Inquisitor really shines with its '90s CRPG nostalgia goodness, but delivers a frustrating experience in certain key areas. For TLDR, skip to section below for Final Judgement. The Blessings - Dark and mature storyline. There aren't any jump-scares of course but some of the things the antagonists do/say can really give you the creeps. - Background and lore. There is a nicely developed history to this world that…

unlabelledView post →Good RPG with amazing writing, dialogs are long and interesting and the atmosphere is dark and intriguing. Fighting is in action-rpg style, but exept that it's an old-school cRPG. And the world of Inquisitor is much more realistic than of those AAA games like Mass Effect, Fallout or Dragon Age. There's no such things as sassy gay elves, exaggerated tolerance or artificial gender equality. This game is harsh, cruel and realictic even if events it depicts is not real. This game is an absolute…

In this review, I’ll briefly analyze what’s wrong with it and share some tips on how to play so that it doesn’t turn into outright torture. (Get it? Torture! Inquisitor! Ha-ha!) The Core Issues The main problem with Inquisitor is that many good ideas and features are undermined by clumsy and poorly executed mechanics. Here’s what the game offers: - A solid storyline,…

More than that, this is the number one most underrated game of all the underrated games I know, and I know many of them. You're an inquisitor, and not just in name. You have a job of actually burning people at the stake in a world of spiritual and moral decadence, in a time when scourges are falling from the sky and demons are materializing in…

It has a major plus in its writing. Seriously, whoever wrote the dialogue in this game should get a medal. The dialogue is huge, detailed, interesting, and responsive. Talking to characters is consistently interesting. There is an engaging overarching plot as well. BUT, everything else is wrong. The controls, the combat…

unlabelledView post →It's text heavy, slow paced, and has some crunchy retro graphics but if you don't mind all that then you might like this game if you enjoyed isometric games like Diablo or Path of Exile.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wonder how successful Inquisitor would have been as a game if it had used 28mm scale, so that players had a really big range of minis and bits to work with right from the start. Customization and conversion was such a huge focus of the game, after all.

unlabelledView post →Inquisitor is an excellent game. It has its flaws but it has abundant strengths. There is some truth to elements of the negative reviews -- it's complex, it is difficult, it doesn't have state of the art graphics, it doesn't have redundant randomly generated 'levels' that developers are trying to pass off as a quality world, or randomly generated loot composed of mad-libs descriptions whose creation clearly lacked conscious thought, it doesn't have many of the "features" of modern RPGs, like…

unlabelledView post →RPG elements are interesting and fun - dialogues, quests, story. However, most of the game is just running around killing things and that is no fun. Therefore I don't recommend this game unless you're a great fan of Diablo. Too bad the developers decided to make it mostly hack'n slash, because if there was no combat or just little of it, then it could be a really wonderful game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brutal, Remorseless, Fun? I've never made it past the first town in Inquisitor, though I've got incredibly close on my last try: it's brutal combat and need to scoff health potions in ridiculous amounts after every single fight make it at times a grind. But having begun to play it again, I realized why I made it that far in the first place. The terrifying, austere soundtrack of a medieval world drenched in Biblical themes, coupled with the grim graphics and amazing writing which sells the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a serious, demanding and unforgiving game with a unique setting and a dark atmosphere. Tedious, frustrating and almost unbearable at the beginning, but enjoyable, rewarding and immersive from the middle to the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having mixed feelings towards this game. It's not that it's a bad one. Just not well-made. From the creators of the dark, atmospheric, story-driven albeit a bit clumsy adventure Daemonica comes a dark, atmospheric, story-driven Inquisitor… but the RPG part and the duration made the whole clumsiness part exaggerated. Delve deep into the tedium of 1. pixelhunting! 2. stacking on bottles like a hobo junkie 3. collecting scalps 4. lengthy monotonous conversations 5. reeeeally slow walking 6.…

unlabelledView post →Pros + Good worldbuilding. All the buildings, people, equipment, and lore feel like a Medieval fantasy world. Neutral ~ RPG leveling and chaarcter equipment. Cons - Combat is awful. All you do is click on an enemy and drink potions until they die. - Quests are all listed on one page rather than being seperated by quest so it can be difficult to find the relevant information. - No quest markers and quests can be broken if you talk to people out of order. - Once you get poisoned the only thing…

unlabelledView post →This game is absolutely fantastic. I can't believe it has had so little attention on YouTube. The storytelling is top notch. If you don't need cutting edge graphics but enjoy a great story, lots of well written dialogue and a dark, adult environment, then this is your game. It's also not an easy game so for those who like some challenge, it won't disappoint. Enjoy, your welcome!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, just has a few weird design choices. I would highly recommend playing on easy difficulty unless you want to play for like 2-300 hours. Don't feel bad about having to use cheats to give yourself gold every now and then. You have to buy an enormous amount of potions very often and can barely find the gold to cover the price for them alone. The game will go by much more smoothly if you allow yourself some slack when it comes to cheats. I try to never use them for all games I play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs abandoned this unfinished indie game. its sad, this game is so beautiful. Pros: -Great writing and plot, very well researched and applied -Great art helps set the tone. Cons: -Combat is awful -No UI scaling, so if you play 4k all is gonna be tiny. also the game will be too zoomed out, you cant zoom in. -No QoL updates or changes. -Its a good diablo clone only on the visuals, the combat, movement and enemies themselves arent that interesting. BUT OMG the first town is great, loved…
