I'd say that nostalgia is not required, but it's an old school adventure game, so be prepared for that. When I played this as a kid, I had to clean up my PC because I had not enough free space. I deleted a folder with the funny name "Windows" ... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3035834253 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3019930823…

But otherwise, it is a really good story of a private eye, who got into a difficult situation and has to clear his name. You will be with him for 48 hours, doing so and hopefully avoid being convicted for murder or just die by accident on the way - I loved it ! Manual saves plus a good autosave Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game saved my life. I am 43. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiralling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and…

And Romans worked on it too. The sheer brilliance of this game's writing cannot simply be understood by the common man. You need to leave your mind, body & soul behind and put yourself in the shoes of Jarosław Parchański (the Swedish writer of this gem). It takes a lot of courage to make a video game about prohibition era…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Orlando is a great classic Point & Click adventure, that was done by a small polish studio back in 1997. Before you buy this game, you should consider, that this game was made for Windows 98 and back then there wasn't any x64 OSes, Multicores or big amounts of RAM. So, if you don't know how to run a x86 32 Bit System on your original Operating System, you should reconsider buying it. This game CRASHES on 64 Bit systems (Linux not included, since wine runs on 32Bit). If you love detective…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is average at it's best. It has quite beautiful hand drawn backgrounds, some of them animated, sometimes someone just walks past or car drives by, the city just feels alive. Characters are worse, especially the close-ups during dialogues look very crude. Cutscenes are the worst, they look crude just like the close-ups and the style and colour palette are like from a kiddie cartoon. Voice acting is really bad, sound effects sound sometimes very artificial and there are some bugs as…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As i have nearly 200 hours into this game i am kinda hooked even trying to speedrun it at points i recommend this game but you just need to play it more to actually like it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dialogue feels like someone ran a noir script through a blender and taped it back together where the voice acting ranges from bored phone operator to local theater’s first rehearsal. Pixel hunting is less a mechanic here and more a cruel form of punishment, overall It’s not so much Director’s Cut as it is Director’s Regret.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Orlando: Director's Cut is simply a confusing and uninspired point & click. Not recommended
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The movement capture and the lively animation really surprised me. After double checking I read the game was released in 2012, yet it holds up well to today’s standards. The full audio support and absolutely stunning soundtrack stand out, honestly, I could just stay and listen to the saxophone. Before I get into the gameplay, I want to congratulate the dev team on the superb motion capture. They did a really neat job. For instance, when Jack climbs a ladder, you can see him struggling and then…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Orlando: Director’s Cut, developed by Toontraxx Studios and published by Topware Interactive, is a vintage point-and-click adventure that exudes the smoky atmosphere and moral ambiguity of a classic 1930s noir. Set in a world of crime, corruption, and forgotten heroes, it follows the titular private detective, Jack Orlando—a down-on-his-luck investigator framed for murder—through a desperate forty-eight-hour search to clear his name. The game seeks to channel the style of golden-age…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is barely held together. The only way you can play it in the windowed mode is to use Dxwnd with default settings. That way it won't take the whole system with it when it hangs. The built-in windowed mode is disabled. It is extremely risky to run these games in fullscreen mode because Win10+ has weird bugs involving that stuff. The game looks pretty so-so. I got stuck in the first conversation loop in the cell. And it ended by the game crashing mid-sentence.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lush artwork, Relaxing music and the solid plot are the strong points about this game but the badly designed puzzles are underwhelming.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, shucks, this game sucks. Jack Orlando:Director's Cut is buggy, low quality, often nonsensical or illogical and the characters are all over the place. It was surely supposed to be very classic style Film Noir and Private Eye adventure, but I couldn't bring myself to finishing it, even though I really like the forementioned genres in films, games and literature.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing literally the best game i ever played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheaply made point-and-clicker with bad script and even worse voice acting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this as a kid and got stuck. 20 years later, I'm still stuck. 10/10 nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Similar to what others have been saying, i just couldnt complete the game. I tried to do it without a guide and it got way to needlessly confusing. Your a detective, your supposed to chase leads, i get that, but they dont even tell me where the store is that i need to find to show the guy the cigarette. -That and the clunky controls and gui are a nightmare. -Also, the voice acting is abysmal, characters are heavily stereotyped, and the main detective has some kind of "douche" voice lines. +…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game absolutely bricked my computer. It crashed like 2 times during the introduction to the game. I was not even able to leave the jail cell scene and my ♥♥♥♥ was ruined. I couldn't open up any vital windows programs or uninstall this game without it being a headache. Currently running a gtx 4070 (no this is not a joke). If anyone else encounters this please update your graphics card drivers and uninstall the game and resart your P.C. ♥♥♥♥ you Jack, you ruined my Christmas Eve.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This classic point-and-click adventure game will keep you guessing for hours. Jack Orlando Director's Cut offers great visuals, an engaging story, and puzzles that will challenge even the most experienced players. The game has been lovingly remastered with improved graphics, more puzzles, and more dynamic gameplay. If you're a fan of adventure games, you won't want to miss this gem. Highly recommended!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dunno how to comment, it's a childish cartoon with a dialogue tree.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have really fond memories of this game. The original Jack Orlando was one of the first point-and-click games that I have ever played. It has a really great noir type 30s atmosphere with amazing jazzy music. The story fits the game very well but can be confusing at times. The puzzles are really difficult and sometimes confusing. The german voice acting is very campy but overall not as bad as the english one seems to be.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Orlando Director's Cut is a classic point-and-click adventure that takes you back to the prohibition era of 1933 America. The hand-drawn art style gives the game a unique comic-book aesthetic that perfectly complements its noir atmosphere. The story follows detective Jack Orlando as he has 48 hours to clear his name from a murder accusation, creating a compelling mystery to unravel. Puzzles are well-designed with logical solutions, though some can be quite challenging and require careful…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The animation and music is pretty good and sets the noir ambiance. However, the rest of the game is just not working out. Stupid gameplay mechanics, illogical puzzles, insane number of useless items and useless (although sometimes funny) dialog conversations and mediocre story have rendered this game as unplayable and annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty ♥♥♥♥ game, but i got it for free!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if i didn't buy this horrible game that i bought simply because disco elysium was that good. well as i was saying... before i got abruptly interrupted by a god tier game known as disco elysium. but as i been trying to say. if it wasn't for this game. games like disco elysium, and blacksad wouldn't exist. and for that, i love this game. as for a review on the game. don't expect anything great from a 1997 point and click game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is hilariously bad. It hardly gives you any idea as to what you're supposed to do to progress the plot so you're left aimlessly walking around the town until you stumble across something that resembles a next step. At least the music is alright.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frustrating gameplay and a pace that made getting through it feel like work. I can appreciate what it was going for, but actually playing it wasn’t much fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it first when i was about 11 years old. Giving me back some good memories, loving the soundtrack, the joy just a nice game, a short game, but one of those point and click adventures that give me a good feeling.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: 8.6/10 Jack Orlando: Director's Cut is a classic point-and-click detective adventure that combines a dark film-noir atmosphere with a gripping mystery set during the American Prohibition era. With hand-drawn visuals, a jazz-inspired soundtrack, and a story full of crime, secrets, and investigation, it delivers a nostalgic adventure experience for fans of classic games. While some mechanics show their age, the unique atmosphere and detective theme make it a memorable hidden gem.
