60 of 175 · most liked firstTo be completely honest, I've struggled with how to rate this game since the day I purchased. After two dozen hours (at the moment) of playing this game, I think I've finally arrived at my decision. Franchise Hockey Manager today is the best hockey sim on the market. It's fresh and serves a niche community that might otherwise go unnoticed. It excels in the GM aspect of the game. Managing contracts, players, and trades is always an enjoyable experience, especially with some of your favorite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally I said I wasn't mad, I was just disappointed, but you know what, I am mad. This is the 6th iteration, and for all the knick knacks that get added here and there the fact of the matter is that FHM6 is a failure. I had hoped that future versions would finally bring a fresh alternative to contest Eastside Hockey Manager, but holy heck you guys make it real difficult to play this game. Even with near 100+ hours of gameplay knowing where most things are I have incredible difficulty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Franchise Hockey Manager 6 is a good hockey sim game but, It's really nothing special. I would recommend Eastside Hockey Manager over this 9/10 times. I mainly bought this game for two reasons; the expansion draft and the summer sale and I'm really happy that I bought it when it was on sale because this is not a $45 game. It's not that the game is bad or anything, it just lacks that quality I would expect from a $45 game. Although my expectations may be higher than they should because I played…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky. Six versions in. And it's still clunky. The interface still sucks. The online play is still terrible. They still can't match EHM - which is basically an update of a 13-year-old game. I buy this. Every year. Just to support it. But man, this game blows. 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As Luke Skywalker would say... "what a piece of junk!". OOTP should stick with baseball... because it is obvious they dont know anything about hockey. I thought maybe just maybe that FHM6 was drastically improved over FHM2.... but no... it is still a hunk of junk. Whatever formula they use to simulate the game is completely F'd up. After finding the games in my sim league completed messed up - i opted tot try and experiment in which i used commish mode to give my team the absolute best players…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Goalie simulation is practically broken. Year after year, stats and outcomes are borderline random. My 4.5 star goalie posts pathetic seasons of below .900 SV% and a well over 3 GAA. A goalie can go from a Vezina winner to historically bad in just a season. A 1 star goalie is capable of having an incredible season, even stealing multiple playoff series. What's the point of the star system if the results don't match? Trading is laughably easy, I was able to create a complete juggernaut of a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhat disappointed in this. As with previous versions, there seem to be a ton of bugs (you'd think that, when you're on your 6th version of the game, bugs that have been in numerous of the previous versions would be fixed but, this isn't the case). Couple of examples: I offer a F.A. a contract, we agree on the money and term and the player asks me to submit the offer but I can't as "submit" is still greyed out. I have space contract wise and on the cap but still can't release the offer.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy Franchise Hockey Manager 6. Easy to play and simulates pretty quickly. Also easy to edit and love the Expansion Draft. I've added Seattle but also expanded to Quebec (they really deserve the Nordiques back) Hamilton and Atlanta. All new team with AHL farm team. Next up Cleveland, Michigan and New Orleans perhaps. Really fun game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been playing hockey manager games for over a decade now, and the Franchise Hockey Manager series is by far the most indepth one, the EA and 2K series has nothing on these games, i have 150 hours on the 5th installment of this series, and now 300 hours on the 6th, and i feel in love, though you can always in prove on things; this Hockey Manager series is by far the most polished, i highly recommend getting it; if you played the "GM Mode" on the EA games then you will ♥♥♥♥ yourself when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you can make the columbus blue jackets win the stanley cup 10/10 for enjoyment 0/10 for realism
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The historical start options elevate the game enough to make it an easy enough recommend, certainly if caught on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is difficult to say really, I do enjoy the game for what it is. But compared to other licensed sports management games it is lacking. As many reviewers have noticed there is hardly any feedback regarding decision making. My biggest frustration has been that I have no clue if my in game tactics are working or not. I am unable to see it play out, and there is nothing telling me if what I am doing is right for the team I built. I made an expansion team, and had low expectations my first…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truly the best game of it's genre. Really fun and somewhat realistic. Maple Leaf could never make it past round 1 of playoff so i guess i got to give this game 5 star. The only cons is that the simulation is way too slow. Like, really slow. Especially in the offseason. And i hope that the computer don't matter that much because i have a very computer, so i'd feel bad for the people with an average computer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has tremendous stability issues; atop of little to no expansion upon FHM5. I have a PC made for gaming, and I can't run this game for more than a season and change. It's a joke of a game, and I hope FHM6 is better, because right now, I'm pretty pissed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eastside Hockey Manager was multiplayer, in real-time. That was back in like, 2006. Why am I still struggling to find a multiplayer, real-time hockey manager in 2020? If you like to play alone, this game is for you. It's a solid game if you're a loner.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very detailed game which can be a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, and set it up the way you want, it's a really fun simulator. My one complaint is that trading for picks or prospects seems way too difficult, especially when your team's owner tells you that he wants you to rebuild.