negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DISCLAIMER: i played this when it came out, did NOT touch multip[layer, came back to clear out the solo gauntlet mode for all the mechs, and then ditched the game. this game is very well made, it clearly had a lot of effort put into it but honestly, it kinda falls short if you look at it from a single-player perspective. essentially my main gripes are -there is only 1 story from one perspective that only lets us play the one mech amongst a sea of mech goodness -the options for single-player…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Co-op and playable bosses were part of the kickstarter, the game got over double its funding, and neither of those showed up. In fact, they advertise quite a lot of mechs; yet the entire campaign can only be played using a single specific one, and the shallow repeatable survival mode (and curiously absent arcade mode, both of which were stated to be co-op) has little variation and few environments to engage in its enormous grind within. While it is ultimately a decent game, it's not what was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hardcore Mecha is a 2D action platformer that encapsulates all the fun of watching a mecha anime but in a playable form. From a robust single-player experience to chaotic multiplayer sorties, get ready to pilot your war machine and save the day in this fun little indie game. STORY The single-player story follows Tarethur, a mercenary of the Hardcore Defense Corp., as he tries to fulfill his contract to rescue a key Intelligence officer from a Martian mine, now captured by terrorists. What…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, cool enough story, gameplay is perfect at my opinion. Don't buy. Why? Because the Devs abandoned this game. While the Singleplayer is great, 10/10 even, the multiplayer services are dead. Guess what all the DLCs are for. You can't even play against Bots, as that requires connection to their dead servers. It's a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't bother unless you like playing the story with only 1 mech. Devs seem to have have bailed. So much untapped potential: - The controls are bad and unnecessarily complicated. - The upgrade system is shoehorned in and you basically can't grind earlier levels to unlock the higher tier weapons without playing the "next" mission on the list. - You can't use the other mechs to play the campaign which makes the trailer very deceptive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Celebrating the anniversary of your game with AI slop and never put in a coop mode as promise in a kickstarter? What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eeh, it's kinda not what I expected. Trailer makes the game look more intense and harder than it actually is, with a bunch of cool air combat, that you rarely do. Could be because I was playing on normal difficulty, but the game won't let me play on higher difficulty anyways until I S-rank some missions. And that brings me to the typical annoying Japanese design stuff: How do you S-rank missions? By not using the healing items the game gives you. Why even have those then? You also need to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hungry for a game like this but found it didn't quite do what I needed. I found the level designs to be pretty dull and repetitive. Didn't realize the DLC mecha couldn't be used in single player mode.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little platformer, that uses delayed input to give you feeling that your're driving a mech. Everything is very well polished. The only problem I have is that the game has plethora of mechs, but all of them are for multiplayer only...and who gives a F about that? like really...? Other then that everything is top quality: music, artstyle, controls, gameplay. And it has a ~ 15 hours singleplayer campaign so for the price it's definitely worth it I would say.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want something that feels like the more military vibe of Front Mission: Gun Hazard or Votoms with the tight controls of Megaman this is not the game. This game is more like Full Metal Panic if it were a 2D platformer with lots insufferably forced zoom in game play and loose inaccurate controls, too much focus on the thematic plot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is fun even on multiplayer and........ GIVE US GURREN LAGANN DLC BACK!!!!!!!!!! and MORE! collab DLC!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING most, if not, all of the DLC is for multiplayer pvp ONLY. It's stupid that you can't use the DLC characters in Simulation mode. Other than that, game seems okay. But I would love to see us get access for Simulation mode. There's just no good reason not to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story telling is good and similar to visual novel, but not for my taste. Gameplay-wise good audio and visual effects. However, the game progression is too linear and too boring for me. As for upgrade and customization, there is little to no variety, making it meaningless to grind and purchase upgrades for different playstyle. Back in the old days of SNES, i was playing games like Metal Warrior and Ranger X, those games have very nice single-player campaigns and fun mechanics. Maybe my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro: + Extremely solid visual presentation, the Mecha and character design is fantastic, the cutscenes are wonderfully directed and merge perfectly with the chibi style +Extremely fun gameplay, your mecha controls like a dream, responding immediately to your inputs as you blast your way a set of great levels and memorable boss battles +Good level of costumization between ranged weapons, ultimates, items and melee you can build your mecha however you want +Very likable cast of characters that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Difficulty suddenly ramps up just after the 2 hour mark and there are 2 boss fights in a row without a save point in between. The control scheme could be better - trying to hover and shoot is almost impossible and some rooms almost require you to be able to do that. The game description says 'better handling' but it's not as playable as it could be and I spent a lot of time just tanking damage even though in theory I could have been able to dodge or block if I could re-assign the buttons to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME IS GREAT... but EDIT: After playing this game more (including the multiplayer) I don't think it deserves the thumbs down, even if just for the steam metrics, but my feelings are the same. Look, I want to recommend this game, and I think you should definitely pick it up when it goes on sale if it looks like your kind of thing, but at the moment it's a very barebones game. The campaign is pretty good, with a variety of locations and side objectives and even a few completely unique…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a lot of mecha-games specifically that have low budgets, and end up being medicore because they try to over complicate things. There are games with better graphics and more complicated stories that don't quite measure up to this game, and here's why. This mecha-game is simple, a little clunky, but doesn't try to be more than what it appears to be. Story is typical in a nastolgic way (reminds me of when I first watched Gundam), and the art and designs are sleek and contextually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy side scrolling action games, and particularly if you enjoy(ed): - Front Mission: Gun Hazard - Target: Earth - Assault Suits Leynos 1 and 2 - Assault Suits Valken/Cybernator - Metal Warriors - Armored Hunter: Gunhound - Battle Armor Divison - Mechblaze - Gigantic Army - Steel Strider You will love this game. Great learning curve and the action feels just right, particularly on Steam Deck which can run this game with most of its power settings dialed way down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you agree with this post go play Hardcore Mecha It had this exact kinda mech and a damn fun main storyline as well as sad gay boi pilots store.steampowered.com/app/746580/H...
