positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s cool, the combat is really good…. WHEN YOU GET TO PLAY IT! This game has what I’m gonna call “modern game syndrome” where it stops you for every little thing or explains every little thing. Mission 1 you spawn in to the level and there’s a path forward that’s a paved road with fence on either side and nowhere else to go, then your little helpful marketable mascot sidekick explains the guide mechanic where you follow a floating symbol showing you where to go when there is, in fact,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →havent played much yet but seems pretty cool. i wanted to write this because one of the top reviews is a negative one that says "this game sucks because enemies attack you while youre comboing an enemy unlike in dmc" well guess what buddy in dmc when enemies attack you they dont flash red, and you dont have a broken spammable parry either. please play other character action games like metal gear rising and ninja gaiden 2 if you think these games are about doing "combos" its EMBARRASSING how…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tldr Great game with some minor issues, if you want to try a 10-12hr Anime ARPG with some of bullet hell mechanics then this is for you. Good + Flashy fast paced combat which requires you to engage with enemy mechanics. + The boss fights are definitely deserving of the spectacle fighter tag. + Fun bosses and enemies that have varied attack patterns. + Dodges and parries feel great to do. + Decent amount of skills to vary your combos. + When the platforming segments are done well, it feels…

Trend-hopping low effort Survivors, Balatro and Ball X Spit-likes will gain 100x more while pure, unadulterated artistry such as this, obvious indie GOTY will not get as much as a mention at the Game Awards. I will proceed to force gift this to a friend of mine who won't even play it, and make fun of me for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very good spectacle fighter that doesn't always play to its strengths. The combat is the real deal, with excellent controls, crisp inputs, and a solid amount of combos. It's hard to go wrong with the fighting. The levels are a bit boring, though, as they often don't have enough combat until later. Instead there's a fair amount of just decent platforming and a story that's better than it had to be but still not enough to remotely compete with the fighting. Sadly, there's only one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh dang, I knew that indie character action game Homura Hime was clearly inspired by Nier Automata (right down to having an orbiting gun-pod and bullet hell segments in fights), but they even got direct feedback from Yoko Taro and Takahusa Taura. Very cool that the Nier crew actively supported it.

unlabelledView post →Homura Hime is a fast-paced action game that surprised me with its barrage of bullet-hell projectiles and deep ghost-based stories. Sitting at just the right gameplay length, it's worth giving a look for fans of anime or Nier Automata. Here's my latest review.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[後半に日本語レビューあり] The Rush of Parrying Bullet Hell: Anime-Style 3D Spectacle Action Set in a world where humans and demons coexist, this 3D action game follows Homura—the supreme exorcist—and her aide Ann as they are dispatched to purify five archdemon girls whose souls, warped by powerful emotions and regrets at death, now threaten to corrupt reality. Each archdemon is rendered as a boss with its own distinct bullet-hell pattern and narrative context, and the late game brings a revelation about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATED: I finished the game. The time played as of this review is me doing everything except one (side battle, didn't find it in the mission, oopsie, adds another 5-ish minutes to the review). So, basically what I said below about the game stands. The story is actually pretty cool, and the combat just keeps getting better and better until you feel cool as $%#% for pulling off the things you eventually pull off. This game is AMAZING. Buy it. I've only completed the first mission, so take…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And one more demo that surprised me - Homura Hime is an EXCEPTIONALLY polished character action game with very Nier Automata-inspired combat, including turning into a bullet hell game at points. It just looks incredibly slick. Could easily pass for a AA production. It's also out in ~48 hours.
unlabelledView post →Sekiro enjoyers should play this game! Homura Hime is a very cute adventure game with gorgeous art, lovable characters and a simple but charming story when it shows itself. The gameplay is snappy, and what made me play this game was seeing a video online and thinking it looked really fun to play, and it is just as fun as it looks, if not more so, i was really impressed. There are only some minor problems here and there like some strange audio cracks in a lot of moments of the game (most…

unlabelledView post →Idk what game to play now with Homura Hime being over, and Crimson Desert dropping on Thursday 😅 Don't want to start anything new, might just hop over to some Granblue or MHWilds grind in between to kill time for the next 3 days 🥲 (This will be a long wait)
unlabelledView post →Just wrapped up Homura Hime and I gotta say it's a very fun game. It wasn't crazy hard for an action game but the combos and skills were fun. Also love the art style for this one, it's nice. Overall fun experience and I'm glad I played it. Good recommendation @chaoseater.bsky.social 😌
unlabelledView post →Overall, an enjoyable 10-ish hour DMC-Style game. The moves feel fluid, combos are fluid and satisfying, and overall the game looks great, and in my opinion, these are the most important factors. A solid recommend. That being said, as a lot of other people, I also ran into some bugs or oddities that were easy enough to work around, but still noteworthy. A skill that froze me in place unless I dodged, some cutscenes that might not have been tested properly for 4k, and occasionally (but very…