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a great idea, but for the price point of it, it's a bust. If you play OOTP at all, this is that but more bare bones and poorly optimized. Love the idea of a more updated and in depth EHM, but this is an unpolished game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keep getting problems with my lineups, even if I get the AI to do the changes for me, it still won't simulate because of "not enough skaters in the lineup" There is probably a fix for it, but my patience is gone now after trying a lot....I regret buying this game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would not recommend this game to people who do not have any OOTP experience, or at the very least some Football Manager experience. I would recommend it to hardcore fans with ample experience in this genre. FHM 6 improved a lot of things that needed attention from FHM 5, but it still feels a few years behind in development compared to OOTP. While OOTP is dealing with their "ultimate team" game mode, FHM is still ironing out bugs and trying to make things super realistic. Here are a few…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i created a gigantic french canadian family known as the St. Eloi's and they took over not just the NHL but every single playable hockey league completely
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know absolutely *nothing* about professional hockey, but am pretty good at working through stat games. This one is great for hockey fans, and very good for newcomers like myself. The menus seem intimidating at first, but experimentation leads to playing pleasure. Built myself a NY Ranger team to "beat the band" just to check out the editor. No 3D play-by-play, but the number crunching and output is enormous in a good way. Finally, got the game on sale for $2. Best bargain on Steam in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I own both EHM and FHM, and in general I would say that EHM is better, but not by a margin. Some aspects of the FHM game are straight forward and some are unexpectedly detailed. I am enjoying both games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →better than EAs trash franchise mode
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun once you get the hang of it, and remember it is just a game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can be so buggy; constantly searching for fixes to bugs that have existed since 2018. Not worth the time investment
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like how in depth this game is, being able to control so much with a few clicks is incredibly satisfying. However, I wish it would directly tell you what is and isn't working. There's times where I've struggled due to a lack of information on why my team is doing poorly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is straight up unplayable, most functions are poorly implemented if straight up not broken, and crashes even while starting the season. When one problem is resolved, another shows up. Lineup management is extremely clunky, ai autofill doesn't seem to work properly half the time, and does things like too much of one position when a player can play both. In historical challenges, it tells you that you can't generate a schedule in challenge mode since it disables the ability to do so with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not purchase this game if you want a real franchise manager. This engine is crap and does not work well. The designers are idiots and do not know hockey. Do not waste your time or your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before you consider buying Franchise Hockey Manager 6, know that it is a step behind the other sports management games made by Out of the Park Developments. It quickly becomes apparent that some features present in OOTP Baseball 17 (released 3 years earlier than FHM 6) are not as robust in FHM 6. I'm not talking about features that only make sense for baseball games, I'm referring to features that make sense for any sports game. For example: OOTP 17 - You can customize your playoffs during…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this not knowing much about hockey, which is why I spent so much time with it. I had thought my issue with FHM was just a lack of knowledge about the game it represents. Now while I don't know much about hockey, I've played every sports management sim you can name and I've learned sports that I knew nothing about, like cricket, in the act of playing the games which surround them. But no... with this it has nothing to do with the sport. It's that with FHM the interface is just bad and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's inexcusable that in a world with OOTP and Football Manager having been around and successful for well over 10 years, that this game can exist with such a terrible UI. In it's 6th iteration, it felt like a half-finished knock-off of OOTP. I played for about an hour, and simmed one game. The rest of the time was navigating the UI to set up one pre-season game. Just not good. I would have expected by now that the game would run smoothly, with a well-polished interface, and then it was just a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and not so difficult to get into. Looks overwhelming at first but it becomes easy. much better than EA NHL franchise. only bad thing is simulation times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely game is very engaging. Sometimes the game gets stuck but overall a win.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UI made the game very difficult to enjoy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a pretty good game if you're like me and spend countless hours on franchise mode in all of the ea nhl games. Missing a few things such as retained salary and I feel as if prospects may be too overpowered in the sim, but at the same time that may just be me. Overall the game is addicting, and you can do other stuff while it simulates, have a video running etc. I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent immersive sim
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid, authentic gm experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great sim...figured out the team makeup to win cups...almost every year. The journey was fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like NHL franchise mode form ea This game blows it away, way more in depth Best 25$ i've ever spent
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a very good game with the official NHL teams and they literally have every hockey league on the planet