unlabelledView post →Entertaining and fun with a fun play-style. The gameplay is fun and rewarding for some missions that are primarily fought in your mech and with a small amount taking part when you are disembarked on foot. Highly recommend to play either with sound or while you watch shows, it is super fun and played best with a game controller check it out !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has great presentation and some really good mecha designs. I've never thought I'd have fun with SD mecha but this proved me wrong. The story isn't anything new but it's a fun-enough romp, and the levels are very well designed. The only thing that hampered the experience for me was the controls; using a gamepad is not a great experience because of how movement and aiming work. It's not unplayable, just definitely a point of friction. Also, I'd recommend against getting any of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*only went through the story mode. I heard good things about this game so thought I'd give it a shot. Definitely a nice little gem with little flaws to point out. If you want to compare it with something, probably the Megaman Zero or Gunvolt series would be the closest thing. The story was pretty standard with a lot of memes from popular mecha franchises. The two things I'll complain about, unfortunately, is the precision aiming and Thunderbolt's beam rifle's hit box. The precision aiming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the game in around 6 hours for the story-mode. Story: Is fine. Nothing groundbreaking, but fine. Gameplay: Fun. well made. the missions bring in new variety all the time. Difficulty: Normal mode can't be played braindead and easy mode is there if you prefer mindless pew pew. Content: There is multiplayer and a wave-mode with a progression system for those who want more. I did not try multiplayer so no idea if that is even alive. The game is around 17€ and can be bought for far…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I'm really enjoying some free time playing Hardcore Mecha and Mecha Bringer, they're still exo-suit robot games with people inside. I urge for some game where robots ARE the characters in it 😅 (I tried warframe before and it makes me motion sick so no lol I'm not button smashing smart)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fantastic love letter to the mecha genre, with all the style you could possibly hope for. Includes tons and tons of references to all the old classics, and a very engaging 6ish hour campaign.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the graphics and character models look goofy and stupid - but if you can look past the sometimes stupid presentation you will find that Hardcore Mecha is a very good game. Good story telling, fantastic side scroller, lots of custom options for Mech builds etc. I wish the game was a bit more serious in its presentation. I dont know why they use chibi and goofy animations. But apart from that I can highly recommend the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting platformer, it's fun. Corny story and voice acting but about what you would expect for a "shonen" hot-blooded plotline. The animations are made with love. In terms of its value as an action game, maybe I've been spoilt by crisp responsive games like Monster Hunter, Street Fighter etc. enough that I'm not the best fan of animation delays. The aiming and movement are cursor-dependent and that takes some getting used to. But I think people will enjoy this game if they regard this as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really satisfying 2D action platformer, with mechs! The mech designs are cool, the story is pretty decent, the gameplay is a good combination action but with mechs that feel weighty so you do have to be a bit deliberate with your actions. There is a multiplayer PVP mode if you have some friends you want to play with, but you probably won't find any matches online. I'd say the 20 dollar pricetag is a very fair asking price and hope they'll do a sequel someday, or at least another mecha themed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is hands down one, if not the, best mech games I have ever played. They have the feel of playing through a mech anime down perfectly. Its on sale right now. Buy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The biggest problem with this game by far is the feeling of being deprived of the ability to re-experience the game after the first play-through. Is the story perfect? No. But it isn't trying to tell a story, it's trying to deliver incredible gameplay with some really cool mech designs, a killer soundtrack, and some cool characters with some very strange names. For those who are truly interested in the style of the game, expect the story to be a one time experience. Playing through it a second…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't put a lot of time into this game and it's not that it has bad story or anything. The story is generic and cliche and I love it. The action is fun and fast paced and the mecha look great. It all just comes down to 2 things, model style and game controls. Model style: I have a hard time with games where everything looks and moves like a paper cut-out. Like some flash games of the mid-2000s. Each limb is a little graphic that just stiches to the next graphic. Granted, each graphic is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hmmmm, its not bad, but it's lacking something. On sale, its entertaining enough, but i wouldn't buy it full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the mecha-est 2d mecha game I've ever played. Like a pumped up anime infused Front Mission: Gunhazard, Cybernator or Metal Marines from the SNES era but with extremely well animated cutscenes and gameplay action. I have no idea why there aren't any actual Gundam games that play like this, but this really hit the mark. Great job devs!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HARDCORE MECHA is one of those games that immediately understands its audience. From the moment players launch into their first mission, it embraces the spectacle of giant robots with complete confidence. Developed by RocketPunch Games and published by RocketPunch Games and Lightning Games, this side-scrolling action title blends military science fiction, anime-inspired storytelling, and arcade combat into a package that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. It draws clear inspiration…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gotta say. I like this one. Feels nice. Its in 2d and works well in the medium. Stylized, and high quality in general. gud stuff