unlabelledView post →Be a cute anime girl and fight demons in a 3D gun hell? Yes please. Sounds great on paper, delivered in-game as well. Sometimes you see a game trailer and you're like... surely it will not look like this in the actual play-through. Well. I was very pleasantly surprised. Ran so smooth on my computer. I'm deeply enjoying the plot, the character and level designs, and the boss fights are sick as hell (and really hard). Great music. If you're thinking about getting this game, definitely take a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Epic fights, amazing music. Certain wave battles can be very crowded and you might get hit by bullets outta nowhere, and then some boss fights can have too limited camera angles, other than that I don't really remember, maybe some others can share their own gripes. Overall loved this game since the demo, bought it day one and finished around 12hours, will try to 100% ASAP, but probably will wait for the QoL updates for chests and collectibles tracker for the chapter select in post-game section…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homura Hime again.. Going into a big arena, seems like a setup for an obvious boss fight... And then getting greeted with this intro... ... This game is stupidly funny sometimes LMAO... (The actual fight was a bullet hell nightmare)
unlabelledView post →Female Vergil, who is constantly on fire, fights a bunch of demonic anime girls while dodging a ludicrous amount of bullets and parrying all the things. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve and is all the better for it. It knows what it wants to be and achieves it with flying colors. It's stylish, emotional, and incredibly fun. I daresay it is perhaps the absolute best indie character action game ever (which is admittedly not a title with much competition). In a sea of action RPGs, it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the only part of the game i really like is the boss fights, and the boss fights are really cool and fun. However the rest of the game does not have much going for it. the platforming is not very satisfying, running and jumping around while exploring does not feel very good. i wish you could keep your speed while slashing boxes and pots. Also breaking the pots and boxes is not very satisfying. There is way too much dialogue and it is not very interesting, the girl with white hair is very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tested the demo of Homura Hime and came away not liking it that much. It's a Nier Automata clone to the core with good art and some overbearing voice-acting, but the movement and gamefeel isn't great. I'm doing the game no favours by playing Ninja Gaiden II either. Shit's awesome.
unlabelledView post →Game is buggy. No backup autosaves, no way to reset the level, no way to teleport back to the hub. When your platforms disappear and you think if you restart the game they'll come back, you are wrong.

unlabelledView post →Stop playing unnecessary cut-scenes every 12 seconds, I'm trying to play a hack and slash but its barely that, I spend more time walking to the next Triple-A waypoint than actually fighting anything, why does every enemy encounter tp you to the middle of the room and lock the controls for 5 second just so the game is sure you weren't caught off guard by three fodder minions that just stand there while you wail on them. Combat is flashy, but bland and shallow. The characters aren't that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one awesome spectacle fighter! The combat influence from Nier: Automata is obvious from the start. You have two swords that float behind your back, one for light attacks and one for heavy attacks, and you have a "pod" with various fire functions that floats next to you that unleashes barrage attacks. The combat sequences also combine melee fighting with a mild bullet hell aspect. That's where the similarities end, though. As far as the aesthetic, story, and level design go, this game…

