Deep Blue Sea
Researchers on the undersea lab Aquatica have genetically altered the brains of captive sharks to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease. But there's an unexpected side effect: the sharks got smarter, faster, and more dangerous. After a big storm damages their remote research facility, they must fight for their lives. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →Watching Deep Blue Sea. One of my favorite examples of a movie that knows what it is & commits to being that. The shocks are foolproof. I love that they give the cook (LL Cool J) his own one-man survival story apart from the group. Sturdy structure. Every action sequence has its own mini-narrative.
unlabelledView post →In Deep Blue Sea they’re trying to end Alzheimer’s and the movie is like nice job you made hyper intelligent sharks I hope you’re happy you absolute psychopaths

unlabelledView post →I saw "Deep Blue Sea" opening night at the Cinerama Dome, and no one knew how Samuel L. Jackson's big, mid-movie speech ended, and the sound of the crowd at that moment could've levitated the building.

unlabelledView post →My favorite example of this is Deep Blue Sea where LL Cool J talks about sharks but also doesn’t seem to have a firm grasp on what happens in the film because he starts talking about ghosts and fish that glow in the dark

unlabelledView post →This was fun! It is surprisingly brief, perhaps a little too brief. Great effects by Stan Winston and a fun cast. Pretty wild audiences got two star-studded B-movies, Lake Placid and Deep Blue Sea just a couple weeks apart. And it’s nice that neither movie ever got any sequels.😂

unlabelledView post →my favourite bit in the film Deep Blue Sea (1999) is when the shark turns on an oven.

unlabelledView post →Samuel L. Jackson's death in DEEP BLUE SEA is easily a Top 3 Movie Moment. Right up there with the "Tears in Rain" speech in BLADE RUNNER and the ending speech from THE GREAT DICTATOR.
unlabelledView post →Deep Blue Sea is a movie about a hyperintelligent shark that ends with a rap about how LL Cool J is also a sort of hyperintelligent shark if you think about it
unlabelledView post →“Deep Blue Sea” at the Cinerama Dome in LA, an absolutely packed theater that had no idea Samuel L. Jackson’s Big Scene was coming and just exploded when it happened. Oh, and literally any movie at the Worldwide Cinemas, a dollar theater near Times Square where every movie came with commentary.
unlabelledView post →Deep Blue Sea 2 isn't a great film but Rob Mayes makes up for it. 🥵🥵🥵
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Day #174 "Deep Blue Sea" (Renny Harlin/1999) While JAWS still reigns as undisputed King, this film about genetically altered sharks is a hell of a banger. Fun cast, great direction and tons of tension. Check it out!
unlabelledView post →Anaconda and Deep Blue Sea are the best of American film making so yes we're watching them this weekend
unlabelledView post →I was at university with Ella Whelan and she once voiced the opinion that the scary thing about Deep Blue Sea, the movie where LL Cool J is hunted by hyperintelligent sharks, is that it could actually happen.
unlabelledView post →Even a movie like DEEP BLUE SEA (also recently revisited), bland expository scene at the outset, I’m thinking “Look at how this was *lit*!” So much skilled experience went into everything.
unlabelledView post →This is the first poster of Deep Blue Sea I saw at the video store when I was 12 and I told my mom “we need to rent this”. It became our favorite movie and we rented it every weekend for years. We still watch it together every summer so this dumb movie will always hold a special place in my heart
unlabelledView post →Happy #SharkWeek Machete Club! Let me put forward my vote for second best shark movie, after Jaws: Deep Blue Sea (1999) We got an all star cast, multipe practical props, and the worlds most bats🦈t insane script. And who could forget the rap? Prove me wrong - whats the shark movie silver medal?

unlabelledView post →Pontypool, great concept and execution for a low budget horror, Canadian zombies with a twist The Man from Earth low budget sci-fi about a guy who's been alive for thousands of years, mostly just character development and story telling through actually story telling. Deep Blue Sea 3, 1 was great b movie shark horror, 2 was garbage, but 3 knew it was on the back foot and just goes all in, not a great movie but after 2 definitely underrated.
unlabelledView post →Saw Independence Day at a theater right next to the Empire State Building. We saw ourselves get blown up and everyone whooped. Saw Deep Blue Sea. At the, um, extremely surprising plot twist that happens like a third of the way into the movie, everyone applauded for the movie tricking us so well.

unlabelledView post →The journey that the shark film has gone on through history has been wild. I think things went off the rails in 1999 when Deep Blue Sea came out. That film legitimized the whole 'sharks with super powers' thing. Right after that the first wave of sci-fi channel shark movies came out #Frightclub

unlabelledView post →The director of DEEP BLUE SEA is back with a vicious new shark thriller where nobody is safe. DEEP WATER is a mean-spirited flick and, even though it often looks cheap and the ending is haphazrdly edited together, it's a hoot. My review is at @thewrap.com!