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 deserves way more attention and credit than it has. its a great mecha game even in the constraints of a 2d space
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hardcore Mecha was an incredibly fun time. I would love to see a sequel in the future! My biggest critique is that there isn't more of this game! Pros: - The mecha designs are all awesome - The story is predictable, but is a fun time - Some great music - Voice acting for important story scenes - Several fully animated cutscenes - Mecha combat and movement feels appropriately heavy - An optional wave survival postgame mode with tons of playable robots. I could see myself sinking hours…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The single player campaign is nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cute game! it executes well the feeling of playing through a corny mech anime. very short and you can't play the multiplayer anymore, but it has an endless wave mode if you like the gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Action: Hardcore Mecha is Platforming-meets-beat-em-up Giant Robots! Holo X Break is a free retro-inspired multiplayer-enabled beat-em-up (and another game I worked on😆)
unlabelledView post →Game's pretty solid, but the absolute refusal to give meaningful openings against mecha bosses is asinine. You can only reasonably attack a boss with low chip damage from ranged weapons, and the INSTANT you attempt to engage in melee you get locked into a combo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game. Felt like I was watching a mecha anime at times. There's surprisingly a lot of attention to detail. Controls were a little difficult and annoying but overall I had fun playing this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a single player shorter experience this is great for any mecha fan. You can tell a lot of care went In to this, I love the designs and characters. I don't get the control complaints personally and felt it was fine but appreciate it's not for everyone. If you're a fan of the genre I'd recommend picking this up. I hope they make another.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First in Portuguese then in English: Não recomendo. __________________________________________________________________________ I do not recommend. They didn't give a damn about the rest of the West,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s fun enough and there’s some impressive animations here and there but I wouldn’t say it’s on the level of Super Robot Wars. At times it can feel like a top of the line flash game which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you go into it with tempered expectations. Recommend at discount price only.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this because none of the other sidescrolling mech games on Steam function. This is the closest I've found to what I'm looking for but i can't recommend it for a few reasons. 1) I dont like anime cliche's and this is 110% that. 2) All of the characters look like bitmojis and its really lame. 3) After some research it looks like they failed to deliver what was promised in the kickstarter. For that, i am refunding. 4) Couldnt get my controller to work with it as is recommended (that may…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Well made with a solid sound track, good play control, and an engaging story. This brings me back to the 2D era of great games published on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. It also hits all the right notes for a mecha anime fan!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you grew up with SNES, then this game will remind you of Cybernator or Metal Warrior; mix with anime visual novel. The controls are easy, the left thumbstick moves back and forth, move it up and down to aim. Just like Cybernator. The chibi anime mechas is something to get used to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is really fun and you get used to the controls pretty quickly. It's got a good story and fun game play, but it is kind of short. It's also too bad you can't use the custom mecha in single player, since that's all I'm interested in. Could use a sequel that goes even further.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like mecha anime and video games!!! Buy It! Some people complain about the controls but actually not using the right joystick is a nice change in my opinion. It harkens back to mech games of old! Buy It!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of those games that doesn't detect my gamepad regardless of what I do and I just don't like keyboard controls for 2D Action/Platform. And before you tell me "Big Picture Mode", calm your tits, I already tried it. On, off, controller detected, config, reinstall, validated, blah blah. Look, I got 800+ games on this here and been on Steam for what? Nine years, almost a decade. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I've done this before with other games and had it work as well has having the ability to read…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feel more original in the content that it provides, while at first the game's controls feel clunky, it soon becomes a breeze to play after the movement is master. It's fast but simplistic game play draws you in and soon you feel more powerful with each step after getting leveled up. I would recommend this if you're looking for a fun time and a cheap thrill. On the other hand the first level is a basic tutorial that tries to explain the game play with its movement system. it feel's like…
