neutral · AI labelView post →Ghosts of Mars (2001) is a blood-soaked pulp sci-fi action ride. It's one of Carpenter's final feature films, this movie takes the classic western "siege of the outpost" formula and transplants it onto the terraformed, dust-choked Red Planet. #scifi #horror #horrormovies #horrorsky #horrotjunkie

negative · AI labelView post →Tonight’s spooky movie: John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars Fun fact: I went to high school with Ice Cube
neutral · AI labelView post →John Carpenters Ghosts of Mars if I'm not mistaken Fun fact, it was originally meant to be the 3rd Escape From movie.

negative · AI labelView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Year 2, Day #4 "Ghosts of Mars" (John Carpenter/2001) I know this film has lots of haters but I'm not one of them, I love it! Sure it's cheesy but it feels like it is supposed to be and it it tremendous fun. Check it out.
positive · AI labelView post →Ghosts of Mars is such a fun idea, but a bad movie (love you John, but GOM is a mess). I’d love to see it remade with a decent budget by an action director like Chad Stahelski or Gareth Evans or maybe go the opposite way with David Cronenberg or del Toro.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched John Carpenter’s The Ward (2010), his (likely) final movie. Honestly if his name wasn’t attached to it, I would not have thought he directed this. He didn’t write it or compose the soundtrack, so I wonder if this was as work-for-hire job or he didn’t want Ghosts of Mars to be his last movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Right, because Ice Cube was already in the best alien movie of all time, Ghosts of Mars.
neutral · AI labelView post →I've had an edible and it's fucking HITTING. That being said - John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars (2001) has one of my favorite lines in any movie. It gets me laughing so fucking hard. Every time. Uno - "You got that right, butchy. I'm not as nice as Desolation. And I'll cut your fucking titties off."
positive · AI labelView post →#nowwatching GHOSTS OF MARS (2001) First time watch & it's finally time to see this. Only two other John Carpenter films I haven't seen 🎥
neutral · AI labelView post →Ghosts of Mars (2001) Dir. John Carpenter- Often dismissed as lacking, this film is better than people think. A fun, brutal sci-fi western set on Mars where the ghosts of the past (and past wrongs) invade the present. Second-tier Carpenter ? Maybe, it does have issues but still, bold, fun and tense🎞️
positive · AI labelView post →I’m not going to look it up but I wouldn’t be surprised if Ebert revisited the film more positively, I don’t think someone can love Ghosts of Mars but dislike The Warriors, he was a young man who acted out of passion
neutral · AI labelView post →Escape from L.A. (1996) Also, Pam Grier is always awesome to see. I wish she had her own Carpenter movie where she was the lead. (Uh, and I dont have this shine for Ghosts of Mars, before you ask. Blech.) #filmsky #moviesky
negative · AI labelView post →60. Underwater: Best thing I can say about it, are that the interior sets look cool. Just doesn't do enough of interest with its premise. 61. Ghosts of Mars: Classic case of "lightgun movie". Actors with hokey guns in cheap, sci-fi hallways shooting endless droves of whatever. Camp, but kinda dull.
negative · AI labelView post →Carpenter’s final truly great film (though “Ghosts of Mars” is fun pulp and “Cigarette Burns” is in the top three Masters of Horror).
neutral · AI labelView post →I normally don't get political on here, but I can't stand by and say nothing when so much is on the line. I have to speak my mind even if I lose followers: Ghosts of Mars is a great movie and if you disagree you're a fukking dumb! Pam Grier and Ice Cube fighting Nine Inch Nails fans on Mars rules!
positive · AI labelView post →Personally, I like GHOSTS OF MARS. It's a silly SF action flick that calls back to both Escape from New York and Assault on Precinct 13, but with a Bradbury twist. A fun cast and a great soundtrack. Never understood why more people don't love this film.
positive · AI labelView post →Catching John Carpenter's mediocre GHOSTS OF MARS at the Sameric Theater in Philadelphia. This was the last film I remember seeing at the place. What had once been a truly beautiful theater was now gross and sticky and overrun with rodents. The most depressed I've ever felt at the movies.
negative · AI labelView post →Jason Statham has been either bald or very nearly for most of his movies. I think Ghosts of Mars might have been the bushiest he ever was.

neutral · AI labelView post →Ghosts of Mars is a based movie because Mars has this oppressive, corrupt matriarchal government led by women where men are second class citizens and predatory lesbians give preferential treatment to willing subordinates None of this worldbuilding has anything to do with the plot It’s awesome
positive · AI labelView post →Every theatrical (so, no TV stuff) movie is showing except for Starman, Village of the Damned, Ghosts of Mars, and The Ward. Yes, even Memoirs made the cut.

GHOSTS OF MARS isn't a great Carpenter movie, but even a mediocre Carpenter movie is still pretty good...and LOOKS great!

unlabelledView post →I like creature features and body horror, especially when put in the backdrop of space or if the creature is extraterrestrial. Color Out of Space was a cool bit of both. But I also like stuff like Alien/Aliens, Event Horizon, The Thing, and Ghosts of Mars. These are the best examples. Most of the movies that fit this pretty narrow scope are cheesy and more funny than terrifying. Horror is already pretty campy, as is sci-fi. You mix the two and it's just a mess. Although without it, you…

unlabelledView post →I watched Ghosts of Mars (2001) This is a disliked film, and yeah, it’s lackluster even though it has some good stuff. Can you imagine casting Pam Grier as a middle aged lesbian cop on Mars, and then just killer her off early in the film??? Make the movie about her!

unlabelledView post →Spooktober Movie No. 27 🎃📽️: Ghosts of Mars Terrible but in a kinda great way. A film out of its time. Would have been great if it was made in the 80s but by 2001 there was no excuse. Ice Cube dual wielding machine guns like a gangster is the best thing about the movie.

Problem sind manche Effekte, die wirklich arg billig daher kommen. Stimmung ist okay und erstmals mochte ich sogar Carpenters Musik in einem Carpenter-Film.

unlabelledView post →Watched GHOSTS OF MARS (2001) (now listening to the commentary, which is very conversational and fun). This wasn't bad! But it is among the least of John Carpenter's filmography. It's weird because it feels much more like a Roger Corman film, but it's filmed in the 2000s with actual money.
