One of the better parkour-esque games on steam at the moment. I'm pretty nuts for these speedy parkour games and this one is definitely in my top 3. Some levels were a challenge for me so if you are a casual player prepare to practice some levels quite a few times. As stated in other reviews, the voice acting and story is pretty lackluster but you can ignore it as the game itself is solid. A must-have for any competitive player that enjoys "parkour" games.

If you want to play this game at some point you will have this experience. You will reach a checkpoint, and in front of you is a series of jumps which is extremely difficult. Everything about it is exactly the same as a jump section you've already done 10 times except gradually it's been made to require more precision inch by inch. You try, you die and then hear a snip of an off the street voice actor insulting you as you mash the respawn button to cut it off and try again. Die > 'A vacuum…

First person puzzle platformer in the vein of Portal like games. You can shoot force fields which speeds up time or slow it down. You can utilize it to get pass certain obstacles. A lot of platforming and some reflex based skills are necessary. Gameplay is solid and offers something new. Each level have performance rating so getting that S rating might be difficult. Visuals are your typical lab testing facility, simple yet reliable. Voice acting is bearable. Music and sounds are ok. For such a…

I'm usually decent at 3D platformers and shooters, but the controls / mechanics for this game just felt.. off.. They "mock" you every time you die, and you'll die, a lot. There's no option to turn it down or even off, and even if you mute it's still there in subtitles. I get that it's meant to be a fun kind of portal esque humor thing, but it just comes off as incredibly annoying, when you're already frustrated with yourself.

I really enjoyed my time playing Impulsion, and i'm not done yet, i will definetly keep coming back to it to improve my times. The gameplay is good, graphics are simple but great, overall the levels are well crafted. The soundtrack is quite good if you like dnb / electronic music. The game will take you few minutes to figure out how to play it well, but once you will have mastered it you will have a great time playing. Few things i don't like: Archie, the voice over announcer, he is so…

I already reviewed the game but I figured I redo it. Should you get this game? Yes. Is it fun? Yes. Does it have flaws? Yes. What works: Combining fast-paced platforming with fast-paced aiming was brilliant. The best parts of my two favorite genres. The forcefield gun is really innovative and fresh, like portal, it's one of those mechanics where, when you play the game, you wonder why nobody had ever thought of it until now You control the pacing, if you want to rush in, die, and rush in…

Impulsion is an odd game, that occupies quite the peculiar niche in terms of gaming. The first thing that is important to note before considering picking up Impulsion is that the game is NOT a puzzle game, despite it's aesthetic and game mechanics relating very similar to those of Portal and Antichamber, Impulsion functions more as a challenging first person shooter experience, in no way does this game involve solving puzzles. The second thing, Impulsion is crafted by hand, inside out, to be…

First Person Sadism Impulsion is undoubtedly a game that will appeal to certain gamers, but even those it appeals to will find certain mechanics of this game to be hard pills to swallow. Impulsion is a first person speed running game. Your goal is always to get from one end of a level to the other as quickly as possible, but there is no penalty for going slowly other than a low grade, which makes the skill floor relatively low and the ceiling awfuly high. The gimmick that sets this game…

An excellent 3D platformer that will test both your jumping and aiming ability. The game consists of 25 levels that steadily increase in difficulty, with the aim being to get to the end of the level as quickly as possible. You use a pair of guns that spawn force fields, one speeding up your movement and the other slowing you down. The basic of the game is - will you take risks and leap before you look? Or will you consider your movements more carefully? Your recklessness or lack thereof will…

What is it? In simple words, a 3d platfromer You just a simple task, get through the level and survive. Technial The graphics are very good. You wont find many tiny dietails. It is a fast paced platformer and the mechanics are quite well and visually addressed. The few sounds that are needed are of quality and the speaker and your characters voice are fitting. Game There is a story in the game, but as far as i am concerned it is only there to give a little meaning to my you play this game. It…

Terribly uninspired and cringe inducing presentation(good god that dialogue and voice acting) but the gameplay can be fun and rewarding. I dunno. In a world where Portal exists why would anyone need this type of kinetic puzzle experience afterwards even if the gameplay is decent here. Would give it a mixed rating, but sadly the rating system is binary so I'll go with-not worth it for most people/10

Yeahhh, no. One thing is a game being difficult. Another is the blob and the body hitbox being broken, driving a player into frustration by dying because of broken hitboxes over and over again. If you are really looking for a challenge and an unbroken game, buy Super Hexagon. Is cheaper, more rewarding and fun.