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly good sim, has a lot to go before I would say pay full price for it. Scouting and prospecting is pretty one dimensional and the AI makes dumb decisions at time. Also negotiating needs alot of work, as offers feel pretty one way and that is it. Fun to start from nothing and make you way to legend status. I had to put restrictions on myself just to make the game more difficult.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being the only hockey management sim on the market gives it a distinct advantage over it's competitors, which there are none. And yet, FHM 6 falls to second place to a competitor that was released 5 years ago that basically can be called abandonware. Come on guys, stop spending time on user interface changes and designs and actually fix the bugs. This game is a disgrace to the great game of hockey. You guys can do so much better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have really enjoyed this game. The historical sim especially is so detailed and has a really realistic kind of feel. It seems that the AI finds the right balance between being different but also familiar. In my 79 start Yzerman went to Detroit, Lemieux to Pittsburgh, Stevens to NJ. It is fun to see the uniforms change and teams move around, expansion and stuff. The detail is great, I had completely forgotten that before 82 teams only dressed 11 forwards, little things like that, the arrival…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game keeps getting better and better. Still a few realism issues and inaccuracies, especially in historical mode. But overall this game gets a strong 8 out of 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best GM game in existance
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has pretty much everything you need in a hockey management sim. Tons of stats and info on players and staff to help you decide how to shape your team. Good customization options for making your own league. But match sims are really boring and you have no coaching options to affect anything during the match. They don't have the jerseys for teams outside the NHL but there's a good mod in the workshop to fix most of them. It's a good game but I'd wait for a sale if you can.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game wish OOTP had a game like this for all sports! Love this game!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a HUGE hockey fan, but someone disappointed in the depth(or lack thereof) of Chel, this game is a godsend to me. It's an incredibly deep game, and the historical modes are amazing as well. Since I've been working from home due to Covid-19, I've been playing this a ton and have loved every second of it. If you're a hockey fan, buy this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish people would stop bashing this game. if you're a true hockey fan you will absolutely love this. its absolutely amazing. nearly flawless in my opinion. Everything that i dislike about NHL 20 simulation and wish it had, this game totally nails it! Ona side note it is quite hard to get used to and youll have to put some significant time into it to get the full experience but once i did its literally all i want to be playing! I would like a bit of a fast sim per day would be a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely detailed sim, with all areas covered in terms of league, team and player details, career statistics, transaction histories etc. Really detailed tactics, front office, staff and player management, even down to changing Jersey numbers etc. Loving the use of Commissioner mode which means you can edit the entire league structure, rules, rosters, scheduling, awards etc. 3D player and staff rendering a very nice touch which adds to the immersion of the sim. The sim also invites the use of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love simulation games and this is the best hockey one I have ever played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to spend an hour fixing attributes and lines just for the game to crash when you simulate a day and you lose all your progress, this is the game for you!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gotta be very patient. And I’m not (pretty expensive also)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Franchise Hockey Manager 6 is a deeply systems-driven sports management simulation developed by Out of the Park Developments in collaboration with Minos Games and published by Out of the Park Developments. It represents a continuation and refinement of a series that has always prioritized authenticity, statistical depth, and long-term strategic planning over spectacle. Rather than placing the player on the ice, the game situates them firmly in the role of a general manager, responsible for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best part is being able to make your own custom league with its own rules, especially because you can use ANY real town or city, including your bummy redneck town.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like that you can create your own players, use any player given in a certain time period, very nice feature, the seasons are great to work with as well having the orginal GM of the team The Ai is absolutely horrible especially when it comes to creating lines in the team, it invariably does everything defensively instead of deciding if the player is defensive or offensive does not matter if you have Mario Lemeuix it almost always places him as defensive player of some type instead of offensive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Editing capabilities SUCK !!!! No matter what cities you enter the game changes them, logos you add to the DB do NOT load you just get the garbage OOTP put in, set up is so limited that no matter what you specify you get something else. If you decide to try to play anyway it just gets worse----you try to resign player contracts the players turn you down when you agree to their demands and when you try a second time they angry because your offer is lower( even though it is exactly what they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of NHL statistics. Hours and hours of fun. Especially the section where we can make a historic season.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing OOTP for a few years now and I will say the baseball game is way better than the FHM franchise. It's kinda weird that the whole UI is different from OOTP. I feel like they could have easily implemented some ease-of-access features from the baseball game into FHM but they didn't, almost feels like its a completely different team working on it. I will say that the game is very in depth in terms of tactics and chemistry and all the stuff you love about OOTP games, but at the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, I don't understand a few features though
