Controls are manual shot (with a charge shot if held down), autofire, bomb, and display or hide score (Saturn only). Ships all move at the same speed but have different shots, and the game has no slowdown button. Positives: + Solid 60 fps + Arcade Mode has 6 levels with a 2nd loop; 2nd loop adds suicide bullets + Saturn Mode has 8 levels: adds Karaoke and Console level + Leaderboards for each character +…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Nostalgia in the classic arcade shoot'em up! ヽ(=´▽`=)ノ" + Point : This classic anime arcade STG is still solid & interesting. Intro Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special. It's an arcade shoot'em up game by CITY CONNECTION, Chara-Ani, and published by Degica Games. The series was originally started in 1995 by JALECO, game development studio that had been developing lots of classic arcade games. This steam edition is a remastered version. It's welcome to have these classic games remastered and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Tengoku CruisinMix is fast-paced, cute, funny, colorful, and nostalgic. The glimpses of Streetfighter playing in the background and the Tetris-ish blocks are nice retro touches. Rainbow colors fill in the details in the background. Adorable characters and bosses are plentiful. Bubblegum pop sets the tone but it is not distracting. There is an arsenal of six unique anime characters that move at the same speed but each character has different fire power capabilities. During gameplay, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a TOUGH one to review because there are bad and good things about it, but I will get the main bad thing out of the way: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME if you are going to stick to keyboard. The menus are confusing with enter/escape as accept and cancel/back, and X and Y literally being in-game X and Y buttons (but I have no idea what LB and RB even are supposed to be on keyboard). This game was solely designed for use with controllers and arcade sticks, there is NO keyboard control…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible controls and no way to change them. Who the hell approved releasing this with WASD movement and V/B/N for shooting and bombing? Your hands are on top of each other, seriously try fitting your hands on your keyboard to play like that right now. No way to remap which would take 10 seconds to fix. Unplayable, do not buy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Tengoku had quite a strange release when compared to most shmups on Steam. According to the store page it was originally released on November 29, 2017. It released in Japanese with the promise of an English localization soon to come in early 2018. It didn’t come, in fact not only did it not come they released paid DLC instead. The full release and localization finally came out approximately a full year after the games initial release. I finally caved and bought the game in October…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The presentation is really good, they put a good amount of content for this classic, but unfortunate looks like it's another lazy port for PC, you can't remap keys for the keyboard. If you don't like to play shmups with WASD, you're out. =/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot rebind keyboard controls. Uses WASD for movement, contrary to literally every other shmup released on PC that uses the arrow keys. Also uses V for shooting which is incredibly awkward.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the best classic arcade shmup on Steam right now, with added content not found in the original arcade and Sega Saturn port. Since on PC the only alternative to play the game was on MAME or a Saturn emulator, here you'll get less input lag and correct speed. Many bugs and glitches have been sorted out. With the added English translation it will be even better. I recommend it wholeheartedly but notice that it has some slight fanservice scenes during some character end credits or bomb…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game a lot. It's fun, it has a variety of game modes, it looks and sounds good and it has zero input lag. However... - No keyboard button remapping. The default buttons are unfavorable. I am willing to overlook this because I have recently discovered that my keyboard driver lets me change the buttons to my liking. -The leaderboard has no information about the stage you lost at, just a name and a score. Which means that I can't boast about a 1all or a 2all to anyone. -The "Whomp 'Em"…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Asking $30 for this game is just insane with $10 piecemeal DLC on top of that, you have got to be kidding me! Wait for it to be on sale like I did, or find a better shooter to play. Do not pay more than $8 for this game! This is a merely "okay" SHMUP with waaaay too much trial-and-error design that requires you to remember the tricks the various enemies will pull to get you next time around. It's a lazy way to shoehorn difficulty and replayability into an otherwise pretty shallow game. Also,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Literary my best purchase on steam from the past 10 years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love shoot em ups and about 10-15 years ago, I went through a huge slew of them on the Sega Saturn. These days, those same games are deathly expensive to purchase legit copies of, but you won't find a better collection in the genre. Games like DoDonPachi, Soukyugurentai, Galactic Attack/RayForce, Batsugun, Hyper Duel, Battle Garegga, Radiant Silvergun and so many more had effectively set unfair standards of what I expect from a shoot em up and it's rare these days to find one that lives up to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, but iffy PC port. DLC is also $10 a pop, which is a little expensive considering what they are.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't actually mention which version I'm playing did I. it's Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special for Switch. There's so much good stuff in this. Like the characters commenting on the games they're from
unlabelledView post →Never have I had so much fun with a not especially good shmup. The game has ton of charm. Enough to make up its so-so gameplay. I was smiling from the moment I booted up the game and the opening credits were read in a cutesy voice. Followed by an adorable opening narrative of a part-time arcade employee (making 800 Yen/hour) attempting to save the video game world from a mad scientist trying to infect all video games to rule it. Or something, it's not important. Even the little catch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outstanding arcade classic wonderfully brought into the modern age. Never played this in the arcades but I can see why it has endured and is popular. Classic schmup action, awesome Japanese stylings, great port- it's all here. An easy recommend for any arcade shmup' fan 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great multiplayer game, I especially like the thicc graphics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like cute em ups, you will probably love this. Some levels really push the crazy to 11 (wich is good in these games), and one level caused me to die because i was litterally laughing trough the whole stage. Difficulty is adjustable, and now after some time its in english (huzzah! now i cant figure out what all the menu options are) Also the commentary in the data mode, loved it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another SHMUP published by Degica, overall game is 9/10 i love those arcade theme background and anime characters too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special That was fun and silly, cleared both Arcade (3continues) and Arrange (1continue) modes honestly it got to be a real clusterfuck trying to see where bullets were coming from sometimes but I love the chaotic aesthetic and all the parodies of old games in here