I've never had so much anger towards a game while not actually being mad until I played Impulsion. The feeling of finally getting past an obstacle only to die a few seconds later staring at the finish is a weird yet positive feeling. I'm mad at myself, not the game. Attempting the same level over and over while understanding more and progressiving further is what makes Impulsion so satisfying. Impulsion is the type of game to see how good you can get at it. The whole premise of the game is…

Obnoxious narrator never shuts up, insulting you every time you die and repeats his voice lines every time you reset level. Very obnoxious aiming where you have to full sprinting shoot a large bubble so that it only overlaps with one of the two objects in a small hallway. Can't see where death lasers are as you're jumping over them so distance judging is imprecise. Game has worst speed mechanic I've ever seen where you just have to constantly left click spam blue "speed up" bubbles at your feet…

yeah, it was pretty good. but it's not really meant to be played as a casual single player campaign, it's meant to be played in competitive speedruns. If speedruns are not your thing (like me) then this is still a nice experimental game to experience once. The tricks are limited and get a bit old across the 25 levels. But as long as you treat it as a short indie FPS to discover or like a small game to speedrun, and don't expect too much you'll enjoy this! I completed it in 2 hours.

Impulsion is a great first-person platformer. The futuristic graphics are nice and the controls are easy and work fluently (which is very important for a fast-paced platformer). In addition, you got 2 guns. I recommend this game to everyone that loves speed running. The game is short and contains 25 levels which…

If Portal had a son and banned the son from using portals at all, that would be this game. Super fun to speedrun and go for records, although replayability is slightly limited. It was pretty fun until I got stuck on level 10. It's NOT the games' fault for me not being able to get passed it but it did prove to be too frustrating for me. which is funny due to the fact that I LOVE skill based movement in video games. This game though I just can't seem to wrap my heard around the movement. I couldn't seem to understand what I was doing wrong at all on level 10. This is a fantastic first person platformer. The mechanics are interesting and arena-shooter-like movement feels really good. Speed and air control are pretty much on point. The control scheme is also very much to my liking with only LMB, RMB and Space next to WASD. It can get tricky towards the end of the campaign, but this game is meant to be replayed anyway to beat your own and also other people's records. Impulsion is one of those more difficult games to review because it does some things pretty well... and others not so great. It's made even harder because it's also ancient... this is 8 years old, and worse, the developers haven't maintained it... not a single patch in over 7 years. This is a Portal-esque first person 3D platformer, and yeah, you're in a lab with a robot voice telling you what to do... and one of the first things you'll notice is how poor and lulzy the voice acting and…

Well-designed levels with some fun mechanics. It gets difficult but never impossibly hard. The final level is a bit more difficult compared to all the others, since those have checkpoints, but it's manageable. Took about an hour to complete and a bit longer to go back and get some achievements. Would've loved a few more levels, especially for the asking price.

Jokes aside, Impulsion is an incredible fast-paced platformer (of the likes of Ghostrunner) that takes quite a few cues from Portal, including its physics based puzzles as well as the setup itself (just don't expect any of Portal's trademark wit/humor or even any plot) and creates something amazing that will have you hooked from the start. A fast-paced puzzle platformer that doesn't overstay its welcome, Impulsion has a bit of a steep learning curve, but flows effortlessly once you get a feel for its mechanics. Though the levels can often be finished in a more relaxed pace if you want, chasing high-scores and a better rank on the leaderboard is a lot of fun. Really fun parkour/platforming game with a super unique movement system. Definitely worth the money while it's on sale. The only issue I have is the the game seems to miss button presses sometimes, so I have to stand still and press right click several times for the game to actually register my input and shoot the red gun. This can be super frustrating, especially towards the end of a level. Overall I give it a 7.5/10. If the input detection gets fixed 8.5/10.

Quick score: 5/5 Notes: Pretty fun FPS platformer. Only real major con would be that visually the game is a bit repetitive and it is a bit light on content for the price. If you want to make an unapologetic knockoff of Portal, go for it. It's been years, and there's plenty of room to expand the genre. But if you're going to do that, make sure to have some aspect of the game (level design, graphics, dialog, game mechanics, voice acting... anything) better than the original. This is a decent game on its own terms, but as the AI voiceover blandly tells me that I'm a disappointment (with no aspect of humor or originality) while I navigate through a low-res world…
