What people are saying

A faithful, fun HoMM3 clone with sci-fi flair, but bugs and AI issues hold it back.

Players widely praise the game as a loving homage to Heroes of Might and Magic 3, with many calling it a faithful modern implementation that feels fresh. The sci-fi setting, art style, and music are frequently highlighted as charming and well-crafted. [1][4][6][16]

However, many players report significant technical issues, including long load times, performance dips, and game-breaking bugs. The AI is often criticized as unintelligent, and some find the campaigns unbalanced or repetitive. [1][19][31][32][33][34]

Praised Faithful HoMM3 clone · Sci-fi setting and art style · Fun and engaging gameplay
Criticised Technical issues (load times, performance, bugs) · Weak AI · Campaign balance and repetitiveness

Man, this review hurts to give. It's clear the developers have a lot of love for the material that inspired this game, and it has a lot of fantastic ideas and does a lot of things right. The drama around the name change is, as you can imagine, pointless to pay attention to. But as someone who intentionally waited to touch this until a 1.0 release, I can confidently say the game was not ready to leave early access. In the short time I've played it so far: - The game itself runs at an unstable…

First I should say, I think the game has amazing potential and this review would likely change if they fixed a few things. The worst of the various issues is quite clearly that if you try to do the Custom scenarioes, the game runs like liquid ass. A large map with 6 players and it literally takes forever between turns and heaven forbid if you enter the city or something and tries to go back to the map, it can quite often 'think' so hard the game stalls out. Very obviously (in my view) not…

Very good HoMM-like game. The factions are interesting and most units have special abilities to make them unique. Some ideas like consumables are forgettable, but overall the game stays close to the HoMM formula that we know and love. The campaigns are fun and I appreciated the writing (despire the story being fairly basic). My biggest gripe is that load times are very long, and the AI turns can take a while in certain maps

For those unaware, there is also Heroes of Science and Fiction, which is essentially homm 3 with a fresh scifi coat of paint and lots of qol stuff. It's in early access but man it catches the vibe so well.

I've played other Homm type games including the recent release of Olden era. I like them all but this is my favorite out of them. I love the art style, animation, character quirks, and especially the pacing for both the world and combat maps. It's a seriously fun game that doesn't take itself too seriously. I hope the developers get more attention and more opportunity for continued development.

An excellent turn-based strategy game—I highly recommend it to all fans of the genre. The audio is pleasant. The graphics are cartoonish, the kind that runs smoothly even on a Steam Deck at high settings, yet still charming in their own way. The controls are fairly standard for the genre. Now, a detailed breakdown of the gameplay: There are five factions, four of which have their own campaigns. The factions differ in their unit rosters and a few minor city mechanics. Additionally, faction…

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 done right. HOMM3 is one of the best games ever made. So if someone wants to pay homage to that amazing series. Just freaking copy it, add some own additions and it's DONE. Heroes of Science does exactly that. It feels like discovering HOMM once again, learning cities, units, abilities, hero strenghts and weaknesses. Its basicaly re-living the first experience with HOMM. Combat view is basicaly the same, world map movement and strats plays exactly like a HoMM…

Very good Sci-Fi-HOMM game which seem to used HOMM 3 as blueprint and added some modern QOL. Every tribe has a building to teleport to every base. One time use items can be stored and used later. You can build some small structures on the map, e.g. to farm extra resources or stop the movement of an enemy hero. There is only one upgrade choice for the troops, which i personally like better than the variants because most of the time i always pick the same upgrade anyway. They simplified the…

Is this game fun? YES! This has the potential to become a great HOMM spinoff or clone as it was intended without breaking the IP. Can i recommend it currently as of July 2026? NO! There are so many bugs in a full release. Some are game breaking. CON: AI isn't really smart. Some maps have objective that it can not do. (example: gather key to open gateway). CON: Usable items are not that diverse. Ending up with multiple of the same. Which can't be stacked. CON: Multiplayer is.. still in beta?…

I played HoSF for 83 hours and I'm enjoying the game as a big fan of HoMM3. If you don't mind SF surrounding (I don't know why would you), you'll feel like this is HoMM3 in space with some improved things that only improve your playing experience. Maps are beautiful, all factions are hand drawn in a style of European SF comics (at least that's my impression). Combat is great, as you would expect from HoMM-inspired game, and towns look nice too (especially Fossorians, who have communist-like…