unlabelledView post →Very fun and unique game! Originally released on the sega saturn. I played on a old laptop on Linux using proton and the game plays perfectly, very well optimized! There are some minor issues though: – The control mapping is very basic, you can’t map every key (at least from the keyboard). What I did was to use a gamepad and the steam built-in controller configuration and that fixed my issues – The game is very tough, but fortunately you can have unlimited lives so it is not a huge issue – On…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →am I happy that after taxes I payed 40 bucks for this? not really, but this is the kind of game you don't get twice, it's truly unique, and to be able to play it with english subtitles is a dream come true, so, if you like weird old shmups, there are a bunch of nice difficulty options to slowly train yourself, and I think the humour is really well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably one of the most charming games I've played in recent years. I was sitting there playing with a big dumb smile on my face while seeing silly stuff such as the mid-90's 3D modeled Yamada sneaking in a really goofy way on the background of stage 6. Details like that, along with the artstyle and music, turn it into a must play for any fan of older videogames. Oh and this is also one of the most forgiving shmups I've played. Although probably not as forgiving in its original…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've recently been playing this game in short spurts before I go to bed and it's very very enjoyable. I really love the arcade theme to this shmup. I also find the DLC worth it if you have the extra cash. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great port of a bad game... graphics are very cut but gameplay is disapointing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended. 8/10* The game is a compilation of Game Tengoku arcade and console versions. It's short; you can reach the credits screen in under half an hour in each version. However, there are several characters to choose from, making it easy to replay. The new menus and main UI are very good; the colors and art look fantastic. The pixel art is beautiful, and the character design is incredible. Everything has a very kawaii aesthetic. However, once you're actually playing, you can see that it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got a Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special 1CC today! 🎮 Nice game!! #shmup
unlabelledView post →Nice, Crimzon Clover World EXplosion, Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special & Castle of Shikigamiare are also on sale via Steam so I'm tempted to pick those up too. I should really give the unnamed game more time before I form an opinion on it but it's a fighting game (kinda).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice "cute 'em up" tribute to Jaleco and arcade games for the time. This updated version appears to be the definitive version. Good fun to be had here regardless of your knowledge on Jaleco or arcade gaming. There's plenty of info in here to learn about those.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i sAy I really like it, and we all would probably say you are going to have some fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably for a very niche group, but if you love shmups, and classic games, this is a must have. I played the original in the arcades in Japan, as well as the Saturn version, and this is a very good port + more stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very old school bullet hell, story is just the right amount of anime in a nutshell. You'll probably recognize some of the cast if you've played some MAME games back in the day
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The beginning of City Connection plan to take over gaming world and resurrect Jaleco!!!(?) (Still!!) PD: ももこ 120% ❤
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special, developed by CITY CONNECTION and KADOKAWA CORPORATION and published by KOMODO, is a vibrant revival of a cult classic arcade shoot ’em up that proudly embraces excess, parody, and pure arcade energy. Rooted in Jaleco’s original Game Tengoku series, this modernized release doesn’t attempt to sanitize or reinvent its identity; instead, it amplifies everything that made the original memorable, from its irreverent humor and colorful cast to its unapologetically…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun SHMUP, that's on the more on the easier side, once you get the hang of it. I like the varied characters and the quirky story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plat number 284 Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special. Not too difficult of a cute 'em up game, only rough part is going through the game 6 times.
unlabelledView post →Amazing shmup game, specially if you love 90's anime, japanese humour, arcade culture and insanity. Gameplay and scoring are fairly simple, but what really makes it special is the character/ship variety, visual style and soundtrack. This is from a place and time when developers poured their hearts and souls into the games they made, you love to see it. I suck at it, though. Still a great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i appreciate the one thousand CC option. great game if your like parodious or even if you might dont.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really cute and fun game. For a better experience consider turning off the music in the options menu and listening to webcore music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most creative cute em up I've ever played. The game oozes with retro anime aesthetic and every level is based off of different genres of video games giving some very unique boss fights some that are mixed media such as fully animated anime characters and others being 3d models. Such a fun game and combined with it's presentation, this is easily my new favorite shmup.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shmup your way through the arcade, each level is like a different arcade game genre. Cute!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special is a faithful port of the Arcade & Sega Saturn original, blending classic SHMUP gameplay with a "Cute 'em Up" touch. Developed by City Connection, this special edition brings together nostalgia and updated features for an engaging shoot 'em up experience. Pros: • Vibrant pixel art, catchy chiptune music • A roster of playable characters drawn from Jaleco's gaming history, each offers a unique playstyle • Online leaderboards, multiple difficulty levels, various…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was drunk shopping. I love bullet hell shooters and buy them when on sale. Not only was this game on sale, but all the DLCs were discounted, too. I remember buying the game. Next day, I see that I bought all the DLC too. I paid little over $30 for everything. Normally I regret drunk shopping, but I was quite pleased with myself for buying this. Worth the money when on sale, I am so happy I own this completely! I recommend this game to all bullet hell shooter fans! Buy this on sale,…
