built on this insanely accurate light transfer, path traced simulation? The former is *more* realistic, but not for that reason. The lighting techniques are techniques, not a style. Realism is trying to recreate the look of the real world. Pixar is not doing that. They're using…

positive · AI labelView post →I decided to write about the Jason and the Argonauts film for my newsletter last weekend before I realized it was playing here this weekend. Fun to see it with a crowd.
positive · AI labelView post →Loved Jason and the Argonauts I remember the film Ulysses from my Childhood didn’t realise till I went to Ithaca that it was the Roman name for Odysseus
positive · AI labelView post →I love Jason and the Argonauts, that was prime Saturday afternoon movie viewing
positive · AI labelView post →Best made up history film ever , Jason and the Argonauts, obviously. Second best, Carry on Cleo, I shall not be taking questions.
positive · AI labelView post →Watching the 1963 film, ‘Jason and the Argonauts’, with all the wonderful Ray Harryhousen stop-motion special effects.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Jason and the Argonauts last night for probably the tenth time and goddam this movie still kicks ass
positive · AI labelView post →Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie: Six dire actors and Windows 95 FX is not enough to stop this being a mostly ludicrous, surreal treat. Touches of Princess Bride, Jason and the Argonauts filtered through a campy 60s Batman vibe. Disposable but I laughed throughout. The studio sets are great.
neutral · AI labelView post →He’s great. He also gives us one of the most famous episodes in Greek myth of sowing the snake’s teeth that produce earth born warriors, immortalised (in a different story) by Ray Harryhausen in Jason and the Argonauts (obviously the best movie of a myth ever; Odyssey nowhere near it).
neutral · AI labelView post →One of my nicest memories is taking dad to the Watershed in Bristol for a talk/interview Ray Harryhausen gave, with lots of film clips - and towards the end he got out one of the original Jason and the Argonauts skeletons to show the audience - he'd made a coffin to store it in!
neutral · AI labelView post →I remember this scene terrifying me as a kid, it was so realistic. I've seen Jason and the Argonauts numerous times over the years since and am amazed how well the special effects still hold up. ❤️ that movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Jason and the Argonauts (Don Chaffey, 1963, Eye Filmmuseum) NL: www.moviemeter.nl/film/3891#53... Ray Harryhausen's special effects are canon. Also: lots of color. Remember when films were in color? Could have done with a better Jason. 📽️ #filmsky #cinema #film