It's a "HoMM 3" clone, and it has quite a few shortcoming. To name a few: The balance in campaigns is all over the place. One typical scenario is a two-phased map — you can prepare for how long you need to, then trigger an event, and the enemies come guns blazing. It works once, it's ok-ish twice, but this scheme is repeated literally in every campaign. IMHO, the races have little differences (compared to "HoMM 3") and generally you can use the same tactics over and over. Implementation is…

Could be a funny heroes like game, but it still needs work, especially the AI. Explained by example The enemy has a huge army. Still, you just walk in his territory through the backdoor entrance. He will almost ignore you, just continuing capturing mines and stuff. You can just conquer his cities, because they are almost unprotected - his huge army is with his king and another hero. Then, he combines his whole army in the secondary hero to hunt one of your heroes (instead of taking back…

The game is a lot of fun, especially for Heroes of Might and Magic fans like me! Creatively made and very imaginative. The only noticeable downside, so far, is that it is a little rough around the edges. It is, for example, often difficult to move to an exact area and repeated clicks may be necessary to find a path- along with a lack for an option to right click movement and attack. I am guessing that despite the creative talent behind the game their budget may be a little slim. Hopefully…

If you like HoMM(2,3, or 5), this is a very faithful modern implementation of that style game. There are some new systems, innovations, quality of life improvements, but the overall game is quite similar. Story is great and the campaign is fun to play. Just about through all the campaigns and would highly recommend. If you are reading this and looking for another great implementation of the classic HoMM formula, I would also highly recommend…

Heroes of Science and Fiction is an outstanding game. It shares a lot of similarities with games from the Heroes of Might and Magic series (who'd have thought, right?). It, however, further iterates on the original formula. In my opinion it does so incredibly successfully. Everything you know and love from its originators is here. The base building, the battles, the overworld, the hero 'magic' system, the unique tiered units which can be upgraded, the various resources. All of it. The main…

Played a ton of games like this, going back to the original King's Bounty on release (yeah, I'm old lol). This one is just uninspiring. The units, AI, base building (which is really boring/lacking), combat, no sense of urgency, etc. just makes it....boring to me. I'm thinking when they changed the name from Silence of the Siren to something that players may mistake to be part of the Heroes of Might & Magic series, they knew the game was lacking. I did like the dialog and little quips in it…

I'm excited about it and have finally found that scratch for my itch with the Heroes of Science and Fiction which surprisingly was true to the old HOMM games. Overall this is a great direction because these games have been neglected and forgotten for what feels like decades, so it's nice to be in a sort of golden era and hopefully these sales continue so it can go even further.

It’s better than it has any right to be. It’s a proud rip-off of Heroes of Might and Magic, but it should be proud. It manages to feel like a HOMM game, but interesting enough in its own right to feel fresh. Now that it’s on Version 1.0, it’s time to give it a recommended and start playing again!

I wanted to like this and I enjoyed the hours I played but there's just too many things wrong with this game. I quit after I started the 4th campaign and could not proceed any further. I wrote the review after being frustrated for not being able to continue the game, which I fairly enjoyed for 40 hours. But in the 1st map in the 4th campaign I'm up against enemies way stronger than I am who can cross half the map in a single turn and annihalate either of my heroes within 3 turns. I just…

This game is the very definition of both HIT and MISS, for me. Love: The music. The style of the graphics. The world. The title (I think its better than Silence of the Siren or whatever they changed from). The options on how to play the game, including maps and different scenarios. The writing so far is quite fun. Dislike: The factions; for me I could consider playing Sovereign Fleet, UNSS and Children of the Source... but they all just miss some real appeal that factions have in Songs of…

It's OK. I beat 3/4 missions of the first campaign and I think I can talk about it now. It's a modern complete overhaul of HoMM 3, with some fresh ideas. A bit slow to load and has some performance dips on my machine. Loading in/out of the city an combat also causes the game to hiccup for a second. Together it adds up to the game being a bit slow to play, even with maxed out animation speed. Missing some QOL features like quickly splitting units and auto-resolving easy battles. That's a shame, because it's actually a pretty good game that deserves attention. The comparisons to Heroes of Might and Magic (HOMM) games are inevitable, since this is a direct clone in almost every way. But except for being in 3-D, it's a good clone. Okay, it is probably early for me to recommend this game, and it is in Early Access, so, perhaps somethings will change too. As a fan of, but very bad player of HOMM games, I find this to be so enjoyable. I think the setting is, while sci-fi tropey, still manages to be creative.