unlabelledView post →I FEEL BAD FOR THE NEGATIVE REVIEW BUT WILL CHANGE IF ADDRESSED I had a lot of fun during the few hours I played before refunding, but the fps drops seem to be a consistent issue in reviews. It needs to be fixed and there should probably be options added in to lower the graphics, not just frame rate. Even lowering fps will not help because the drops are extremely harsh. If/when this is fixed I'll gladly buy the game again, but I feel the negative review is needed to help highlight the issue
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent about a year eyeing Gori: Cuddly Carnage from afar until I picked it up a few days ago thinking I'll just beat it in about 8~10 hours and go back to playing Homura Hime… I'm 17hrs in… beat the game and going for the 100% because it seemed very doable and the game is fun. I don't even know who to recommend it to… technically speaking it is an action game, but does not play like any other action game I know. The platforming isn't exactly Tony Hawk Pro Skater/Jet Set Radio either……
unlabelledView post →-Very fun and responsive combat. -Great character designs with sex appeal -Cool boss fights -It took a few hours to care about the story and was fully invested by the time the game ended My two complaints would be that treasures/collectibles aren't really that interesting and some elite enemies forcing you into longer sequences to kill them. The latter would be better reserved for bosses only.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game with lots of potential, if they choose to support it after release. i think there is a solid core here, but it just needs some finetuning and more enemy variety and better combat encounters, getting different weapons or characters to play as would be cool, the game should be easily expandable with more stages and bosses. about the story: well honestly i mostly ignored it, i do like the characters but the wider story really didn't grab me performance could use some looking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While combat is really polished and fun, platforming felt really floaty and the game randomly dropped to sub 30 fps from 144 locked requiring to close the game and start again to become playable again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homura Hime is like if Touhou was a 3D action game. Would recommend.
unlabelledView post →Tried out the demo for Homura Hime tonight and I think it has the foundation of a really solid sleeper hit. My only complaints with the demo is that the sound effects need to be punchier and the game needs more in-depth config options for graphic settings and to add button remapping
unlabelledView post →An action game that I enjoyed way more than I expected. The highlight is definitely the combat. Though Homura Hime has a lot of that "Vergil's daughter" style in her moveset, the actual play experience was closer to a Ninja Gaiden 2 mayhem, in my view. The game is Nier Automata control feel adopting a Devil May Cry moveset, balanced like a milder Ninja Gaiden through Tohou bullet hell chaos, with i-frames generated by Sekiro parry rather than UTs and OTs. Oh and there's dodge offset…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why is there a cutscene for every little thing that happens??? basic enemies have their own cutscece, bosses who get some colored aura get a cutscene, the start and end of a gauntlet has a cutscene, every tutorial not only has the loli talk about it but also shows the tutorial notes afterwards as if i wasnt already told what the new thing does. the gameplay seems actually fun but the amount of handholding is too much of a turn off
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game! Liked the story and the combat is pretty good, its a bit easy with the parries but especially later in the game its super fun flying around parrying nonstop. Bosses are very fun, dont think I had a single bad experience with a fight. You kinda run outta upgrades around midgame but those upgrades you get are super fun to use. My major complaint, the sound design REALLY needs some work. your ranged attack is barely audible and sounds like its clipping, a lot of attacks are pretty…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another Homura Hime post for the night, here is a recording of a random battle encounter sort of midway through the game (no plot spoilers). The gameplay is very much Nier Automata 😌
unlabelledView post →I was so close to enjoying this, but both the combat and platforming were overall a letdown. It breaks its own flow, and there isn't a fun tech way to get around it. You can't use blessed shot at the same time as you're attacking, which is sad. Using it to negate blowback from some moves would feel awesome. You can use supers for it, but it doesn't quite feel good. The default combo strings feel pretty committal, with resets feeling awkward as a result. And going through them to the end…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the child born from a very passionate threesome between Nier Automata, DMC and Ninja Gaiden, its an amazing action game and if you like the genre youre actively doing yourself a disservice for not buying it. Like seriously, its the whole bundle, amazing boss design, awesome main character moveset, AMAZING soundtrack and a very compelling story once you actually dive into it and collect all the documents in the game. Genuinely indie of the year for me, go grab it NOW.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely the best Action, Anime-style, hack-n-slash game i've ever played. I never saw comments/opinions about this game before playing it, so I didn't even have any high expectations for this game. But holy the combat genuinely slaps me in the face and wakes me up. I guarantee anyone who read this that; If you want to know how it feels to fight as an anime character, and are also looking for a (this might be weird) relaxing but also exciting gameplay, you WILL have fun playing this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homura Hime surprised me with how stylish and satisfying the combat feels. Pulling off combos gave me strong NieR and DmC vibes, especially once the game starts pushing you to play more aggressively. Boss fights can get genuinely tough, but overcoming them feels rewarding instead of frustrating. The voice acting and character designs are also top-notch and give the game a lot of personality.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I shamelessly bought this game (on sale) for the art style and the sick looking trailer. I stuck around for the art style and fluid combat. The moment to moment gameplay when you are stringing fights into boss fights is sublime. The story has a neat unfolding mystery aspect that tugs on the heartstrings a bit and comes to a satisfyingly well-earned conclusion. At one part there is a 4th wall break that surprised me and had my eyes a bit misty. The game does falter a bit with the transitions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: The combat is genuinely fun and mechanically solid right out of the gate. If you’re looking for a flashy action loop, the foundation is there. The Bad: Zero Staying Power: The depth is shallow. It only takes a couple of hours to fully master the combat, and once you do, the game stops challenging you. Lack of Variety: The enemy variety is non-existent. You’ll find yourself fighting the same recycled mobs repeatedly, making the trek between bosses feel like a chore on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A spectacle fighter that draws influence from many action games that came before it and fine tunes the gameplay making every encounter feel like a dance. I haven't had this much fun controlling a character since Bayonetta 1
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would take very little added complexity to make Homura Hime a game that is true "character action", if you give it directional inputs and proper hold attacks you're basically there already. It instead opts for very powerful moves on cooldown, and that's fine.
